  1. Well shoot, my classmates were morons in that case. They didn't even know anything about sex. They just bragged about it like most teen bros did at that age. So in health class we dedicated half a semester to teaching about safe sex in ninth grade. Tests, quizzes, videos, demonstrations, and yes, a project. My class did it all. It was all part of the anatomy section. Hell I even learn about female genital mutilation. (Off topic, but still kinda messed up) Before that, in 7th and 8th grade we had monthly 90 minute seminars where leaders of the neighborhood would hold forums for both girls and boys about teen sex. The leader would stop class to bring in all the bros from all the classes to sit down with a bro who got a chick prego, or got an STI etc. They did the same with the girls in their presentations. 6th Grade sex ed was a joke, a complete joke like you mentioned Zalor. But, however it was effective. Why? Because it got us actually talking about it. Before that, sex is was a complete mystery to me as a kid. When I learned of the word "virgin", from one of my idiot friends fourth grade. They told me it meant that someone who just haven't did "it" What was "it"? They couldn't say. Because they either didn't know or they didn't want to get in trouble. Those who spoke of the s-word got suspended or got detention. They would say that it'll be on your permanent record. Some even got expelled for saying that they did it with girl X. I recommend teaching them at 12 years of age like me with "good sex education''. Which is rather "Thorough sex education."

    What are you playing?

I've just finished Rea's route. Boy, what a ride it has been. I've never felt this emotional since I last read Muv Luv Alternative; damn I even nearly teared up towards the end of the game. If Marie's route was epic, Rea's route was godly. Never in my whole vn reading experience had I ever witnessed such powerful battle scenes; it's truly a clash of the gods. Dies Irae is very similar to Fate Stay Night in so many ways, the first being its battle royale theme and the second being its characters sharing similar traits: Ren wielding Marie is like Shirou wielding Saber; Kei is like Rin (the tsundere rival teaching the protagonist the basics and somehow ends up falling for him); Tubal Cain is like Berserker (the uncontrollable beast); Trifa is like Kirei (the fake priest); and Reinhard is like Gilgamesh (the guy who thinks he's almighty and all). Perhaps that's why I had such high expectations for this vn, so when I finished Kasumi's route, I couldn't help but feel disappointed, since it didn't feel like the full story was being told. Then I went on to Kei's route but there were still quite some things I couldn't quite understand. It wasn't until Marie's route that I started to feel that Dies Irae would be a 9/10 worthy type of vn (at least for me) and finishing Rea's route just a few minutes ago has pretty much solidified this feeling. Words can't even describe how much I enjoyed reading Dies Irae - I think I may have a new outright 2nd favorite now.

  3. I think the only one that you have that fits is Fureraba. VNDB says it is long, but if you want to just chill with some moe girls, go for it.

  4. As for that, I'm supportive of the biology approach. You don't achieve much more than ackwardness and shy laughs if you attempt to teach teenagers how to put on a condom, tbh (I know that from experience, since that's what happened when I was in middle-school). I think it's much more productive to teach them what STDs are from a microbiology point of view (the same way you would teach what the influenza virus is and how it spreads), how fecundation works and the steps of the whole process. The more "practical" information is very accessible nowadays. Making them conscious of the risks from a scientific and strictly formal point of view should be good enough (or at least better than the alternative...).

