  1. Long answer It was part of the Grisaia phantom trigger kickstarter, one of the pledge goals was that if they reached $180000 they would make an english edition of the grisaia complete box that they released in japan to commemorate 300 thousand sales for the grisaia series. From what I can see of the different pledges it seems like it wasn't available as a pledge, but only through backerkit at first. Then they also sold some through pre-order on Jlist, which is where i bought mine. Recently they have also sold some copies on Jlist as well (I would assume they are copies from people who asked for a refund, though this is only specualtion), though they very recently sold out meaning that if you want it you are probably out of luck. Short answer it is not available any longer. Also something I would like to add, if you wonder about a physical release you can check out the list bellow, I try to do my best to make sure it says what is still available or not as well as where they are available.
  2. After quite a long wait I have finally have the Grisaia complete box. This is the front of the box The back of the box The sides of the box The back of the things that houses the games as well as the soundtracks. The games and soundtrack The artbook (it is quite large) A random sample from the artbook (sorry for blurry picture, not really that steady when holding a camera). Extra items Size comparison with a regular DVD case and a normal japanese physical VN. As for the quality of this I would say it is amazing. It looks wonderfull and it has quite a lot of weight to it and just feel like an overall really high quality product. If I were going to nitpick some things I guess one would be that I think it would be nice if they had the small extra stories on disc, since they already had so many things on disc they should have just added one more (not a huge complaint though since they are only really short stories, <2 hours each according to vndb). Another thing is that the cover thing for The cleaning of grisaia light novel doesn't really seem to fitt perfectly (seems larger than it should be compared to the book). Though again these are just small nitpicks, overall I am really really satisfied with the quality of the box and glad I bought it even though it was really expensive.
  3. Is it just me or have they not really been that good at promoting it? Doesn't seem to have really managed to get people hyped which I assumed would happen since it is a VN by Favorite and it seems many people like their VNs.
  4. Not really used it yet, though I have so many nukige to read atm that it just seem pointless to go back to reread a H-scene, but I might use it in the future for some of my favorite H-scenes. Will use it for Imopara 2 though, but that is only to take screenshots of CGs for the animated scenes, since the CG gallery only has the animated version of the CG regardless of whether you downloaded the no animation patch or not. Well I suppose I also use it sometimes when I am looking for screenshots to use for the vndb page of the VN when I feel like there is a lacking amount of screenshots or the screenshots are only in japanese and there is an english version, though in this case I just skip and randomly pick a place to take the screenshot from that seems okay.
  5. I would recomend VNs based on series that have already had an anime before the VN. Some examples would be Nisekoi: Yomeiri!?, New Game! The Challenge Stage! and Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?? Wonderful Party!. They generally use rather simple language, many of them have voice acting for all of the characters including the main character and if you are familiar with and like the anime/manga/LN they came from it is most likely going to be easier to understand what is going on as well as feel motivated to continue. A downside is of course that these are generally only on PS4 and PS vita which I would assume doesn't work with text hookers or at least complicates it and you of course need the console.
  6. Btw almost all VNs on the PS vita are just eroge with sex scenes cut out. I would recommend just sticking to PC unless you have anything specific you want which is only found on PS vita. If what you want is portability I think the switch is a better option, unless you plan to go to japan and buy lots of used VNs for the Vita.
  7. Well Sony entertainment in America is currently effecting titles on the PS4 in Japan by censoring them. This has also affected the Senran Kagura series to the point where it seems they will go away from having lots of nudety and basically abandon the main strenght of their games.
  8. Motivated by the recent revival of the VN collection post I figured it would be interesting to see what otaku things people have. Considering that there already is a place for VN collections I guess there is no point in posting that here. So this will be things like manga, anime, figures, etc. My japanese manga and some light novels My english manga My anime blu ray collection My artbooks My wallscrolls My figures
  9. The kickstarter for Irotoridori no Sekai now has 18 days left with 37.500/85.000, hopefully they manage to get it funded for an english release. Unfortunatly the funding needed to get the sequal and the fandisc are quite high and very unlikely to be met, though they did mention that they will look into other ways to get them funded than through this campaign if the goals aren't meet. According to J-list my Grisaia complete box has now been shipped. There have also been a bunch of people saying that they have goten it as well as some pictures, so it is pretty safe to assume that they have actually managed to ship out Grisaia complete box this time, hopefully I get mine the next week. Hopefully this also means that there won't be major delays on their other physicals from kickstarter. Mangagamer has now announced a physical release of Magical Marriage Lunatics!!, since I have enjoyed all Moonstone titles I have read so far I am really looking forward to it. The physical copy can be bought at Mangagamer. There is also a wallscroll voting campaign where people can vote for one of 7 designs which determines which wallscroll they will produce for their wallscroll bundle.
  10. My physical visual novels for PC, some are english and some are japanese. My console VNs Hybrid VN that aren't counted as VNs on vndb There are also some that I am hopefully going to get in not too long. Those are the Newrin collector's edition, Grisaia complete box the english 18+ version, Momoiro Closet, Island deluxe edition and Flowers Les quatre saisons in japanese for PS4 (not sure what I will do with the english edition of the first one, dislike having something incomplete).
