IroSeka is not boring :pyaa:

If I recall the chapters correctly, there were 3 good chapters in the common route (2, 3 and 10 I think) because IroSekai's setting is genuinely interesting and full of potential. Alas the rest of the common route was all boring fluff and I just dropped the game at the end of it...

HaruKuru is good? dat seems like a generic story u'd find anywhere though judging from the description

Yes. But as I said this poll is really funny because either you vote according to bad descriptions or you build your image of the game based on whatever people who played the game like me can tell you about it - which is all really subjective and can't accurately represent the game's worth.

Well if you can't take the fluff then maybe...

IroHika is even more interesting and better imo.

In the end they are both still moeges.

It starts as a nukige and then after a few hours it genre-shifts hard into science-fiction.

was not expecting that lol

and yeah this poll is mostly confusing for most ppl as we never even heard of most of these games till now but what can we do, us plebs cant read Jap (maybe one day i will!)

still its interesting to see so many titles though, es since most of them seem to be pretty unique in their own right

Even the nukige part is actually foreshadowing for some quite interesting concepts of mammal nature. It's perhaps the second most intelligent visual novel I've read, after Subarashiki Hibi... but it has a few problems with how the plot is structured -- almost half of the game is pure exposition (although it's fucking awesome exposition). If you're into anime, it's a lot like Shinsekai yori.

You haven't lost much since the writer ends up writing himself into the corner with his whole mystery thing, and comes up with a very convoluted explanation for everything that doesn't even make much sense when you really think about it (not to mention 0 foreshadowing).

The whole reason Irotoridori no Hikari was released was to fix the fact that the original game unintentionally made MC a complete bastard whose sheer stupidity caused all the problems in the entire game (it's funny how obvious it is that the author was completely oblivious of the fact before shipping the game xD), but all the sequel ends up doing is shooting itself in the foot again.

Anyway, I hate that writer, I wish FAVORITE would just stick with the Hoshizora guy instead; he at least knows what he's doing.

This contest overall is pretty funny. It's like some sort of fascinating sociological experiment on the way hype and popularity are created.

This, basically. It's really fascinating how English VN scene can be so different from JP sometimes. For example, Tsuyokiss would've won the yesterday's poll by a landslide if it was done in egs or 2chan. In any case, I picked all the most well-regarded titles in Japan that have no translation yet, and I'm very interested to see how the west interprets them.

It's unlikely that anything will be able to overtake Sakura no Uta on that particular poll so my options were between Haru made, Kururu and Evolimit. I decided to vote for the game that has a less likely chance of ever getting translated. If Tokyo Babel sells well for Mangagamer it is quite possible that we could one day get Evolimit (hopefully). I went with Haru made, Kururu simply because of a single tag in the description and because I don't want irotoridori to win. The other games just sound better.

Thank you for writing this. It should set these people straight that whines about too much sexual content.

"A lot like Shinsekai yori" sounds like "highly recommended" to me haha.

You might want to put the part about Irotodori in spoiler tags, at least how the plot ends up working out in the end.

I'd vote for WA2 over Baldr Sky. :makina:

But that first vote is largely meaningless, it was just a fun thing he did that spawned the idea, it doesn't have any influence on the tournament.

I'd vote for WA2 over Baldr Sky as well. I like my drama in visual novels, even though both games I've heard are great and "masterpieces" and I'm mostly voting based off of ratings and what seems the most interesting because I can't read Japanese :makina:

Nakahiro is decent, but if you're talking about backing yourself into corners he does it a lot more. Hoshizora had that problem when they added the true heroine, basically shafting any chance of Mare having an actual route involving her (the plot of her route in the fandisk has almost nothing to do with her). His latest game, AstralAir, does this a lot too.

Also from what I've heard, they had already planned a sequal to IroSeka early on in it's development.

I'm not really sure why you'd decide to drop it at the end of the common route. The last section of it was probably the most interesting part of the whole common route.

I bet you're all happy with that. R.I.P IroSeka. Hopefully it'll get fan-tled by akerou.

Group D, probably the easiest choice of them all. C;C all the way!

Yes, im indeed happy, harukuru all the way! :D

Im pretty sure that Sakuuta is gonna be a relatively big success, it has some themes that are unorthodox while still delivering what you want from an eroge. (not first hand experience)

I voted albatross though, but again thats because im a huge (liar)RaiL-soft fanboy.

I would say that its a 50/50 with that and C;C for real doe

Doesn't change the fact that the nukige part is horrible. It's the best example of "the beginning is so bad that everything else looks like a masterpiece thereafter".
I wonder why people hype this game so much. There are so many good mystery eroge which use the porn in a well-thought manner and this is certainly not one of them. I think people who like the "genre-twist" are people who don't like nukige in the first place (and therefore don't even know what a good h-scene is) and are just glad that it is over and then sugarcoat this experience with a "it was important foreshadowing, genius!"

Haha, that may actually explain something. For me, hentai is serious business and nothing more than a dark and depraved way to psychologically manipulate and bind other people to yourself and your goals. You know, like in real life. :illya:

Hentai is FUCKING serious business, we can agree on that, I like humor in my sexual content though.

I voted SakuUta mainly because two of those VNs are getting TLed at the moment and I have a feeling that they will be finished. For Group D, Chaos;Child all the way. I was disappointed with Chaos;Head and I want to see how it got such a high rating compared to the first one.

I bet you played the translated Chaos;Head, not the Noah/Dual version.

Anyway, time for anothe update.

As expected C;C won the D, with Albatross Koukairoku a bit behind. I think the ChuableSoft CEO would be a bit sad seeing the results.

Today's voting:

For now OreTsuba is ofc ahead, and I hope it'll stay this way. Surprisingly Eve is taking second place? And somehow Harukani Aogi is the last, maybe I'm bad at predicting things, beside first place. Voted for OreTsuba, another quite easy choice.

Also, small change in Group I AkaGoei in, EXTRAVAGANZA out.
