    Top 5 Anime of 2015

    1. Overlord- For various reasons... but mostly because it is just plain old fun. I mean, in an era without space operas, all that is left is fun, really... so I chose the anime I had the most fun watching this year. I rewatched every episode of this anime six times and I still enjoyed it. Not only that but the specials were hilarious. 2- Gate- This anime answers the question 'what would happen if machineguns and gunship helicopters met dragons and elves?' For me, this was a generally fun experience, especially since they didn't nerf the more graphic elements. 3- Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans- Ok, first let me state that I'm a fan of several of the Gundam series (though not all), so I'm not going to get in an argument with anti-mech anime-watchers about this. This is what I liked the most, not what you liked the most, so blech. It isn't over yet, but this series impressed me, in that it integrates some of the best elements of Gundam in general (the tendency toward dystopian societies combined with frequently spectacular mech combat but also bringing back the grittiness of some of the OVA side-stories that were often better than the big series). 4- Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou- This anime brought inspired a lot of nostalgia for me, in that this kind of anime has become kind of rare. Harem/slapstic love-comedies used to be the mainstay of non-violent anime, until about six years ago, when the numbers of them were drastically reduced. This brought back to me the 'careless comedy' that was common to those anime, and it was overall a fun ride, even if the concept is basically cliched to death. 5- Heavy Object- Yes, it is another sci-fi series... what can Is say, I like science fiction and science fantasy. Explosions, sabotage, and lots of near-death experiences for the main characters in a post-modern setting... overall, the anime is immensely enjoyable to watch, at least for me. Depending on how they choose to end it, I might knock it off the list though. Runners up- Lance n'Masques, Utwarerumono 2, Triage X, Rakudai Kishi no Cavalier (this one will take the place of Heavy Object if that anime's ending doesn't please me)

  3. Sanzen Sekai Yuugi is pretty much the only otomege I've played where the protagonist isn't a sufferer of DIDS (damsel-in-distress syndrome) to one degree or another. Asaki Yumemishi was a bit better than the usual ruck of otomege, but it still had a lot of 'classic otomege' moments. Sanzen Sekai Yuugi is pretty violent though, and the protagonist is a katana-wielding bounty hunter who tends to bring in her targets dead more often than alive. It isn't an otomege, but this: https://vndb.org/v8311 is really, really good if you can get past the prologue without puking. The protagonist starts out as a slave in the worst sense of the word and gradually - over the course of several centuries - becomes a strong woman with a long, wide streak of independence. Yes, she gets raped (nothing from this company could possibly have it any other way), but the worst of that is early on. I played it on a recommendation (an insistent one) and I didn't regret it, though the beginning is pretty freaky.

Yurikuma Arashi: No argument, it is just #1 because it is.Hibike Euphonium: It was a series with a nice development with each episode being better than the previous one.Onepunch Man: Mindless fun with great animation.Teeikyuu: Alright, we arrive at the problem, I liked Teekyuu over the rest of the anime this year except for a few, but Teekyuu is a special case so it shouldn't be in this list in the first place. That being said, Teekyuu is mindless fun with fun animation.Death Parade: If we were to take Teekyuu out, this would come 4th, it is simply what more anime should try, an episodic story with a different art direction, and not a happy ending per se.Kekkai Sensen: Same as Death Parade but much messier I guess, also, this soundtrack may be the best of the year. There are anime that should be higher on the list, but I excluded continuations, so anime like Gintama, Owarimonogatari, Biyori and Gatchaman Crowds were excluded; and since I gave 4 examples of what was excluded, well, that speaks for itself.

I'd say get it anyway. Beyond that, The Beginner's Guide is on sale too, so I'm definitely picking that up. The rest depends on a lot of stuff. I'll get Undertale anyways but I have Persona 4 Golden, Planescape Torment and Soul Sacrifice to play so I'm not exactly hurried. I'd just buy it now if it were on a good sale. This just means I'm buying it later. TORMENT! TORMENT! TORMENT! Man I love that game. I played an hour of it so far, fucking loved it, I don't want to divide my attention right now though so I'll delve in PT properly right after I finish P4G.

