  3. You guys like to talk girls? Then let's talk girls. I have never been rejected by a girl.I have never rejected a girl.I have never confessed to a girl.I have never been confessed to by a girl.I have never liked a girl.(To my knowledge) I have never been liked by a girl.I have had various fleeting crushes. They mostly resulted from when a girl hanged out with me of her own volition: because I forget other human being like social interaction and immediately assumed there must be romantic interest involved. Typical prepubescent boy nonsense. They usually lasted a couple of weeks.I have broken three grills, despite having never owned one.I have never fantasized about girls... is what I'd like to say but I'd bet I may have done so back in school and forgotten about it.These days I don't interact with people outside of my family at all. Maybe when I go shopping and whatnot, but I don't have any such things I could qualify as friends or girl friends or ungirl friends (or ex-girl friends and vice versa).I enjoy hugging my pillow. Is that supposed to be a girl thing? What are girls anyway?Feel free to question me freely about girls on this auspicious occasion.

  8. In my opinion it's not too much like Battlefield but it's not too much like Battlefront either. I would have preferred a game more like the original battlefront games with space battles and finding actual vehicles instead of tokens. More maps would also be really awe- [YOU MUST PURCHASE THE ADDITIONAL COMMENT DLC IN ORDER THE VIEW THE REST OF THIS COMMENT].

  13. I would be but I read the shitty translation already and Clannad is a really REALLY long VN. I would much rather spend the time reading something I haven't read before. I am super excited that it's finally getting a release and I would love to read the better translation someday, just not at this moment in time.

  18. Haven't posted here in quite a while... We're still working hard on the common route! A lot of assets are being produced, thanks to the effort of everyone on the team! Guess I'll just post some assets, since sharing is caring First : our podcast episode 1 video! Cover art : Dizzyworld2, OST : Hustle & Bustle by Jason Walsh Participants : AnotherPlayer, Mac (Tips : do actually watch the video, you won't be disappointed! ) So usually, I often put a background update here with an asset, but this time, I'll do even better : a background speedpainting from Yuuko! And lastly, of course, some fanart, because you all deserved it after waiting for so long without any news : A bit late, but look at all the candy Akira got! (Drawn by Yuuko) That's all for the moment! Stay tuned for some further updates soon-ish! (And follow the thread if you haven't been yet! )

  19. I should make a quick point regarding the art assets. I’m currently playing through Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition, and I discovered that the cutscenes weren’t reworked with modern art like the 1st Baldur’s Gate:EE. This was because people complained when Beamdog changed and modernised the cutscenes in the first game. So what was the response when Beamdog left the cutscenes alone in BG2:EE? People complained, of course. And that's a good example of how you can’t please everybody. Regarding the art assets, it’s nice to have different options for people who prefer different things. But I’m against the idea of having CG’s be ‘scrollable’, having to scroll through art assets breaks immersion when you’re reading and you’re unable to take in a scene in one go, you gotta scroll and interpret it in pieces. There’s a reason companies don’t do that. Definitely not my thing, but other people could be happy with it.

