So, as of this post, the TLC is finally 100% complete. Yes, finally haha. So sorry for the very long delay, but with my new job and all as mentioned before and some lack of motivation, I haven't had much time for TLC. But now, with the TLC complete, we can finally almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.
So what does this mean? Of course, it's still not quite done yet because we have 1 more stage to go through: the QC. This one, I won't be able to tell the estimated time this will be done, but hopefully it can be completed by this year so we can finally release this patch to the public.
Once again, thank you all for those who are still sticking around. We're almost there!

So, I was dead for like a month and a half, but The Magical Revolution brought me back to life. I was waiting so long for a yuri show that would be genuinely fun and to the point, and holy crap, Anis really does not beat around the bush, she goes straight for the goal. I really hope for like two seasons of this and the romance blooming properly, it will be my dream anime at that point.
Also, what a weird, isekai-filled season. Not sure how much of it I'll end up watching, instead of catching up on my backlog for example, but I'll definitely stick with Reborn to Master the Blade, seems like a really fun, lighthearted show that will benefit a lot from the adaptation into anime.
And then, despite the meh CGI, I was quite impressed with the first two episodes of Nier: Automata. I feel like the authors are fully aware that they won't be able to fully present the complexities of the original, so they focus on showing its emotional impact and tone. The episode two in particular wasn't afraid to give a lot of time to a semi-random side story about the machines, from what I heard taken from some spin-off media and not the game itself, but which was extremely artistic and wonderfully established the moral complexities and cruel nature of the setting. Not sure how easily someone completely unfamiliar with the original would follow (I didn't play it, but I read a lot about its story), but it seems like something even random viewers should appreciate for the creativity and vibes.

At first glance, this upcoming season is filled with continuations of the series that I haven't watched and dumb-looking isekais. I almost lost hope for this season, but further down the list there are actually quite a few series that may turn out quite good. And it is also quite crazy that this upcoming season will have not one but three (!) gender-benders, including the gold that is Oniichan wa Oshimai. Though from time to time this gold seems suspiciously pee-colored.
The reincarnated master of blade anime, on the other hand, may turn out to be pretty dumb. I liked the LN, and it had a pretty interesting world and good fight scenes, but nothing more than that.
The one series I am excited the most about is The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady. From the little I've seen from the LN, it seemed extremely good, with likable characters who had quite a lot of room for development, and it's definitely a good choice for the third villainess anime. It's also yuri where the MC is extremely open about liking girls. 😇 I'll probably try reading the novels first though, so if I get to this anime this season, it will most likely be by the end of it.
Other than that... There's Trails anime, which I won't watch since I'm still at Sky the 3rd. Sugar Apple Fairy Tale seems interesting, and I believe the original light novel is quite well-regarded, but untranslated. There's also another anime based on the novel by the author of Average Abilities. I don't know if I watch this one. I haven't read the novel, and I had some extremely mixed opinions about this author. Average Abilities adaptation was also kind of trash, so...

    Greetings, VN enthusiasts!
In my quest for knowledge and wisdom, I made 2 surveys in the past to study the taste and experience of BL gamers. This time, I am seeking input from the VN community for their past and present experience with piracy, their opinion on Things, their involvement in the fandom and the games they play.
These surveys are anonymous and I don't keep any personal info about you. I don't know your email address, and I don't know which websites you visit unless you feel like telling me.

Finished Hello Lady and started Tsui no Sora Remake.

    ハロー・レディ!
Saku route - The main mysteries are finally answered. But the answers are a trainwreck. The story is lacking a core, like the author is not sure what he wants to tell.
There's some Gundam, Doraemon, Index, and Oreimo reference added in too.
Overall, it's a fun game. But rather lacking in the story and writing.