    Alien Heroines

Ever since the threat of being burned alive by religious fanatics was reduced to the uncommon occurrence, humanity dared to ponder whether or not intelligent life exists on planets other than our own. While I for my part have trouble to even accept that it exists on this planet, many storytellers have used aliens over the decades to express their imagination, since the possibilities with them are basically endless. Be it full-blooded science fiction (like Star Trek), sitcoms with a twist (like ALF) or ultimate muddles of garbage and confusion (like Mass Effect 3), all of those wouldn't have been possible without the existence of aliens, and if only fictional. Let's talk about aliens in our favorite format of storytelling; Porn! Dating Sims! Visual Novels! So here I am, asking the following questions to Fuwans. Feel free to answer as many as you want or ignore me and write whatever you want. 1. Do you like alien heroines? Where would you rank them among robots, cats, demons and all those other things weebs like? (overall, on a grand scope) 2. What kind of VN genre and/or story do you think is the best fit for alien characters? And which one is not, if any? 3. As soon as you learn about the alien heroine's existence, what do you expect the story (or route, if applicable) to be about? And how close do they usually play to your expectations/fears? Have fun posting. Or letting the thread sink and rott at the bottom of the VN discussion. Your choice. You can also talk about male aliens, I guess. You know, if that's your thing.

  15. FPS matters quite a lot when it comes to games like FPSs and RTSs, 1080p is more of a quality of life improvement than a necessity, but I think it also improves your overall experience since thing will naturally look smoother. If you consider both, FPS is definitely more important when you want to perform better in a fast-paced game, or just any game in general tbh. I've seen professional Starcraft 2 players streaming some ladder matches and while they keep their 1080p, they make the game run with the lowest graphics to improve their FPS. As for games not needing great specs to contend for awards: they actually do. Every now and then you get a game such as Undertale up there but that's a rare occurrence. It's not like the games that get nominated are bad, most of them pack both a great overall experience with narrative and gameplay together with good graphics. All in all, I honestly just like when my games are pretty. I'm still going to play low-budget games if I enjoy them, but great visuals sure enhance your experience if the gameplay is good by itself.

  16. I can understand if people complain about the FPS in things like MOBA's, RTS games, fighting games, shooters, but other than that I don't think it matters much. I never understood why people bitch so much about graphics, though. Also side rant, I spent way too much on my PC so that I could run every new game maxed out for the next few years, but I've only really played VN's and LoL on it. Don't waste money, kids..

Nice thread 1. Shokugeki no Souma - Simply subarashii in my eyes. This and Kimiuso are my favorite anime(s). I ended up hooked after watching the first episode, and foodgasm is really great. I'm also very fond of Nakiri Erina (tsun tsun). This anime's comedy and souma's attitude made me enjoy it a lot more. The openings and ending songs are really good too. Even now, I'm still singing and listening to "Spice". It's a really nice song. 2. Charlotte - I heard a lot of people getting disappointed with this anime, but I'm contented with it, since I was already fulfilled on episode 7. haha Episode 7 in itself is a complete story for me.. The impact of that episode alone in me was enormous.. I also want to mention that Yusarin's album is really really good (How-low-hello). I have replayed it for not less than 40 times i guess. 3. One punch Man - Superb animation and comedy. My first impression in this anime was rather weak, but eventually started to enjoy it when saitama explained how he got very strong 4. Gakkou Gurashi - Nice thrill.. Kurumi is the best girl 5. AoHaru Kikanjuu - Reminds me of OuranHSHC, so~

  20. Playing 酷罪を受けるべき者 (vndb). It's...unique. A lot of eccentric characters, but those characters are quite the focus. It's a doujin work where a high school girl (a pretty bad mannered one at that) gets vanished away to a quasi-fantasy world. Also there's guro and other horrible things happen, but the VN has a way of pulling you in. The tone isn't always dark, and the characters are really... not straightforward? Anyways, will continue reading.

    Surrogate Friendship

What blasphemy. Why isn't this in the Confessions thread? I wouldn't call the relationships I have in the internet as 'surrogate' friendships. I still consider them part of my actual social life. Sure, we're separated by hundreds of miles (or tens of kilometers only at times) and are only connected by this handy thing we call the 'internet', but that doesn't make the fun and time I spend with you guys less than what I'd experience in real life. It actually made me sad that I was unable to go to the forums and participate actively due to an active college life, which proves my point of the things I experience here being as real as the ones I experience in real life. ...I believe I strayed from the actual definition of 'surrogate' at some point there, but oh well. The point is that I love the people here as much as the ones I see everyday, even with the absence of physical contact.

