Hi, I'd be willing to help assuming you're still looking. My Japanese is alright, and I've worked on making subtitles for some variety shows in the past. Let me know.

BookwormOtaku reacted to Clephas in Are the any good lore sites for the Taimanin series?
This is a translation of a general description of the setting from the Japanese wikipedia.
"This series is one where, due to human depravity, the nonaggression pacts between demonkind and humankind have collapsed.  This results in a near-future Japan where joint human/demon corporations and criminal organizations bring chaos to the nation.  Taimanin are supposed to be individuals who can stand up to the demonic.'
TBH, from what I've been told, the setting is altered to the convenience of each new game, book, or other media that comes out, so you shouldn't expect any kind of continuous setting beyond the basic one above.

It took me years to figure out why I found romance in movies and anime unfulfilling no matter how well fleshed out the courtship, confession, and couple evolution was until I encountered H scenes in VNs. It's the ultimate consummation of a real human relationship and pretending it doesn't exist when it is literally the reason we exist as a species and a story ending without you seeing it will be low level depressing and frustrating. Once I've gotten to love a heroine, I only feel satisfied if I get to H her in the story, and then I can put that story and heroine to bed (heh) and feel fully satisfied. Most western audiences wouldn't understand though, even though most of us will end up fucking someone in our lives, but that's more a function of the long-standing censorship and shame our culture has associated with sex.

There are a lot of light VNs that I am interested in:
    - Paradise Lost and Kajiri Kamui Kagura are connected to Dies irae
    - Soushuu Senshinkan Gakuen Hachimyoujin (Senshinkan for short) has already been asked for on twitter. It has also a sequel in Soushuu Senshinkan Gakuen Bansenjin.
    - Silverio Vendetta and it's sequel Silverio Trinity
    - Gunjou no Sora o Koete (also has a really good reputation)
    - Sora no Baroque (light's newest work)
There is also a bunch of other chuunige that I would love seeing in Vermilion -Bind of Blood-, Zero Infinity -Devil of Maxwell- and Electro Arms -Realize Digital Dimension-.

So light has titles for years as far as I am concerned and I am sure I missed some interesting titles in this list too. Let's just hope that they find their venture into the west worthwhile and start working on more  translations.

An update worth mentioning for anyone who is still hoping for this to come out. I got an editor who has more free time than me.
    Everyone, welcome @Krisaia!
Now that there's fresh blood in the team, progress will speed up a bit.
Next update - probably when we are done completely at least with Hikari's H-scenes.

Yeah maybe, but the way I see it, that's unimportant. We are getting a DUBBED localization of not a random VNs, but an absolute behemoth like Umineko. This is history right here. And the English voices sound really good to top!
If fuwanovel's motto is "make visual novels popular in the west", this should be a day to celebrate for any Fuwa member

Good VNs can change you exactly as much as the other types of media. They can give you new perspectives of your own life, or show you some new ideas you'd never come up with on your own. At the same time, you should never expect too much from them, just like you shouldn't expect too much from pretty much any fictional story. They can serve as a catalyst for a change in you, but in the end, it's always the real-life experience that does the actual change.
If you want your life to become less boring, go out and find another, more active hobby, something that appeals to you personally. It would be the best if it involves talking to the other people. No matter how engaged you may become in books/movies/VNs, the things described there are are experienced by the characters, not by you. They aren't useless though. Fiction generally makes you a lot more open-minded, and reading a nice book isn't really the worst way to spend your free time when you just want to relax.

I believe the right vn can make a person change his outlook on certain stuff and appreciate the smaller things in life. I'm sure vn's such as clannad have had positive effects on people.
What it will not do is improve your personality or turn you in to a chick magnet who makes girls fall in love with you just by existing.
Im gonna take a wild guess that this is a matter of love. Or i guess love lost. Things happen and you move on in time. Learn from what has happened and improve yourself from experience. Not just love, but in all things.

Dunno about the manga but I have read the light novel, where Veldora (the dragon) does show up again though after a looong time. His interaction then is damn good too. The point where he comes out is
Gonna watch Fairy Tail and Index 3 from the sequels, and plan to try out Zombieland saga and Kyuuketsu-san for now.

Took a leap of faith and started Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet. Not too bad, honestly, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. When it comes to romantic anime, I'm more of a fan of the wholesome type of shows, and not the "are we really in love? Let's wait the entire show to see it not get resolved!" style. While in this case the love is technically apparent, its setting assures the viewer most scenes will end up as misunderstanding-style comedy and I'm not sure whether I trust the anime to advance its supposed main plot (I'm such a lil fuck when it comes to mistrusting anime, really).
    Hmmmm slight spoiler, so~

I wrote about the VBF gameplay trial and the environment that surrounds it here.
I found that the gameplay was fun, engaging and complex but it could benefit from an interface upgrade and improved tutorial. Translation is decent, with a couple glaring issues that are a cause for concern. Overall, the demo is certainly polished in comparison with the first one, but it’s still rough around the edges.
I also talk about localization mistakes, but the bigger issue is with the original script itself.
Would appreciate any feedback or criticism, but either way, it'd be nice to revive this discussion thread. Honestly, it's quite vexing how low of a presence Ninetail have, barely even engaging with the community. It's also surprising how the stretch goals have yet to be revealed, 20 or so days in the Kickstarter. I believe that the initial goal will be reached, but there's a lot of wasted potential. Like, just imagine if the mikandi guy was running the PR campaign.

