  1. Confession: It's happening. Tomorrow I'm packing my bags and leaving to Hawaii with the woman and child. In the past month I have ironed out almost 95% of our issues with her. The only thing left to worry about is the true confession - we realize those left behind have the right to know the truth. As we settle in our place and I find security for both the woman and the child, we will begin telling our families and her husband. Then, we will accept whatever comes our way, ready to live our lives from thereon. Confession: I have a crushing pain in my chest right now and I'm not sure if it's a heart attack or acid reflux bloating.

    Fuwanovel Confessions

You asked for it Confession: When I was living in western Canada, I worked at McDicks. Pretty much everyone who worked there was a student, so things were kinda hectic, but like... in the best way. Anyway, one day I was doing stuff in the back and one of the assistant managers (by the way, she was also a student... a year younger than myself actually) started talking to me about random shit. She started doing some stuff beside me and the conversation just kinda flowed at it's own will. I don't know how it happened, but eventually we got on the topic of sex and out of the blue* she asked if I was a virgin. At the time, I was not, so I told her the truth of "no". I guess she was expecting a different answer, which kinda hurt, but whatever. xD We started talking about random sex experiences (even though we had both only had one partner at the time) and that was what planted the seeds of what was to come. Damn though, she was definitely a looker. To make a long story short though: a bunch of other conversations - dick size comes up - she doesn't believe me - slick lines from The Lino - get invited to a huge party. She drove me in, and the party was huge. There was approximately ninety people there, so it was easily the largest party I had ever been to. So yeah, I get there, have a few drinks (and somehow get my hands on some guy's whiskey) and socialized for a bit. Party progressed, and we ended up talking on her front steps. Conversation flowed and eventually she invited me back to her tent. So that is how that came about. Oh yes, another interesting bit from that night. I also got together with her sister about thirty minutes to an hour later, who incidentally, I later learned was a bank teller at my bank (gotta love living in a town of ten thousand). Would go more into that, but there isn't much to say, so I'll just leave it at that. Satisfied, Chewy? Edit: Fuck. Did I really just post this...?

First, I should probably address those who questioned why I never played this VN before... the answer is that I did try this VN 'way back when' and couldn't get past the prologue. To be frank, the prologue of this VN is pretty... unimpressive. However, once you get past that prologue, you are put into what probably amounts to the best nakige I've ever played. This VN is a kinetic novel, with only a single ending. It combines elements of mythology, mystery, fantasy, and psychological horror (relatively mild) into a single whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. For those who love Araragi (to be honest, I think all of those who read this VN love Araragi) more than Hiyo... my condolences. There is only one path and it is Hiyo's. The child-version of Hiyo in the pic above is part of one of my favorite early scenes in the VN and the scene that pretty much locked in my love of the characters as a whole. I'm a sucker for appeals to emotions like the ones in this VN, and there is very little in this VN that doesn't appeal to your emotions on some level. The warmth and kindness of the three girls closest to the protagonist and the dynamic between the four of them is central to most of the story. While Hiyo-love indeed has a big impact on the story, romance in this VN is ultimately merely one of many themes, ranging from the obvious 'love of art' and 'autumn', to 'the nature of kindness'. For those who have seen the opening song on youtube... you should probably be aware that the entire OST for this VN is on that level or better. Like many of the best VNs out there, the musical direction and the choice of music in general is superb... a work of art. There are many Chinese-classical and hybrid Japanese-classical themes mixed in with various other types, and this adds to the atmosphere created by the 'old Japan' design of the school and dorms where all the events of the story take place. These aspects, combined with the plentiful expressions and poses given to the characters' tachie, are used effectively to create the 'personality' of the VN as a whole. The most important way to evaluate VNs that fall into the 'nakige' category is how much they made you love the characters, thus giving you a reason to cry for them. In that sense, I can honestly say that it leaves almost every nakige I've played in the dust (including all of Key's). The lack of massive casts of heroines and multiple paths serves to make every occurrence in this VN feel 'real', adding more impact to the sorrow, joy, hope, and pride that continually break your heart. I can honestly say that I feel Propeller used the 'kinetic novel' format to its fullest, succeeding in creating a story with an impact far in excess of what it would have possessed if it had been a multi-path story. Now... I feel it is about time I stopped praising this VN and spoke about the one issue that bothered me, even after I finished it... ... it truly amazed me how bad the VN is during the initial stages. It feels awkward and forced, and that sense of 'eh, what were they trying to do here?!' is so strong at first that it was enough to make me drop this five years ago without a second thought. Of course, back then I hadn't been as thoroughly 'trained' by years of playing moege that are far worse than this... but it is still a flaw in an otherwise awesome VN. That said, once it gets started, this VN is really, really hard to put down. Overall, the only people I can't recommend this to are the extreme moe and dark fantasy fans. For all that the designs are most definitely moe, the degree to which the characters suffer in this VN will be a bit much for the soft-moe addicts. For the dark fantasy fans... you'll probably be a bit put off by a lack of action and murder. This VN has precisely one action scene that would interest that type... and it isn't that long (though it is important to the story in general). Everyone else? If you can make it past the prologue, I can guarantee you'll fall in love with the characters, even if other aspects bother you.

