  1. I'm sure she'll win one day. (PSA: Please start a New Game instead of loading saves every time you finish a route. Little Busters! requires starting over for a bunch of extra scenes.)

  2. Grisiaia was my "first" VN too, so I can see where you're coming from. Reading VNs for the first time (especially big ones) can be daunting. I remember reading Grisaia on and off because I had exams during those periods. Also, thanks for the patch. I'll use them whenever I get Umineko.

  3. It was my first time ever, I really wanted to know how the anime ended. I was also studying to enter college etc, but yeah, I read VNs way faster now. forgot to mention, there are two patchs available (different ones) for Umineko which add voices and other PS3 assets, such as backgrounds andcharacter sprites. Since the original art is very... doujin... ish, you should probably consider them. https://github.com/07th-mod (I believe it is not considered piracy since it requires the original game to patch, but if it is, I apologize)

  4. That's a long time lol. Though I can't really say anything because it took me about the same time finish Grisaia (January to July).

    Hi there guys!

How's is going everyone? Hope you're all great. So, for the last year I've been really enjoying this VN medium unbeknown to most people in the west, even for otherwise anime fans. I've found in VN's something I've been long time missing in anime, and for me it's like a whole new world has open. That said, I'm still playing the basic recommendations you usually get. I'd swear my first VN was Narcissu, followed by the typical starter Katawa Shoujo, then I played through Saya no Uta, Yume miru kusuri, Little Busters!, Clannad, Steins;Gate, Ef, Eden* and right now I'm thoroughly enjoying myself playing Grisaia no Kajitsu (currently on Makina's route! I'm loving the little brat). I was looking for a place in which to have conversations on the topic, since I don't have friends that share this hobby and I was feeling a little lonely I must add that not only I can't read Japanese, but English is not my native language either, so I'm afraid I'll make some mistakes here and there. I hope you'll excuse me on that Anyway, enough banter is enough. Really looking forward to join you guys!

  8. Asking for anime that starts strong from the beggining kinda narrows your options, since most good ones take their time to build up the story and characters and don't pick up until past the first quarter of even half It also reduces in great measure the variety of genres since you won't find, say, a drama anime that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the get-go. So maybe my recommendation is to show her some good action anime first, like AoT, Fullmetal alchemist, Inuyasha maybe for a classic? Also a good one could be Akatsuki no Yona, since it has a really strong and badass female lead. Then I would try to convince her to watch some more slow and plot heavy ones, in order to make her appreciate the good story-telling. I would suggest steins;gate and shinsekai yori. These of course are merely generic recommendations, it would help to know her taste in other mediums like movies and literature. If I recall correctly my first animes were Death Note, Elfen Lied, Higurashi, Code Geass. So, edgy stuff, and here I am enjoying my Non non biyori slice of life whose maxim is cute girls doing cute things Bad joke of the day: show her oreimo. Sorry, I could not help it.

    Hi there guys!

Welcome to Fuwanovel and glad that you finally find a place to discuss about VN here. If you need some VNs recommendation here, you could ask us for more recommendations. Hope you had fun here. PS - For more recommendations here, I think you could try both of Dracu Riot and Noble Works if you in mood for lighther VNs after Grisaia.

Nice to see someone else reading Grisaia. That was my first VN ever actually, and it's something I'll never forget. Enjoy your stay on these cool forums.

  14. To be honest... I was gravely disappointed in how this game was handled at every stage after the Kickstarter. When I was given a chance to beta test the game, I dropped it inside the first chapter, having discovered that a whopping 85% of the lines were either outright wrong or so grammatically messed up that it was obvious someone had just put them through google translate and pasted them in. To be blunt, they could have easily had this translated by any of a number of talented translators in the community for less than they apparently paid, but instead they left it to amateurs? That was just idiotic. Also, as an answer to those who still question whether the base material was any good, the answer is, yes, it was. The protagonist was always a bit of a non-starter as a character in that type of game, but the rest of the story was good enough that I felt satisfied. If there was one thing that kept driving me crazy, besides the protagonist's unwillingness to embrace any part of his nature, it was that idiotic obsession with girls wetting themselves the writers apparently had.

  15. Don't go in expecting it to be too similar to Persona, but the friendship theme is definitely prevalent in the common route and Refrain. If you're into Key-style drama, you won't be disappointed. Once I get a few things out of the way, I plan on getting the Steam release myself. I've finished the routes in the original game, but I haven't touched any of the EX routes yet. Glad it's finally being made available in English. And now I'm almost entirely out of reasons to learn Japanese, lol.