(I know about the issue with a few of the images not loading. I have spent hours trying to fix it but it's probably the plugin that is at fault. It seems to work completely fine with Google Chrome, but try clearing your cache.)

Holy s***, when in a bad mood, trust in anime... I've checked all of the shows I was interested in minus Bloom Into You and while I don't think there are many actually GOOD shows in the fall lineup, I was amused to no end.
First, Zombieland Saga is just pure, unadulterated absurdity, nearly at Pop Epic Team levels of dumb. But so far, it's outlandish enough to be funny and if it can keep up a similar pace, it'll be a joy to watch. The opening scene was even something of a small masterpiece - got me completely by surprise and set out the tone perfectly. :3
Second, Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san is simply adorable - probably the first shoujo-ai after Yuru Yuri to give me a similar feeling. Its extremely cute and relies on silly character humour, but makes it all highly amusing and relaxing to watch. It won't be for everyone, but I was smiling like a complete moron the whole way through and can't wait to see more.
Third, the Reincarnated as a Slime isekai is surprisingly well-written and fun and for once does not seem to shoehorn pointless fanservice, which is so rare in the more lighthearted shows of this kind... It seems like it's going to be a lot of fun, even for those that are generally fed up with this kind of anime.
Fourth, Xuan Yuan Sword Luminary is not that horrible... Just clunky and uninspired. Quite similar to other Chinese anime I've seen and I think those get a bit more shit than they deserve. Going to watch it further out of curiosity.
In general, this is going to be a fun season, even if no one will remember about any of these shows a year from now. I approve. ^^

It looks like Ms. vampire who lives in my neighbourhood/Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san is also a yuri. It's a 4-koma adaptation, so I'd expect more random jokes than any kind of romance, but it definitely goes on my to-watch list (will probably give it a try tomorrow and share my impressions). Along with the Zombieland Saga because that one just looks too weird to not give it a try.
EDIT: Oh and it seems that Xuan Yuan Sword Luminary will be this season's epic trainwreck, so this goes on my Crunchyroll quoue as well. That's decent enough lineup, I guess? Won't have too few things to watch after all. :3

BookwormOtaku reacted to Happiness+ in This toxic attitude regarding translations needs to end.
Context: a guy I met on Fuwa’s discord was told to end the TL for “his own good” and the translation team did not like him for his one too many jokes. After talking about it with the guy, I realized something. In the anime, manga, Japanese video game worlds, there’s nobody arguing over the purity of a translation, even weirder this doesn’t happen in the Light Novel world either. Light Novels are 100% text, but when translations come, nobody gets into arguments about whose translation is better or whatever. It’s the weirdest thing. Why in the VN community do have such a purity spiral for translation? None of the other mediums of Japanese entertainment have this issue even though they all need to be translated. Even when there’s an official release of a VN, all the fan translaters loose their damn minds. Like... why?

I doubt our brothers from the land of the rising sun have such fervor when they translate EVNs.

I think this snobby attitude over translation needs to stop because we’re not going to ever make a “perfect” translation because translation itself is a art not a science.

Personally, look I thought about this before: I am going to bite the bullet and say:
I rather read a bad translation than to never get a translation at all.
With a bad translation, people can see how it’s bad and someone could make it better.
I understand that people really care about doing their best, but there’s so many kamiges out there that will remain untranslated.
The VN fandom is growing, but we’re nowhere near anime levels of mainstream thought, and I think this stupid purity spiral regarding visual novel translations is one of the main reasons why.

There is a possibility that you exceeded the 30 turn time limit, and if you are unable to defeat Tilca and capture Edda (By reducing the enemy's national power to 0) within 30 turns, it will end automatically.
Otherwise, if you are playing the all-ages version, the Fall of Edda scenario should activate, ending the demo after Loki captures Tilca. The 18+ version ends after Loki "Interrogates" Tilca. After reading your post, I believe you may have hit the turn limit. Capturing the capital city does not = capturing the country unless the enemy's national power is at 0 (You can confirm this using the Info button).
If you experience bugs or crashes, please do inform us and we will do our best to fix it. As of right now, we have a patch available that we tweeted about which will fix a memory leak bug.
Thank you for playing the demo and we're glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Finished playing the demo and if it's anything to go by then this game looks to be a fun play. About my only complaint is the demo would crash from time to time and it has a pretty random ending; I assumed it would end when I captured the capital city but it didn't and instead just ended after I captured that lake territory by it without even a closing scene.
