  1. Producer's notes: This new addition is to explain the questing mechanics in Black Sands. While it is a visual novel, there will be a lot of team management involved and you will have to solve mysteries and defeat enemies with your mental skills above all else. Are you a competent leader? QUEST MECHANICS SCOUTING – Scouting will consist of Base stats checks. Check will be made by the system which is specific to the area you wish to scout. Examples include… Having high enough wisdom to read ancient writings, letting you know of a secret passage. Having enough strength and agility to climb a cliff side. The danger in scouting is minimal however scouting takes time. Most of the time, it is best to send one person out per mission but occasionally, you may decide to bring a couple. Checks are usually solo checks so if one is incapable of passing it but another is, then it is a success regardless. INVESTIGATION – These quests are somewhat dangerous and can fail if you lose the element of surprise. Investigations tend to be for smaller groups, if not solo, and they can lead to valuable information regarding important locations or characters. Examples include… Examing the corpse of an ancient Anunnaki. Trying to find a Devic artifact. Your awareness is the most critical factor when it comes to investigations so keeping your awareness at peak performance is critical. Things that can lower your focus is triggering a trap, fighting, etc. Sure, you may be able to survive such things but you then become paranoid and miss things you might have previously not. TRACKING – Tracking missions are extremely difficult. They offer amazing rewards and events but also have extreme skill checks and timed decisions. Tracking missions are also limited response missions. It can only be attempted once before the mission is gone. Examples include.. Something has been indiscriminately killing everything that comes across its path. These tracks are not of this world. These missions will test your mettle at on the spot decision making. Only the best trackers will unlock all the potential rewards from capturing or slaying the most elusive in the Rift. EXPLORATION – Sometimes curiosity gets the better of you. Sometimes you don’t have time to play it safe. Either way, you have no idea what to expect. Explorations are dangerous because everything is unknown. You may unlock new quests or run into an enemy you can’t defeat. Examples include… An ancient facility that is opened due to an earthquake but lava is going to consume it in 3 days. I saw something in the distance with a metallic reflection. We should check it out. These missions are fun and can leave the heart pounding. Make sure you have your supplies incase the ish hits the fan. CASUAL – These are relaxing events where you get a lot of choices to effect the relationship you have with the others. Whether its training, swimming, or enjoying one of the only sunny days you get in the Rift. Every day is special. Main Story – These quests are long and can have multiple parts. It is best to do anything related to the quest prior to it to have the maximum chance of defeating it.