  16. YU-NO is an old and wonderful VN. I love the art and music. It's definitely worth the read, but you'll need a walkthrough if you don't like obtuse as fuck gameplay systems. Pervy protagonist, a few "dude what in the shit" sort of h-scenes, and that obtuseness might turn you off. I read it around 2.5 years ago and loved it.

  17. Two titles I would definitely recommend to people new to anime are Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu and Boku dake ga Inai Machi. I believe they lack the various factors that might discourage newcomers from watching any more anime, and might also be appealing to people more used to western movies and TV shows. I would also throw in Kokoro Connect and Hyouka for good measure, though it's been a while and do not recall how strong they start off or maintain the pace—and do note that these two also have a fair amount of Slice of Life, which can get a bit boring for some. Another thing that might be in favour of Rakugo would be that it is a Josei anime, meaning that it is aimed at women in their late teens on into adulthood (though as a man, I have to say it is one of my favourite anime overall, so the target audience shouldn't necessarily be taken to heart). I'm not sure how young your sister is or what she's like, but I believe that she might enjoy it better due to that. Another Josei anime I would definitely recommend is Sakamichi no Apollon, though I think it has much slower pacing than Rakugo. Alternatively, for even younger women (Shoujo anime), I recall I found Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun fairly enjoyable. Additionally, you could always consider showing her some movies such as Kimi no Na wa or Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.

  19. Eclipsed

    Hihi!

Hi everybody, Eclipsed here. I recently got into the wonders of visual novels earlier this year (and have been lurking around these forums ever since) and now here I am. My first visual novel was Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete and so far my overall favorite is Grisaia no Kajitsu, <- lol, btw, what is 'he' currently playing? 3rd PW: Blog This is the last clue btw, so it's meant to be vague as fuh with you pretty much only getting to the last page by chance. Good luck! (You'll have to tell me how you got to the last page) You'll also also have to go with your gut as to the perp's reason, there's no explicitness. Though, maybe the passwords can give you a clue. Not really. (The password is meant to help you identify the culprit) Looking forward to much discussions with y'all ~~Edit 4 Nov 2017: ^IGNORE ALL OF THE ABOVE, I EDITTED THIS POST A LONG TIME AGO FOR SOME RANDOM FORUM EASTER EGG HUNT I MADE LOL

    Forest

Forest "I am Alice. Do let me hear a story." Here and there - in the space between buildings, in back alleys, perhaps even in the underground - the Forest bleeds into our world. The Forest is a forbidden place where the rules of our world do not apply. Our heroes must struggle against the Forest, without so much as the hope of assistance or understanding from the outside world. They do battle against the "riddles" the Forest imposes upon them with the aid of superhuman abilities known as "gifts." And should they know defeat in their battle against the Forest, they will face that which they fear most - expulsion from Shinjuku. ***Game Routes*** There are two types of choices in Forest. The first kind we call “date choices” because they consist of a number of leaves with dates and scene names on top of them. Clicking on one of these leaves causes you to read the corresponding scene. If there was only one leaf, then afterward you are given a brand new date choice (unless you reached an ending of some kind). If there was more than one leaf, and you didn’t choose the bottom one, then you are returned to the same date choice but without all the leaves above and including the one you previously clicked on. Thus, always click on the top leaf, and you will read all of the scripts. It’s that simple. Choosing to skip certain scripts for whatever reason has no effect on anything (the important ones are always unskippable because they’re put at the bottom). The second kind of choice is perfectly ordinary and just like you’d expect in any other visual novel. For the most part, only the major scripts (which have a roman numeral in front of their names) have any choices, so I’ll simply cover each of those files in turn and ignore the little ones in between. Warning: VII. Treasure contains a bad end triggered by major scripts III and/or V, so you may want to read that part in advance to avoid getting a nasty surprise later. I. Prologue II. An Invitation Carried on the Wind III. Shinjuku Drifters IV. Midsummer Night Pirates Main Route V. The Game Now there’s finally a point in having a real walkthrough. Save before starting this script, because I highly recommend reading through the whole thing multiple times to see all the interesting stuff (simply getting through the script is easy, but there are some very interesting scenes you’d probably never stumble across on your own). Make sure you use the double arrow at the bottom of the textbox for skipping previously read text, since the setting for stopping at unread text doesn’t seem to affect the control key. Because this script is so insanely complex, there is some more information about it after the rest of the walkthrough. Here are my recommended playthroughs for V. The Game: (if you ever get the “Akeru will bet on──” choice, just pick either one, it never matters) VI. Dawn Treader Chronicles VII. Treasure VIII. Alice in Endingland IX. Epilogue This walkthrough is from Eroge Download. Note: This game is wonderful. All thanks goes to Liar-soft for making it!!