    終ノ空 remake
Chapter 1: Yukito Minakami - We get introduced to our protagonist, Minakami Yukito, and his childhood friend Wakatsuki Kotomi. There are a lot of recurring characters like a teacher that looks good for a bike model, Otonashi Ayana, Takashima Zakuro etc.
When they get to school, they hear rumours of
. Then, we get Yukito reading Kant's Critique of Pure Reason before he gets interrupted by Otonashi-san quoting Tractacus' last line "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent." This is pretty much Scaji giving his own lecture on philosophy and criticizing Kant for talking metaphysical nonsense.
This entire work is pretty much a lecture from Scaji-sensei. After that, he introduced a bunch of Nietzsche concepts, although he doesn't quote directly. People can't be satisfied with a boring, peaceful life when they have no goal. They need stimulation even if it leads to fear and anxiety. Mamiya's famous speech is slightly different from Subahibi in that it's filled with Nietzsche concepts about how social orders are lies filled to control us like livestock compared to speech about the concept of death in Subahibi. How the concept of good and evil were created to create social caste so that people can feel superior to others by being "good." Morals are decided by the concept of self-interest, but we like to pretend that they are some universal truth that we discovered.
Yukito wonders about the meaninglessness of life. Death comes to all equally, so what meaning is there in living when we are all fated to die? There are people who accept their fate and live quietly until they die, but there are also others who struggle against their fate and try to find meaning in their life. To do that, they have to break out of the norms of society. Then, he argues that just being alive is a blessing by itself even if we are cursed to die.
Chapter 2: Kotomi Wakatsuki - Nothing new here except we get to see things from a different perspective.
    Chapter 3: Zakuro Takashima -
This work just reminded me of how much of a genius Scaji is.

Dreamysyu reacted to FBates in Fate/stay night - A New Translation
    Hi folks!
My name is FBates, and I am the author of the Fate/stay night re-translation project that some of you may have already heard about. I've been quietly working on this project since the fall of 2019, and have already put out a preview release of the Fate route at Christmas 2021, and now a preview build of everything up through the end of Unlimited Blade Works that I've released today. My editor Hobusu and I both work full-time jobs, so progress isn't always fast, but I'm very proud of the quality of the work that we've put together.

Anyway, I could go on and on about it, but what's really important are a few pieces of information, and then the download links. 😅
First off, this patch is designed explicitly for use with the most recent version of the Fate/stay night Ultimate Edition (1.1.2) found over at Beast's Lair. It may work with other versions of the Ultimate Edition, or even other versions of the game, but I can't guarantee that it will, and it will almost certainly be missing textual features that this patch makes use of.
Secondly, included in the download is what we've taken to calling the Official Fate Font (actually a modified version of Noto Serif JP) which we strongly recommend that you make use of. Hobusu has put a lot of work into cleaning up the formatting and making sure that it both looks good and reflects the character of the original JP script, but because of the way the engine handles fonts and text sizing we can't guarantee that you'll have the optimal experience using any other font.
Thirdly, and I want to stress this, the version available here is intended for preview purposes and is not final, Any text of this size, especially when it's being worked on by a small team, is going to have typos and lexical gaffes, and some portions of the text could still change fairly substantially as we continue to edit them in preparation for a complete release of the VN. So I ask that you be understanding if and when you run across those sorts of textual goofs, and would be grateful if you'd drop me a line either here or on Discord if you find one so I can clean it up.

Anyway, as a final word I just want to say a sincere thank you to anyone who does decide to pick this up and read it. This is very much a labour of love for me, and I hope that you'll get as much enjoyment out of reading it as I've had from writing it. On that note, I'll wish you happy reading, and leave you some links!

First a couple of short Medium posts I wrote explaining my goals and my philosophy with regard to this project (for anyone who is interested):

Editorial decision-making; or, translation is tricky (and also interpretative).

And finally, without further ado, the patch itself:

Dreamysyu reacted to Clephas in When the good ending isn't the longest/last ending
It's not an unusual concept.  To be blunt, Sunao's ending in Semiramis no Tenbin is basically a bad ending that happens if you miss the flag for Ami's ending.  As for bad endings that are longer than the good endings... less common but also something that happens regularly in utsuge in particular.  Sora no Baroque comes to mind, for instance.
However, you have to ask yourself... do you really want a bad ending to be the one thing people remember when it is all over?  Because the longest and most detailed endings are the ones people remember the most.  In good VNs, the true ending generally is never shorter than the other endings and is often longer many times over for this precise reason.  It is also why - if a heroine exists for the true ending - picking a poor quality heroine for the true ending usually damns the game to the kusoge pile.

