What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Kurisu-Chan and one other reacted to Lewycool for a topic
I really do not recommend lost alpha or any of the sort that changes the main story of the game. Why? Because it is really important that you complete the story first before doing anything like that. The story has a rich and immersive feel and shouldn't be washed away if you haven't completed it beforehand. In any case, For mods I recommend, the mods that polish up the game such as bug fixes and quality updates. and for that case I recommend :- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl STALKER Complete S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Clear Sky Complete S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Misery Misery is such a good mod and brings so much to Pripyat. I don't think I've been as scared without misery, the effect, sound, deft and story. It all comes out in misery.2 points -

VN of the Year 2014
Chronopolis and one other reacted to Clephas for a blog entry
First, the announcement. After careful - extremely careful - consideration, I have chosen Nanairo Reincarnation as VN of the Year 2014. The runners-up were Semiramis no Tenbin and Bradyon Veda. 2014's top ten, based on quality with a 70% emphasis on story elements, a fifteen percent emphasis on sound, and a fifteen percent emphasis on visuals. 1. Nanairo Reincarnation 2. Bradyon Veda 3. Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai (yes, I didn't list this one as a runner-up, because I was physically incapable of doing so) 4. Semiramis no Tenbin 5. Hikoukigumo no Mukougawa 6. Satsukoi 7. Houkago no Futekikakusha 8. Hello, Lady 9. Kami no Ue no Mahoutsukai 10. AstralAir no Shiroki Towa Story element evaluations were split fifty-fifty between intellectual and emotional impact. Ideally, any given story should touch upon the intellect and the emotions, leaving an 'imprint' behind.2 points -

FinalChaos and one other reacted to Tay for a topic
(Last time…) Guy: "Oookay. I still think they're porny." (< not a word) Me: "That probably says more about you than the art style." *Tay gets slugged* Me: "Owww!" Guy: "No, but really. Why not just read a book or comic instead?" (And now for the "epic" conclusion!) Me: “What do you mean?” Guy: “I dunno. Why read *that”—“ *he waves a finger lazily at the PC screen* “when you could just read a comic or a book, instead?” Me: “Um. Because variety is a good thing? For example, do you eat the same thing for lunch every day?” *Uncomfortable moment of silence.* Me: “You do, don’t you?” Guy: “Yeah, generally.” Me: “Dang. Way to pull a Ford on me. Okay, so, that was a bad example –“ Guy: “Ford?” Me: “Henry Ford. The guy who made the cars? He’s famous for the line, ‘You can have any color [of Model T] as long as it's black.’ Meaning: sameness is boring.” *Guy’s eyes are still glazed over* Me: “Okay, fine. Tell me a hobby that interests you.” Guy: “NASCAR.” Me: “Um. No. Try again. Give me another one. A better one.” *Tay gets slugged* Me: “Owww!” Guy: “Music, then.” Me: *Rubbing arm* “What kind of music?” Guy: “Oh, all kinds.” Me: “What’s your favorite song?” Guy: “’The Angry American’ by Toby Keith” *Uncomfortable moment of silence* Me: “I’m feeling increasingly justified, here. If that’s your favorite song, we’ve got bigger problems to deal with.” *Continuing rapidly to avoid more pain* “Okay, so, by comparison – don’t you like listening to more than just that one song? Or to just Toby Keith? Isn’t it good to get some variety?” Guy: “I guess so. But I do listen to him most of the time. I don’t like much else.” Me: “You’re making this very hard, [Guy]. Anyway, I’m sure that if you searched your soul you’d discover that variety is a good thing and keeps life interesting. I do read books, but I also read these things—“ *pointing to PC screen* “—because they’re fun. And different.” Guy: “And porny.” Me: “What is it with you and that word?” Guy: “It’s just what they are, [Tay].” Me: *mucho annoyed look* Guy: “I’d be too embarrassed to get caught reading one of those.” Me: “How mature of you.” Guy: “They can’t be that much different than a book, man.” Me: “You’d be surprised.” Guy: “Not likely.” Me: “How about we make this interesting?” Guy: “Fine by me.” Me: “I’m going to let you borrow [my tablet] for a few hours. You’re going to play one of these ‘porny’ games. If it doesn’t impress you, I’ll buy you lunch. If it does impress you, however, you buy me lunch. And if it makes you cry, you have to take my afternoon shift.” Guy: “Fine. But if I hate it, you have to take my shift tomorrow morning.” Me: “Great.” *tap* *tap* *tap* Guy: “So what am I reading?” Me: “It’s a sunny little thing called 'Planetarian'.” *hands over tablet* Guy: “Wish me luck.” Me: “Good luck. Oh, and I locked the other apps, so you can’t snoop. Sorry.” Guy: “D*@%.” The After-Story: [Guy] loved Planetarian and he definitely cried. Lunch was delicious, as was having the afternoon off. He’s interested in trying another “porny game”, though I do not know which one I’ll recommend to him. I have not yet actually told him that there is, in fact, porn in some of the games. Mostly because I really hate the word “porny.”2 points -
https://vndb.org/v17102 Purported as a "true sequel", this is going to be the first new canon entry to the series since the original. Hardly anything is known about it, other than it taking place in the beta world line. I can't really imagine how that will work since S;G's true ending ended on a different world line. What do you guys think about all this?1 point

