Sayaka reacted to r0xm2n in Superhero genre suggestions.
I'm not aware of any VNs about superheroes. So I'll list some "chuuni" VNs, that have a lot of action....
* Sorcery Jokers . Magic users (like a steampunk JRPG) in an urban fantasy setting.
* Idol Magical Girl Chiru Chiru Michiru . A magical girl spinoff of the Grisaia series.
* Muv-Luv Trilogy. Goes from happy and fluffy slice of life ...... to mech combat against an alien invasion. Emotional feels and trauma galore.....
Other Chuuni VNs I havn't read, but are on my future read list....
* Dengeki Stryker
* The Shadows of Pygmalion
* Tokyo Babel
* Fatal Twelve

Sayaka reacted to NowItsAngeTime in What other content would you want to see from the visual novel community as a whole? (Not just more translations)
I've been thinking about this and there's already a decent amount of content:
We have various forums to talk about VNs like here, /r/visualnovels, vndb, 4chan, Twitter etc Similarly a few places provide weekly summaries of VN translation updates There a few places for EVN developers to hang out, recruit, or discuss in places like /r/vns Discord #devtalk and Lemma Soft We have vndb, the go to place for voting for VNs and looking up info and tags and such There are a few podcast related videos that exists for VNs like Broadcast Club and Kinniku Podcast for fan-made casts and Visual Conference for a yearly discussion with people in the industry. There are Lets Plays of VNs, albeit I don't how many of them are consistently active in content We have discord chats and subreddits for most major series and even some discords for official companies We have Visual Novel recommendation charts sorted by genres made by /r/visualnovels and 4chan (but both could use some updating based on releases in the last year or two) We have a guide of how to read Visual Novels in Japanese There are text and video reviews for most major visual novels out there (English and Japanese only) but not many that have reviewed a whole lot on one channel/location
However, I was wondering if you guys wanted more content related to this? To me, there's only so much translation companies/VN developers can do and visual novels could have more (consistent) content that only fans can make. I was wondering what you guys would personally want more of.
Don't bring up "more fan translations/translators" or "translate Visual Novel to English" because that's just a given considering what the VN community started on.

Sayaka reacted to Formlose Gestalt in Light's parent company is gone
Light just posted this link on twitter:
http://www.light.gr.jp/important/index.html
Google Translate says that Lights' parent company Greenwood Co., Ltd. is dissolving and Light is effectively gone.
The Silvario Team is apparently preparing their next game under a different company.
Right now I am a bit shell-shocked. This is really sad news. ;_;

Sayaka reacted to Plk_Lesiak in Are japanese dubs really good?
Really now? I'm sure there are nuances and aspects of it that will escape you without knowing the language and its natural variants, but you can't have a valid opinion if you don't know it? Maybe you also need to be a native speaker or even a seiyuu yourself, otherwise you don't have a full understanding of the craft? I'm pretty sure there's tons of things that come into VA work that has little to do with exact meaning of what is said. I fail to see how knowing the language would change things so fundamentally you can't have a conversation without it.

Sayaka reacted to Plk_Lesiak in What will you do if you become your waifu?
I hope I wouldn't start off like the Highschool Possession protagonist, masturbating furiously in the new body...
Spend an hour appreciating my new, cute lesbian self in the mirror and then hit on my cute girlfriend, if she's around...? That sounds about right. I'm a person that appreciates the small things in life.

Sayaka reacted to PrincessOfFinch in What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Persona 3 Fes (first time), and Catherine (first time).
Edit: I plan on getting a Vita tomorrow so I can play more Persona games and other JRPGs

Sayaka reacted to solidbatman in NieR Replicant Translation
What is the difference then? I really have never heard of the translation being butchered or Gestalt being incorrect. If you don't know Japanese how are you aware of the butchering?
You are going to find it extremely difficult to find anyone willing to work with you if you have that attitude towards people asking questions. I chose my tone, it was interrogative because I have questions that I'd like answered since I am a huge fan of Yoko Taro's work and was completely unaware as to any sort of issues surrounding Gestalt and the English release.

I'm sorry

Sayaka reacted to yelsha57 in What snacks do you like to eat while reading a VN?
I sometimes drink hot tea, but I drink mostly water when im reading. I also take a break, when I'm eating. I get easily distracted, so I like to be able to focus while I'm reading. The same goes when I'm reading books and mangas.

Sayaka reacted to PrincessOfFinch in What snacks do you like to eat while reading a VN?
I love Earl Grey! It's my favourite tea

Sayaka got a reaction from PrincessOfFinch in What snacks do you like to eat while reading a VN?
Earl grey tea! With milk.
If I'm gonna eat I usually take a break to do so.

