The New Fuwanovel (Now Extra Salty)
mattroks101 and 12 others reacted to Nosebleed for a topic
A lot of you are aware of Fuwanovel's undergoing several changes lately. Well today I'd like to announce some big annoucements to get you all riled up for the upcoming age of Fuwanovel. We heard the cries of many of our users throughout the history of Fuwanovel, so we think it's about time we address all of them. Since we no longer have torrents, we're basically dead, and thus we have decided to change our domain once again to http://fuwanovel.rip which will feature several pictures of alpacas for our users to picture themselves hugging and feeling better about themselves. Now onto the new forum fretures. First off I'm proud to annouce we have partnered up with Domino's Pizza Japan and will from this day on host pizza giveaways every week. You pay for the shipping though. Threads on Fuwanovel will now have double the amount of salt as they used to have. We figured our users really like salt after extensive research in our laboratories, and thus we decided to create bot accounts in order to troll all of our users so we can produce more salt for everyone to enjoy! Fuwanovel decided to branch off of regular visual novels and will now also be featuring nukige in its catalogue. Since we know our users are very sexually frustrated, we thought it'd be a great idea to help them by providing copious amounts of Japanese two dimensional child pornography. Due to the uprising of the Love Live faction, we have decided to create the subdomain http://lovelive.fuwanovel.net which will be solely dedicated to discussing love live and posting random pictures. We have also talked to JC Staff and have acquired licensing rights to Milky Holmes, which we will use to put advertisements of all over our website. The pulltop yakuza has reported to us that Run is still not unbanned. We're very proud of this fact and will keep up the efforts to let Run remain banned for the glory of Scott. And last but not least, one of our amzing users, solidbatman, will be having a monthly event where he dresses up in only an apron and prepares pancakes for the entire Fuwanovel community. We hope these annoucements excite you, we've worked very hard to make Fuwanovel what its users wanted it to be, and we hope to keep having your support from now on. Stay awesome, and have some fun with Miku! これはエイプリル・フールのうそです。真面目にしないで下さい。13 points -