  6. This is a list of good games to begin your journey into playing VNs in Japanese. Inevitably, most of these games will be moege, charage, or nakige. There is little to be done about this, as chuuni, sci-fi, and fantasy-action VNs have linguistic barriers that will be too much for someone still struggling with reading conversational Japanese. In particular, the biggest barrier for someone who is used to dealing with Japanese that is 'spoken', rather than 'written' is the existence of literary Japanese. The turns of phrase, different wording, etc. that an inexperienced reader might run into can either be seen as a learning experience or as pure confusion, depending on your level and state of mind. As such, I am only putting down games that are readable for someone who understands spoken Japanese but is weaker in literary Japanese. I will also put a 'second level' for those who are interested in challenging themselves a little but not too much. This one will be for those who are willing to see if they can handle the easier action scenes, more difficult event descriptions, and the like. First Level: Maji Suki Marginal Skip Suzunone Seven Kamikaze Explorer Tsuisou no Augment (this game is hilarious, and it is not a moege. I recommend this to people who liked the atmosphere of Yume Miru Kusuri) Akabanzu - Real na Sekai de Boku ga Kimi ni Dekiru Koto (this game has only minor scientific terms and jargon, mostly related to AI and MMO's. Since it is distinctly possible you ran into these terms just watching anime, I went ahead and put this up.) Chuning Lover (this game is just generally rofl) Ichiban Janakya Dame Desu Ka (one of the few almost-pure comedy in my personal lineup) Otomimi Infinity Sakura Iro Quartet (this and the game above are for mimikko fetishists) Ryuusei Kiseki (sci-fi moege, fairly easy. Hardest parts are when the protag begins preaching about his hobby) Shiawase Kazoku-bu Sukimazakura to Uso no Machi (surrealist fantasy moege... mildly funny, interesting in general) Toppara - Zashikiwarashi no Hanashi (use this as your crash course in youkai) 12/30/2014 edit Love Revenge Real Imouto ga Iru Ooizumi-kun no Baai 08/15/2016 Edit Sakigake Generation Minamijuujisei Renka Primal Hearts Primal Hearts 2 World Election Koko Kara Natsu no Innocence Second Level: Irotoridori no Sekai (yeah, it is being translated, but it isn't done yet) Konata yori Kanata Made (relatively low-difficulty action/event scenes, as well as being an excellent entry point into the utsuge genre) Tiny Dungeon series (relatively normal conversational and event scenes, and the actions scenes are relatively low-difficulty, if somewhat fast-paced) Draculius (similar to above in the action) Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no (this game is probably one of the top three non-action/sci-fi/fantasy games I've played and it is harder than the games on the first level... but in exchange it is also a lot better, lol) Hyper→Highspeed→Genius (relatively high difficulty to first level, but it is easier than the games I'd prefer to introduce people to, lol) Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate - The Code Name is "Shield 9" (fanboys of fantranslations know this as one of the many dead projects) Ore no Tsure wa Hitodenashi Kaminoyu (this one and the one above are your source for non-human love in this stage, lol) Otome ga Tsumugu, Koi no Canvas (higher difficulty than first level primarily due to the art terms) Aete Mushisuru, Kimi to no Mirai Akatsuki no Goei (first one only, later ones are too hard for Second Level) Re: birth Colony Lost Azurite (this, Tiny Dungeon, and Draculius are probably the hardest games on this list) Fake Azure Arcology (direct link to the game above, and ditto) Kimi to Boku to Eden no Ringo Koiiro Soramoyou (famous for certain VN fanboys) Kimi to Boku to no Kishi no HIbi (recent release, fairly easy, good protag) Lunaris Filia (a vampire charage, for those who want some of that) Naka no Hito nado Inai!! Tokyo Hero Project Dracu-riot Sakura Tale Tojita Sekai no Tori Colony (this game is pretty hilarious, especially if you insist on seeing all of the loop ends before getting to the true end) Tsuki ni Yorisou, Otome no Sahou (similar to Koi no Canvas, in that the terms that will give you the most trouble are the technical ones - this time for sewing and clothing design) 12/30/2014 edit Zannen na Oretachi no Seishun Jijou Kimi no Tonari de Koishiteiru Sekai wo Sukuu Dake no Kantan na Shigoto Nanairo Reincarnation (borderline within this if you are familiar with the base concepts of youkai and ghosts as understood by the Japanese) Sakigake Generation Edit: This will be the last in my series of lists. I will edit them with additions occasionally, but I won't be making any new ones. Have fun yall.

