  1. The visual novel community is incredibly diverse and spread out across multiple locations, so much so that it sometimes becomes hard to know what kind of people we're dealing with. Well no worries, because me and a team of highly trained professionals have spent 32 years studying this community and have cataloged all of our findings in order to give people the ability to always know the type of player they are dealing with. Each category is followed by what we believe to be their typical call* when roaming through the inter web, so if you hear any of these, you know what you're facing ahead. *Some of these sounds may or may not be mating calls as well. 1 -The Hipster Elitists "Muv-Luv Alternative is a 7/10 game. It has great moments, yes, but overall it isn't all that impressive. IMHO it does not deserve very high a place in the hallmark of VN's." 2 The Steam Casuals 3 - The Lolicon "I skipped every route in Hoshimemo for Mare's route and it was clearly the best part of the whole story, really spoke to me on a personal level." 4 - The Hebephile "I don't like underage girls that look too young, only ones that are like 14, I'm not like those disgusting lolicons." 5 - The Moege Crowd "I nominate Imouto Paradise for next year's Academy Awards." 6 - The Anti-Moege Crowd "Having killed anime back in 2006, moe is currently on the cusp of destroying visual novels." 7 - The Translator "This visual novel is completely butchered, they clearly should have used 'thank you' instead of 'thanks' in this sentence. 0/10" 8 - The OELVN Developer "Today I bring you a kickstarter for Sakura Highschool Doki Doki Adventure Mk 2 where you play the role of an average highschool student who suddenly finds himself squished between the breasts of his kawaii osananajimi and Senpai. Who will he pick to be his bride? (hint, it's both). Plz gib m0ney." 9 - The Anti H-content "I not fapping to 2D girls, I love them in a romantic sense not sexual, and in my opinion sex kills all romance and I am strongly against any kind of sex for many reasons, I am especially against 2D porn and I find it to be discrase for 2D world. Which is also a part of my 2D girls>3D girls opinion as 3D romance relationship is all about sex not about real love which as I believe doesn't even exist in a 3D world and couldn't exist." 10 - The Undefined "Everything you said is completely and utterly wrong. This is also a part when I said to Ren about being so blinded by 3D world that he is not capable to really see Anime World. 3D world is the one that is shaped by the 2D world and not the other way around, it has always been so. For as long as there was this 3D world and we humans have started our evolution with technology there have been a stories and those stories ware as important part of evolution as is technology, if technology gives us possibilities stories give us ideas of how to use those possibilities. It's stories and legend that had put rules into an empty world and with it created society and morals at first but later everything else as well including emotions too.Everything that we have in this 3D world started from an idea from a story, it was what one at a time might consider a fictional story but due people being fascinated by that story they try to realize it and by realizing they create something new in this empty world. Some examples of this would be aristocracy, it was at first only a story or an idea of out there being superior people who should led and rest who should fallow but by repeating that story, by out there being people who ware fascinated by those stories, those who tried to realize it and those who started to believe in it eventually aristocracy was born as one of first orders in a wild empty world in other words it was born as one of first socaityes. Latter diplomacy was no different. Another example closer to our time would be emotions, to summarize it down let's choose only love as an example. There have been stories about love far into the past but only did in last 50-100 yeasr had it started to become realized. Nowadays talks about love and romance as something that exist in this world is normal, but that wasn't so just in a recent past. as for how recent past that could wary from 50 to 100 years as not all countries and regions had been evolving at a same time and even now we have more and less advanced countries. But regardless of that if you look into the past there was little to no mention of love as something that has been taking seriously. People ware mostly just getting married based on their statuses, in low and middle class of people women would look for someone who has a steady job and is capable of looking after a family man would look foor woman capable of doing chores around the house and looks might pay some role as well