  5. Updated the first post to mention the concept of safe days doesn't work as birth control. There is currently a class lawsuit about this in America because some paid app claimed to schedule safe and unsafe days and now the pregnant women sue for paying for something, which didn't work. The age of consent is 13 by national law. Prefectures are allowed to raise this number, but not lower. Most if not all prefectures have set the age to 18, including Tokyo, which is why mentioning 13 seems a bit odd. The manga Futari Ecchi is about a newly wed couple trying to figure out the sex life, which is both funny and educational. It includes a bunch of surveys regarding the topic and one of them is about the age of the first time (women only). Apparently the lowest answer is 12. Even if that is below the age of consent, it's old enough to risk pregnancy. Based on this, it would make sense to say something around the age of 12, even if the legal limit is 18. What you teach the children is also important. According to Futari Ecchi, UK increased sex ed and the teenagers became more sexual active. It offers no explanation, but odds are the teaching material said something like just do it as long as you use condoms. So you are saying that it's better to hide that sex leads to pregnancy and that it's better that everybody learn that from their own experience? Yes it's easily awkward and can be hard to figure out how to say something age appropriate. However it can be done if somebody in the education system wants it to work. However there are examples of politicians deciding sex ed should be present, but not how and then somebody else figures out that implementing it means teaching how to have same sex action or even "avoid pregnancy. Use animals instead" (that one got banned the day politicians learned about it). Sure, people will talk about nice boobs, good ass and how it's supposed to get inside. People will however not talk about STDs, pregnancies and all the other problems. The last time I had sex ed was around age 16. By this time school was no longer mandatory, the stupid kids were all gone and the biology curriculum included how and why different methods of birth control works and how safe they are (hint: none is 100% safe). Not only was it part of the finals, it was actually really interesting. Part of the myth busting in the first post is based on knowledge I learned at this point. Around the age of where puberty starts for most people, the topic was what happens when it does. A little talked about fact is that it's completely normal for both genders to have growing breasts. One gender will continue to grow them while the other will see them vanish over time in most cases. Also breasts start out as a hard lump and will not become soft until they reach a certain size. In other words sex ed should be about how to protect against STDs, unwanted pregnancies, consequences regarding those topics, bodily development (am I normal?). It should not be about the fun stuff as people will figure out how to do that on their own. Just as with any other class, it could be interesting or boring depending on how the teacher handles the subject.

  6. Fair enough, I see what you are saying. Banning it as a whole certainly may not be a good idea as it does help some students out. Most of my stance on the issue comes from the immense discomfort I remember from my own health classes in high school.

  8. The question in the title and the one in the post are actually two different things. Regarding the question in the title about the best looking title, this is actually a highly subjective thing. For example, Fata Morgana is regarded by some as a very good looking title because of its unique art style, but its production values are actually quite low. The backgrounds are just blured photographs, its not even voiced and only the main characters have sprites with very little variations. So what title looks best to YOU is hard to answer because it's so subjective. The best advice I can give you is to check out some titles from some of the most popular VN artists: Popular artists with cute moe art: - Kobuichi & Muririn (Yuzusoft) - Moe art with highly dynamic sprites - Nishimata Aoi (Navel) - Very popular moe art - Hatozuki Tsumiki & Mitsuki & Yakuri (Eushully) - High quality fantasy manga art more on the moe-side - Koku (Purple Software) - Good combination of moe and erotic art Popular artists with more mature characters: - Komori Kei (Ricotta) - Very good erotic art with more mature characters - Iizuki Tasuku (Hibiki Works) - Famous for the Lovely & Cation titles. Very good erotic art with more mature characters - Amasaka Takashi & Kaneusu Tato & Kazuma (Clip Craft) - Very good erotic art with more mature characters - G Yuusuke (Light) - Specialized in very stylish chuuni art - Kagami (Lilith) - Infamous artist specialized in erotic fetish art with more mature characters Popular artists with a more realistic art style: - Suigina Miki (Innocent Grey) - Very good mixture of realistic art with manga art and more mature and realistic looking characters - Sei Shoujo (Empress) - Infamous artist specialized in erotic fetish art with more mature and realistic looking characters - M&M (Astronauts: Sirius) - Very good erotic art with more mature and realistic looking characters The question about the production values is somewhat easier to answer since it allows a more objective point of view. In general, titles with high production values usually have the following characteristics: - Lots of event CG's - Lots of character sprites - not only for main characters but also for side characters - Even background actors are drawn (Very rare nowadays, but older titles like Clannad, Shuffle or Ever17 put a lot of effort into those) - All characters voiced, including high profile voice actors - Backgrounds are drawn and not cheaply produced blured photographs - Usage of high profile artists - Usage of special effects like animation - High profile writers and composers Titles with huge art content are hard to realize with just a single artist. For that reason titles with high production values usually have multiple artists, or one artists who gets several years time for it, like Komori Kei with Walkure Romanze or Sei Shoujo with Starless. Background art in particular can also be bought by an external company without having to bother your main artist with it. Since older titles usually have rather old fashioned art styles by todays standards, I'll split the answer in older and newer titles. Amongst older titles, I'd say the highest production values probably had MuvLuv Alternative, followed by Fate/Stay Night and Ever17. If it comes to newer titles, the top contenders are probably Eushully titles, because they also have a fairly high quality J-RPG included. Minori is famous for expensive high quality art but they usually have few characters and I'm not sure if their newer titles stand out as much as their older titles. I personally liked the character designs of their older titles ef, Eden or Supipara more than their newer titles. The Koihime series from BaseSon is also infamous for their high production values because their titles are extremely long with millions of voiced characters. MangaGamer still couldn't afford to bring over any of their newer titles. Innocent Grey titles also have very high production values even if they seem to be a lot cheaper than BaseSon titles. Otherwise MangaGamer wouldn't have been able to afford them - cheaper voice costs I guess. If I should make a personal pick of a title I played with the best combination of high production values and good looking art the it would be probably Kamidori Alchemy Meister from Eushully. The content was just insane and I really like their art style. In my subjective view, there are two companies which have an even better character art style - Ricotta and Clipcraft - but neither of those can deal with the pure mass of content of an Eushully title.