There are 10+ major endings and numerous minor variations but there is no "true ending" or correct answer. It's your investigation. It's up to you to determine what's true and what isn't. It's up to you to decide how justice is best served. All possible endings are available on your first play through, although we would encourage you to play through multiple times to explore other endings and learn more about the characters you meet. Screenshots: Progress: Writing : 10% Programming: 50% Backgrounds: 10% Characters: 5% Audio: Not started We are currently aiming to bring the game to Kickstarter in January 2016. Feedback: All feedback is welcomed (within forum rules). Jobs: We're not currently in need of any assistance, but if you have mad skills in art, writing, or audio design, you're welcome to drop a link to your portfolio. How can you help? The game is still very early in development. The art style for characters and backgrounds is pretty much set. Everything else is still very much up for discussion, and we would love to hear your views, thoughts, opinions and ramblings. We also need as much help as we can get spreading the word. We want feedback early and often and we plan on releasing several demos at various stages of production. The more people we can get feedback from, the better we can make the game. What do you like about the game? What don't you like? What concerns do you have? What features are must-have for you in a visual novel? What would you like to hear from us? We're going to be posting a lot of pictures, discussions and features about the game on Tumblr and Twitter but rather than just posting what we want to say, it would be great to know what you would find interesting.

  9. I wouldn't say it's a certainty that the game won't happen. NickyD [author] 21 hours ago @Polleywogg93: Worry not! The game will absolutely become a reality no matter the outcome, but if the KS doesn't quite make it, the game may take a while longer to develop as we'll need to secure funding ourselves. I hope that helps, and thank you for the vote!

