Finally a honest comment I can fully agree with. I used to be a Key fan, but I wasn't ever fond of their overuse of classical tropes that repeated in every single one of their games. After a while they clearly prove they're unable to climb out of the hole they dug under themselves. Nowadays, I consider Planetarian to be their only remarkable creation. Most of their remaining games prove to be more of a commercial success with frequent, much better anime adaptations and less in terms of actual and coherent vns.

G-Collections was originally kind of like MangaGamer is now: wholly owned by CD-Bros. Then CD-Bros almost completely collapsed. GC now is a brand owned by Jast USA. That happened because Peter Payne went to CD-Bros, and paid them for the brand name, and all the titles. The new titles released after Sagara Family and Figures of Happiness are titles Peter licensed per the usual way. Nocturnal Illusion and the other handful of really old releases are a strange story. I presume those fall under "old, poorly drafted contracts" because Peter has been able to re-release Nocturnal Illusion numerous times over the years, even though the Japanese company that made the game went under years before.

In the early days, a lot of Japanese companies didn't know how to write contracts. This is how Harmony Gold still has Macross tied up. But stories like that are why they don't negotiate contracts like that anymore. Typically a contract will be for a limited time (meaning that the rights will eventually expire; witness MangaGamer having to stop selling Shuffle! and Soul Link) but also be an exclusive contract. While the contract is in force, that company will be the only one with rights to release it in whatever territory the license covers. This is because non-exclusive licenses are worthless; why spend a bunch of money translating and promoting a game when someone else can just undercut you? So typically the localization company will demand an exclusive license. However, SakuraGame may not bother. They're not a real publisher. They don't give a crap about their products, they certainly don't spend money on them, and they had games put up briefly that they didn't even have rights for. So it's hard to say.

Sorry for the late reply, my tactic to get this game finished is to leave it on at all times on my laptop, so that it is open when I open it =/. I have finished Sumika route, and well, yea I though it was a bit silly on the whole, but oh well. I actually did like Meiya less, I kind of hate the whole Anyway, going to do Ayamine + Meiya and move on to Unlimited. Might do the teacher route in extra for the lols. Might update this thread with some thoughts at times.

Does anyone want to help out with extracting the script from ゾンビのあふれた世界で俺だけが襲われな ? I did look at the tutorial section but it didn't seem to help much. It's using Noa file type for the Scripts. Anyone can give guidance on what tools are needed to extract for this game. the thread on data-extraction-thread/ was very unhelpful I am interested in translating the first one, if it all goes well translating the second and third game as well, just kinda want to make its popularity grows. I don't have a job and I use PC full time everyday for up to 10-15 hours so I had plenty of time around doing nothing atm help would be appreciated! Edit: Okay I managed to extract the script into XML so i can edit them to English, but how do i export it back to Noa file again for testing? Edit2: okay I figured out everything luckily, and it works in game

The bigger question is: would any sane company be willing to license and re-translate an already-released title? My gut response is: no. That doesn't sound more profitable than translating a new title.