  9. Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~ Summary Springtime. The season of the cherry blossoms, and a time of new beginnings, new encounters, and new people. For Aoba Kyousuke, this new season marks the start of his second year in high school, and after taking a moment to reflect, and looking at the friends around him... All he can find is a dumbass too horny for his own good, and a weirdo who can't get over his strange fetish for lizard-humanoid creatures. Sure enough he enjoys hanging out with them, and he wouldn't ever think of giving it up, but something feels missing. A precious, valuable part of everyone's adolescence, and something he might just miss out on at this rate... What is that something? Why, love. So upon realizing this, he shouts out to the world-- "I WANT A GIRLFRIEND!" He'll need to give it his all, of course, because he knows that love does not come to those who just wait. Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order There are four heroines. In order to get into the routes proper, you must select the heroine in the choice screen (when available) and then select to talk about topics that interest her. This walkthrough will, among other things, clarify which topics interest a heroine. By selecting the topics within the walkthrough you will always receive a decent amount of affection and you may choose any combination of topics that interests you. Walkthrough Talk topics will be in brackets [] with the relevant questions for any heroine underneath between quotes "". Sometimes these questions will lead to further questions, which will be indicated by -->. Some questions seem to provide more affection, so I'll mark those with (EXTRA). (Will be removed in the final version of the guide) Not all possible questions will be presented, but there are enough that you will be able to move to the next stage. NOTE: For some of the girls, when you have one at stage 4 and another at stage 3 a jealousy short scene will display. Hiiragi Yuzuyu Mochizuki Rina Minahara Himari ??? 10. Today I decided to rewatch a few clips from Rewrite anime, just to be reminded of how absolutely lackluster this thing is, but then I realized that its openings are actually pretty good: And it seems to be a pretty common thing between VN adaptations to have openings much better than actual shows. So, I decided to make a thread about it. Basically, have you ever thought that some mediocre anime had a great opening? Discuss!

  16. Yuzuyuzuyuzuyuzuyuzuyuzuyuz's "big backstory"-moment was kind of weird. Like, there was no setup for Yeah, that was kind of strange, especially when in Rina's story all of that flowed way more natural. But in the end, it's one 10 minute scene after 8 hours of lovey-dovey sugary romance so I won't remember that as a big dealbreaker. Also, I have to give Smee credit for what I call "putting all the money on screen". Giving you the choice of hairstyle for multiple characters and having them swap outfits for every date, while applying those customizations to the CGs too is not cheap and not easy to do. I vividly remember how Sakura Spirit couldn't even bother to make new sprites for the kimono-festival scene (I'm not sure if it was, but I wouldn't be surprised if that scene was actually called "kimono-festival"-scene in the script), leading to the main characters holding invisible weapons. Paying artists (or a sweatshop full with children) ain't cheap, so probs to Fureraba. EDIT: Misaki is a precious cinnamon bun and needs to be loved.