    Wizards Complex

Hmm... I could say a lot about this VN... NOT. To be honest, this VN is a perfect example of how a VN can have a decent concept, a decent staff, good art, good music, and an interesting (if derivative, at this point) setting... and fall flat on the details. Wizard's Complex is a fantasy VN, based in a future where magic and magic technology have become an accepted part of life (this is a setting type first done effectively in Suzunone Seven by Clochette). In this world, all magic users are women... except the protagonist (basically an excuse to send him to an all-girls school where there will be no rivals, lol). Now, perhaps one of the biggest down points of this VN is the protagonist. It isn't his personality, its his role. To be perfectly honest, his personality isn't interesting either, but his role in the VN is so often passive or reactive that it completely ruins the entire setup. While cipher protagonists are common to charage in general, this was one of those cases where it probably wasn't a good idea, as the heroines in this VN are all a bit... meh. First, Honoka... she is the classic 'kind-hearted airhead prodigy' archetype that some VNs have thrown up in the past. She's the type that will honestly and wholeheartedly endorse wishes for world peace and still believes in the idea of a knight in shining armor as the ideal love interest. I'm going to be blunt, for first and later impressions, she was the most irritating heroine in the VN. While she will occasionally break character by acting in a manner that seems out of sync with her archetype, that is only to reinforce that the core of her personality, as presented, is exactly what I just defined it as. Iris... I picked her first. Why? I always pick foreigner heroines first. I always pick heroines who are out of place above all other things, and in most cases, it is the foreigner heroine who is most obviously out of place. Iris is... frail, fragile, and weak-willed... until she isn't. Her base personality is exactly how I just described her, but in her path, she does manage to break the mold a few times... unfortunately, the pacing in her path is godawful (this applies to all the paths to one extent or another), and I was honestly left behind as the romance and events progressed in her path. Kazuha... I'll be honest. I liked Kazuha at first, but she falls into the classic pitfall of giving the 'martial artist heroine' too many weaknesses... not to mention that she is one of those classic ones who is constantly talking about how her hobbies don't fit her outward persona. This drove me crazy both in and outside her path, and it wasn't helped by the fact that the protagonist is so... passive. Mei... a gamer heroine is a rare type, even now. Moreover, one that is aiming to become a pro gamer is a first in a VN I've played. I'm sorry, but I hate one-sided rival heroines (the ones who feel a rivalry for another character who doesn't even recognize their existence). This is made even worse because Melissa, one of the sub-heroines, has an almost identical role in her 'rivalry' toward Kazuha. As a result, her half-idiot personality looks even more uninteresting than it would otherwise. This is a presentation issue, more than anything else. Last of all, I need to talk about the common route. This thing is too short. I hate to say it, but charage with short common routes just don't work, if they don't have an above-average set of heroine routes in terms of length and non-ichaicha detail. I'm pretty sure the writer thought s/he was making you like the characters, but the branch-off point basically serves to truncate the protagonist's own evolution, weakening an already weak and undefined main character. Overall, this is one of those utterly mediocre VNs that occasionally get produced by great companies... I'm tempted to cynically lump this VN in with all the other VNs that amputated their own potential over the last few years, and I probably should... but beginners to VNs who have a taste for moe will probably get at least some enjoyment out of this. For me, this was a VN with at least some potential that deliberately shot itself in the leg, but - like many mediocre VNs - it will probably get eaten up like ice cream at a birthday party by the moe-addicts, though not with the kind of relish you'd see in the case of one of Favorite's games. Edit: Understand, I did like some parts and others made me smile... but having played much better VNs that used a similar setting (with better characters) made it virtually impossible to enjoy this VN without serious reservations. I honestly like some of the conflicts, but the way it was presented made it impossible to get emotionally invested. Edit2: This protagonist is a cipher in the truest sense, as he literally doesn't have any interest or goals outside of the heroines. Generally speaking, this is not a good idea in any protagonist, as it leaves them with nothing to draw the heroines except their 'personality', which is pathetically underdeveloped, in most cases.

Kickstarter Live now! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1183318884/false-elegy-the-dark-fantasy-visual-novel In order to find his lost friend, a divine entity has to bind with a beautiful demon corrupted by sin. With their lives connected as one, the only way to survive is by withstanding heaven and hell together. "This messed up world consists of those who fall and those who thrive off of the fallen. Whatever you choose, you'll be one of the two." Since the dawn of man, Ascendants have been seen soaring in the skies. To the humans, they are ethereal, divine and immortal beings; guardians of earth and protectors of humankind. But even among the Ascendants, there are those who have Fallen. Areon is an Ascendant who hunts the creatures born from sin; the Fallen. Together with his partner Eden, he purges the world little by little. Everything goes effortlessly until Areon is asked to participate in the Divinity project; a project to rehabilitate Fallen. Only the best Ascendants are chosen due to the dangers. During the project, a Divinity Link will be formed between the two until one Ascends, or one Falls. At the selection, the beautiful Ark caught his attention. A Fallen that had been caught three weeks ago, but never approached due to her insanely corrupted personality. Areon, undaunted by her ferocity, forms a link with Ark. However, he did not realize that his powers will be irrelevant. What will be challenged are his wits, resolve, and mental fortitude. What awaits him is a bigger task than he could have ever imagined. Hearthstone

The meta will probably start to settle down soon. Kinda funny that the last month of doing an arena run a day or so set me up this well for competitive play... Back in the beta I was absolutely terrible at the game, even though I played it a lot. It took me like, 2 years to be able to build a good deck. One month of casual play is all that it takes now, though. I'll be playing mostly variations of shaman and paladin, both aggressive (though shaman pulls a bit to the midrange side.) I'll probably push for legend again, just so that I can feel smug about hiting it in a pretty new F2P account. When I hit it last year, I had basically a full collection, after all. Anyone else has plans for this season?