Mmmmm, let's see.. top 5 of 2015 alright ^^ 5 - Kekkai Sensen : I enjoyed this one, had a good setting, good characters, outstanding music among some things so to me it deserves a spot (also good humor at times) 4 - Monster Munsume : Had a blast watching this one for it's sheer humor and likeable characters (except a few), i like the fact that this show knows what it is and does it awesomely 3 - Charlotte : I had high expectations seeing who the creator of this one is and it didn't dissapoint me (although i do admit that i expected a bit more) i loved the characters (Nao Tomori <3) once again it's a show with good humor, great animation and it's fun when it has to be and a bit dramatic when it has to aswell 2 - Noragami Aragoto : Yes, this one isn't finished yet but I already love the shit out of it as i did with the previous one..i keep on wanting more and more...love it's aestethic and story with also a fondness for it's characters which are for the most part great..overall awesome 1 - Shokugeki no Soma : Where to even start with this one..when i started watching it i had no idea what it was gonna be like and had my doubts about watching it since i've never been much into cooking animes but this one pulled me in with it's Humor and "plot" as well as it's plot (xD) again like with the previous ones i loved the characters (Nikumi and Alice <3), it was great fun and with great animation but it made me hungry watching it some times , lol Well those are my top 5, i've watched more but i wouldn't put them on a top 5, could however fit them on a top 10 if i was to make one ^^

    Alien Heroines

The only VN with aliens that I've read (that I recall...) is OsanaDai. The only alien-specific memorable moment, for me, was when Qoo said "and since she's a starship, you can come inside her as much as you want without worrying!" That I remember that moment doesn't make me especially proud. Anyway, that's obviously in reference to a heroine who's better classified as "robot" rather than "alien", but clearly applies equally to both (barring some elaborate explanation about alien biology, I suppose...). Anyway, I'll make an attempt to answer the questions, since otherwise apparently Dice will get angry, and I probably wouldn't like him when he's angry. 1. Do you like alien heroines? Where would you rank them among robots, cats, demons and all those other things weebs like? (overall, on a grand scope) I don't especially like alien heroines. After a bit of thought, my hierarchy of non-people heroines is: - robots are far and away the most interesting, maybe 1/4 because of Persona 3's Aigis, and 3/4 because artificial intelligence is a fascinating topic and I like to see it portrayed. - other weird human-proxies are roughly all on the same tier, well below robots. I think it's because I think all of these as being basically human, with a presumably different upbringing, rather than fundamentally different; as long as they're all organic, free-range, sentient beings, they're all on a roughly equal footing. Since two actual humans can also have radically different back-stories, given the proper story and setting, none of these human-proxies bring anything so fundamentally different to the table, unlike robots. 2. What kind of VN genre and/or story do you think is the best fit for alien characters? And which one is not, if any? This seems pretty straightforward - I defer to Eclipse's well-formulated answer. 3. As soon as you learn about the alien heroine's existence, what do you expect the story (or route, if applicable) to be about? And how close do they usually play to your expectations/fears? No expectations, really; I've only seen the one VN with aliens (OsanaDai), and it was not the kind of game that would let me draw conclusions about how other games would use that kind of character, unless the answer is supposed to be "I expect it to be a gimmick".

  28. yes would love seeing that happen too. & surprisingly some of the titles of their do have a decent amount of plot to them, like in inýouchuu kyou, or etsu for example. as for i, i´m long since past the point where i got myself turned on by reading ero-scenes, so i do it mostly to distrct myself from various hardships, to find something visually appealing that can be converted into food design-wise, or whatever reason there is. to me, nukige, or sexual acts in general are a form of art that can or cannot be enjoyed reading through just like any other story, depending on the quality of its writing, with hana to hebi beeing one of the very best examples which i can possibly think of. edit. regrettably this particular title seems to have been quite the bad pick, when looking at the reactions i get from those other pretend to be innocent passengers surrounding the poor me :/

  29. I actually really like the idea of the blanket - I live in a rather cold climate - and also keep the heat low to save on cash. So having a blanket with my waifu on it while I'm just taking it easy at home would be pretty sweet. Can't decide if I'd want it to be lewd or safe though... Customs office where I live can be pretty heavy-handed when it comes to anything anime. =/ Goes without saying it should be Iris, regardless :3

  34. I'd love to see some of these sexy alien babes in a VN. 10/10, would bang with glee Any of you into petite, loli aliens? Well, here's one. Here's a nice, sexy, NSFW closeup, too. Enjoy~ I'd honestly like to see a more realistic, serious portrayal of humanoid aliens (no weird-ass goo monsters >.< ) in a VN. The ones I've seen are mostly just there as jokes, or are in a comedic VN, and as such, aren't really realistic or interesting.

