  1. http://reviews.fuwanovel.net/2016/04/21/destinys-princess-a-war-story-a-love-story/ I did an otome title this time. It was a pretty fun game, though I dunno about recommending it to the ordinary fuwa user.

This was truly an awesome VN and i'm happy to have read this, the true ending really was the kicker for me and I just got so much feels for OkabexKurisu. Next i'm going to play Thousand Lies I just downloaded. hope it will be a nice way to pass the time.

  6. Wait really? Yeah, really: https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/4fnyu7/seinarukana_spirit_of_eternity_sword_2_has_shipped/ Seinarukana is the semi-sequel to Aselia the Eternal, an RPG/VN hybrid that received a fan translation and a subsequent official release years ago. Here's a description courtesy of Sanahtlig: You do not need to have played Aselia first, the stories are mostly unrelated and I believe that if any of its characters make an appearance, it's pretty much just cameos. The gameplay is somewhat akin to a turn-based Ogre Battle if you've ever played those. The basis of the battles isn't a group of adventurers going on a journey and encountering monsters, but instead you control an armed force who does battle with other militarized entities, sort of like an SRPG. You move multiple parties of characters along a series of interconnected pathways and when they meet an enemy, they carry out actions in a mostly hands-off manner in accordance to the party's formation. To be perfectly honest, I did prefer the Ogre Battle games to Aselia, but I still had some fun with it. It's been in the works for ages, has been the subject of derisive jokes due to its many, many delays, but it's finally here. Kind of. I have confirmation from JAST that they're shipping out copies. We got notification a couple weeks ago that it went golden master, and just last week they said it was duplicating, but it still sort of feels like they just stealthily slipped this one out to us. It seems like they didn't want to miss a release date, so they simply never publicly set one. You can order a physical version on J-List (referral link is fuwanovel's, not mine) and get your copy shipped out now or very soon. The download version will also be made available very soon according to my JAST contact. He didn't give me an exact date but it sounds like within the next day or two. So, yeah. Surprise! It's here! edit: Download version is now available! https://www.jastusa.com/seinarukana-the-spirit-of-eternity-sword-2.html

  10. The only punctuation worthy of accompanying an exclamation point is an unnecessarily long phrase enclosed with tildes, appearing in every nukige title. I've been conditioned to have an erection at the sight of squiggly lines.

  11. While I get annoyed at the naming aspects on my filesystem, at least exclamation marks mean something... I'm far more annoyed by meaningless apostrophe abuse by Japanese Engrish [sic] titles such as Clover Day's.

  13. Sanah and Rooke already got to it, but I don't mind them offering a version with less features. I feel like this all depends on the price breakdown. So long as the full version costs about the same as other VNs of the type, it's a pretty good thing that they're also making a version that'll sell for people who don't want the features that were excluded from the full one. I saw the argument that it'll set a bad precedent for the future, but even then, so long as the pricing is fair, I don't really mind it. Who am I to judge if someone wants to buy G-Senjou and only read Haru's route for half the price? (it's actually a pretty good idea, given how generally worthless the other routes in that game are. But I digress.) If they offer an imcomplete version for a high price and then offer the previous content as DLCs for even more money then I can see people getting pissed, though. And the argument related to being pessimistic or optimistic with this is silly and I won't get into it.

  14. Is it seriously an otaku pleasure to always have every slice of life/moege anime/visual novel revolve around the male protagonist enjoying a peaceful and fun school life? Has anyone noticed that every description uses this exact same format and near identical wording every time? Also, why does every description always end with something along the lines of how his fun days are just beginning?

  15. Having played the PSP version myself (which is the same as the 3DS one in terms of story) I would say you should be fine if you buy it. The point I tried making was that the PC version is also worth it. Considering you didn't play either yet, you can get both, but just the 3DS version will still give you the whole story.
    1 point
  16. The PC version is a localization of the 2009 Japanese PC release of the game. However, it does have extra scenes and endings that could not be added in the game at the time. This is NOT a port of the PSP version onto PC. The 3DS version however is a port of the PSP version. The graphics are slightly nore polished, but the content of the story is the same. So if you played the PSP version, there's not much reason to get this one. Out of the 2, I would go with the PC version since that's the original version of the game and it was never released in the West until now so you actually have stuff to discover!

  20. To some extent. The heroes being who they are and the general atmosphere of the game are enough to give it value, though whether that'd make up for reading romance you're not interested in is up to the individual. So long as they don't go in with high expectations in the history front, it should be pretty fun.

  22. If you've seen 17 episodes then you've seen everything. A lot of sites put the OVAs together with the first season. Kokoro Connect was really good, except for the fact worst girl won.

  23. Did you make sure to watch the final 4 episode OVA set? It's another story arc. And yeah, I really enjoyed Kokoro Connect, mainly the first arc (I found that arc to just be really interesting) and the OVA set, the other two arcs were... kinda iffy), but the 4th one went back to its better drama roots.

