  7. Hello guys! This is my first post in this forum (loving it btw ). Im pretty new to the VN world, I got immediately hooked by this genre of games and I would like to support them by starting a fan translation project of a VN that I've had an eye on for a long time since I started reading them. The only concerns I have regarding this are the following: 1- Could someone like me, who doesn't know a bit of japanese (I can understand spoken jap a little bit but can't read at all) start a Fan translation project? That being said I am looking for a way of extracting the scripts for the game to be able to translate it (game has 6 years already) and I could fill the position of what is called Hacker and Editor. 2- Is there some kind of website/post/thread that talks about how to manage a fan translation team or how to start a Fan translation project for newbies like me ? I'm talking about how to set up an organized team to work swiftly in the best way possible and how to make the post thread of my project as clear and informative as possible so everyone knows how everything would be managed and the general info as well as attracting people to recruit (I do think there are a lot of people interested in entering a project but I don't know where or how should I post threads about recruiting people for one). I hope that everything is clear, I'm pretty nervous because this is my first post . I would love to hear your thoughts, since I'm lost and would like some advice.

  8. I'm trying to set the hooks for various flagship VNs with existing English translations in as few words as possible. I'm not looking for a summary, nor even themes. Rather, I'm looking for the hook: whatever sells the VN as appealing; the word or words you would always utter when explaining what a VN is about. The briefer you can say it, the better. The acceptable maximum is six words. Here's a few examples of my own (maybe more will come tomorrow; this isn't actually that easy, in general): Comyu: absurdism and giant robots Little Busters: friendship Clannad: family The rules are simple: the VN whose hook is described should be good (otherwise, why bother?) the hook must be at most six words So write one and post it. Six words is a hard limit, because constraints encourage greater creativity. I'm mostly interested in VNs with an English translation, but if you've got something to share, go for it.

  9. Hello, I'm new to this forum so if this isn't the right place to post this let me know. So I'm working on a visual novel story: Set in modern England, Cain Blanchard is a smart-aleck 15 year old who, after enrolling in a school specializing in the arts of sorcery, finds himself caught in a game triggered every 500 years by the birth of the phoenix. Ignis Avis Venatio is a fight to the death competition between students and their familiars. The winner of the game obtains the phoenix’s powers. On top of choosing who to date and who to kill, Cain must make the crucial decision of whether the phoenix’s power will be used in benevolence or for destruction. characters: For anyone interested in this project you can check out our development progress here: http://project-iav.tumblr.com/ It's also in the middle of being funded: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/743136579/visual-novel-ignis-avis-venatio/description , so if you have the time we'd greatly appreciate it. I'd love to hear what anyone thinks of the project so far. Thank you!

    The Central Pokemon Topic

So for anyone interested in some wildly useless speculation on where the next game will take place I've tried to put the evidence together for the Hawaii theory (which has the best bet at the moment for being right). The evidence for Hawaii as the location the next game will be based off of seems to be stacking up. In the few images released thanks to the video we see that the license plate for one of the cars might have a rainbow...which is exactly what one finds on the license plates of Hawaii, the buildings look very similar in architecture to real Hawaiian buildings, the sun and moon could also be representative of Hawaiian mythology with Hina the moon goddess and Maui the sun god representing the upcoming legendary pokemon especially if we take the fact that all previous games have had a basis on one mythology/religion or another. It would not be a huge stretch. Other evidence for Hawaii comes from the rough drawn sketch of what seems to be either a red crested cardinal or a woodpecker (the first of which can be found on the islands of Hawaii) The vehicles shown in the preview as well as the format of the pokemon centers (both the hut like buildings and the fact they seemed to have mobile pokemon centers) definitely look similar to what you might find in Hawaii. Hawaii has yellow fire trucks, the lack of back or a roof to the vehicles could be because of the heat, etc... I'm quite curious if prices for everything will be more expensive and whether or not we might see some tourists from other parts of the pokemon world throughout the game as call outs to previous franchises. It would be pretty damn cool to see some characters from previous games pop up while on vacation (nice call out to the 20th anniversary to see some familiar faces). In Pokemon XY (or OR/AS) we also had someone give a souvenir from a far off location and this souvenir looked very much like a tiki. If that were not enough evidence we also have the fact that there is one final pokemon not actually available in the national dex called Volcanion. This pokemon is about to get a movie and while the Azoth kingdom apparently is in Kalos we've yet to be able to get it legitimately in a game which makes me think that it will probably be available in the next game and have a connection to that region. Usually the pokemon films have been known to preview the next generation of pokemon in the film before the next game's release and so I think the region of Hawaii with all its volcanoes is probably a perfect place to finally find this one. If we take the upcoming film as a sneak peak at the overall theme in the next game then we can probably expect man (technology) vs. nature to be a part of the story. With the name for the games being Moon and Sun it is not unreasonable to assume that the enemy team name this time around will be something around the lines of Team Eclipse (lunar vs solar) or Team Halo/Rainbow (in reference to the rings around the sun that look like a halo or rainbow). Of course the enemy and overall themes could be completely different from that of the films. Lot of speculation on my part but I'm essentially convinced that the next game will take part at least partially on a polynesian island of some sort and there is a ton they could do with it to make it interesting.

