  1. Currently I am doing this list as well as monthly physical visual novel news and reviews of VNs that I own physical copies of where I also show the physical edition as well as pictures covering my entire physical VN collection. I wonder if there is any other content focusing on physical VNs I could do that would be interesting and raise awareness for physical copies so if anyone has any suggestions please tell me. With physical sales so low that MG only does physicals for VNs that sell quite well and Nekonyansoft only doing physicals for their largest titles while their other titles are undecided I hope some of the content I make will make it so that the physical sales are better so that more VNs also release in physical format and not only digital format, well that is at least my aim though I doubt it makes much of a difference.
  2. Btw the steam version has some CGs not in the 18+ version, though the scenes with them are probably like 2 or 3 min combined if you don't count where they just put a CG over where it was sprites before. Just wanted to warn you before you give it away.
  3. Considering the size of the VN community as well as the amount of those interested in physicals I would say there is pretty much no chance for a community based on making their own physicals to exist.
  4. Seems like there is quite a clear pattern of most people mainly only going for digital, well it is what I expected, hopefully there will still be enough people buying physicals in the future to make the publishers still produce physical copies.
  5. On MG shipping to Bergen in Norway is $8.00, hardly the price of a VN, also it is possible to reduce the cost on shipping slightly by ordering more than 1 item at a time. Rightstufanime has a rather expensive shipping with one VN for $13.49 at least that was the shipping for Saya no Uta. On J-list i had to pay $10.72 for shipping of normal edition of Eiyu*Senki and $12.60 for limited edition of Starless. Denpasoft has shipping of $14.00 for normal edition of VNs.
  6. Well I just find those kinds of laws to be stupid and as such I don't care about them. For instance it is not enforced with things like game of thrones which contains rape due to the pure stupidity of banning game of thrones even though it breaks the rule. Also having looked at the norwegian obscenity laws it seems like those laws are so broad that many ecchi manga/anime breaks it as well as lots of literary works, this is regarding their law against minors in porn which pretty much include chacters under 18 years or who look younger in sexually revealing situations (don't have to have sex) which both apply to drawings and written text. Unless they can define laws that aren't broken openly on a regular basis due to how broad they are I will not care for laws that aren't related to actual humans getting harmed. If they want me to follow a law the least they should do is to make it specific enough that there aren't multiple mainstream titles that breaks it.
  7. Ye screwed up, not used to doing polls. Btw I have imported things from Clock Up, eroge sex... and euphoria.
  8. I am a huge fan of having things physically rather than only having it digitally and as such I am a huge fan of being able to buy visual novels physically. One thing that I am wondering about is how many people are like me and care for physical copies vs those who only buy digitally or mainly buy digitally. I know the poll isn't going to give a good representation of the visual novel community in general, but figured I might as well make one as I think seeing some numbers would be interesting. It would also be nice to hear arguments people have for why they prefere physical copies or why they prefere digital copies.
  9. I am open to most things, well apart from BL or NTR though what I generally read the most of is moege, charage and nukige.
  10. To get my physical copy of Gin'iro, Haruka to work I have to sett everything to japanese even including the timezone. Maybe you still have something you didn't put on japanese and it is preventing you?
  11. SakuraGame cares about money and nothing else, the quality of what they release isn't a factor. If you want more info about them here: NSFW link (BTW they are worse than most people think) btw they are also using their games for raffles.
  12. Could wish everyone knew how bad of a company SakuraGame are so people didn't buy their games. With how it is currently going it is only a matter of time before they manage to get a really big title.
  13. SakuraGame has now decided to ruin another Cabbit VN, considering that they had already gotten 2 licenses from Cabbit I guess it is somewhat expected. With Kimi e Okuru, Sora no Hana being licensed they only have Love Love Life Ojou-sama 7nin to Love Love Harem Seikatsu left before they have taken all the licenses from Cabbit and they move on to destroying VNs from some other developer. Guess they will probably move on to other titles under Skyfish (Cabbit is a subsidiary under Skyfish btw).
  14. Well many or all of the games/VNs on Paradise Project are the same as ones that were previously under SakuraGame, not sure about the details of everything though, just found someone talking about it on reddit as well as the name having changed for the vndb page. Figured they just changed name, but maybe they split the company or something not 100% sure what is going on.
  15. Just wanted to warn people that SakuraGame has moved a lot of their games under a new name called Paradise Project. For anyone not familiar with SakuraGame they are a chinese VN translation company. While they mainly aim at the chinese market they also do "translations" for english as well, these translations are done using machine translations and are pretty much unreadable, as such they are hated by many in the VN community since them getting a license means that the VN is dead in regard to getting an official english release. My main point here is don't buy any VNs from the company called Paradise Project, they are SakuraGame and they are horrible, other than their horrible translations there are also other things that I think should make it so steam could ban them, but steam probably don't care since they get lots of chinese sales.