Hello guys, i have been playing vns for a while (about a year) and my friend sakamoto joined so he asked me to join too. I have been getting the links of vns and the translations from fuwanovel I hope to get along with you all.1 point -
Oh well. I'll be analyzing my first post on this forum because it has been a year (and nine days) since I registered. It is my introduction post and... Oh well, here we go. _________________________________ Hi guys and gals! I'm 14 and I'm from Turkey. 15 and a half now, still in this shithole of a country Well, I am currently reading my third ever visual novel, but the second one I read became my favorite "video game" of all time so my respect for this genre is already immense. Yep, VLR is still my favorite, but counting the shittiest ones and the shortest ones I think I read around 15 by now Let's see a short history: -snip begin- Everything started when I learned about 999:Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors- a DS visual novel in which 9 people have to escape a sinking ship while playing a twisted game called "Nonary Game"(you learn what it means in the game) where you have to solve puzzles, separate and find each other again, and feign death itself. I had to play using an emulator(the game is unavailable in Europe, let alone Turkey) but it still left a huge impact on me. The characters, setting, story(gameplay, not so much)... That game has a sequel called Virtue's Last Reward. It's out for 3DS and PS Vita, and it is A-MA-ZING: Another Nonary Game takes place a year later in a facility no one knows the purpose of. However, there is a huge twist: To escape, you must get through a number 9 door which opens only ONCE- and to get it to open, you have to trust these strangers with your life-or betray them. It has incredible puzzles, flawless story, great graphics and incredible voice acting. Near the end, I realized I was laughing hysterically because the plot twists were so good. My favorite game. Ever. Once I finished that, I researched for the author's other works and I stumbled upon the Infinity series. The most popular and interesting one was Ever17-the story of how 6 strangers got stranded in an underwater theme park deemed to implode in 120 hours. I checked out the others too(Never7 and Remember11) but I decided to read Ever17 first and that is what I am doing right now. -snip end- okay so in this part we see how little faith I had in you guys' VN knowledge, giving brief explanations of the games instead of a VNDB link and shit. cheeky, old me. also it seems I could have been a mighty PR representative for Spike Chunsoft also I finished Ever17 around 10-11 months ago ---mini edit- -- I also watched Danganronpa's anime if that counts, couldn't manage to get an emulator working and I don't have PSP or a Vita and I won't for a long time. took me nine more fucking months to get a Vita and a whole fucking year to get the first DR game ---mini edit over--- Nice to meet you all, and may we have many nice days together! ***HUGE EDIT*** I figured that I could tell more about myself... So here it goes: the part where I... kinda introduce myself I love love love rock and metal music- anything and(nearly) everything between Rainbow and Metallica is loved by me. this part is the same I have a passion of reading fiction books-mostly teenage fiction(though not much related to romance). stopped nowadays for the most part for whatever reason My biggest passion of all: Video games. The best way to have fun in my opinion. My favorite genres: Story-driven FPS&FPSRPG's(Portal, Bioshock, Half-Life, System Shock 2 etc.) and Visual Novels (Zero Escape, Danganronpa), Platformers& Sidescrollers, Indie(Binding Of Isaac, Terraria... etc.) I like Nintendo, though besides my laptop I only have a 3DS and an original DS, I would love to have a Vita. the last one, I now do. The others are still, well, there. But I also love dark H now, so there's that Otherwise, not much that I dwell in- starting guitar lessons tomorrow though, so I got that going for me, which is nice. Oh, and I love Nutella. the said guitar lessons were not very effective thanks to me giving minuscule amounts of shit to practice at home ***HUGE EDIT OVER*** what happened then: finished ever17, then remember11, then Umineko, then I just kinda went on... Found dark H, lowered my grades, lowered my interpersonal activity, got negligibly better at guitar, tried to learn Japanese and managed to keep at it for two whole days, tried to translate a book into English from Turkish and managed to keep at that for two whole weeks, spent a whole year's savings on english fiction books half of which I have not even read yet, got a part time job in summer to buy a vita, bought a vita six months afterwards, matured as a person (somewhat), maybe got a girlfriend now ...that's kinda it, it seems hopefully I've been a memorably nice person to at least one or two of you bonus: /index.php?/topic/3884-the-story-is-just-beginning-for-only-i-am-in-the-vn-loop/?hl=for+only">the OP1 point

Anekouji Naoko to Gin'iro no Shinigami part 1: Common and Kirsti
starlessn1ght reacted to Clephas for a blog entry
A few words before I dig into the common route. Minato-soft is known primarily for its comedy/drama large-scale charages, Majikoi and Tsujidou-san. These two are characterized by a unique style of characterization that goes more for comic relief than is standard with most VN-makers, as well as a tendency toward over-powered heroines who can take on the world by themselves (all three main heroines of Tsujidou, Momoka in Majikoi, and Kirsti in this one). This one is no exception, so those who played Majikoi will probably be unsurprised by the 'feel' of the character and character interactions. Common Route On the other hand, unlike other Minato-soft VNs, this one's common route takes up over half of the game as a whole (close to to two-thirds). With another company this would probably not be so much of a downer, but considering the degree to which Minato-soft wrote each main heroine route on a medium to large scale in each of its previous works, this was more than a little disappointing. The common route is fairly long (think about 1.2 times as long as the average moege/charage common route) and is mostly made up of familiar Minatosoft-style fights, slice-of-life, etc. However, despite the fact that the bulk of the game is in the common route, it doesn't feel like there is all that much substance to it, sadly. Kirsti I'll be blunt. Kirsti herself is basically a Finnish Momoka with the best elements of Tsujidou and Rena grafted on (in other words, she has Momoka's type of power, with the other two's leadership capabilities). So, don't be surprised if she feels familiar after only a few scenes, because you aren't imagining it. Sadly, her route is... bland. Once actually on her path, I finished it in around an hour and a half... and there was none of the really cool drama I'm accustomed to seeing from main heroines in Minato Soft's games. They are either setting this game up for another huge fandisc or they departed from the best part of their formula, for whatever reason. For Next time Look forward to Naoko's and the Harem route next time.1 point -