Sayaka reacted to PrincessOfFinch in What snacks do you like to eat while reading a VN?
Just thought this would be a fun topic! Do you like to have snacks during reading? If so, what are they? Or do you prefer to take food breaks and then get back to it?

Sayaka got a reaction from MeguminBlast in A question to those who read untranslated Japanese VNs
So you review machine translations of VNs?

Sayaka reacted to kokoro in A question to those who read untranslated Japanese VNs
Why do you review untranslated games if you can't read Japanese?

Sayaka reacted to URV in How many do you play at once, if any?
Technically one at a time, but I do have the tendency to play one VN for a while, get bored, and switch to a different VN. If that were to count as playing two VNs at a time, then I would be playing somewhere between 11-24 VNs at the moment.

Sayaka reacted to Ren'ai Arrow in If you’re a fan translator, thank you.
Greetings, this is Sekai Project.
We love fan translators too! They really help to reduce our workload so that we can release our licensed visual novels in a timely manner like with Tenshin Ranman and Dracu-Riot. If you're ever thinking of going official we also treat our translators really well and pay them on time, just ask Arudoc. Don't forget to support our upcoming Kickstarter!

Sayaka reacted to Happiness+ in If you’re a fan translator, thank you.
I know it’s hard being a fan translator because for one you might get cease and desisted if the company finds out you’re translating their intellectual property, two it could be such an arduous task, third people will shit all over your translation for being “too literal”, “ bad prose” etc. I sincerely want to thank you all for helping the medium grow to this level. So, if you’re struggling right now with a translation:
Please. Don’t. Give. Up.
Because learning Japanese isn’t like picking up Spanish or French, it’s such a huge learning curve and nobody aside from the most dedicated of fans are willing to learn it just to read JVNs. I became a fan of this medium the moment I read Fate/Stay Night by the God and Goddesses of Mirror Moon. After that, I read Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. That wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. While there’re companies that will localize VNs, they have to localize only the ones they can make a profit off of or have permission to do so. Which is very limiting. There’s so many God-Tier JVNs like Mahoyo that remain untouched or the fan translation group gave up. You guys translate visual novels out of the kindness of your heart. I couldn’t be any more grateful. If I met any of you in person, in real-life, I would buy you a beer and give you hug. It’s the least I could do, because people forget how small this community really is. We’re extraordinarily niche. There’s many otaku who have no idea what a visual novel is and they might never even heard of it unless there’s an anime adaptation of said visual novel. But they wouldn’t be able to read it, unless it was translated. Such as the case with Fate/Stay Night and many other visual novels that were adapted into anime.
If you’re working on translating a visual novel, please finish it, you may not know, but there could be someone out there who will read your translation and join this amazing community. I am proof of that, and everyone else here who cannot read Japanese is proof of that. I want you all to know that. I want you all to know how important each of you are. Especially, when elitists are quick to belittle all your efforts. Keep going. Keep pressing forward.
Fan translators are the unsung heroes of the visual novel medium. You sacrifice time, effort, and many other things to put something out there without any pay. Translating has been such a thankless job, so I will extend my thanks and I hope many others will do the same. Especially since Fuwanovel is home to fan translations. There wouldn’t be a EVN renaissance without you. Hell. There wouldn’t be a fandom or a community here, since you guys literally make visual novels popular in the west.

Sayaka reacted to Zenophilious in Light announces English translation of Dies irae ~Interview with Kaziklu Bey~
They also announced that they're no longer working with the PR team they outsourced to for the original Kickstarter campaign. Apparently they're hiring steiner (one of the translators for the original VN) to as a brand manager, and there isn't going to be any kind of middleman company involved. He's also going to be the sole translator for Kaziklu Bey as well.
I dunno about anyone else, but I'm pretty hyped. It's definitely the kick in the pants I need to get around to finishing the original.

Sayaka reacted to tahu157 in Otaku collection (things other than VNs)
I've got a good handful of english manga but it's all at home in Florida and I'm up in Ohio during the school year. What do have on hand though is my Japanese music. Ask me about any of these and I'll tell you what the best songs on them are.
EDIT: I messed up the formatting. There are two more pictures inside the spoilers.

Sayaka reacted to bakauchuujin in Otaku collection (things other than VNs)
Motivated by the recent revival of the VN collection post I figured it would be interesting to see what otaku things people have. Considering that there already is a place for VN collections I guess there is no point in posting that here. So this will be things like manga, anime, figures, etc.
My japanese manga and some light novels
My english manga
My anime blu ray collection
My artbooks
My wallscrolls
My figures