but personalities very little and love would hardly even be mentioned. In fact in a lot of socaities it would also be common thing for parents to just decide who will their children get married to. In higher class of people wouldn't be much different, people would be getting meried for bisnis purposes. The most of love that would be even mentioned would have been some small romantic act such as maybe giving a flowers or something, and people would have considered just taking a liking to someone apprentice to be falling in love. This has only changed in last 50 or so years only because people have optioned far more freedom, secure lifes and offcourse because love stories have become much more common and where broth to next level and people started to believe in those stories until it become a norm. But as everything else in this world love too it is still far from real and noting more then fake and delusion, that is why always when one story gets realized it only opens a path for a new version of that story more complex, expanded and more real to come into view and to try to get realized. And now for the first time in history we have Anime. But as it's technology that gives as possibilities we can't advance furder then technology allows as, and as technology has but barely started it is still not at a level to gives as a possibility to create something real like in Anime worlds therefore we can only advance stories to get closest to real thing as possible little by little and by realizing those stories to get our world closer to having something real in it. Technology will eventually gives a possibilities to create a real worlds once when we get to the point where everything in this one 3D world is under our control witch is the purpose of existence of this world, to become a seed from with a new worlds are born. Anime are most advanced stories that we have ever had in this world, they are for the very first times the stories of something real, of real worlds with real emotions. I think it is so ironic to call this world we live in a real world when everything in it is fake and it is anime world that has real things in it. And offcourse anime it self is constantly advancing to new highs. So now all we need is technology to create those anime worlds, now it comes a time for us to evolve into gods. This Shitty 3D world only exist for the sake of Anime worlds and chosen few geniuses who will evolve into gods and create new worlds in an image of perfection in an image of anime. Offcourse there is far more to it but I think I had blessed you with my presence enough for today. Also perverts are just animals who fallow their instincts and failures in evolution therefore no different from worms." Or, alternatively, when provoked: "You people are joke who think that just being from japan and being an otaku makes you a true otaku. Being true otaku means understanding anime culture and it's worlds and dedicating your life to otakuism. Anime characters are pure and would never do anything primitive like sex. Anime characters are far superior to real life humans far deeper and more complicated and something to be worshiped not used as fap material. You don't even understand that yet you call yourself an otaku." Thank you for reading the findings of our research, don't forget to leave your on the way out.

  2. Hi. Just in time for the game's release. http://reviews.fuwanovel.net/2016/04/27/root-double-before-crime-after-days-xtend-edition/ I couldn't find a decent promo image in English. I have no idea what that's saying but hey, whatever. I give this game 3/5 stars. While I think it's a bit overhyped and overrated, it still has some good stuff going for it and some of you people who are huge zero escape and infinity fans might like it anyways.

  7. For the record: the comment system on FuwaReviews is terrible. I have 3 accounts on record with Fuwanovel, and NONE of them worked to log in. I haven't played Root Double, but this comment caught my notice: I hate to break it, but if you're at the point where death from acute radiation poisoning is a concern, you're beyond fucked. Radiation poisoning is like a sunburn in that it's slow onset. The highest levels will kill you within 48hrs. 5x less than that will STILL kill you, but it'll take a month or so. Less than that will ALSO kill you, but in the form of cancer. (Source)

  12. It's a horror VN with some exploration gameplay. Much of the appeal of the games is discovering the many ways the characters can die (and there are quite a few.) as well as solve the mystery of the school. Although by now, I'm sure everyone already knows that So if exploration and body horror ain't your thing, you can skip this game if you want. But, personally, I feel you'd be doing yourself a disservice.