    Neko-rabu #1

None of my incarnations has ever been very good at pretending to be nice. Yes, that is an understatement, from a purely objective perspective. However, when you are a sentient universe-eating monster that used to be a fat, bald otaku from a frontier planet in a rather pathetic galaxy in an even more pathetic universe, it is kind of hard to understand how to be ‘nice’. Understand, I was just out to have a few drinks, perhaps eat some of the more nasty criminals that infested the city of Neo Lovenia, and maybe find a few people worth loving… I had no intention of getting involved in something so utterly boring as a slum-dwellers’ riot when I left the sewer-level apartment I’d chosen more out of memories of a certain child’s cartoon back ‘home’ than any practical reasons. Unfortunately, as with most matters involving mortals, I wasn’t exactly given a choice whether to get involved or not. Especially when a really pretty girl hidden under the rags of a filthy slum-dwelling piece of mortal trash was tossed off a bridge, straight into my arms… That, in and of itself, would not have been much of a problem. On any other day, I would have simply eaten the girl, made her into one of my trillions of immortal servants, then gone on about the business of getting myself debauched in the biggest city on one of the most degenerate planets in all of that particular universe. Unfortunately, the men in the silly blue robes with the magic staffs had the bad taste to try to blast me with lightning bolts, probably thinking I was one of the girl’s allies. Since this verged on that most terrible of all sins, incivility, I decided to retaliate in kind. It wasn’t my fault that the fragile matter of that particular space-time continuum wasn’t up to the task of withstanding the equivalent of a sigh of exasperation from me. The bridge, the rioting slum-dwellers in their filthy rags, and the entire unit of what passed for police on that particular sorry excuse for a civilized world, were suddenly wiped from existence, along with a large portion of the surrounding streets and buildings… and a perfect half-sphere of the water running through the reservoir below. Needless to say, I was somewhat dismayed. While I tended to devour all sorts of nasty things in my true form, I generally refrained from drinking the water on planets like that one… one could never tell just what was in it, after all. The oily taste of rotten fish and the bits of effluvia that tended to infest the waters on backward worlds like this one filled my mouth, reminding me of why I generally refrained from such activities when in mortal form. The girl in my arms was quite unconscious, and I was briefly tempted to just toss her in the river and be done with it… but she was also unreasonably pretty underneath all that grime. So pretty, in fact, that she reminded me of my own mortal days, when I spent most of every day staring at a computer screen at animated beauty because the world around me was so ugly. As such, I believe that it is only reasonable that I should be forgiven for deciding to refrain from eating her before I got to know her. Once an erogamer, always an erogamer, after all. Having returned to my home, such as it was, I found myself at a loss. Being a sensible creature, I’d long-since arranged for my own pocket dimension full of all the creature comforts to follow me wherever I went, and there was no chance of trouble from the outside entering without my permission. Unfortunately, I had seemingly lost my wits, deciding to bring a mere mortal child, however pretty, to my sanctum, full of walls of eroge, anime blu-rays, and video games from every era of my pox-infested homeworld’s technological age. As such, I was quite well-aware that my home wasn’t exactly suitable for the inhabitance of beings of the female persuasion. The nightmare of many otakus yet to obtain the power of true enlightenment, of taking a girlfriend home only for her to find out about his hidden passions and reject him furiously, briefly raised its head. I shook my head, smiling somewhat wryly at my rather prosaic worry. After all, if all else failed I could always eat the girl anyway. Pretty as she was, she would be even prettier with glowing orange eyes and a bear-trap smile full of endless hunger. However, now that I had refrained from eating her once, I found it difficult to consider doing so anyway. I am nothing if not stubborn, as a particularly bone-headed (literally) Neanderthal discovered when we got into a headbutting contest during one of my many pleasure trips to my homeworld’s distant past. So it was that I found myself transforming the girl’s rags into a simple kimono (again, once a weaboo, always a weaboo), cleaning her body by the simple expedient of turning all non-living matter on the surface of her skin into quick-evaporating anti-bacterial soap. Why did I have to inherit the original’s otaku-obsessions? I wondered, feeling a bit exasperated. All of the avatars made by the original have their own quirks and individual leanings, though the essential nature of the being we represent is unchangeable. However, I am one of the few unfortunates to have inherited the original’s ‘hobby’ and tastes. The one thing all of us inherit is ‘hunger’. It takes different forms, depending on the individual, but all of us eat people. If it is the simple fondness one might have for their favorite meal, the result tends to be what most mortal races