  1. I just got a refund for my copy. To me personally, this is a matter of principle. I have had bad experiences with Sekai Project in the past, but chose to buy this game either way, with the thought: "hopefully this one will be handled well, at least," much like Dovac himself. (See this) It sadly wasn't. People make mistakes, yes, and if this had been their first big mistake, I would have given them a chance to make up for it, but ... well, there is a reason why the document above has five different apologies, not just one. In addition, while I understand that to some people, a handful of censored CGs isn't that big of a deal, it is to me, and many others. I specifically paid for an adult version of the game, and the assets in the story itself are still all-ages. Not to mention, noticing this mistake is very easy. It took me a couple of minutes to notice it, and I wasn't actually looking for any issues when I did, I just stumbled across it. So, not only is this a mistake that should not happen, but it is a pretty big deal, all in all, despite "only being a handful of CGs." The game is literally not what I paid for. The TL being kind of awkward just puts the final nail in the coffin for me, and I chose to ask for a refund. That being said, people throwing around death threats and going on crazy witch hunts are being completely silly. (And it in fact just drowns out the actual proper complaints people have, so please, stop that stuff...) Fakku is being very helpful and understanding, which is good. People who are dissapointed can get refunds. Dovac's apology post is also a step in the right direction. I do hope that SP will improve moving forward, but I will personally not buy any more of their games until I see this happen. I gave them one more chance with Maitetsu, and it sadly did not go very well. Hopefully the issue gets fixed soon, for the people who chose not to get a refund, and patiently wait for the fix to be implemented.

  2. 99% of SP's workers are just freelance so yes he is just like the 3 other normal employees.

  3. You mean he fixed issues that were not issues and made it even worse???

  4. Correct. None of the h-scenes are in the main story in the Japanese version. They're all intended to only be accessible via menu. Kinda like how Chrono Clock or eden* were. The Fakku version has all of those scenes. Mountains out of molehills, imo. A handful of altered or missing ecchi CGs and a dozen lines without voices is not the end of the world. The translation accuracy is a bigger concern, but I dunno if I trust Fakku comments on that. This whole ordeal seems way over-dramatic for how small the issue really is. Like, should it have been released in this state? No, and I do hope it gets fixed soon. But is it really bad enough to start a witch hunt for responsible parties and demand refunds? Even Fakku's initial statement seemed outrageous to me. I get the feeling that they are just trying to win points with the anti-SP and anti-censorship crowds and are willing to stir up drama and throw SP under the bus to get these points.

  5. Ha ha a year older ... thanks everyone for reminding me I had someone at the bank remind me also, then start a long conversation about it, a conversation that just wouldn't end and I'm standing there thinking do they employ you specifically to make your customers feel bad? Is that it? It doesn't matter how depressed I feel, I'm not opening another account you know... Happy birthday @Jun Inoue may your day be blessed with *insert randomly generated google saying*

  6. I lost the bet, but somehow everyone lost. The buyers because they will probably-at some point-maybe get what they paid for, SP and Fakku for actively losing sales to the negative response and Lose for actively fucking up their first on step into the western market. What an utter embarrassment for everyone involved. Especially me.

  7. I mean, I understand where they are coming from. They have no control over the assets in the game, so they can't fix it. They just sell the game, but end up getting complaints left and right. So, obviously they feel some spite towards SP, who were ultimately at fault for this. They seem to be saying that they would never make a mistake like that, and if they did, they would fix it asap. (Of course, I have not bought much from Fakku in the past, so whether that is true or not, I have no idea.) As a new customer, though, I very much like what I see from them, so that's something. Also Hmm...

  9. Can confirm all of this. I'm playing the game now and enjoying the heck out of it (the Yaegashi Nan art is certainly helping with that!), but the combat isn't particularly involved or strategic or difficult, at least so far; I'm admittedly not that far in. It is also a little punishing in terms of sheer number of random encounters, unless you're religious about sticking to the roads, and who wants to do that in an RPG? It's a major step up from any other H-RPG I've played (side-bar required at this point: I haven't played Rance), but it's not on par with any non-H RPG I would consider worth playing. But the characters are fun, and there are a whole lot of them, so I'm going to go back to playing it right now!

  12. Yeah it's a leadership problem, not a problem with a specific low level worker. Considering he has the steam version, it's quite possible he did QA/QC on the steam version only and that version isn't affected, or rather it's intentionally affected. In other words you can't blame quality testing of the steam version at all. What you can blame is how fast the 18+ was made, which is a leadership decision. Somewhere a leader made the decision to make the 18+ version in a single day or something like that, including testing. Even if the worker in question wants to make it perfect, there simply isn't enough time to catch issues if you don't have the required number of days. In other words it looks like it's a cost cutting issue with the leadership, which backfired. Imagine if all the non-H scenes were identical, then they would have skipped out on paying for testing and nobody would have noticed. Playing the blame game gets us nowhere. That's kind of like knocking over a trashcan and then blame each other for days instead of cleaning up. Right now the case is very simple. SP messed up as a company and SP has to take responsibility and fix it. If one person screwed up, leadership made a bad decision, their internal structure is screwed or whatever. It doesn't really matter to anybody other than SP. Even if it happens to be the QC guy, who failed, the problem is still elsewhere for allowing a structure, which can ship such a blunder due to a single point of failure. Also it should have been fixed prior to QC meaning if QC is to blame, somebody else is also to blame. Personally I don't care who did what to lead to this problem. Just fix it ASAP and get it right this time. EDIT: Japan has already revealed the outcome of the blame game. At some point in time, the media bashed all doctors whenever a single doctor made one mistake. As a result, young people stopped wanting to study medicine because such people are all horrible and are on public display for being bad. Now people are dying due to hospitals being understaffed because more doctors retire than new are trained. It might have improved today as this is a few years old, but the idea is the same. If you are always bashed for having anything to do with a translation project even if you do everything right, you might quit or not start at all, effectively kill off the localization of VNs.

  13. +1 I mean, in which way was that an unexpected result?

  14. Same here. This game deserves better treatment. I'm actually pissed off at SP for their constant late incompetency regarding western vn releases. How many times are they planning to repeat the same exact mistakes? At times it feels like a bunch of kids running a company, rather than adult people.

  15. So, Sekai being incompetent again. Nothing new.

    Mount Rushmore of VNs?

Which would you consider the 4 most important (not best or favorite) VNs of all time? Trying to be objective and japanese-centric based on what i've heard about the history of VNs my choices would be: YU-NO: Helped define a VN as it's own genre, by combining adventure game and dating sim elements. To Heart: Had one of its' songs make it to japanese radio and likely started the "top eroge songs" trend that is on the japanese VN community to this day. Kanon: Became so famous that it pretty much jumpstarted the VN community by itself. Higurashi: Was the first VN to reach big mainstream appeal beyond the VN genre (Clannad, School Days, Steins Gate and Fate Stay Night followed after).