  13. Well, first of all congratulations on successful Kickstarter for Root Double, even though it's kinda shaky at the middle. My comment is that for Sekai if next time you want to release the VN that has less exposure than this one, I would suggest that you better did the Thunderclap and better tier earlier (Although I understand that maybe this time Regista was kinda hesitate to allow Sekai at first, while back at Libra the decision to make the Kickstarter was started from the staff of Libra themselves iirc), since I'd read that many of the user feel here your move was kinda late. Anyway since this project was already funded, let's move on to discuss this game, and if you still want to discuss the Kickstarter, please go to this thread. For the release date, hopefully around March (Although if the release was got pushed, I'll make sure the thread will be not drowned). Anyway, from the title, it was obvious the credit should go to GundamAce or back in Gamefaqs forum ShadowBlackMage since he was as the leader of Lemnisca Translation did the translation. Once again, if some of Lemnisca member came here (Or especially GundamAce), thanks for translating this game and 2 previous games (I/O and Never7). For the premise, as we knew Root Double was dealing with 9 people (3 people from rescue squad and 6 civilian people) trapped in nuclear facility which about to explode within 9 hours. To make it worse, actually there was a drug that could prevent radiation, but unfortunately in best case scenario it was only enough for 6 people, leaving 3 people dead. By reading that, you knew that the chance of all people to survive were very slim. So of course they need to trying to search where they could escape within 9 hours. Oh, apparently this game maybe Takumi Nakazawa answer to 999 which was made by his fellow back at Infinity project, Kotarou Uchikoshi. I mean what's with 9 people and 9 hours (Oh and one more info, the drug I mentioned was only capable to prevent radiation for 1 hour. The drug supply was only 54 drugs, in other word only enough for 6 people like mentioned before). For trivia info, the drug name was Alone Desire. As the story goes, there was also some mysteries which accompany them to their escape. There were 6 mysteries, and the mysteries were: The captain rescue squad loss his memories Some of trapped civilian were high school students (Normally in VN it's not a mystery, since they like to involve high school XDDD. The question is more like why the high school students could come into nuclear facility) There was dead body inside facility The reason that the incident happened, and why they couldn't get out easily And last mystery was about the people who should not exist but exist at the nuclear facility There you go with the mystery. For more info, once again you could look to Kickstarter page, or Animesuki forum here. And once again thanks to GundamAce for the info translation back at Animesuki forum. As for the review, here's from Awesome Curry Chronicle (WARNING - Some MAJOR SPOILER there) and below's from GundamAce. For special service I'll post his review, from A route to his final review (The game was divided to 4 route - A, B, C, and D). He wrote the review in Animesuki and Gamefaqs back at 2012 (I was interested to Root Double since 2012 by the way). So, here's the review from GundamAce Route A Review (I'll use spoiler for shorter page, although guess it's already very long) Route B Review Route C Review Route D Review (Keep in mind this review was for normal version, because I'd heard that XTend version had Route D changed. Correct me if I'm wrong) Gundam Ace Final Review There you have it, although if some of you find it better than Ever17 or not later is depend on you I suppose. Oh finally, since GundamAce mentioned cast, guess for next I should do some commentary for the cast and character, like back in KoiChoco and Noble Works. One interesting thing about 9 characters was the system called Enneagram. It take too much time for explaining it, so I'll give Wikipedia link here. And for 999 games, actually there was also some info that Uchikoshi confirm that he design the character based on Enneagram. There was discussion about that at Gamefaqs, and here's the discussion (Watch out for spoiler though in case you didn't finish 999). For the cast, I'll give them based on Enneagram from 1 to 9, some info, and the seiyuu. But before tha, I'll give some info about 2 additional characters first. Since