  2. Etymology: Fuwagakuen comes from the Japanese words Fuwa (不和 meaning "discord") and Gakuen (学園 meaning "academy"). A spiritual successor to /index.php?/topic/5723-samurai-quest-a-very-low-budget-mspaint-visual-novel/">Samurai Quest which is forever stuck in hiatus. The rules of the game are simple. Type down what you want the protagonist to say or do. Well, don't let me keep you waiting. Sit back and enjoy the story. Story so far:

  3. So An Octave Higher was released on Steam today (discounted to $9.99 until the 3rd of April.) After seeing the trailer vids and all I was actually pretty interested, the graphics have a somewhat unique style and I like the fantasy setting w/ social class differences (it feels a bit similar to fault ms 1 in some respects). I talked to someone who helped get it on Steam on Twitter and he said that "If you want the typical Japanese visual novel experience you won't get it. This was refreshing for me." I'd probably impulse buy this if I had the cash, lol.

  8. https://vndb.org/v17102 Purported as a "true sequel", this is going to be the first new canon entry to the series since the original. Hardly anything is known about it, other than it taking place in the beta world line. I can't really imagine how that will work since S;G's true ending ended on a different world line. What do you guys think about all this?

    I require an artist.

I'm currently working on my new Review show but before I upload I want to get some of the artwork for the channel sorted. I would do this myself but I have no artistic talent whatsoever. So I've come here wondering if there are any artist here on the forums who would be willing to help out little old me. Firstly I need someone to create an anime avatar of me. There's a photo of me in the spoiler tab for you to use as a template (I tried to make a draft in Photoshop but apparently I'm so bad at Photoshop I couldn't even do that). I don't mind what art style you use whether it's a chibi, over the top (like Jojo's Bizarre Adventures) or a more traditional style. One thing that the photo doesn't show is that I usually roll up my sleeves when wearing that kind of clothing. Secondly I need a logo for the channel. The channel is called "The Nimbus Show" and I'm thinking of having it drawn with the same design as the Flying Nimbus form Dragon Ball (one day I'll shut up about this show, but not today), but if you have a better idea then feel free to go with your gut. You can submit your designs here or in a pm. Who ever I choose will get a mention in the end credits of the show (if they so wish). If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you so much in advance to everyone.

  10. So with the departure of one of our facebook team members, batman being lazy sick, Tay appearing and disappearing and Zaka being Zaka, our Facebook page is a little understaffed (read: I'm posting everything). And thus we're seeking out one person to help out with Fuwanovel's facebook page. There's not an insane amount of work, but we really could use an extra pair of eyes to help us find cool stuff and report it to our evergrowing facebook fanbase. It'd also be nice to have some more brainpower to help us improve the page. Tasks you'll be doing are basically things like. Posting news about visual novel releases (duh) Posting about translation patches (mostly major updates) Reporting on other interesting things going on in the visual novel scene (like licenses and kickstarters) Posting about cool stuff on Fuwanovel Try to help out people with technical issues when you can. Explain we no longer have torrents for the 29384th time. Hail our queen Saigusa Haruka And reply sarcastically to comments asking about the translation progress of Little Busters EX Requirements The only thing I require is that the candidate should be an active member in the community and they're willing to actively look out for news and report on them. They don't have to do it literally every day, but I want to know I can count on them to be autonomous, I'm not going to be their babysitter after all, we'll be working together as equals. I also don't want people suddenly disappearing on me without a warning so if you have too much of a busy schedule, you might reconsider. Oh and you should have a Facebook. That's kinda important too. Don't worry, I plan on helping you out and explaining what to do in the beginning so you won't be completely lost on what to do. And of course, whenever you have suggestions or feedback, I'll be here to listen. I also want to use this opportunity to try and improve the page even if just a little. After a while hopefully you'll be able to do things on your own. If you feel like you are able to help out, please send me either a PM or post here explaining why I should pick you. Bonus points for catgirls. That is all.