  21. Oh yeah, definitely. Catholicism ideology with respect to sexuality is way more restrictive than the one found in other cultures, that's for sure. What I meant is that that strict mindset itself that arouse in this particular religion is but a consequence of that psycological inclination that surfaces slightly different (or arguably sometimes at all) in different cultures. Ha, they had us putting them on a banana Go figure. Yep, I totally agree that it would be phenomenal is such topics could be addressed naturally; but as it is, I think the only way to make teenagers take it seriously and not laugh it off is to approach it as all the other sciences in school. It is my hope that once they are well aware of why they should be concerned about the topic, they will research the needed information for practical usage in due time. Maybe not, and I'm too optimistic, but that'd be my best bet.

  22. While I'm not a biologist, I can easily come up with a few theories. Some pack animals have rules where only the leader of each gender is allowed to reproduce, which is an ok survival strategy if the food supply doesn't support more offspring. It's also survival of the fittest. However lower ranking animals want some action as well and to get that, they have to do it when nobody will notice. Some animals, like wolves, will downright kill for doing it without permission. Another possible reason is while it's easy to identify the mother of a child, the father can only be sure by completely excluding other men. Ancient Greece had the law that if a man found his wife's lover doing it with his wife, he could legally kill the lover. Getting people to cover up could be a mean to not make married women "advertise" towards other men. While I would not single out Catholicism, it may not be completely innocent. If we look at written records from when Christianity clashed with vikings, the monks flamed the barbaric people who had no problem with public nudity. It seems that they used clothing due to temperature, but didn't mind nudity when bathing in public, or possibly even in general. When the vikings converted at the end of the viking era, the church tried to get rid of the nudity right away. Sounds fairly familiar to the Americans arriving in Japan and trying to get onsens banned due to nudity. I totally agree. Not telling what is normal tend to make disillusions about normal, which then give rise to perversions. Humans have reproduced since the dawn of time and as such is completely natural for us. What tells us apart from animals is reason and the ability to share experience to prevent each individual from learning the hard way. Sometimes learning the hard way will not give you another chance. One thing, which women seem to have to learn the hard way is that birth control pills cause blood clots and are suspected of causing cancer. This seems to not be taught anywhere and often skipped at the doctor when asking for pills, yet we have the knowledge that they aren't without risks. I agree and disagree at the same time. Studies have shown that it a couple use condoms correctly every time, the risk of a pregnancy is 2%/year. If they use it like people normally use them, the risk increases to 10%. Education, written guide or something could be useful. I'm not saying we should have children putting them on dummies, but at the same time we shouldn't say it's so simple that they figure it out on their own. Apart from that, I agree. It should be a topic, which is taught in biology and in some way distant itself from the fact that it's about humans and become more fact based than... well genital based.

  23. Comparing human sperm production to that of other primates it is likely that early humans have had social monogamy, while having sexual polygamy. If there is no social monogamy at all the sperm production should be much larger like for instance that of the chimpanzee, this is due to there being higher competition among sperm. If a male had no competition for sperm they would only need to produce a small amount of sperm, this can be seen in gorillas. We humans are at a level between these extreemes which means there were likely pair bonding, but that the females and males also had sex outside of that pair. For the male the general adaptation to this problem other than higher sperm production is to punish or leave the female if the female cheats with the male. Since humans have men partisipating in childcare it could be better evolutionary speaking to leave the female if they are likely to find a more faithful female. I would assume that this causes there to be a biological reason as to why males then feel really bad if they are cheated on. Then let us add this feeling into a society controlled by males. Since the males really hate the feeling of being cheated on they impose rules to prevent this. This takes shape in rules that limit the female's chance of having sex with anyone other than her social mate and gives strict punishment if she cheats. This is probably the basics of it then when you add more complex societies often with one or a few males leading you probably get many odd rules based on how those few people themselves think that become the norm and thus lives on from generation to generation. This is at least how I figure this is likely to have happened.