  11. I can't believe I missed out on this thread last week or two. This is my favourite game. They probably won't do it justice. I'm positive the remake won't be as good as the original, knowing the writer and composer have passed away, and I hear the drawing style kind of changed: almost nothing today beats classic-anime-style from decades ago in my opinion~ (about that, do you guys know any modern works that tries to recreate the 80's or 90's style?) About my thoughts on the Remake: The Good: The remake could potentially raise the awareness of the initial version to newcomers, making the original Yu-No more popular. The Bad: Newcomers will likely play the seemingly degraded remake first before looking for/trying out the Original that made it a classic to begin with. I can't judge yet, but their first experience might turn out less epic that way. I really want to look at the visuals, but I'm currently typing from College. Both links are blocked-out on my end, so I'll have to wait until I get home. I only saw a single sprite on Google Images that appeared to be Ayumi. It's genetic looking; it looks like a typical modern style that's a bit more on the cartoony side with a touch of chibi-ness, which sadly I think takes a bit of realism out from the environmental looks of the original. The plot, the characters, the 90's style, the flowchart and especially the music were initially my favourite parts of the game (basically every aspects, you can tell eh? ), but I've yet to listen to the remake of any of the songs. In the end though, whether it's as good as the original (kind of doubting) or not, I'll still play it for remeniscence, for sure~ EDIT: I looked at the new sprites. I'm not a big fan of the new look... but that won't stop me from playing it anyway since the original Yu-No is still my favourite story of all time. About Yu-No's ears:

  13. Okay, but I'm only gonna go into my lighter stuff. I would probably die if I dived into one of my more embarrassing moments. So yeah, I told my friend about this crush I had on a girl in our class. He was joking around saying I should tell her I love her, but I thought he was being serious. So, without having a lot of prior engagements, I go up to the girl and boldly declare my love for her. She's kinda the shy type, so her face explodes in a vibrant red color and is rendered speechless. Very shortly afterwards, she briskly walks off without saying anything back to me. I go back to my friend and ask "hey, did I do it wrong?" and he said "dude, I was just joking!". That bastard had the meanest grin on his face too. So yeah, after that I had gained the valuable wisdom of how not to get a girlfriend.

I see what you did there. That's not something I can answer, you'll have to ask him yourself. I already get enough tough questions from Kosaki... Hmm... well, there's nothing that proves he dosen't exist, and the same for proving he does. I don't really believe in either. Maybe it was by chance from some reaction in space, or maybe God is real. Who knows? I'm not gonna question why we're here though, we're here and that's all I need to know. Not really, we live just to live. I don't think so. Unless space is the stomach of that creature. In which case, I guess we would be of help to it. Who knows? We haven't explored all of space. There will probably be a war, because humans will be humans.

    Hello everyone!

here are some recommendations from me then. Fate/stay night is a must play. It is nothing like the anime thing that carries its name. (well we do now in the unlimited blade works adaption) And we just have a new patch that has translated the realta nua version of the game. (wich is an all ages game so it does away with the H stuff and replaces it by something else) http://vndb.org/v11 Tsukihime Another must play, and no this one does not have a anime adaption. http://vndb.org/v7 (it is ancient, got no voice and no music. But it is so good) Muv Luv series, now Muv Luv extra is not that good and Unlimited is merely good but alternative is definitly a must read and to understand it completely you need to have read these two first. (I so hope muv luv alternative get's an anime adaption at some point) http://vndb.org/v93 (extra/unlimited) yes they are packed into one game http://vndb.org/v92 (alternative) g senjou maou Is also a must read. http://vndb.org/v211 clannad is also a must read and is together with fate/stay night one of the vn flagships, muv luv can possible also be considered a flagship. http://vndb.org/v4 Other than that there is Grisaia no Kajitsu wich is also a must read. (By the way, no panty shots in this one, just sex jokes by amane instead) http://vndb.org/v5154.

