Considering that there aren't really any even remotely "ugly" heroines in VNs, personality is always the primary factor, tbh.

I'm sure you can find ugly ones somewhere but that's besides the point, I agree that when looking at all the different characters I'll prioritize personality and then affinity for their looks.

Honestly, that comes down to the character. In many cases I love the character because she has a beautiful bond with the protagonist/ the VN creates the sufficient emotional investment to genuinely make me feel like I care about that heroine's well-being, so I guess personality matters more to me.

And then she's killed in a stupid way. :holo:

Again I am forced to find myself agreeing with Ari, here. About the "ugliest" heroine I can even think of is Hanako in Katawa Shoujo, and she's not really ugly, just fire-scarred, making her tragic and even more attractive.

So yeah. Personality pretty much dictates it.

I have a bunch of really specific tastes and most of my favorite heroines have a few of them. Really long yellow hair is nice (not pale blonde, gold), and I like strict personality types too (class reps and student council presidents tend to be favorites every time). Reverse traps are great because they're slender but never curvy, and a lot of the time (but not all) have a taller, thinner figure which is nice too. And most importantly, they have to be interesting and likable. :sachi:

Well, you can say that I have a savior complex, since usually I'll choose the route that prevent the most tragedies/ help the one I think needing it most.

First impression wise, appearance ranks the most, since I'm extremely chilled and general jerkiness never really bothers me.

Well the first thing I do, when setting up my waifu of a selected work, is to identify the "main" heroine and toss her off my waifu shelf. I'm not entirely sure why (it might be racisim), but there is just something that always pisses me off about the main heroine. Be it her watered down generic personality or the way she immediately becomes a main character. Next I identify who has the strongest sense of individuality, the gals that can get shit done by themselves and back their words with action, or at the very least not care what the world thinks of them.

I tend to hold off on selection until after I've finished the show/game/vn that she's in.  Let's me see how they start off personality wise, and how much they change.  Looks are never really a factor for me since only one of the three has traits that I'm attracted to.  But even then, she seriously lacks in the height department.