Hello y’all! Ezeefreak from the Recognition Team is here this time. Today we’ll highlight another one of our precious members. If you’re able to read a VN in Japanese or even in ordinary English, then the probability is really high (near 100 %) that the member, we are introducing to you, already read that one you’re reading now or plan to read. Maybe you even found it on his suggestion, in one of his fabulous reviews or on a list he made. Well, I think y’all figured it already out that we talking about Clephas. Clephas is real pro and expert when it comes to VN’s. He has read more than 500 (in words FIVEHUNDRED) VNs by now. So he knows a lot about this media and also shares his knowledge with us. If you ask for a recommendation he is always one of the first who contribute. If you want to read something about a VN it is mostly enough to search for a review from him. In his VN of the month topic he shows us all different kinds of VNs, some that the most of us never even heard about. Also he is one of our most active bloggers on the site and showers us with incredibly detailed and interesting posts there. He is also a Moderator of the FuwaChat and probably already ate the most of the people from there. Well, let me show you a little overview over all the awesome work he does on Fuwanovel: - Clephas' VN of the month - There are also lot of other informative posts like VN Companies, their nature and habits or Why Japanese is easier to learn than you think - Clephas made a lot of helpful Lists and recommendations, see yourselff here, here, here , ... and so on It would really take to long to liste every single one . - A must see for every lover of VN's is definitely his blog. He contributed a lot to this community and like I said at the beginning, is a real expert when it comes to VNs. It would be too much to list every helpful and excellent post here. We from the RecTeam, the Staff of Fuwa and all the other people of Fuwa thank him for the work he does and hope the he will us show more from the world of VNs in the future. Thank you!1 point

Well, depressing / at least drama stuff tends to be a thing in most... things. Da Capo 1 or 2 (apparently 2 is much better) might be decent and fluffy I guess. If you can enjoy a lot of lesbian sex sonohana 1 and 2 are pretty much diabetes-inducing, lol. If you like getting physically abused by 3 to 4 tsundere then Ikikoi could be quite nice as well iirc (the drama in onigase's route is so retarded you can laugh at it instead, probably).1 point

Toradora Portable did a meh job in my opinion. Taiga and Minori's routes are pretty much lumped together and only branch off at the very end to give you a different epilogue and it's not ultra satisfying overall. Not to say I wasn't happy I could experience a different ending (I was rooting for Minori more than Taiga in the original series), but there wasn't much of a WOW factor to it. Ami's route is actually the better one in the whole game so if you liked Ami, the game does her some justice. The rest of the routes are more comedic and the game in general has some comedy so it's not a drag to play, I gave it a 7/10 I think. I'd recommend you read it just because it doesn't take long at all, but don't expect the amazingness that was the original story. Also, while Toradora Portable's main routes are 50/50, the game does offer some pretty funny side routes and I think those are actually worth it (I loved falling in the teacher's route over and over. w ) Yume Miru Kusuri is really fun to play although there's some heavy drama in each route but still the whole experience for me was really good.1 point

Update: I'm very late. You can blame my shitty internet. Anyway, weekly Rance Quest! Maria never disappoints, of course. Stream, huh. I wonder. Would watch, of course. I hope the stream will be sometime soon when I'm actually on. Also, Arunaru doesn't disappoint as well. Rance VI currently at 35.1%! Our translators have not forsaken us! Believe!1 point

I'm currently playing this VN, slowly. Sometimes, I just have to walk away from my laptop because I just can't stop laughing during the H scenes. So far it's cute, albeit it took me a while to get used to the concept of human looking dogs, and it took me an even longer time to get used to... well, I'll let you find out for yourselves.1 point

There are a lot of misunderstandings here. The only difference between the ME and EX versions are h-scenes. The ME version has the new routes. It, alongside the EX version, also has new non-H content in the old routes. Kud's has the most content added, followed by the Haruka route. The common route also has a lot of new content (as if it needed to be longer). When starting a new game in EX/ME, you can also choose to say that you've already read LB and the game will unlock all content and new routes for you, as if you've completed Refrain, so you don't have to reread anything you don't want to. They do not have any partial patches of the translation released, so you cannot go and play those routes right now if you wanted to.1 point