Recently I did a cover of "Yume no Tsubasa" (a song written by Yuki Kajiura, originally from "Tsubasa Chronicle" anime). I love this song, and wanted to do it for a long time, but it absolutely needs a female singer. And some time ago Yoko Matsuura (japanese local singer-songwriter from Otsu, whom I befriended thanks to very unexpected chain of events) invited me to do a collaboration video - so I suggested doing cover of this song together, and here's the result:
I played the keyboards and did all the programming and editing, while Yoko played piano - and we're both singing of course

Finished 月姫 -A piece of blue glass moon-

Not a fan of the Nintendo Switch but after playing Pokemon Scarlet I figured it was a good time to finally pick this up. Never read the original but this one was pretty poggers. Nasu’s writing was compelling and immersive without the need for overly flowery prose or deep philosophical inquiry. There was never a dull moment and the screenplay of the game itself was very polished and beautiful as expected from an end of 2021 release. The backgrounds, sprites, and scene transitions are all woven so seamlessly that the visuals look as if they were taken from a movie. Most importantly I found myself being able to actually empathize with all of the main characters and exploring the world out of curiosity. It’s been a while since I had this much fun reading.
Also the voiced version of 魔法使いの夜 comes out in less than 2 days. Hands up hands up. What a time to be alive

Something to keep in mind with replaying a VN is that 'normal' VNs really aren't suitable for being played repeatedly.  In my experience, there are a few golden standards (though not absolute ones) that enhance the replayability of a VN.
    1) Depth of the Setting- This is one of the two primary reasons why I'm most likely to replay a VN.  If a setting is deep enough, there is very little chance you will catch everything on a first playthrough, so games with deep settings often take two or three replays to start to feel stale.
    2) Emotionality/Catharsis- The degree to which a VN stimulates the emotions through presentation and story can often make a VN that is otherwise not all that special replayable.  For this reason, nakige are some of the most commonly replayed VNs from my conversations over the years with other VN players.  If it makes you cry, it is probably worth trying again, lol.
    3) Presentation (dramatic, memorable)- In some cases, there is just something about the way the story is presented that makes replaying a VN easy.
    4) Uniqueness- Though this became rarer and rarer as time went on, this quality is often enough to make me go back to a VN.  Semiramis no Tenbin and Re:Birth Colony both fall into this type, for different reasons.

    Summer Pockets Reflection Blue
...I'll be honest, I'm like, totally a grandpa now and so if I red Summer Pockets like 10 years ago back when I red the other Key SoL funstuff like of Rewrite / Little Busters maybe I would've liked Summer Pockets a bit more and included it in my SoL Hall of Fame, but nowadays it's just not really my cup of tea anymore lol
To be fair I didn't make it to the true route/ending to get to the good ol' KEY magic bits but mannn I ran out of steam hardcore after going through the four main heroines and not being interested in the Reflection Blue heroines. I'll check it out sometime later when I'm in the mood for SoL

^...Because I wanna do dirty things to you, Shiroha- I mean uhhh, for safety reasons!
But yeah, gorgeous visuals and whatnot, but just not in the mood for slice of life atm

Okay so, Meteor World Actor. I know, wtf is that title right?

^It's a police/crime VN set in a futuristic fictional world that has superpowers and fantasy races like Elves and Segitts. I know, what a weird mix right?

The protagonist is (first name) Ruka Hiryu, a detective from the outcast sideliner "13th Division" of the National Police Agency (NPA). He's an antihero type with a bad attitude, slacker work ethic, and pisspoor financials but is competent enough to hold his own when it matters (sometimes) (every now and then) (maybe)

^That's Claris, Ruka's Elven kouhai rookie partner who just joined NPA but got shoved into the troublemaker 13th Division 'cuz she's an elf. Racial discrimination at its finest. Ruka likes to belittle and bully her but as you can see she can be pretty feisty herself.
The story plays episodic, which each major case-of-the-week focusing on certain characters/heroines while giving more insight into Ruka's character and his longterm motivations.
The cast is diverse and fantastic. Most of the time people are just bagging on Ruka for being a worthless good for nothing detective but there is a good sense of unspoken camaraderie between the cast

^Ruka only lies 125% of the time, nbd

It unfortunately ends in a cliffhanger, because eff you that's why, but don't worry, you can read the sequel Badge and Dagger, but that'll also end in a cliffhanger right when they get to the good bits with getting ready to hunt for the big baddie, because again eff you. Except this time the sequel sequel is not out yet sadface
