What are you playing?

EDIT: I feel like a massive idiot.  Those heartbeats are your options for picking the delusion? Shit, I basically went through the entire game hitting enter and only picking choices where it prompted me.  So much for playing the game as intended.  I wonder if because it was always a red heartbeat when I hit enter I only got the red delusions instead of the neutral ones, or if I even got them in the first place...  This completely changes it into a new story... *infinite curses*

LOL. Nah don't feel like an idiot- I'd say it's the VN's fault for not explaining those mechanics >.>. Same thing happened with Steins;Gate for me actually(same devs)- I missed out on a few of the 'character endings' my first playthrough because I was too stupid to remember to use the phone mechanics w/o being prompted.

Hahaha.  I wonder which ending I actually got, I assume it was the A ending because I didn't pick the exact choices at the end, unless its only the last one that matters.  I also didn't save before picking them x.x I just went "Hooooooooo climax! Pick pick pick (etc)!" lmao.  I guess that's how you know I really enjoyed the ending, I forgot to do the basics of a VN: save at any choice.

Still, I'm curious about the LCS/Underwear patch.  Hopefully someone will explain it to me by the time I wake up today.  I'm gonna stop furiously following this topic and check rest of forums now  :yumiko:

The way Steins;Gate handle choices to brand the story is really bad, the cellphone is a good idea but it was really poorly implemented.

Mhmmm. Here I was thinking I would get a popup going 'Send text message' but NOPE the game wanted me to mouse on over to the right to bring up the phone to do it  -_-

So I just finished my first time through Chaos;Head

That was fun.

I feel like I'm clearly missing something, I'll read it again next week maybe and see if I can't get into a different route.

Glad you enjoyed it! Save for the 'whose eyes are those eyes?' B ending and the true AA ending that just a bonus scene, there's not much else to see. That said, do get them - the B ending provides more details on New Gen, and there are bonus scenes in the second playthrough explaining some more things as well.

Unfortunately, the PC version doesn't have the routes. I've written summaries of the character routes present in the Noah version of the VN, along with most of the CGs and such, so if you're interested in the character-specific endings, feel free to check it out. They clear up al of the details that were left untouched in the PC version, and they're all pretty great. Just don't expect any happy ends. :D

I also totally missed all the triggers on my first playthrough, you aren't alone. :x At least Noah makes them super obvious.

I don't understand why 5pb. made an agreement with JAST... They basically screwed themselves out of the US market  :amane:

I'll end up learning japanese one of these days and read noah for all the character routes, and then Child which will NEVER make it to the US unless .5pb wisens up.  Its such a shame too, JAST is sitting on a pile of money and they refuse to take it.

Edit: I take it back, we may see Child, it is released on XBO which means due to the way the XBO was designed, its incredibly simpler in theory to create an emulator, so PC overlap may happen, when it does, translators to the rescue.

Actually, with the coming of Windows 10, in theory, you can use the raw Xbox One vers and port it on PC, and it would be simple, and absolutely not costy.

As I understood it, you stream the game from XBO to your PC.  It still doesn't get around the fact you need crack the security keys on the XBO where as an emu doesn't entirely have to bother with that, as you can reverse engineer the instruction set which should be incredibly similar to the x64 commonly used.

Anyway this is getting off topic, and I usually read GBATemp if I'm gonna discuss these things.

No no it's more interesting : in theory, Xbox One and PC games will be able to share the same source code, an then be run by the two systems.

If you go now on Steam, you'll see that a lot of One games (outside Multiconsole games) are port into PC, not only Xbox one, but also PS3/PS4 games.

x86 and x64 processors are not easy to emulate. If they were easy to emulate we'd have a working xbox (original) emulator by now. They are actually very hard to emulate and doing it on a x64 OS surprisingly doesn't make it any easier. This does go against a lot of peoples' common sense but it's true. With actual true emulation, it doesn't matter how many operations are the same on the emulated system and the system it's being emulated on. Here is a writeup on the difficulty of x86 emulation by an actual emulator developer. x64 emulation would be even more difficult. However, the shared architecture and instruction set does make it easier to port games. Porting an XBox One or PS4 game to PC is pretty easy.

Also you have a misunderstanding on the nature of the agreement between 5pb and JAST. In that, there isn't one, really. Noah not being translated is 100% on 5pb. JAST's agreement is with Nitro+ and 5pb owns the Science Adventures IP as well as the rights to sell Noah and they control practically the entire franchise. JAST's agreement with Nitro+ got their foot in the door with 5pb but it's clear that 5pb no longer wants to work with them on anything and any future english releases in the Science Adventures series will be done through other companies. 5pb is the reason why Steins;Gate isn't on Steam, why Noah is never going to get localized, and why Child's prospects are grim.

No, this is not how it works. There will need to be some porting necessary.

Well, it not like I'm reading this right now or finished it recently, but I really just have to share one thought with someone...

It's about the series Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o. Yes, it's basically just a lesbian nukige, so you are not supposed to expect much from them but still... they have so bad music...

Seriously, the music in that VN is so dreadfully bad I just can't express it enough. And I have seen some nukiges with descent or even good music, so being a nukige isn't really a excuse for me. Being bad is one thing, but it's so terribly misused I'm just in loss of words. In fact I was so disgusted that when I muted it and played some ost from from Hoshimemo in it's place my opinion went from 'well, it's quite a meh lesbian porn' to 'well, it's actually quite pleasant to read'.

Some can say that music isn't that important (especially in nukige) but still, it was clearly the worst I experienced to this moment :P

I'm currently in flux between a few different vns. The release of Majikoi's patch means I'll probably play that soonish but I've been going through my collection and installing a bunch of them and am trying to create an order in which to play them.