  24. Teaching realistic sexual education in high school should be essential I think. It boggles my mind that people in developed countries(I'm including the states of course) still have such fucked up notions on sex. Leaving it up to the parents or their peers is a mistake in my opinion. Ideally yeah parents should talk about sex with their kid but odds are a lot of them won't and a lot of the ones that do will try to enforce the abstinence only myth. On the flipside peers might certainly talk about sex but they'll probably regurgitate whatever popular myths about sex that's around.
    1 point
  25. I have my biases as a sociologist, but I would arguement that it's more likely connected to the fact that most cultures had to regulate reproduction in various ways in order to survive, creating certain taboos and limitations. There's also the problem of power - mostly male domination and the problem of guaranteeing fatherhood. Possibly partially instinctive, I guess, as many animals don't tolerate offspring from other males, but definitely enchanced through culture, with all the strict rules of chastity and virginity that applied exclusively, or mostly towards women. There are, or maybe, there were cultures that didn't assiociate sexuality with shame (described for example by Bronislaw Malinowski, one of the pioneers of modern anthropology) - many of them were colonized and their attitudes changes through christianisation and such... As much as we could discuss the quality and effectiveness of sex ed, there are more than enough prooffs that pushing the topic out of school or learning backward, repressive attitudes is counter-productive and definitely it saddens me too whenever I see it. It's not a coinsidence that the southern US states that push abstinence-only education have rampant rates of child pregnancy and STDs. Even if it's hard and uncomfortable, teaching teeangers about their sexuality is very damn important - if 5-10% of that information gets through, it can save some people from literal tragedies. And as long as prudish, close-minded morons bar it from entering schools, we can't possibly work on making it more comfortable and effective.

  26. First of all I'd like to address the issue of shyness and shame. I've been reading in this topic that some people attribute western culture and religion an effect in the japanese mentality. I beg to differ. While it's undeniably the case that sex is a taboo in the catholic religion, I believe it's a symptom rather than a cause. It can't be coincidental that in the great majority of cultures on earth, as isolated as they might be, people show shame and cover up their genitals. What's more, if you analyze language, you see that it's almost a universal that a big part of the insults and derogatory terms come from the words for sexual organs or the action of sexual intercourse (probably the second most frequent origin, following scatological procedence) . That goes to show that there's some psycological trait in human beings that links sex with shame and filthiness. Why is this? I have no idea. There's probably some darwinian reason, but I personally don't know. Perhaps some biologist here can shed some light on this? Anyway, regarding the sex ed banning in Japan... it saddens me. The severe effects of desinformation are very concerning, of course, but even beyond that, it's obvious that avoiding the topic so blatantly does not any good at all nor leads to a process of normalization of what should be regarded as a normal physiological human behaviour, such as eating or sleeping. It might be true that there's something in our psyche that generates that inclination, but the same could be said about xenophobia, and yet we still try to fight it with reason and science and do our best to erradicate it. We humans are always so proud to claim that we overcame our natural instincts with our mind. Well, failing to acknowledge sex education as something as serious and relevant for our life as nutritional information could be is definitely a step in the wrong direction.

  27. Well, if it's not interesting, it's unlikely to capture the attention of teens nor will it register in their brains. Tbh, I don't have much of a clue how Sex Ed classes in the US are, but i imagine these classes generally fall into one of the 2 following categories (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong): 1) the class is boring as well, and most of the student sleeps through it 2) in an attempt to make it interesting to the majority of the class, the teacher attempts to joke during his/her lecture, but the focus will be on the humor instead of the material itself I question how effective is the class if one of the above is true. Also, people don't generally care much about consequences unless they experienced it in some sort of form before, especially not when the only source of this comes from a class which they may very well not pay attention to. I don't imagine most will care much too when told 'here exist incurable skin transferred STDs, which condoms do not protect against and can in some cases move from the skin and go inside where it turns women barren' (your comment on UK sex ed in one your earlier post proves my point), although it might make them more cautious. Sex occurs in 2 conditions; non-consensual (rape) or consensual. For rape, nth much needs to be said. As for consensual, I believe most will be slept up by the moment to care (too) much about what the sex ed teaches. Actually, the technical aspects and consequences of sex shouldn't be taught in sex ed class (as they are boring as hell) and can probably be summarise into biology or social studies classes (or something like that) I believe (I think those are better ways) . I think sex ed should be all these: aka, all about responsible sex. In this case, I believe or, not very effective at all. Anyway, despite all of these, I believe you make a lot of valid points. Thumbs up