in GundamAce review that he mentioned Ai Shimizu character, guess I'll better mentioned Ai Shimzu first. In case you wonder who will Ai Shimizu voiced, here's the character. As for the character, I couldn't explain it since the info was nothing, and if you ask my opinion, she was not important at all. As for Ai Shimizu herself, her role was (By the way her pseudonym mostly had some connection with automotive brand) Sanjou Makoto in Noble Works, Komine Sachi in Grisaia franchise, Napoleon in Eiyuu Senki, Elina in Dracu Riot, and Tamaki Sakura in Hatsuyuki Sakura. As for Miyoko Tenkawa, she was Natsuhiko's mother, and she works at LABO and according to VNDB she rarely come home. So she like Hinata's father back in I/O, while we could said that Natsuhiko situation resemble Hinata's. For the seiyuu, she was voiced by Sayaka Ohara, and her role was Kela Hazel in Galaxy Angel trilogy, Dahlia in Duel Savior PS2 Version, Urotorii in Utawarerumono, and most famously in VN she was Beatrice back in Umineko. As promised earlier, here's the other characters info, starting from 1st Enneagram. Oh by the way all trapped people based on Enneagram. Ukita Keiji (1st Enneagram, The Reformer) - By the way, his enneagram and Loise enneagram was mistakenly written in kickstarter page as the Helper. According to the description, he was Natsuhiko neighborhood and work at LABO as one of the researcher. His voice was provided by Toru Okawa, and his role was Tomitake in Higurashi franchise, Arawn in Tears to Tiara, and Gasai Itsuki back in Comyu. Mashiro Toba (2nd Enneagram, The Helper) - According to description, she was one of our MC (Natsuhiko. Oh this VN had 2 MC by the way) childhood friend. Her biggest pride was cooking and take care of Natsuhiko. Back in TV Trope, GundamAce describe her position was like Sakuya back in I/O. Her voice was Asami Imai, and her role in VN was Makise Kurisu back in Steins Gate, Okitsu Ai in Yumina the Ethereal, Morishita Michiru in Koi Choco, and Yoshitsune in Eiyuu Senki. Ena Tsubakiyama (3rd Enneagram, The Achiever) - The teacher at Natsuhiko and Mashiro school. For hard word, she was kinda want to achieve something as the enneagram said, sometimes to obsessive to the goal I think. For easier word, especially to Remember11 veteran who read this, just thinking of Mayuzumi Lin when she trapped at LABO. As the seiyuu, the name was Toyoguchi Megumi and her role was like I said before Mayuzumi Lin in Remmeber11 and Junko Enoshima back at Dangan Ronpa. Louise Yui Sannomiya (4th Enneagram, The Individualist) - Half Japan and half French, and transfer student in Natsuhiko school. Nicknamed Salyu and she had ferret called Alice. For some reason, she was willing to live with Natsuhiko. For the seiyuu, Shindou Kei, no notable role in VN or anime, although some of user here may elaborate it. Oh GundamAce made a comment that Salyu design remind him of Feili from Chrome Shelled Regios. Watase Kasasagi (5th Enneagram, The Investigator) - One of our MC and the captain of rescue squad. At the beginning, he was lost his memory for unknown reason. But before memory loss, he was calm man and with dry sense of humor. His voice was Shingaki Tarusuke and his role in translated VN was none, although Fate/Zero fan may recognize him as Matou Kariya. Kazami Tachibana (6th Enneagram, The Loyalist) - Chilhood friend from Watase and vice captain of rescue squad. She was take the lead while Watase suffering memory loss. Her seiyuu was Rina Satou, and her role in VN was Souya Misaki in old VN Snow Sakura, Kusakabe Yuki in To Heart 2, Yoshitsune in Majikoi S, Nami from Aoi Shiro, and Ushiromiya Ange in Umineko franchise. Natsuhiko Tenkawa (7th Enneagram, The Enthusiast) - Another MC, and he was only high school students. He like to be alone, just like Hinata back in I/O. For a little commentary, at the beginning he was liveng in harem situations lol, with Mashiro came to his house every morning, Salyu living in his house, and another his childhood friend Yuuri also live in same house as his. For the seiyuu, the name was Ichiki Mitsuhiro and his role in anime (I didn't comment his performance in VN because he didn't had any role in translated VN yet) was very lame MC from old anime Magikano (By the way, I watched it back at 2007) Haruo Yoshikawa. Of course Natsuhiko was more handsome than Haruo lol (Even though both of them wear glasses). Jun Moribe (8th Enneagram, The Challenger) - Kazami junior in rescue squad, and her