HEY HAS ANYBODY NOTICED THE NEW BANNER?
Kosakyun reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
Pretty messy, too cluttered, the sort of result you get when you tell 5 kids in school to work as a group and draw a picture, and they set out all doing their own thing and going in different directions, but also trying to fill every available space with stuff. And then drawing over shit cause they ran out of space. Kinda unimpressed over here, and not something I really want to look at every time I access the page.1 point -

And I really don't think a plot-heavy Majikoi would even be good. Majikoi is good because it's so light-hearted and fun. Fill it full of drama and you'll ruin it.1 point -

The main thing about UR healers is their raw stat which is often higher than score up URs (My panayo URs are pure tanks) But in terms of skill it is indeed a waste and not really worth it in comparison to score up or perfect lock.1 point -
Love Live! School Idol Festival Thread
SoulJustIn reacted to Ceris for a topic
Stamina is a complete waste for a UR skill, and weaker URs can be outdone by idolized SRs just because they have scoring abilities. For example, the SR New Years Rin is more powerful than the earlier day Smile URs like Honoka because she has barely less smile but a scoring ability as opposed to a perfect lock in this case. True that the leader advantage is nice, but it isn't always the determining factor, as I've mentioned a lot, my pure team is my strongest even with leader bonuses added in, even though my Pure team is the one without a UR. URs are so overrated /rant On a side note, URs in JP are more to be obsessed about, none of them drop below 5000 in their primary stat at level 801 point -

I'm from Portugal, just like my profile says~ We should have some kind of survey to check users' nationality sometime, seems like it'd be interesting. Majikoi is nothing but happy fun times the whole way through. Each route has some drama, but it's still heavily laced with comedy and absurdity. It fits all of your requirements very well. Yume Miru Kusuri is probably NOT what you're looking for. It's good, but it's honestly quite depressing for a good portion of it, and deals with some pretty serious issues (severe bullying, drug use, etc).1 point

VN of the Year 2014
Chronopolis reacted to Clephas for a blog entry
First, the announcement. After careful - extremely careful - consideration, I have chosen Nanairo Reincarnation as VN of the Year 2014. The runners-up were Semiramis no Tenbin and Bradyon Veda. 2014's top ten, based on quality with a 70% emphasis on story elements, a fifteen percent emphasis on sound, and a fifteen percent emphasis on visuals. 1. Nanairo Reincarnation 2. Bradyon Veda 3. Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai (yes, I didn't list this one as a runner-up, because I was physically incapable of doing so) 4. Semiramis no Tenbin 5. Hikoukigumo no Mukougawa 6. Satsukoi 7. Houkago no Futekikakusha 8. Hello, Lady 9. Kami no Ue no Mahoutsukai 10. AstralAir no Shiroki Towa Story element evaluations were split fifty-fifty between intellectual and emotional impact. Ideally, any given story should touch upon the intellect and the emotions, leaving an 'imprint' behind.1 point -

Is Minatosoft making more majikoi?
Suzu Fanatic reacted to Decay for a topic
I've been playing Majikoi S lately and I think it has already grown too big for its own good. I thought the first Majikoi was fine in this regard even with its huge cast, but in S they went overboard and as a result they've lost focus. I'm on the Monshiro route right now, and it seems like the narrative meanders all over the place. It's not necessarily a good thing. They introduce some really important, core female characters and spend a lot of time fleshing them out, then blueball you because they don't have routes. I guess it's a good business strategy because they can sell their routes separately in the A games, but seeing how all of this is playing out, I fully agree with ending the series where it's at now. It's just too big. If it grew any further, it would be a total mess. A third proper Majikoi game would probably be a disaster. I'm not sad that the series is ending, it's on the contrary, I'd be sad if it kept going. The people behind those games will continue making interesting stories with new characters, for the sake of sane storytelling it's for the best that these stories and characters are present in their own new VNs rather than having to share the spotlight.1 point -