  29. I updated the first post. I realized this would be needed when I read this: 2) has been proven to not spread automatically to curious teens because if it did, then I wouldn't have had to update the first post. The shaving thing is actually a big issue as girls in the gym tell each other to shave because unshaven are repulsive and spread disease. They tell that everybody have to shave to remove the risk of spreading stuff in the showers. It's totally made up and the shaving actually send a significant number of girls to the doctor due to the resulting skin infections. Those infections can appear due to being cut or lack of air between skin and cloth, which traps sweat and as such is not in the STD family, though it can be equally serious. Let's be honest. How many of you knew that there exist incurable skin transferred STDs, which condoms do not protect against and can in some cases move from the skin and go inside where it turns women barren? It's information like this, which needs to be in sex ed even if it might not be interesting at the time. I didn't get into the university of my choice in first attempt by not paying attention in class just don't mention art class or anything related to that

  30. I think the point of his posts are that sex-education aren't even close to being quite-effective in tackling the high number of school pregnancy (which I agree) and not on the technical aspect of sex education. For the highlighted part, I'm pretty sure a lot of teenagers are not paying as much attention to these as you (lolz) in sex-ed class or are plain bored of it as I'm pretty sure a lot of them already knows. Sex is a hot topic for teens and as such I'm pretty sure they would have found other ways to get more info on it elsewhere. Besides, if the sex ed class is only good for these points: 1) Sex leads to pregnancy. Unwanted and unprepared pregnancy leads to a lot of problems 2) Unprotected sex may leads to sexually transmitted diseases, which will ruin or even end your life then, i question how effective is it as I'm pretty sure most teens only need common sense and some curiosity to know about it for themselves. To be effective at communicating the seriousness of 1) and 2), you are going to have to delve a lot deeper into them, but then it will fall into the realm of preaching, and most anyone, let alone teens. will be unable to stay awake and listen, lolz Ofc, I still support sex-ed classes being around for reasons mentioned in my earlier posts

  31. Absolutely true, but not the point of my post. I agree with most of what you said and never believed that this kind of class will really turn this situation around. The point of my post is there is a group of people who can / may greatly benefits from this kind of class, and the resources it takes up is rather small considering the potential benefits it has (at the very least. it will definitely improve the situation, no matter how small). Don't think it's worth it to ban the class just because of their hypocrisy ideals

  32. Japanese (teenagers) aren't THAT impressionable imo (at least I hope not), with proof of it being Hentai, AV, and media with 18+ sexual content have been around for a long time and Japan certainty isn't a country of bitches and rapists. Thank god Otherwise, image the horror ... I see. Very unfortunate imo........

  33. Well many things in Japan don't make sense to be honest. For instance they have long work hours even though too long work hours ends up hurting productivity as the people become less productive as they are tired and start slowing down their work. These long work hours also make it so that maintaining a well functioning family is nearly impossible which is likely why the birthrates are dropping as fast as they are. This means that their long work hours seems to only be destuctive yet they haven't changed it. I generally blame the school system in Japan as they only use multiple choice as tests and rarely or never have to actually think for themselves on the tests or actually write anything of substance. To my understanding the mentality in Japan is pretty much just trust the people in politics and the people who are leaders and never think about it yourself. The people that end up as leaders often aren't that smart either since they have gone through the same bad school system and therefore they end up with laws and norms that are stupid and they never really seem to actively try to fix problems. So what I am saying is that the school system in Japan is creating a general population that aren't politically active or aware and it creates politicians that don't think about things and just do things the way they have been handles so far because it is "the correct way". While the laws and norms can be traced back in history and are due to anti sex/anti porn sentiment I think better school systems would have made it likely that they would have changed it once they saw how problematic the lack of sex ed is.