  16. My guess would be that it is mainly because VNs are more niche and as such have a higher concentration of hardcore otaku than anime, manga and light novels. That being said I do think that there are translations that really deserve ridicule whether it is MTL or something like Libra, but I do feel like some people might be overly critical towards decent translations wanting every translation to be amazing and done by someone who has both perfect fluency in japanese and english as well as the writing capabilities of professional writers.
  17. Frontwing have just made an update on their Grisaia phantom trigger kickstarter where they said that they have started shipping and that due to the amount of items it will take about 1 month until everything is shipped out. So it seems they are finally able to deliver on their physical items after such a long time. Also their kickstarter for Island is now done and it managed to raise $69,301 with a goal of $50,000. Loca-Love kickstarter is now also done and managed to raise $33,251 with a goal of $30,000. Backerkit is now open and it costs $44. The kickstarter for Venus Blood Frontier ended up with ¥23,606,140 with a goal of ¥16,665,000. While the kickstarter is over it is stil possible to pledge for certain rewards through paypal and they plan to open a backerkit that non backers can use which will act as a pre-order store. While the VN doesn't really interest me I am quite glad that it ended succesfully since they seem to have done a lot of things well regarding their kickstarter such as focusing more on translation quality than they initially planned which raised the amount they needed by a lot. Jlist has now opened up pre-order for the physical copy of Sweet Pool. Not really something I am interested in, but I guess people who are into BL are pretty excited considering its high rating. The latest update from the Koropokkur in love kickstarter says that they have shipped out the physical editions to the backers now. I find it quite funny how quickly Mangagamer managed to get physicals out compared to other kickstarters that often use a year or two extra (sometimes even longer). A Clockwork Ley-Line is getting its engine changed, while this seems to mean that it will be easier to work with it also means that it is going to take a real long time until they produce any physical copies for any of the VNs. The kickstarter for Seven days is now done and it managed to raise $34,323 with a goal of $20,000. Fatal Twelve physical copies are being shipped to those who pledged for the reward on kickstarter. Here are a few titles that may be close to getting sold out or have a limited time left for pre-order. Eroge sex and games makes sexy games is on back order on Mangagamer, but is available from Jlist and Rightstufanime, though I am not sure how many they have in stock or whether there will be reprints. Kara no Shoujo is on back order on Mangagamer, but is available from Jlist and Rightstufanime, though I am not sure how many they have in stock or whether there will be reprints. Nekopara volume 2 and volume 3 are said to be limited on Denpasoft, not sure how much stock they have left but will put it here on the list anyways since it can sell out at any time. Physicals for Love's Sweet Garnish seems to be sold out. Physicals for Hard Work might be sold out once pre-order period ends. Based on Love's... they may have a system where they only print as many copies as people who pre-order them, not sure though. There is also a limited amount of physical copies for Clannad: Side Stories at sekaiproject, it seems to be leftovers from the original kickstarter. On PS vita the physical edition of Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternate is being sold over at ricedigital and I am pretty sure that it is a limited run. As for backerkits that are still open there are Alpha's Adventures, Loca-Love My Cute Roommate and Sakura Sakura
  18. This time they will probably mix it up a bit, first they release in the west with sex scenes intact then later they release it in japan with more content added and more sex scenes. So we will get the sex scenes but we still won't get the entire VN. Btw this is a joke, guess I have to put this in here in case someone actually believes that I was serious.
  19. Considering the length of it and that it has a multi route system where it shouldn't I have now decided not to pick it up. I originally thought that it was about 100 hours long, but 200 or 300 hours seems a bit too long for me since I have other things to read in japanese.
  20. Ye I don't really think things like euphoria or starless should end up on a school project.
  21. Taking that into consideration I definitely have to think a bit more before I decide to buy it. Thanks for the info.
  22. Ye I already know about the voices thing, which is one of the things pushing me towards getting the PS4 edition instead, generally I would want to support companies like MG by buying it in english, but it just seems like the japanese version is superior. Also there is the fact that MG have yet to confirm a physical edition so not even sure that they are going to release it physically in the future. Pretty much what I want to figure out is if there is any sizeable advantages with the New PC version over the console version that would make me consider not buying it. If not I will likely buy the PS4 edition.
  23. Currently Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Hou is up for pre order for PS4 and I wonder if that is an edition of Higurashi that fans of Higurashi recommend. Other than it being a non eroge horror mystery that has gore in it I don't really know anything about it but due to its high rating and popularity I figure it is worth picking up. So since I have decided that I plan to get it some point in time I wonder what edition is recommended? Should I go for the PS4 version which to my knowledge is the same as the switch version or the same as the PS3 version with some extras introduced on the switch or should I go for the PC version? Btw I know it is in japanese and I know enough japanese that reading it probably won't be too difficult for me.
  24. Not sure though based on the tweet it seems likely, of course they would have to come to an agreement though based on the tweet Lune wanted someone to translate it and MG was interested in translating it.