  26. The arrogance is pretty breathtaking, honestly. They barely changed their Kickstarter from its first iteration (aside from the rewards, which they made less terrible, I'll give them that), answered almost no questions aside from ones asking whether or not they were getting the mobage version and gave meaningless answers to the other questions, and did pretty much nothing to address any of the complaints people had with what they were doing. Before this Kickstarter(s?) I thought Root Double's was bad, but these two blow it out of the water. Oh, it apparently got Greenlit. Not really surprised, all you have to do nowadays to get a VN greenlit is show nice-looking moeblob anime tits and you're good. I already thought that they were collectively a shit "community" but this is a new low. EDIT: lol I forgot about this 5/7 comment from them on the Prefundia page: >from the ground up If they actually listened to us and r/visualnovels they'd have given up already lmao

  27. Officially, Aselia's ending is canon, incidentally. This was around the fifteenth game I played after starting my trip through untranslated VNs, and, to be blunt, the gameplay is greatly improved. However, in terms of the story, it is somewhat less compelling, if more complex.

  32. I like people who can do the following: Given a controversial topic that the person has a strong opinion on, he/she can argue with people who hold an opposing viewpoint without resorting to logical fallacies or name-calling. The person can summarize and repeat the opposing viewpoint in an objective manner that satisfies those who hold it. The person can then effectively argue the merits of the opposing viewpoint to those who share his viewpoint. I find that people who can do this are rare and valuable to have as friends and confidants.

  38. They seem to be trying to kill that perception with Maitetsu, if they're actually going to go ahead and release an uncut 18+ version. What better way to get rid of the negative perception of "SP hates h and won't give us any" than by providing an uncut English TL of a lolige? This is assuming that they are going to go ahead and release the 18+ version of it, though, like they've been hinting. If what they're saying about Akabei is also true, then they really don't hate h that much, it's just that their silence on why there was no 18+ version of G-senjou up until now didn't really help that suspicion. I really hope they continue to be relatively vocal on matters like this, all it does when they keep quiet is ruin their image with traditional fans of VNs and irritate people that actually want information. I get that there's a fine line between being open and pissing off the partners you're working with by sharing too much, but I don't believe that it's impossible to provide something other than, "Maybe. Wait and see," or "Wait for more info".

  39. Hopefully dovac realizes that visual novel fans are not going to pay for a game twice and those who want an 18+ version are not going to support an all ages version. Hopefully they release them simultaneously so they can accurately see the difference in sales. By releasing an all ages version and then an adult version months later it would not be giving them accurate information. Even people that originally had an interest will likely just find other things to buy if they wait too long in between the all age and 18+ release. At least they're talking in a better direction hopefully at the next convention they actually discuss 18+ titles and hopefully this isn't just talking out the ass for PR. The saying goes actions speak louder than words...let's wait and see. As for wagamama anime it sucks. So hopefully they don't try to appeal to the western market in the hopes the anime actually does well. They'd be better off targeting 18+ simply because the amount of people watching and actually giving a damn for wagamama is minute compared to almost any other anime this season. It doesn't help that most anime fans do not give a shit about shorts.

  41. Finished Ever 17. And, to be honest, I am a bit disappointed with the ending. Also, impact of some revelation scenes was lowered because I guessed several plot points. They were still pretty powerful though. In the end I'm a bit confused that score to give to this VN. It is better than all of the VNs I've given 8 to, but I don't think it deserves a solid 9. I'll still give it 8 for now, though I might reconsider it in the future. Going to start reading Tokyo Babel tomorrow! Also, is my English good enough for this forum?

  44. Visiting Japan sometime in the near future? Want a small preview into what sorts of goodies will be featured in the Akihabara guidebook I am currently working on for the end of the year? Here is the 1st part of a quick guide all about the strip. Use it to help you understand a little bit of fun history about the district of Akihabara, or just read it for fun! Whatever the reason, if you'd like me to add more stores and give you more of a preview in the future, let me know. The reason I made this post was to give some of you an idea of how much time and effort I am putting into this guide, and how it is completely different from the other guides out there (if they exist). While a lot of this content is featured on my YouTube channel, not all of you watch that, so here is a nice little condensed bit of information for those that appreciate text more. You can now see why I want to hire a professional photographer, and why I think translating this into a multitude of languages would be awesome. Again, I am serious about the Kickstarter and really want to make this a reality. Enjoy! Important: When checking out stores, refer to the map located in the spoiler tag below. Center of Akihabara: Sofmap #2: Akihabara Radio Kaikan: Onoden + Laox: Volks: Random Electronic Shops: Sofmap #1 + Sega Arcades: Adores Karaoke: Random Hobby Shops: Akky Souvenir Shops: Comic Zin: Sofmap #3: Taito Game Station: Akiba Zone: Comic Toranoana: Don Quixote + Tsukumo: Roll&Roll Station + Melonbooks + Tenplant: Getchu: Kimidore Wallscroll: TamTam Hobby Shop: Figure Hobby Shop: Akiba Island: And that's the end of the 1st part. If you want me to finish doing a few more stores (again, not featuring everything since a lot of this is expanded on in the guidebook I am working on), let me know. Thanks for reading, and I hope it helps!