  11. The kickstarter for Irotoridori is planned to start Febuary 4. I think it will be interesting to see how it goes especially since the sequal and fandisc is going to be stretch goals. Personally I probably won't back it though since I already own the physical japanese version. Frontwing has just released a new update with new plans for when things will ship. While this is generally a good thing I doubt they will manage to follow this plan due to the sheer amount of delays we have faced so far. Well if by some miracle they actually manage to follow their plan I just need to wait a bit more for my Grisaia complete box. From Denpasoft there are news of the physical copies of Love's sweet garnish being shipped. Jast USA is currently having a sale on physical copies which last from now until Febuary 11. Link is https://www.jlist.com/c/j-list-visual-novel-sale
  12. I already own the japanese physical version so probably won't back it, but will be interesting to see how the kickstarter turns out.
  13. Some VNs on steam have both english and japanese text options. Two examples are the Nekopara series and recent titles by Frontwing, there should be a decent amount of other titles with both language options. Also for VNs on console you can import it through sites like Amiami or playasia, though in those cases you are limited to all ages titles. Amiami also have eroge, but haven't tried to buy that from them so not sure if you can import it from there.
  14. If you plan on getting one of the Neptunia games start with Rebirth 1, also it can be smart to wait for a sale. There are often massive sales on them like 80% of.
  15. The Neptunia series, not quite a VN but rather a hybrid between game and VN. Does have a decent amount of VN style storytelling and lots of 4th wallbreaks.
  16. Digitally I buy from steam, usually during a really good sale. Physical copies I buy from either MG, Jlist, Rightstufanime, Denpasoft or kickstarter, depending on where it is available.
  17. Didn't say there weren't backlash about KS, just said that that I hadn't seen them mention that they gave up on kickstarter due to the backlash. All I really want to know is whether or not they stated that they gave up on the idea of kickstarters or not.
  18. I know they wanted to do kickstarter for physical edition, just never saw anything about them giving up on the kickstarter idea due to backlash.
  19. J.C. Staff totally screwed up the drawings and the animation so it just looks horrible. Planned to watch it myself but after 1 episode I just don't think it will be any enjoyable to watch it, will just read the light novels sometime in the future instead.
  20. Still doesn't justify them not managing to figure out that such clear censorship was censorship. SP didn't check the VN they worked on enough to figure out obvious censorship and as such never mentioned it and claimed to Fakku that it was completely uncensored. While Lose is behind the decision the way SP handled it is just horrible and they deserve the backlash for it. The problem is not SP censoring content, but rather the complete lack of effort put into making sure that their VNs are released the way the consumer wants and not communicating about the problems with their release, making people figure it out after they have bought it.
  21. Not sure, but not really looking too good for them. Lately new companies like Nekonyan and Sol Press has added more competition. They continue screwing up their kickstarter backers by endlessly delaying physical releases, they have had problems with things like the Maitetsu censorship as well as the quality of some of their translations so their rep is just going down even further. Then there is of course the icebox that they have put some major titles in and how they lost Senren * Banka to Nekonyan. While I don't know their financial situation all things considered it is probably a disaster.
  22. Monmusu is in my opinion an even worse Sayori VN released in 2018, but ye Tropical Liquor is really bad.
  23. VNs based on things that already had an anime like New Game! The Challenge Stage!, Nisekoi: Yomeiri!?, Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?? Wonderful Party! and Himouto! Umaru-chan Himouto! Ikusei Keikaku generally tend to be pretty easy since they often feature full voice acting including the MC and usually don't have too complex language. These types of VNs are generally found for ps vita and PS4 and it would probably make it easier for you if you found something based on an anime or manga you like. If you want to be able to switch between english and japanese due to not being confortable enough with japanese to try only japanese there are some on PC which has both japanese and english language setting. Some examples are Nekopara, Japanese school life and most of Frontwing's titles, well the newer ones at least.
  24. Maitetsu, I Walk Among Zombies Vol. 1, The Ditzy Demons Are In Love With Me, Re;Lord 1 The witch of Hertfort and stuffed animals, Fatal Twelve, Mhakna Gramura and Fairy Bell, A Light in the Dark, Neko Para Extra, Neko-nin exHeart 2, Shining Song Starnova, Love's Sweet Garnish, Lynne, AIdol, Girls in Glasses, CyberRebeat, Last Stanza, Hard Work, Creature Romances and Innocent Forest: The Bird of Light are titles published by SP last year. While this looks like a lot, most of them were either short titles (not that much to translate) or english original titles that were just published under SP (they probably weren't really involved in those but just put their name on it and got some profit for using their name). The only ones I can see that are medium length or longer and not originally english are Maitetsu, Fatal Twelve and The Ditzy Demons Are In Love With Me. The Ditzy Demons Are In Love With Me actually got a release date early 2018, but it got pushed back to the end of the year, from what I seem to remember it was because it still lacked the Chinese translation and Sayori wanted to release it with all the language options. This would mean that they kind of screwed up by giving it a release date before really checking if it actually could be released within that time. Then there is Maitetsu which was a huge blunder with the censorship issues. Fatal Twelve I haven't really heard that much about so I guess they probably did a decent job with it.