  23. Check out this lexicon of VN terminology the community made a while back. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yfMIKXtfCFnZgcgRN_-34B8CdSTRE2FwDrvT4gCPP-s/edit According to this, moege is a "type of game with many moe characters", with moe meaning *deep breath* "The word “moe” doesn’t have a concrete meaning and can be used in a variety of ways. Usually the word is used to describe a form of pseudo-love for a fictional character and their traits (both physical and psychological). These traits are usually defined as cute and adorable. In a more colloquial way, it’s a word to express the cuteness and charm of a particular character and their personal traits as well as express love for said character/traits." ~~ Rise is best girl

  33. Man, those new characters sprites, it seems that not only Tsukihime suffers from severe regression. I don't even want to think about the new soundtrack, YU-NO's main composer is dead and I doubt his genius could be easily reproduced. And "remastering" the old 16-bit music would make it lose its appeal. As for the translation, the TLWiki's one is already great.

    H-scene clichés

Would be fun to see more decent h-scenes with characters passing out with joy. Another annoying issue with eroge, is the sole fact, that one of the characters is almost always either treated as a reward, or a victim, not as a real partner in sex. This plagues basically the whole visual novel storywriting and isn't limited to eroge. I've only seen a couple of visual novels where partners stand on equal terms, no matter their characteristics (specific story elements aside; it's obviously not meant to happen, when sex is a result of rape). This is also one of the reasons h-scenes in most eroge tend to be ridiculously unrealistic, dull and/or hilarious; because writers do not consider their characters and sex scenes turn more into a drag, rather than an integral part of the storyline with a meaning and character development.

    H-scene clichés

Can one really make a fellatio scene non generic? I also still want to figure out how male protagonists can deny the refractory period during intercourse. If I consider they're non human we can also assume it's a parasitic form lodged in their genitals that cancels the negative feedback going from their genitals to their brains, allowing continuous orgasms as well as an insane amount of fluids to be secreted from a portal to another dimension where there's an unlimited amount of it.

They also have multiple orgasms in a short span of time which is physically impossible due to the human body's phisiology. The creatures in eroge which we often refer to as male protagonists have a portal to a different dimension in their genitals that allows for unlimited storage of fluids. They also deny negative feedback in their brains which allows for multiple orgasms. They are not human.

    Ayakashibito

Ayakashibito VNDB Summary In face of human technological advancement during the Meiji Restoration, the youkai of Japan were forced to make a hard decision: 1) To remain as youkai and watch over the land 2) To return to the netherworld 3) To give up their power and status as youkai and live amongst humans. While there were some that chose otherwise, the majority of the youkai decided it was best to become human. It was tough, but as time passed these youkai were able to blend in with the human world and live peacefully amongst them. However, blood is thicker than water. The offspring of these youkai displayed the powerful abilities of their ancestors in times of great anxiety, often manifesting in horrible and dangerous ways, and were labeled by society as monsters. Officially their condition was named "Acquired Systemic Special Heredity variety Syndrome", or "ASSHS" for short and treated as a non-contagious illness, but the common people began to refer to them as Jinyous (half-youkai) nevertheless. Of these Jinyous, most were sent to Kamizawa City: an isolated urban area walled off from the rest of Japan to keep all the Jinyous together and away from the human population. However, the ones that were deemed especially dangerous were sent to a medical facility on an uncharted island near the shores of Japan where they would be under constant surveillance. Takabe Ryouichi was one of those who were sent to said island at the age of five. This is a story about him along with the girl called Suzu, his only friend on the island, escaping to Kamizawa city to live a normal life. What they didn’t expect was that Suzu carried a secret that attracted much unwanted attention… Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order Recommended route order: Touko -> Tonya -> Kaoru -> Suzu Note that finishing all endings won't get give you 100% CG. If you want all CG you have to play the Tonya Route again and choose the other options at the end: I think it's fine if it's just a while Eat Suzu's lunch box first Call Suzu All routes have to be completed before choices that lead to Suzu Kisaragi's route are unlocked. Route Guideline Touko Ichinotani End 1 End 2 Bad End Tonya (Antonina Antonovna Nikitina) End Kaoru Iizuka End Suzu Kisaragi End 1 End 2 End 3 Attribution This walkthrough is based on info attained from blog meido with some adjustments made by me.
