  1. Short titles generally works best because they are cheap, adding the production cost and shipping makes them cost a lot compared to how much people think the VN is worth. If a VN cost $15 digitally and goes on sale for $10 from time to time, paying $25 or $30 for a physical seems a bit much. With a larger title the extra costs are not as much compared to the original price and what you get for the copy. As for the larger ones they have used kickstarter, I failed to say the physicals they did without kickstarters, should have been clearer my bad. The ones I am refering to are Hard Work and Love's Sweet Garnish, both short titles that pretty much lacked any real hype and neither seems to have a lot of votes on vndb. Instead they could have made physicals for something like Koikuma or Wagamama high spec.
  2. Not sure but some guesses would be. 1. Due to the amount of projects and the quick growth of the company the people responsible for management are unable to handle all the projects leading to poor communication with the freelancers who work on the titles. This would explain the problems they have had with some of their larger titles the last few years. 2. The amount of new companies have made it harder to get professional quality translators since so many are already working on titles for other companies. 3. Sekai Project pretty much have no idea what they are doing. One instance that baffles me for instance is that they made physical copies for short titles with no hype behind them rather than making physicals for longer more popular titles. Considering shipping prices and production prices it just seems really stupid to aim for physicals for short titles unless they sell really well.
  3. For that to happen it probably requires another outrage from anti censorship people, though so far the titles that have been banned from steam have not had enough of a following to cause the same kind of outrage Nekopara and Huniepop did. As long as they target things that are niche I doubt there will be a large enough backlash for them to stop banning random VNs.
  4. I remember Nekonyan saying that it wasn't that big of a deal with titles that aren't that big like Hello, goodbye, but that something big not getting through to steam will be really bad since big titles cost a lot to license, pretty sure if Aokana doesn't get released on steam it will screw them over a lot. Smaller titles should be sustainable on publishers own platform to my understanding, but the popular ones simply won't be profitable if they don't release them on steam as well.
  5. Have now started doing my large yearly update, will probably take a bit of time.
  6. Thanks everyone Not sure how you ended up with 19th birthday, was born in 1995.
  7. My guess would be that Yuzusoft found Sekai to be incompetent and started looking for other options while Sekai continued to fail their handeling of their licenses.
  8. I myself hope that they will do physicals for all their releases.
  9. Sadly not many people buy physical VNs which makes situations like this happen. Seems like the only currently viable options are either crowd funding or selling physicals for only the most popular titles.
  10. She is stupid, selfish and generally just annoying. Think she is made to be hated to justify her route where the MC act more villanous towards her which I assume pleases those that got euphoria for the more darker sexual themes. The problem being that if you take her route first, her whining and selfishness seems justified due to the situation and you just end up feeling bad for her and hate how the main character acts. Also in my opinion she just has a really weak route compared to the others. What I would recommend is Natsuki, Rika, Rinne, Nemu and Kanae. This way you get the best buildup for the story while you also avoid going through Rika's route first.
  11. If you don't like dark nukige you probably won't enjoy the first part of each route, but once you get into the 2nd half the routes it tend to focus much more on the story rather than sex, just wanted to warn you in case you get a bad first impression and decide to drop it. Personally I love the story in euphoria while the ero was okay in general with a few things mixed in that I didn't really like. Personally I would recommend starting with the teacher route, her route is pretty good while not going too far into the main story, kind of more making you question what is going on as buildup for other routes. Rika's route also works in building the mystery the same way, but she is shit and the main character act like shit during her route, so starting with this route might make you think the whole VN is shit.
  12. Actually I think there is a chance for it to get through. Steam seems to have no actual policy in effect, as such it just depends on the mood of the ones tasked to look through it. Atm whether VNs get on steam seems to just be based on random chance not really that much about the actual content.
  13. Probably, I also think the same way. Seems like people not familiar with anime generally think of all characters that don't have clear mature features as children. My best bet is that the ones banning VNs from steam just wasn't motivated to spend their time pissing the VN community of at the time and that they now just felt like doing it.
  14. To add to this, art also usually exagerates, at least when it doesn't try to be realistic. Drawing a character to look youger than she is generally means exagerating it more than the intended age she would look like in real life, at least I think that is the case. Also the anime artstyle generally lacks facial details that are important clues to someones age. Then there are things like different artstyles with some having character designs that look younger than they are supposed to be and this also applies both to sexual titles and non sexual titles.
  15. Frontwing will soon give more info about shipping of physical copies for their kickstarters. It will probably include another final date for shipment which they most likely will fail to deviler on. Nekonyansoft has recently started talking about potentially kickstarting their physical releases. While many, myself included are a bit annoyed at VN kickstarters in general due to how FW and SP has handled things, I can see that it might be rather risky to do physical releases without one. So while it might not be the prefered way it is understandable in my opinion and whether it turns out good or bad will depend on whether or not Nekonyansoft will be able to deliver their physicals within a reasonable timeframe. Jlist is currently selling Jast USA holiday box set which is a bundle of 3 VNs from Jast USA for $60.00. As for the value of these titles they mention that it has a value of at least $100.00 so it seems like a rather decent sale. The downside however is that you don't know which VNs you are going to get which could result in getting VNs you already own or that you don't care about. Personally I am not really a fan of these types of mystery boxes as I like to only collect VNs that I think seems like something I will like. Here are a few titles that may be close to getting sold out or have a limited time left for pre-order. There is a limited amount of physical copies for Clannad: Side Stories at sekaiproject, it seems to be leftovers from the original kickstarter. On PS vita the physical edition of Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternate is being sold over at ricedigital and I am pretty sure that it is a limited run. Backerkits that are still open Alpha's Adventures, Sakura Sakura Seven Days and Venus Blood Frontier
  16. Seems like a rather boring season apart from some nice sequals. Last 2 seasons have been pretty lackluster in my opinion, maybe I was just spoiled by the good winter 2018 and spring 2018 season.
  17. Because the SP license for Grisaia and the Michiru spin-offs ran out Frontwing has gotten the rights back and they are now sold under Frontwing on steam. Because of this I decided to move them down to Frontwing rather than have them at SP on the list.
  18. With November over this can now be considered complete, if there is anything that happened with physical visual novels that I missed please tell me.
  19. For me it depends on the VN. For instance Eroge sex and games makes sexy games and Princess Evangile works best as multi ending, for both of them I feel like it is important that each heroine's route manages to stand on its own as a true possibility rather than one route being much more important than the others. However some like euphoria or Date A Live Rinne Utopia works best as VNs with a true route. In their cases they manage to use the previous routes to build up the story towards the true end in a satisfying way. So for me it is not so much what I prefere as it is what I think fits the VN in question.
  20. Awesome way to respond to critisism. Attacking people in the fanbase you aim at in a community dedicated to people in this fanbase is a really good way to promote yourselves as a company. Hopefully you are just a troll, because it would be quite sad if your reply is actually from someone representing a translation company. PS what do you plan to use as the case to sue him, hurt feelings?
  21. The problem with this is that sales numbers are not really available, well there are some leaks that has happened before but this data will not really include the VNs released after the leak and it also only counts achievements which not all VNs have.
  22. Nope not sure, it might have been done before. Didn't know about it though. Edit: If you mean (see link under) my idea would be quite different. That mainly focuses on the different types if VNs, while I would like to focus on differences between companies as well as individual titles. Also I would list the individual amount of reviews for each title rather than making an overall sales trend.