goal was that she want to become the heroes who protect the weak. That's why she choose to become rescue squad as first step. Her seiyuu was Tomonaga Akane, who in VN she was play as Inubushi Keiko and Suzukage Hotori back in Remember11, Seira in Chaos Head, Nagamine Nozomi in Seinarukana, Kawakami Kazuko aka Wanko in Majikoi, Soejima Hisoka in Comyu, Kazami Kazuki in Grisaia franchise, and Oda Nobunaga in Eiyuu Senki. Yuri Kotono (9th Enneagram, The Peacemaker) - Another Natsuhiko childhood friend, and live with him. According to the info back at Animesuki, she didn't like to go outside house, but for some reason she was trapped in LABO, while according to Natsuhiko she should be at home. I quite take a liking to her design back at 2012. Her seiyuu was Kaori Nazuka, and her role in VN was Flower MC Shirahane Suou. Oh if some of you like to watch Fate Ilya, she was play Miyu Edelfelt. I think that's all of the info from Root Double I could give it here. Although there's still more about world building info, but you could read it at Kickstarter or GundamAce info. Use this thread for future discussion of Root Double in near future. And sorry if I couldn't provide more info. Hope you like my post here. PS Almost forget, here's the OP Video for Root Double thanks to Sekai Project Edit - I'd just remember that one of VNDB user made a review for Root Double. So like GundamAce review, I'll copy the review here. Oh the user name was crauxan Crauxan Root Double Review - The review was made back at 2013

Those two routes are basically the first 2/3rds of the story. If your viewers actually expect a complete story experience, they will not get that if you stop at the end of route B.

  15. I didn't dig into the minutiae of their situation because explaining EVERYTHING could take ages, but in the game world they developed a drug called AD ("Alone Despair," thanks Japan) to counteract radiation poisoning. They actually have limited supplies of the drug and much of the first scenario is spent with them trying to locate and secure more of it. But there's definitely some suspension of your disbelief required in some aspects.

  38. Anyone else get Seinarukan here other than me? If yes, I think we could started the discussion here, and I'll try to write my first impression here later. For sure this game had very long history in translation, but I'll try to make it brief here. According to VNTL, the translation was began back at 2010 when it was handled by Dakkodango, also the team who translated the prequel Eien no Aselia. And after a year or so, at 2011 the translation was picked up by JAST and around that time until February 2013, the progress not updated much, until the last percentage seen was at 44% ie 2 years it was quite slowly working. At February 2013, they got Aroduc to translate Seinarukana, and he decided to retranslated it from very beginning. After that, well not much update except like 'mostly translated' or something like that. Oh, by the way before Aroduc took over the project, if we follow VNTL between August 2012 and February 2013 there's many months and look like the former translators decided to disappear around that time (Real life problem or not I don't know). Also looking back at TL Wiki history, the 2 old translators was leave when they about to translated Chapter 10. And I think that's all I could said in regard of the translation history. I'm sorry if I couldn't tell much, but what I remember is that when I saw the VNDB date that it'll be released on 2013, I'm waiting in vain until December, while back at 2013 JAST managed to release Yumina. Oh, back at 2015, somehow JAST managed to delay it more until April (Although guess I shouldn't be surprised here though). About the premise, we had our usual clueless MC (Setoki Nozomu), his childhood friend and the student council president who somehow love MC (And befriended MC) trapped in the other world along with some students from MC's school. And by the way, after facing some enemy MC and his friend discovered their ability to fighting the enemy, and from there they begin to searching a way to back to their own world. Oh, by the way, if you interested with the red-haired girl, she was the student council president herself (Ikaruga Satsuki). For the cast, I think I'll just give the list to some main character (According to VNDB) the picture link, since I figured including picture here would make this post very long. So, for the girls in this game, we