    Clephas - The Infinite Stomach

Hello y’all! Ezeefreak from the Recognition Team is here this time. Today we’ll highlight another one of our precious members. If you’re able to read a VN in Japanese or even in ordinary English, then the probability is really high (near 100 %) that the member, we are introducing to you, already read that one you’re reading now or plan to read. Maybe you even found it on his suggestion, in one of his fabulous reviews or on a list he made. Well, I think y’all figured it already out that we talking about Clephas. Clephas is real pro and expert when it comes to VN’s. He has read more than 500 (in words FIVEHUNDRED) VNs by now. So he knows a lot about this media and also shares his knowledge with us. If you ask for a recommendation he is always one of the first who contribute. If you want to read something about a VN it is mostly enough to search for a review from him. In his VN of the month topic he shows us all different kinds of VNs, some that the most of us never even heard about. Also he is one of our most active bloggers on the site and showers us with incredibly detailed and interesting posts there. He is also a Moderator of the FuwaChat and probably already ate the most of the people from there. Well, let me show you a little overview over all the awesome work he does on Fuwanovel: - Clephas' VN of the month - There are also lot of other informative posts like VN Companies, their nature and habits or Why Japanese is easier to learn than you think - Clephas made a lot of helpful Lists and recommendations, see yourselff here, here, here , ... and so on It would really take to long to liste every single one . - A must see for every lover of VN's is definitely his blog. He contributed a lot to this community and like I said at the beginning, is a real expert when it comes to VNs. It would be too much to list every helpful and excellent post here. We from the RecTeam, the Staff of Fuwa and all the other people of Fuwa thank him for the work he does and hope the he will us show more from the world of VNs in the future. Thank you!

  12. First of all, let me get this out of the way... VN of the Month, February 2015: Silverio Vendetta Runner Up: Sanoba Witch Currently playing: Teito Hiten Daisakusen Since I'm playing Teito Hiten for VN of the Year 2014 right now, I decided to let the fans of my VN of the Month thread decide which VN I'll play first from March. These are the three I considered. One is from Saga Planets, another from Rosebleu, and the last is from Minato Soft. Since these three are companies I actually pay attention to, these were my first choices to play, from March's releases. Whichever has the most votes by the time I get done with Teito Hiten wins and will be played/reviewed first.

  14. With a bit of luck there will be no need... With a bit of bad luck the outsiders will mess with the game and make him win... Feel free to be on your toes and betray me this round - it provides no tangible advantage to you and it would counter outside interference. This is actually quite likely. The guys outside can easily mess with this to create a winner. Prepare to take a hit to build up your trust. Even so, I'm not particularly interested in winning as much as I am in getting as many people out as possible. EDIT: And what do you even mean by "let Tiago win another round"?! Have you seen my bloody strategy? Does it look like the cunning, efficient strategy you're making it out to be? I'm the easiest one to kick out of the game, aren't I? I get paired up two successive rounds against someone who betrays and I'm out. You may claim my wishes and objectives are ridiculous, but I will not let you pain me in a bad light.

    Persona

Hyped for P5 as well. During the first few days of the recent trailer's existence I probably saw it like, 20 times in one sitting. I wanted to show it to some of my non-gamer friends as well but they were too busy : <

  16. From one group to another, best of luck. Majikoi is a fun VN, so I'm looking forward to the sequel. Also frankly glad that this isn't coming out for a bit, I didn't move for two days after the first title came out. Getting absorbed in another VN so soon would be terrible for all that real life stuff I'm ignoring.

  25. Confession: I'm going through one of my ex's first mom stages. Last night she was comparing how I've been getting younger everyday while she's aged a lot since her pregnancy. She thinks it's going to be a big problem if we live together and I start fancying younger girls. But I told her I'd stay up to watch the kid while she can go out all she wants.