  8. Sorcery Jokers Shinigami no Testament Bloody Rondo Gensou no Idea (in other words, anything by 3rdeye) Devils Devel Concept Draculius Dies Irae (obligatory) ExE Ruitomo Tenshi no Hane wo Fumanaide Hello, Lady Yurikago yori Tenshi made Zero Infinity Gleam Garden no Shoujo Gurenka Para-sol Soranica Ele Edit: @AKB4ty7 These have varying levels of balance between serious and non-serious elements. Gleam Garden is probably not precisely what you are looking for, since the darkness is out in the open and the school is a prison, for instance. Para-sol was written by a guy with a penchant for old-style yandere and incest, so it is a bit weird... also, you have to download the full updates in order to get the entire story (which is annoying). Gurenka, Yurikago, Ruitomo, ExE and the 3rdEye games are the ones most obviously fitting in with what you want. Dies Irae, Jingai Makyou, Soranica Ele, and Zero Infinity all have pretty high difficulty levels (considering who produced them, that should go without saying), so you might want to leave them for last if you don't want to challenge yourself.

Hmmm, if I was just gonna name a few (this isn't a comprehensive list by any means), I'd say O Brother Where Art Thou, Drive, Pulp Fiction, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and Watchmen. I might post some more of my favorites later, when it's not almost 1 AM. OBWAT and Pulp Fiction make the list because they're both hilarious and very well-written, Drive makes it because it's basically Hotline Miami the movie and I just love pretty much everything about it, TESB because it's one of my favorite sci-fi films of all time, and Watchmen because it's the truest comic book-to-movie adaptation that I've ever seen. A warning, though, don't watch Drive unless you can deal with gore, and I wouldn't recommend Watchmen unless you already read the comic book, as it can get quite confusing if you don't know what's going on. EDIT: Apparently I was just supposed to name just one? Can't really anyway, so whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  19. Hataraku Maou-sama (Good humor and overall my favorite "SoL" LN) Date A Live (One of the only LN series to be fully translated into English and it's overall a very rich and extensive experience) Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan (My newest love in LNs. It's fast-paced, has plenty of humor but also sad and pressing moments, and has romance that actually develops, and in the very beginning too)

  24. Hello! I am an illustrator and I love graphic novels and I especially love drawing concept art, character designs and background works. I would love to be involved in a VN project in the future. These are a few examples. I am very stylistic but I can easily tweak my art to fit a specific style and I work well with deadlines. I work with Sai, Photoshop, and After Effects so I can animate as well. If you would like more examples of my artwork or would like to see something specific PM me, please. Thank you.

  26. Cheaper and shorter installments instead of a massive game in bulk might be one of the directions the industry heads in. There's a lot of benefits to this type of development. Anyway, treating this practice as a negative and saying it's like paying '3 times for one game' is akin to saying 'Robert Jordan forced consumers to pay 15 times for one story. He should have just sold the whole damn story at once.' Obviously a ridiculous statement. Decay is right in saying there are factors which will need to be taken into account before making a judgement one way or the other. There's nothing wrong with the practice, rather the implementation of this practice. We really don't know any details, yet.

  28. Well it's interesting to me, angels trying to bring up fallen angels, it's like saying no matter how far you fall you can get right back up with some help. The character designs look good to me and 15-20 hours would be enough to build a story like this, provided it doesn't have a branching plot. This main character however seems like a GARY STU!!!, I really hope that's not the case, a real hero to me needs to be made not born. I wish you the best of luck with the project and happy writing.

  29. Because it can never be said enough: Guys do not ejaculate massive amounts of semen during sex. Your typical male spurts out about a teaspoon of semen. Not nearly enough to drench the poor heroine in a sea of briny cum. Most guys are not going to be able to have sex 2-4 times in one session. Especially not virgin protagonists. You have to be like Sting to be able to fuck like that. Most guys are not Sting. They need time to recharge. AND, even if the guy does manage a second go-round, he does NOT spurt forth even more semen than the first time. It's almost always less. Cum together? Right now? No, just me. (The Beatles would kill me.) It's very rare the two people rutting manage to cum together. And it's also really hard to try and time it by holding back just so it can happen. It's stupid. Know what happens? One person cums at a time. If it's the guy then hopefully the girl has already came, otherwise she may end up disappointed. If it's the girl, she can hope for a multiple, or endure the guy until he finally climaxes. Phrases never heard from the girl during sex: "Your cum, it's so warm." "Let's cum together." "You're tearing me apart, but since it's you I can bear it." "Fill me with your love juices." "It's so big."