  21. A Visual Novel set in Space. Fulfill your duty. Fall in love. Betray your friends. Get murdered by an A.I. Welcome aboard the Everett. OVERVIEW Quantum Suicide by Cotton Candy Cyanide is inspired by story-driven Japanese Visual Novels such as Danganronpa, and the Virtues Last Reward series. In Quantum Suicide, you play as a researcher aboard a spaceship on an epic mission to find humanity a new home. You have the ability to choose your name and gender, a choice that can change your destiny from the very beginning. Quantum Suicide contains 6 courtable options (3 females, 3 males). With their own hopes, desires, personalities, and sexual preferences, you will have to move carefully to earn each character's affections. Each courtable character has at least three posed sprites, each with multiple facial expressions. In addition, all characters are partially voiced by professional Japanese voice actors. Boasting over 50+ hours of gameplay, you must navigate your way through over 30 different endings, including bad, good, and true endings for all courtable options. Each week, you are thrown into The Deletion Game where you must battle for your survival through a series of puzzles and strategy mini-games as you attempt to see the Everett's mission through to the end...alive. Quantum Suicide is a commercial game scheduled for sale on Steam late 2017. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cccn/quantum-suicide-a-visual-novel-in-space-kill-or-be http://www.mediafire.com/download/7x9xbsqzhjgsscs/QuantumSuicide-all.zip http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=556943619 STORY The year is now 2117. You are a second generation ship-born researcher studying inter-dimensional travel. Your choices change the fortunes of all aboard the Everett. Friendship and love lay waiting at your feet, but you should be wary. The road to the stars is full of hardship. A malprogrammed A.I. dedicated to preserving resources pulls you into a twisted, murderous game. When tensions are high, who knows what even the kindest crew member will do? How will you protect those you love? Will you betray friends to save yourself? Will you be slaughtered in cold, empty space? Will you slaughter? It's time to ask yourself: what would you do to survive? CHARACTER ART Quantum Suicide's lead artist is Ygor Lisboa aka Danzzila. We were drawn to him for his wonderful, expressive Japanese style and he is responsible for our character design, sprites, and CG art. Each main character has three poses, with three expressions per pose. Supporting characters currently only have one pose, with multiple expressions. BACKGROUND ART Ah, background art. You are hardly given the credit you deserve but as soon as you are lacking, it becomes apparent. The interior of the Everett was designed with a sparse, military practicality in mind, but we also wanted it to be atmospheric and vivid enough to be visually interesting for the player. To get the best art, you have to go to the best artist so we went to background extraordinaire, Owen Carson. The scenes capture the beauty of the ship, the wonder of space, and the eerieness of a closed circuit situation. With at least 20 variations for the background to date (with plans for a few extra for the few game), the Everett will come alive, even if you don't stay that way! GRAPHIC USER INTERFACE Our Game User Interface (GUI) is designed to be intuitive, and add to the overall science fiction tone of the game. Further screens such as CG Gallery, Music Player, Mini-Games, Archive Files, and Bonus Content are to be added as the game is created. The Quantum Suicide Logo and the GUI were designed by the talented Luna Chai Li. MUSIC What would intergenerational space travel be without a great soundtrack? Quiet. No one wants quiet. Quiet is scary, and cold, and sad. To ensure that your travels among the stars is not a quiet affair, we've had a soundtrack lovingly crafted by our talented musicians. We've been lucky enough to be given permission to use the song 変異個体-ГЕNЕ- by SEVERUS WAND for our atmospheric trailer currently in production but we also have a complete Original Soundtrack by Wojciech Wojnowski. ABOUT US Cotton Candy Cyanide (CCCN-) is made up of two people: Ashley Pearson (Nyx) and Tina Richards (MoltenCherry). We often go by our gamer tags. We created CCCN- to create games that we, ourselves, wanted to play. Both of us greatly enjoy games such as Dangan Ronpa, Virtue's Last Reward, and Persona; games that challenge us, make us fall in love with characters, and then break our hearts. Unfortunately, we found these sorts of titles scarce in the Western gaming market. While Steam has been exploding with visual novels recently, we wanted to create something a little darker than a slice of life, romantic novel. We've got 'Cyanide' in our name for a reason. WHY ARE WE POSTING ON FUWANOVEL There are a multitude of reasons that we are posting on the Fuwanovel Forums. Firstly, we are hoping that by posting here we might gain some support from people as passionate about Visual Novels as we are. As many of you know, creating a game isn't always rainbows and butterflies. We find it really comforting to know that we have a community behind us. Secondly, we've put a lot of money, and time, and love into Quantum Suicide. This is our first project and we are trying our very hardest to make Quantum Suicide the highest quality product possible. Now that we are approaching the end of our initial 'concept' phase, we are simply bursting at the seams with excitement to share our project with you! If you are interested, it would truly mean the world to us if you would back us on Kickstarter or upvote us on Steam Greenlight. And finally, if you would like to stay up to date with the progress of Quantum Suicide, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

  22. http://mangagamer.org/gahkthun/ Woot! I thought for sure that this would slip into 2016, but MangaGamer is managing to squeeze it in just before the year's end, getting it out there December 23rd! For those who don't know, this is the latest entry in Liarsoft's acclaimed Steampunk franchise, which also contains the popular fan translated titles Sekien no Inganock and Shikkoku no Sharnoth. They're a unique setting in VNs. Some of the games are set in fictional locations within the world, but some like Gahkthun, are set in early 20th century Europe, fusing together steampunk, fantasy, and science fiction themes with a hint of lovecraftian horror. The sky overhead is under a permanent blanket of smog, while the seas have been dyed black by pollution. Gahkthun takes place in Marseille, France in 1908, starring one Nikola Tesla. This shit couldn't possibly be more nerdy and I love it. Each game in the series is written by Sakurai Hikaru, notable for her poetic prose. This prose is something that was pretty much lost entirely in the Amaterasu translations of Inganock and Sharnoth, but Gahkthun's translation is being handled by Koestl instead. Koestl, known for his absolutely excellent Grisaia translation, is trying to preserve as much of the feel of the original work as possible. In case you can't tell, I'm super excited for this. I was a fan of the previous games and this one looks awesome. I really want it to do well so MangaGamer and Liar-soft wants to release the rest of the series and possibly other Liar-soft VNs as well. Anyone else excited for this?

  23. And JAST USA, Peach Princess, G-Collections, Himeya Soft, Kitty Media, and every single H-anime Western publisher ever. Can you name ONE company (other than SP) that releases mosaiced H on the West (save for the two titles form MG that I mentioned earlier)? Just one - maybe I'm missing something? Except every single Western publisher that has anything to do with releasing visual novels or Hentai stuff in general. Oh yeah, I remember that enormous backlash that MG faced when they released mosaiced Suika and Ef... No, wait - that kinda never happened. What exactly did you have in mind? Do you have some examples? Even just one? Maybe I'm missing something? Yeah, because in case of official Western releases, there's no other censorship to speak of - mosaics simply don't exist here (with some extremely rare exceptions). Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to accuse you of spouting spectacularly dubious statements backed up by no evidence whatsoever. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something. You are arguing with such conviction, that I'm starting to think that I somehow missed a bunch of official, mosaiced releases that are currently flooding the Western market. Honestly, I'm just curious where are your arguments coming from. Indeed, I didn't see it the last time I checked... and I'm not quite sure if it was there back then (I think I would have noticed it, or somebody would have mentioned it instead of quoting the FAQ, but maybe I'm wrong). Anyway, like this it's perfectly fine. To stay on topic (somewhat), I'll add that, unlike many people, I really like the idea of cheaper voiceless version. It gives customers more options, and that's always good. Considering the costs of voice licensing, it really makes sense to split releases like this, instead of bloating the price of the entire VN. I don't get why so many people were complaining about it - no matter how I look at it, two options are much better than just one release.

  25. Alright, looks like I'll be moving to Ohio in a few months. My initial impression of the guy being stupid turned out to be a little more on point than I thought it would be. He did crack 4 months ago, he cries when he drinks, and he's getting overly upset over small changes in the household. He still gets depressed over his mom who died 15 years ago. I mean, I get that it's hard to lose someone you loved so much, but it's happened to me twice and I'm fine. Apparently it upsets him that we prefer our own dishes over his rigid stuff, we like having the AC on most of the time, and my mom doesn't like having a bed that sags in the middle. He has a really good bed that was purchased too long ago, but it's a memory foam mattress with no solid base underneath it. When my mom tried to talk to him about it, he apparently snapped and things just got out of hand. Welp, lesson learned. Even if he's easy to connect with at first, never trust an idiot to not make irrational choices. At this point, we're staying together more as roommates than as a family. He's at least being generous enough to let us save money by living with him (which he kinda benefits from too). Yeah, things didn't work out as much as I hoped, but this is still a hell of a lot better than living with my aunt. I'm starting to wonder if there are any sane people left in the world... But that's fine, I'm still hopeful. Also, congratulations, LinovaA. I'm really happy for you!

I've never read it either [3] and only watched a few episodes of it (but that's partially down to me being generally shit at watching series), so naturally I'm pretty damn excited for the release of this as well. It'll be pretty cool to play one of the 'classic' (by which I mean well-regarded) VNs too, as I've not really done too many of those. Drawing dango in anticipation.

  33. You do realize you can just turn off the voices in the options menu in any visual novel, right? Many even offer that option separately for different characters. You could but why spend an extra 20 bucks when you're not going to use the voices? It's just nice to have the option not to buy it if you don't think you're going to use it.

  34. Wow, that semantics thing really blew up. One of the big unknown factors I had was the quality of the translation, though I myself don't know Japanese and probably wouldn't notice a difference I would still ideally prefer the best translation so I can read the closest thing to the original story. It seems like the translation is pretty much the same with a few minor differences that I probably wouldn't even notice (except spelling errors but that's just a problem all the time). Cropping really doesn't bother me that much but it is poorly done in some cases. Usually when I have an option to play a game with or without H-scenes I always go for the version with h-scenes because it's the original I'm a horny bastard. So far my list of pros and cons are Sekai TL +Better Aspect ratio +Better backgrounds +Choice to have voiced or unvoiced (some people view this as a con but it's really nice to have the option in my opinion) -Cropped CG's - No Hentai Fan TL + Hentai + Uncropped CG's (it's nice to have the full artwork I must admit) -Shit resolution Honestly it seems like both versions of the game are not by any means bad, it's pretty much like picking between the adult and all-ages version of a VN except that all-ages has a better resolution.

  37. Unfortunately Edison doesn't play a role in this one, as far as I know, so they don't play up that rivalry at all. Although it does feature Florence Nightingale and Wilhelm Reich. Most of you know who Florence Nightingale is, but I'm sure many of you have never heard of Wilhelm Reich. Reich was an Austrian psychoanalyst, active from the 1920s until his death in '57. He worked under Freud and gained some recognition early on. But his theories quickly became heavily politicized. He had The Mass Psychology of Fascism published in 1933, after which he made a hasty exit from Nazi Germany. He was highly critical of fascism and, interestingly enough, attributed the rise of fascism to the repression of the youth's sexual desires. This political philosophizing caused some alienation in the psychoanalyst community, but it didn't end there. His next work, The Sexual Revolution, was a controversial work that was practically pseudo-science. It merged ideas from marxism with psychoanalysis and theorized that the source of all neurosis is the lack of "orgastic potency" in subjects. He was actually somehow even more obsessed with sex than Freud was. He came up with a theory surrounding "orgone," a supposed universal energy that drives all life, which is sexual in nature. And he came up with a bizarre form of therapy where he would have his patients strip down and he would prod and massage them in certain ways that would allow them release repressed emotions and sometimes also reach orgasm. Yeah. Suffice to say, he became a bit of an outcast, and almost no one follows his teachings anymore. So, what does this have to do with Gahkthun? Gahkthun's Wilhelm Reich is the leader of The Academia's Governing Council and actually has a fascist bent, which goes against the real-world Reich. The impression I get from his character bio is that he seems to be all business, being the kind of guy who has no time for sex and never talks about it. But what he does have in common is "Orgone." Gahkthun's Reich seems to be in search of this cosmic force he believes to be the manifestation of bliss itself. It will be interesting to see how many other ways the character may relate to the real life figure. I know this post was largely apropos of nothing, but I like it when games utilize historical figures like this and I enjoy comparing them to the game characters. It's nice to know the background of these people before going in and hopefully some of you found it interesting as well.

  39. That sucks :s Though I'm kinda intrigued as for why you couldn't keep any of the script he had already completed? (if he has completed any, that is) As a piece of advice, I'd recommend you trying to search writers on fanfiction.net, especially on the anime fandom (Steins;Gate / Fate being the most prolific). I'm doubtful it will help you to recruit on Fuwa (or even Lemma). Sure you might find skilled writers, but the issue is more on the commitment side, people on fanfiction are generally used to writing regularly for a long period of time, and they actually get feedback on their work to improve. themselves. But that often comes at the cost of recruiting someone that might not be familiar with Visual Novel narration / scripting / tropes, etc. Your project is really well done, and a lot of attention has been given to the details, so even people not familiar with the medium would be excited to participate in a project like yours.

  40. Youre playing NTR for the wrong reasons then if you easily get ticked off by women sleeping with other men. You dont play NTR hoping that the protagonist will somehow win the heroine back. You play it because you are interested by the drama that ensues because of it or just the whole fetish of the heroine being coveted by someone else. Save that "heroic rescue bs" for your vanilla nonsense.

  42. The "default expectation" here is "no mosaics", because almost every single 18+ VN release on the West does NOT have them. It's often mentioned as one of the advantages of official releases vs fan-translations. Why would anyone suddenly expect something else? Why would anyone even ask about it? As for informing about mosaics, MG somehow does this in a very clear way, without any controversies, and without using the word "censorship". They do go quite far with this (they dedicated 2 pages in the Ef artbook for the explanation about their localization and mosaics), but that's how it should be. They know that everyone expects and uncensored release, so they do whatever they can to inform the customers when something is different than "default expectations". For some mysterious reason, there was no outrage when they released those two VNs with mosaics. How about Sekai? They slapped a term "unrated" on it. Why? It says exactly nothing - like I said, all 18+ VNs are "unrated" on the West, nobody cares about it. Heck, nobody even uses this term in the context of VNs. Unlike the term "uncensored"... But yeah, those terms sound so incredibly different there's no way anyone would make any mistakes. It's certainly a better idea to use a perfectly meaningless "unrated" instead of a perfectly clear "with mosaic". Great job. If this really wasn't an intentional choice meant to deceive less cautious customers, they are retarded. Going back to the G-Sen case - transparency and communication seems to be a bit of an issue here again. They were treating the "cropping" topic as a taboo, and as far as I know, they didn't even say whether they are planning to release the 18+ edition on Denpasoft or not. Or maybe I'm just missing their announcements? Correct me if I'm wrong. As for updating art - there are plenty of good solutions: 1) Redrawing and expanding CG into a true, non-cropped HD. That's obviously the best solution. Definitely the most expensive one, but even though it might seem too good to be realistic, it's not unheard of - https://vndb.org/r3723 to mention just one example (and that's a total upgrade form 16-color graphics). 2) Scrolling - easier, cheaper, but less comfortable. Still, it preserves the original artwork in widescreen just fine, and you don't have to use the scrolling feature at all - you just get cropped version then. 3) Choice - you pick either cropped CGs or original ones with black borders - that's a no-brainer. Kizuato/Shizuku remake did this as well - they included the original 16-color editions. Generally, the best idea is to let people choose. It's simple - you have old artwork, old cutscenes, everything - just slap those together with remastered stuff and let people pick whatever they want. A very easy way to make (almost) everyone happy with little to no additional costs (unless there are some licensing issues, but this shouldn't be the case here). It's actually a rather common practice, now that I think about it...

  43. I think the biggest advantage when it comes to Fan TLs is flexibility to do what you want. And I'm not just talking schedule wise, I think the ability to continuously alter your scripts based on direct feedback is something I believe official translations tend to lack. Of course a company can talk to their costumers, but there's always an element of distance between a company and the consumer, who's role is typically just waiting around for the product to be out. With Fan TLs though, you tend to actively interact with the staff, and often help them by testing their game and providing corrections, this helps the final product to be improved by the fans for the fans. However, Fan TLs can easily lack on the quality side because of that same flexibility. Official translations, if done by competent companies, will always have professionals who's sole work is to translate, and do it as good as possible so they can deliver the story in the best way they can. They also have access to official assets and game code which can greatly help in bringing the game to a Western audience. In this specific case, almost everything has been improved from a technical standpoint, although I have heard the translation/editing suffered, but I can't confirm this myself. But assuming the translation quality wasn't affected, I think this game in particular can only gain from being updated by SP, save for the fact content was cut from it. Fan translation is superior. Big uncut CG scenes, no cutted out h-content, easily changeable font. Only benefit official have is widescreen, but I plan to do a patch for that also for fan TL one day, this is not a big problem actually. >Tfw translation quality doesn't even factor in. So the translation could be shit so long as the porn is there?

  46. Just finished Kara no Shoujo 2 as well and had a blast reading through it. Really liked the way everything tied together - past to present, characters and their motivations. I found it much easier to play through blind and didn't land on any bad ends on my first playthrough. They gave more than enough hints to let you figure out who did the murders. Pacing did feel a little slow in the first part but it picked up once we get back to Reiji's POV. OST was great and definitely help set the atmosphere, although the first game's songs (azure bird) were more memorable to me. I have to agree that I found Yukiko a bit underwhelming for being the poster girl of the game (Touko best girl). Overall, it was a great sequel and now I can't wait for Kara no Shoujo 3 (dat true ending ;-;).