  26. Just finished Miyako's route in Majikoi. Don't really know what to think of it yet, since I don't have anything to compare it to. I found the ending to be pretty predictable, but that doesn't really bother me. I thought it was sweet Kinda refreshing to have a perverted heroine for once, I have to admit. Planning on going Miyako > Chris > Wanko > Mayucchi > Momoyo, and then I'll deal with the side routes later. Finally unlocked the CG page, and ugh, getting 100% is gonna be quite tiresome this time. Hideo is my favorite character, hands down. Whenever his theme began playing I started giggling to myself, I just couldn't help it. He's one of the silliest characters I've seen in a VN. Gen-san is a close second, though. Male tsundere for the win.

  29. I just finished Wanko's route in Majikoi ,she was such a lively girl and was very cute, the epilogue was very interesting since it told of everyone's future life, Suguru's future made me laugh so much, I thought he was gonna become a gamer like moro, or maybe a doujin artist. Might get started on Chris or Mayucchi's route next, though that is going to be later since winter 2015 season is finally over and that means its time to watch those really good fall 2014 animes, so I'm gonna put down VNs for a couple days, or maybe a week or two depending on fast I can marathon anime

  30. Well well well. Let's get this started shall we. It's time we made this game official, and that means we need a way to find a true winner. Here's how things will go from now on: Winning the Game: The Ambidex game will continue to be played until 1 or more players have won a total of 5 games. The winner(s) of the game will receive an award on the site, courtesy of Ren. The Death Penalty: Those who are killed in the game, will be unable to play future games for a set number of games (to be determined). This is an especially useful strategy for removing those pesky people who might be a tad closer to winning then you are. Not at this point you're asking "But what if I'm not able to play in this game and have to wait for the next one? Surely I'm at a disadvantage right?" Well you would be if it wasn't for the last change. Morphogenetic Sorrow: During each game, those on the waiting list for the next game can cooperatively opt to change one vote during the course of the game. They have no knowledge of what this vote is or what other members are doing, they simply change it from what it originally was. Those playing will not know who's vote was change. Players can try an convince others that it was their not intention to vote that way. Of course, it can also be used as an excellent excuse for a particularly nasty vote. The vote change can be used to kill another player. Happy Hunting.

  33. I pity anyone who plays it expecting the same quality as the previous three games. Just started playing Pillars of Eternity and the intro was fine. The character I created was a monk, though I'm kind of wanting to create a rogue now since I tend to like being a ninja (or as close to one as I can be).