  18. There is not. Kazuki does have screen time and H-scenes in the later games, but she does not have a route per-say. In fact, in Meiykuu and Rakuen, there is no route system in the main story.

Well, Dracu-riot is my favorite moege to this day, so yeah, I do love it. A lot And yeah, it might be a tad closer to PE and Noble Works, but it still has some meaningful character informations, like in Majikoi. And yes, Yuzusoft(the creator of NW) are releasing a new game this year, and it's going to be glorious

  26. The answer more or less is no. If you don't actually have any real programming/game hacking skills or translation skills, then starting a project isn't going to get you anywhere. There aren't any truly successful projects run by people who don't have any real skills of their own. Because what are you really offering that people can't do on their own? If it's a common engine, anyone can get script extraction tools.

  28. Interesting topic, although I don't know if I could make it correctly though. But, let me try a few, although it may be come as overgeneralize though, and I'll also give my short comment about VN if there was a need in bracket. Beat Blade Haruka - Sex with your ninja (Although I'd interested because magical girl resemblance though, especially with transforming Haruka) Yurirei - Yuri Cupid (It's one of the title chapter in game too) Muv-Luv Alternative - Attack on BETA (Since it's said that MLA was the inspiration for Attack on Titan manga, might use BETA as replacement for titan. It might still wrong though) Koichoco - School politic (Mainly in regard of election) Steins Gate - Time travel Kira Kira - Travelling All-Girl Rock Band (Although one of them was trap aka our MC though, and the music sound like J-Pop from some reviewer) Soukoku no Arterial - Yu-Gi-Oh and Survival (Had card battle obviously (Better than Princess Waltz, go get Soukoku even if the narration patch right now was machine translated one), and the plot was trapped in another world) Eiyuu Senki - Historical harem (You're in the world with all of major historical character were girl, and you the only man. Your goal was to conquer the world and got the girl. Go figure) Never7 - The Moege of Infinity (It's first infinity series, and before the genre shift most scene would be not out of place in any recent moege (I think)) Ever17 - Escape from Underwater Park (Quite obvious, and the most famous of Infinity series) I think I could describe all of those above. Feel free to correct me if those description were wrong though.

  30. Hello guys! We are going to be finishing up our game map in a couple of days but would like to hear some commentary on where it currently stands. A little background. The Rift is a dimentional tear in which the interior is its own ecosystem. Its roughly 5 miles wide and has wildly different environments. Currently there are no landmarks but as you progress through the game, you will unlock locations. It is also in 4k so zooming in does not pixelate which will be a major factor when it comes to location art.

  34. Dies Irae only a little ahead underdog, Baldr Sky. I voted for Dies Irae, because here in Fuwanovel we circle-jerk the hyped stuff we never read. The big guy. The mighty chuunige overlord. The one who's already on top of the VN world. If you admire such qualities and like being a meanie to Old Man Rooke, you too should vote for Dies Irae.

  35. I have an idea for a VN (totally new idea that poped into my head last night). If anyone here is interested in helping me I would be happy. The story is about a samurai named Raion, who is a member of the Ishin Shishi, and he fights in the war for Kyoto and equality. He is a ruthless killer and has a very cold attitude. Then a priestess named Hikaru comes into his life and turns it upside down. More details for those who want to join me. You can contact me via e-mail or my MAL account. Also is there a site like this one for manga?

  36. I'm getting old I made three errors today at a Kaiser inventory. THREE!!!! I went months without making a single error prior, so my supervisor was all "WHAT HAPPENED?#@$^&" It wasn't even the partial pill bottles that screwed me over, it was missing entire bottles. Derpa-derp. So our error rate turned out to be 0.3%. Still well below our < 1% error rate goal threshold. But those 3 errors out of a thousand audits? ALL ME, SUCK IT So I was telling my successor J "That's why you new guys are here, to replace the oldies"

  37. At least the first half was pretty great, on the same level as the beginning of the first season IMO. It has Sinon as a quite interesting new heroine and it also builds up a good bit of tension (it stayed pretty close to the LN). But beware of traps... The second half has partly the problems of the first season's second half, though you might actually like it quite a lot, seeing how much you like Asuna, because she plays the main role in the last animated arc.
    1 point
  38. Reading Tae Kim multiple times is probably useful since that way you can cement all the nuances well. It's likely someone will miss a detail on their first reading. I'd say go through the whole thing twice, then go onto a VN. After that read it once a week or so along with the VN until you get a bit more in there if you're serious about getting this down.

  40. Pretty much. First half of season 1 of SAO is one of my favorites, for pretty much exactly the reasons you listed: Asuna, great episodic characters, a feeling of real progression (especially romantically), and a feeling that everything matters. That said, if you can bring yourself to do it, seriously, stop watching after the Aincrad arc ends. I'm sure you'll never thank me for it, but on the other hand if you do keep watching, I can pretty much guarantee that one day you'll come back and say you should have listened to me. It basically ruins everything that was great about SAO previously... but it's insidious, so you might not notice at first.

  45. Why even bother, when they don't give a shit giving us kickstarter of this quality, without even advertising it anywhere. Well, advertising it might actually bring more harm than profit... Now, they should just cancel this project, hire another company, promote this KS at AExpo with inre staff on-board, and of course properly announce it, and start new one with way better KS page and better PR staff in Sep-Oct~~ and ofc lower the goal to like 150k.