would call a ‘monster’. The individual’s basic personality survives being eaten… but their body and their desires are changed drastically. In the billions of years since my maker had eaten this particular universe, I’d come to understand just how differently our emotions toward those we eat effect various species. If we happened to actually know and like the person in question, the result that came out the other side was generally superficially unchanged… after all, the more we know and like someone, the less likely we are to want to turn them into a duplicate of ourselves. But I digress. I was speaking of our ‘hunger’. In some cases it manifests as lust, in others it manifests as greed, in some it manifests as sadism, and yet in others it can manifest as a desire to kill. It isn’t always negative… if it was, very few universes would have managed to survive our presence. In my case, it is pride, the desire for recognition given free reign. Need I state how paradoxical my otaku hobbies and my ‘hunger’ are? I’ve not quite gone so far down that path as the original went… so I’m not about to proudly state that I love eroge to the world. Unfortunately, that meant that I was generally forced to hide my hobbies on whatever world I chose to use as a foothold at a given time. As such, I vanished the various otaku paraphernalia in the room, transforming the walls into something resembling the inside of a castle lord’s room from the Middle Ages (imagined by me), with a four-poster canopied bed, deep purple silk sheets, covering the walls with bookshelves filled old-fashioned hand-written, hand-bound books in the local language (translated in an instant). As a bow to my ever-present weabooism, I left the katana and wakizashi hanging sheathed on nails driven into the wall and the set of samurai armor I’d created in one of my all-too-common fits of obsessive madness on its stand in the corner of the room closest to the heavy varnished-wood door. I took another look at the girl and sighed deeply. Her fuzzy black cat ears and silky black tail attracted my otaku-obsessions like a fly to honey, and the fact that she was a Japanese-style bishoujo only made it worse (considering the whole reason this universe had been devoured was because the original found out there were naturally-occurring cat-people there). The urge to eat her was briefly overwhelming, but it soon receded, tamed by certain… other feelings. Unlike the original, I have some restraint, after all. I picked her up, threw her over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and carried her over to the bed, where I dropped her, covering her with a down-filled quilt I materialized out of thin air. Her white, oh-so-white skin which contrasted so wonderfully with her midnight-black hair once again invited me to dine upon my guest, but I had little difficulty suppressing the urge this time. That done, I picked a random book off of the shelves and began reading, Hmm… Waylander by Gemmel… my original’s tastes are a bit predictable. I reflected as I waited for her to wake. The story was about a kingslayer assassin, and it was written by one of the original’s childhood favorite authors. While the story started as a straightforward revenge story, describing the rapid collapse of the man who became Waylander into the worst pits of human nature, it was still an enjoyable read… very much like cheap fantasy junk food. A few hours later, I sensed her stirring in the bed, her ears twitching and her breathing becoming shallower. An instant later, she shot upright, screaming. Irritated, I created a sound barrier around her head and waited for her to stop. The cat-like ears of the native form I was using were highly sensitive, and her screaming could have awakened the dead. I observed her closely, seeing that her wide, unfocused eyes were a large, brilliant emerald in color and her teeth had the prominent canines that distinguished her visually from humankind, together with her ears and tail. Eventually, her eyes focused, and her screaming stopped, and I released the sound barrier, waiting for her to speak. “…w…wh…who are you?” She asked in obvious confusion, her voice hoarse, most likely from the screaming. “My name is Clephas.” I replied, giving her what I thought was a gentle, reassuring smile.

I guess I can recommend you play games like Age of Empires, civilization, etc that portray many history in a humane and realistic manner from many different perspectives. Age of Empires 2 was actually what got me really into history, so I'd recommend that game in particular over other titles

I have not watched all of these, but I have had people recommended them to me. (Some may be too "girly" for certain tastes.) Kanojo X Kanojo X Kanojo (My favorite) Spocon! The story of 15 beautiful girls I trust my girlfriend Princess Marriage Feud Princess Limited Fiancé Quartet Celeb Kano Maki-chan Now: Girl Fainting in Agony If you're looking for more of a erotica type (focused on emotions) then I'd recommend something like Nozoki Ana. Also, I saw these on another site recommended, mostly borderline H with plot: My Balls Sakuranbo Syndrome Virgin Na Kankei Virgin Na Kankei R Nozoki Ana My Lovely Ghost KANA Leona Explosion Koi wo Suru no ga Shigoto desu. Velvet Kiss Toshiue no Hito Sense. Pink de Pink My Doll House Momoiro Sango Kono S wo, Mi yo! Koibana Onsen Honeymoon Salad Aki-Sora My Lovely Ghost KANA Yomeiro Choice Yuria 100 Styles Hope this helps. ^_^'