  37. A Message from the Creator: Ladies and gentlemen of Fuwanovel, After careful consideration and multiple attempts to revive the Battle of the Guilds game hosted on the forums of the website, I have decided to close the game for good and do what I think is necessary for the community to enjoy something that I feel was an absolute joy to create. Creating the BOGs game was a very enjoyable experience, and as many of my fellow TeamSpeak users will state, there would days I would stay up for countless hours creating cards and managing the setup of such a grand forum activity. The hype, the participation, it was all an incredible experience. Truth be told, it was far more than I could handle and because of this experience I have learned how to best handle games like this for the future. People lost interest, and losing players meant it was more of a challenge for updating boards. Not only that, but having to wait for players to finish their turns meant long waits for a lot of players; running 6 games at once is not an easy task. This game was when I felt I was at a high point for activity ideas on Fuwanovel, and thanks to it, I have managed to come up with over 10 different game ideas for this year which I will start dishing out in the next month or so. While giveaways are important to me, so is actively allowing new and old members of Fuwanovel to have a place where they can socialize and feel the same kind of experience I had when coming here. That being said, this is not the end of activities, nor do I feel this is the end of the BOGs. Linked below is the game in its entirety. After reorganizing most of the material I used in creating the game, I have uploaded all of the necessary files onto my Google Drive available for free download by any member of the community who so wishes to use this game for whatever purpose he or she wants to in the future. Simply click the following link below to start the download. The file is zipped for your convenience. Thanks again, and see you around. OriginalRen Download Link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7ivNNDDfsj5fkNIbFZUYWdiT293VHZkejJOaGNlQUhFb1pKRnhWWUhnbDVySElIUXB4Zm8&authuser=0 What is in the file? Board Layouts - For 2 player, 3 player, and 4 player games respectively Card Templates - These templates include a layout for creating your very own guild cards with their own unique name and crest, in addition to starting agent, location, and relic card templates that allow you to create the starting deck of 9 cards for each guild. Finally, there are 3 templates for creating freelance agents, non-starting location cards, and non-starting relic cards which are used in the game Please Note: The templates are .psd files, meaning you can only edit them with Photoshop. OriginalRen's Cards - Don't feel like making your very own cards? Simply use the deck I have already prepared which I will preview below. Keep in mind that if you want to make your own deck of cards, you need to use the values listed on the cards I created for balance purposes when playing the game Anzu has a value of 3, 2, 2, 7 respectively, with a main power value in friendship. You can replace this card with your own picture and name, but remember that the 1 of the cards in the deck of 49 freelance agents must match that of Anzu's values. This is so the game remains balanced. Overall, the entire game deck consists of the following card counts: 49 freelance agent cards 36 location cards 31 relic cards 9 starting cards for each guild (7 agents, 1 location, and 1 relic) Finally, the rules for the game can be found in the following links: Game Rules Card Anatomy Agent Cards Location Cards Relic Cards The Twins Card My Freelance Agents: My Locations: My Relics: Finally, to all of you who participated in the BOGs game after the signups finished, you will all be receiving a special award icon based on what guild you joined. I will be dishing these out in the next few hours. Thanks again all.

  38. Hey Fuwans! Lino here again bringing some more fabulous happenings around Fuwa proper. This post is going to be a tad beefier than normal, so bare with me here. In this case, it isn't as much a 'happening' is a thing that persistently exists. So without further ado, we'll be taking a look at the Fuwa-Skype Group and its offshoot; Fuwa-Skype Karaoke. For those of you who don't know, Fuwa actually has its own skype group, the Fuwa-Skype Group (F.S.G). It's one of the places where a bunch of members here often frequent and give each other raburabu hangout outside of the forum. You can check out the thread dedicated to joining it over here. If the idea of getting into that is off-putting, perhaps take a look through the "unforgettable skype quotes" thread. We are also housing the next Nasu (a la Fate series and Tsukihime), so that right there is all the more reason to check it out. Aside from that, as mentioned in the first part of this post, there is also an offshoot group of F.S.G; Fuwa-Skype Karaoke (F.S.K). As the name suggests, members get together and jam out and sing together every Saturday. It has been going on for a while now and everyone who ends up participating enjoys it a lot. So we, the Recognition Team, have asked a few members of the Skype groups for a bit of their time for interviews, and they oh so kindly obliged. We would very much like to thank Kurisu-Chan, arakura, Jptje, and Joris914 for taking the time to deal with our questions and letting us interview them. Half of the interviews are in text form while the other two are available for your listening pleasure. Enjoy! Interviews: arakura (interviewed by Ezeefreak) Kurisu-Chan (interviewed by your's truly) Jptje (interviewed by Rose) Joris (interviewed by Rose)

  39. I think voice-acting is something that adds a lot to the experience, so it's relevant to me. Now, that does not means that I loathe VNs without voice acting, hell, I'm reading Tsukihime and I'm in love with it despite the audio issues, not to mention how much I love Katawa Shoujo. Judging the nature of the medium, I feel like voice acting is something that can only add to the work. Something I want to mention, is that I'd rather either have no voice acting at all or it full voiced than only some parts. I read The Second Reproduction and only having some parts voiced was really weird and while it wasn't bad, in fact, some voiced parts were outstanding, I think it's the worst choice possible. You know, go big or go home.