had: Ikaruga Satsuki - The student council president that I talked earlier, and actually she was already knew her power from before the school trapped in another world. Oh, and she was kind of aggressive to get the attention from MC. As for the seiyuu, she was Shirai Ayano who voiced Olivia back in Romanesque and Nitta Cocoa in big breast nukige Bazooka Cafe. Other than that, I think mostly the VN that had her mostly untranslated Nagamine Nozomi - MC childhood friend and @CeruleanGamer waifu by the way according to her. I think she was easily angered that MC was quite oblivious to her feeling in regard of love. Also she was form some sort of rivalry with Satsuki (What's with Satsuki try to get attention from MC), and actually didn't realize that she had power like Satsuki until the school was trapped in another world. For the seiyuu, she was Aoyama Yukari (aka Akane Tomonaga) who voiced Kazami Kazuki in Grisaia franchise, Kawakami Kazuko aka Wanko in Majikoi, Oda Nobunaga in Eiyuu Senki, and Soejima Hisoka in Comyu (For non eroge she was Moribe Jun in Root Double and Inubushi Keiko in Remember11). And my comment regarding seiyuu, Aoyama was definitely more well-known to English speaking VN compared to Satsuki's seiyuu. Katima Agaias - The princess knight that MC meet in the other world, and actually want to reclaim her kingdom because her kingdom was taken over by the people who want to rule the world ruthlessly (And by the way, I'll predict that the man who took over Katima's kingdom will be That One Boss candidate to some user here). For the seiyuu, she was Sakuragawa Miku who voiced some character from old VN (ie not translated and quite old one). Euphoria - Some sort of interesting character, and had nickname Euphy. According to VNDB, she had some kind of amnesia. For the seiyuu, she was Agumi Oto (aka Gotou Mai) who voiced Angelina in Katahane, Hayama Mizuki in ef, and Takekawa Benio in Comyu. I couldn't said much about Euphy here, since it would be major spoiler from the prequel Narukana - The mysterious girl who apparently appear in MC's dream. Narukana's seiyuu was Isshiki Hikaru (aka Tanaka Ryouko) who voiced Kurugaya Yuiko in Little Busters, Sakaki Yumiko in Grisaia franchise, Neon in Gahktun, and Hinaori Kagome in Comyu. Can't said much about her either, but what I knew her route was available on 2nd playthrough. I think that's all of the info I could give for now. Anyway, had fun and once again all of the user here could using this thread as Seinarukana discussion thread. PS - Anyone else willing to translate the guide from here? If yes it would be helpful for some people who want to SS all the mission for each chapter.

  41. I prefer one that isn't actually a villain, but an antagonist. Where you question who actually is "right", if there is a right. I don't like Madness since it makes them seem like idiots, and much prefer the genius type (e.g. Maou in Gsenjou). I recently watched Avengers 2 and it was nice to see a likeable villian (Ultron), he seemed caring for his 2 human minions (at least at the start he was). A villain that is somewhat likeable, and not an evil bastard is refreshing.

  43. I understand exactly what you mean by it not feeling anything like the first arc after that arc ended, but I personally liked the direction the series went spiritually. I'm interested in the implications behind having virtual reality gaming and what it would do to general life. Between immoral things (Elfhiem Arc), gaming tournaments and everything that happened in GGO, as well as for Mother's Rosario I feel that was the Author's intent with the series, not to make "The adventures of a Virtual Reality gamer in the game" but instead the actual implementation of VR into "real" life (in the story). That's why we have Kirito going into development of this software, and I believe all the newest arc is based around more development stuff, isn't it? The author also shows a more developed feel with Accel World, which is a same universe story, just years in the future far into, instead of Virtual reality, the development of Augmented Reality. So to summarize/tl;dr. the series aims to tell a more technological based story instead of action/fantasy. Am I saying it's wrong to dislike it for that reason? Not at all, it's just something I find interesting about the series. If you don't want to see that shit, then yeah, you DO have the right to complain about the shift in focus the series took after the first arc.
