    Hello world

Thanks guys! I've watched UBW and Zero, but not the first Fate/Stay Night. I will watch SN soon, even if i've already done the Fate route in the VN

  2. Keep in mind that dating sims and VNs are two completely separate types of game (ie. Persona 3 and 4 are a fusion of dating sim, VN, and jrpg, for instance). In dating sims, the whole point of the game is to go out on dates with various girls and get them to fall in love with you, and this also necessitating you upping the protagonist's stats (like charm, intelligence, etc) so he can take the right actions at the right points of the game to get them to love him. Dating sims only have one purpose... romance. There is no need for characterization beyond the basic profile and q&a during date sequences. VNs technically evolved from Japanese datings sims (example: Tokimeki Memorial), but at some point, the emphasis shifted to telling a story over interactivity. Eventually, that resulted in the VNs we see today. A VN is defined by storytelling with a combination of music, art, dialogue, and narration. In reality, a 'real' VN is only a game in the sense that you have to pick which path you want to aim for. Generally speaking, a VN won't have character stats that you can increase (though some older games from around the turn of the century retain that from the popular dating sims of the 90's, which the nukige, moege, and charage genres grew out of). Most VNs are closer to manga than anime and pretty far from what most people would really call a game. Most rpgs have little or no narration, with most of the game being driven by the visual and audio, as well as the dialogue. A lot of this is because there is no need for a description of physical action, as it is mostly acted out by the characters on screen. However, this also means that those who aren't good at inserting emotion into situations using the non-narration tools of the game tend to feel stale for some VN-addicts. Anyway, my recommendations for translated: Ayakashibito Comyu Tokyo Babel Eien no Aselia Seinarukana Noble Works Grisaia

    Hello world

Merci! I've watched S;G, C;H, R;N and O;N, I've got S;G VN on Vita but i didn't played it yet. The anime by itself is a master piece, so i guess the VN will be even better, but it seems like a long run...

    Hey everyone!

Okay, so where to begin... I'm eplipswich, and I've translated Japanese stuff to English (namely two Japanese RPG Maker games Seraphic Blue and Nocturne: Rebirth). I'm still relatively new to visual novels though, and I might actually take up translating visual novels one day when I'm actually ready for it (from my experience with translation, I know just how daunting it can get). I first got interested in visual novels upon watching Let's Plays on YouTube, and I hope to read more great visual novels as I go along (a lot of catching up to do though ~ ~).

  9. MuvLuv Alternative and Stein's Gate had both three scenario writers according to VNDB. So it at least doesn't seem to be impossible.

  12. The demo for Pygmalion was released today. Grab it here, and there's some interesting insight from the editor (Ritobito) at staff blog. That's all for now, and perhaps I'll talk about this more in the future.

  16. So, in the end, even my craziest idea turned out to be not crazy enough. I just started the final door, by the way. And at this point I feel like I finally understand all the praise this VN gets. Characters are great, their interactions are even better. The overall plot and structure are great, and the mood, especially in the 6th and 7th chapters, is insane! Historical inaccuracies are, actually, noticeable sometimes, but I don't really care about them at this point, because this VN is certainly not about making the historical setting realistic as possible. Well, they even avoided directly mentioning countries' names, even though some of them are very guessable, and some others can be guessed after a bit of surfing on Wikipedia.

    Recommendations?

Okay, well, playing some untranslated VNs might help, so I'll list those too. If I were to recommend something like DC3 it'd be: Grisaia no Kajitsu (Must play for anyone.) Osananajimi no Daitouryou (More or less a guilty pleasure of my own.) Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisou (Played on PSP and I loved it because Yuki is bae.) Sumaga (Not sure how the community feels about it, but I liked it. English TL soon by TLWiki + JAST USA.) Sumaga Special (My favorite out of the two.) Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! (Liked it, but never played the second game.) Katawa Shoujo (Let the rain because I suggested a non-Japanese VN.) Angel Beats! (Kaguya Approved!) Kurano-kunichi no Futago Jijou (Surprisingly good for a nukige IMO. Also, it's Flutterz Approved!) Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~ (Obligatory Sca-JI recommendation, courtesy of Ayana. Ayana Approved! Warning: Futanari) Tsui no Sora (Alternate version of SubaHibi. I played this out of curiosity and liked it. Ayana Approval Pending! Warning: Futanari) Rewrite (It's meh, but it IS in English for PC. PSP and PS Vita, you're kinda fucked, frankly put.) Planetarian ~Chiisana Hoshi no Yume~ (Widely accepted as a must-play here on Fuwa.) Furifure (aka Free Friends. Give it a try, you might like the twist.) Deputopia (A Valkyria work that ISN'T entirely focused on assaulting women. It's a meh nukige, but it'll get you into chubby women.) Motto! Debutopia (A follow up game to 'Debutopia', but with more heroines. Warning: Chubby Fetishism) Your Diary + (I played the PSP version, but the PC version has H-scenes. Pseudo-moeblob artstyle?) School Days (Just don't lose your head. Enough said.) Summer Days (Alternate universe prequel to 'School Days', but better than it, IMO.) Shiny Days ('Summer Days' reboot with an added heroine, basically.) Island Days (A meh follow up to 'School Days', that is if you actually survive. Only available on 3DS, but worth the pickup if cheap. VN+Tower Defense essentially.) Strip Battle Days 2 (No idea why it's called 2 when there isn't a first one. Fan-service galore. Alternate universe.) Cross Days (Stalled on this one, but it's an interactive movie, if you want to venture into that realm. Also, yes, there is h-scenes, even on the PSP version.) Cross+Channel (Thought it was meh, but it suits your criteria.) Maikuro ~Ore ga Watashi de Boku ga Atashi de~ (Body swap VN, but it's pretty nice.) X-Change Alternative 2 ~Kimi no Hitomi ni Utsuru no Kimi~ (^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^) That's all I have to recommend. Sorry, but I don't have a good recollection of the year that the games were made. Some are old, but some are new. Additional Recommendations: Shuffle! (8/10. Beings from other dimensions. Must-play.) Really? Really! (Sequel to 'Shuffle!' No idea why it's Japanese name is 'リアリ? リアリ!', I personally think it should just be 'ほんとに?ほんとに!' I'm not sure how much of the community would agree with my recommendations, but these are just my personal tastes. Feel free to take my two cents with a grain of .

  19. There's also a more positive review about the title on VNDB in the comments section. It's a bit of a contrast to Clephas' more critical one. Overall, I think it's worth reading both for people who are still unsure, to get to know both sides of the medal. It's also worth noting that Pygmalion was just slighly lower rated than Tokyo Babel both on VNDB and EGS. So it's probably not a kamige but still a decent title for people who like the theme and the story premise.