Finished Marie's route in Dies Irae and can't help but feel awed by it. Kasumi's route and Kei's route were pretty good but Marie's route is on a whole new level. If I am to compare Dies Irae to Fate Stay Night, Kasumi's route and Kei's route would be like Fate and Marie's route would be like Unlimited Blade Works. I have a feeling that the final route (Rea's route) will be like Heaven's Feel but we'll see.

  39. Not dead! Just got lots of stuff going on IRL at the moment. I can't make an ETA for the blog post for now, but it will hopefully be done soon! What I can say is, it will be epic! I'm doing something new this time, and it's going to have more members than normal to make up for the missed chapter, so look forward to that!

  40. Trials and Tribulations is on a whole new level as compared to the first 2 games so I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you reach there (though I did like the graphics for Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice more)

    How are you doing?

If you ask me, studying abroad is overrated. I have seen some people spend a fortune on it without learning anything they couldn't have learned "at home". The issue is that you start by learning the basics, which you can more or less do anywhere. At the end of your university life (particularly if you aim higher than bachelor), your expertise has become so great that you can actually tell the difference between universities. At this point it would make sense to locate a university, which has specialized in something you can't learn "at home".

  42. As for sibling pair, I'll think I'll just go with Mamiya sibling from Subahibi for now because of spoiler reason. Both of them did have some serious issue back when they were in childhood, and that's said a lot considering what Subahibi is. I can't say anymore since basically the story around them is major spoiler for Subahibi, but just in case someone curious about the spoiler here it is. PS - For seiyuu joke here, interesting to note that Tokisaka siblings did have fought back at Dies Irae, as Reinhard (Reiji) and Kei (Yukari).

  46. If you want to know about all the VNs that have been officially released in english I made a list containing that not too long ago, should be a quick way to get informed about what is available since you probably don't know about too many titles at the moment. The VNs are sorted by popularity on vndb and average vndb vote, so it shouldn't be too difficult to use to find some interesting VNs.

  47. Seems pretty good man I wish you luck in your endeavors. I think I would have real trouble writing about children I'm sure any dialogue I wrote would end up sounding really weird. Anyway, this makes me jealous and I'm going to post something of my own, so there!

  48. Building on top of Zalor's post, I can give a quick and dirty version of my time here. Granted, I don't remember dates all that much. I joined early on in Fuwanovel's history because i needed help fixing sound in Never7. I never fixed it. I think early on, I didn't care about Aaeru hosting pre-patched torrents because for me, it was easily the best way to get a VN. I didn't trust purchasing through Mangagamer or Jast USA and this was well before steam VNs, aside from random ones like Analogue: A Hate Story, were a thing. Anyway, I read Ever17 and loved it a lot so I began to pick up other VNs and take part in more discussions on the forums. I never delved heavily into VNs though and mostly stuck to anime and gaming discussions. Early on, though, I remember clashing with sanahtlig. I don't know what the hell I was fighting with him over but thats hardly unique to me. Someone then made, likely tay or ryoji, a terrible mistake and promoted me to a moderator with some others, like Down and Steve. At once, I got into a big fight with aaeru over hosting licensed content. I don't recall what the it was though, possibly Steins;Gate? Or something related to it This went directly against a rule that had been set up, that Fuwanovel would not host licensed games. Anyway, I was kind of a dickwaffle and wasn't very nice. The staff ended up splitting into two camps over the issue. I do recall Ryoji and myself were on one side with Aaeru and Steve on the other. Then Tay stepped in like the mighty God he is, and somehow solved the situation. I think we ended up making it a rule that no licensed content would be hosted by Fuwanovel, that it was to be strictly fan TLs. This would come back to haunt the site when Clannad and Grisaia got licensed. Things chugged along for a bit, and I was quite active in doing nothing really. I do recall a spam war where suddenly everyone began posting AMA threads over and over. Your boi zakamutt was part of this if memory serves. By this point, aaeru's activity had begun falling off so Tay and Ryoji were left to deal with this situation. Ryoji favored the nuclear option of banning those involved. Tay wasn't too terribly eager to do so. I vaguely recall diving into the irc channel with him and talking the situation out. This marked the beginnings of the Coliseum of Chatter. Originally I think it was a single thread, and then a subforum, before it got split off into its own thing. Once again, Tay had achieved a middle ground. I think maybe one temp ban was handed out during all of this? Ryoji left the site, I don't remember the date but I remember it happening pretty vividly. Wasn't great. To try and bridge the gap, I volunteered to take the spot, never intending to actually keep it for a long amount of time. I admit, it was nice to finally be a higher rank than Steve, who was my nemesis on the site. I really didn't do much different than what I had been doing as a mod. I didn't feel it was my place to make any structural changes to the website so I tried to avoid doing anything major like that. The only thing I remember doing as an admin was spending 3 hours talking to steve in his cursed teamspeak channel to convince him that posting pictures of naked lolis wasn't great, and even posting p. risque ones could get people in trouble. Finally, after much talking, I finally convinced him to put them in spoiler tags and not post naked lolis. As the compromise, I went in and placed many of his pictures in spoiler tags to save him the effort. It was a dark, loli filled day for me, one I never want to repeat. Then the website blew up, thanks to aaeru pirating the software for the site. It was down for quite some time, nayleen stepped in and helped Tay get things back up. aaeru was long gone by this point, which complicated matters quite a bit. Regardless, Nay and Tay got things back up and running. I stepped down from the staff since I felt rather out of place, not knowing how to really help anymore. My activity declined somewhat around this time too, until Tay had a situation arise and had to leave for a while. As a result, Cybersteel took over the show and Steve was promoted to admin. Yeah... that was something. He asked me to come back as a moderator, thus beginning the meme of solidbatman joining and quitting the staff daily. I don't remember when it was exactly, that Clannad and Grisaia got licensed. Tay may have still been hanging around at this time? There was a huge debate over whether or not Fuwanovel should continue hosting those two VNs. I argued that they ought to be taken down as they were no longer fanTLs and a legitimate way of purchasing them was now available. Steve, and many others argued that because the official releases had a different translation, they technically were not the same and should be left up. The second part of their argument dealt with purchasing them from other countries (which as steam releases made little sense to me but not much about the VN community and culture does). They ended up being removed which marked the beginning of the end of hosting torrents of fanTLs on the website. Back to Steve's adminship. I ended up leaving the staff again shortly after when I realized I was only placed on the staff for optics. Steve, if memory serves which it may not as I am biased, really didn't listen to anyone and did whatever he really wanted to do. Admirable maybe, but I was not really in the mood to work under that knowing nothing I said or did would matter. In true Steve fashion, he argued with me for a couple hours trying to get me to stay on. Didn't work. Then Tay showed back up. What he managed to do still amazes me. He took down the torrents and kept Fuwanovel alive. I honestly have no idea how he managed to do this. Some members did leave over this and begin their own new fuwanovel thingy that does the same thing the old fuwanovel did. But the core of this site stayed intact. VNTS was revived by Zakamutt and Tay, and later Decay, who brought it into their current format. With the removal of torrents, Fuwanovel gained some legitimacy within the commercial VN industry. I've no doubt some fan translators still hate fuwanovel for hosting the pre-patched torrents but companies were willing to interact with Fuwanovel after the removal. FuwaReviews became a thing, and to be honest, thats all I cared about once we got it going. Ryechu did good work building some contacts within the industry to gain reviewers some review copies. I got into a twitter tiff with the Lupiesoft guy because I gave his shitty VN a low score after he gave us a review copy (the god damn game barely ran). I wrote the infamous Little Busters! review. The reaction was amazing. Doing FuwaReviews stuff was some of the most fun I think I had on this website. Regardless, with FuwaReviews, my interest in other parts of the site died off, and I no longer followed the happenings closely as they didn't concern me. Then I left all together for about 2 years before coming back in the past week due to boredom. So there is my 150% self-centered history of Fuwanovel. I admit its self-centered because all I really can remember is stuff I was involved with. Like I said before, I typically stayed out of VN discussions unless it was in regards to their distribution. Relevent comment from nay the bae about Steve:
