Edit: now I'm curious, is it incorrectly to say "lets be beast together"? does it mean the same?

That would be incorrect. Also, this post has multiple grammatical errors as well :P. I'm not intending to be rude here, but to be honest, this is why I don't know if I can trust you saying the game has bad grammar. If nothing else, JAST has always been solid with their grammar.

Not gonna lie, the only truly objectionable thing I've found in the translation from what you've posted so far was the Benjamins thing, and only because they directly referenced the 10,000 yen note and the actual face on it right after. I'm not actually convinced yet that the translation is bad.

leaving aside grammatical errors (which clearly i'm bad with and can't judge)  I still think the translation is bad because of the many many untranslated sentences and how they use the names incorrectly, to call someone by their name when they actually are saying their surname or vice-versa is a big thing in Japan and it feels bad. I'm not even complainig about not using honorifics, also to change the names like Toudou to Todo, Takamichi to taka. Using expressions like "for pete's sake" or "poker face" I can go on.
You can say they "westernized" the translation I said is just bad, actually I don't mind grammatical errors in vns I was being an ass :P I never complain about that.

This was my first and main complain, never mentioned the grammar until recently.

"After reading both versions I can say why there are so many scrip problems. The new version is a tweaked version of the original script which didnt have any voice acting but the thing is they left all the dialogs from the original so the voices most of the time don't match with the text. Also the new script added many new lines and explanations, for example that sentence about Fukuzawa but they didnt bother to check if the new lines matched with the older ones and thus you have a complete mess.
Now what I did notice that they change from the old script to the new one are "Bro" for "oniichan" or names, they often use "he", "she" "my sister" in the older one and in the new one they use their names (incorrectly 90% of the time) other than that I haven't seen any other big differences "

The reasons you list don't really sound like a bad translation to me either. Using English expressions/idioms should only be a plus - the work is rewritten in English and as such it should feel natural and comprehensible in that language. If they were to, on the other hand, translate the Japanese sayings word by word, that would feel much more like a mistake to me. The change of names usually follows the same pattern, it should be natural in the translated language, not in the original. As such, using first names instead of surnames makes sense. This is quite an iffy subject since you have to miss with the original script, and I'm honestly not a fan of it either, but it's one of the language differences you just have to deal with. Even if leaving honorifics and original names in makes things feel better, it definitely doesn't do better for the language. Reducing 'ou' to 'o' is a weird localisation transcription habit and I wouldn't call it correct myself either, though.

I haven't read either the original or the translation myself, so I can't really judge, but it doesn't really sound that bad from what you say. If you don't like the (arguably unavoidable) westernising, there's not much else for you to do but to read the Japanese version. :pyaa:

I'm already playing the untranslated version :P for being a Romeo's novel is not that hard to read maybe because is his first novel or maybe because I already read it in english and I know most of the plot and so I don't get stuck with it, still my reading speed is really bad :(

Finally done with Grisaia, I took way more time with that VN than I should have.

Oh well, I promised myself to devote myself to reading untranslated stuff for the time being, for the sake of my JP studies.

So im back with Himawari no Kyoukai to Nagai Natsuyasumi and gonna play maggot baits eventually, maybe even switching between those for the time being.

That also means that im gonna stay with those for a long long time, oh well, thats the sacrifices you make for porn games amirite? :sachi:

And I'm currently working on getting all teh feelz in Grisaia. Why do I read things that make me bawl like an unmanly man?

because it feels good obviously : 3.

dont deny it.

I dont know though, grisaia didnt rek me as much as I had hoped tbh. And actually I would like to say that

"Grisaia no Kajitsu is a 7/10 game. It has great moments, yes, but overall it isn't all that impressive. IMHO it does not deserve very high a place in the hallmark of VN's."

I've only made my way through one of females thus far, working on the second. While it isn't quite as loaded on teh feelz thus far, it still does catch me, in maybe a way it's supposed to.

Basically, the protagonist of the game never really seems to change. Yuugi is Yuugi. It appears that only the girls change. I suppose that seems kind of standard for visual novels, but it's bothersome that Yuugi, thus far, never really changes. For a guy whose world is supposed to turn over because he falls in love, they don't do a very good job of making that happen.

Well.

Depends on who you went through actually.

Its only Makina and Amanes route that gives actual insight in Yuujis backstory, thus for many, making their routes the best in the game for most people. I feel like yumikos route actually made him chance the most.

I agree! The best route is Amane's, because..

Kazuki. She's a beast.

I actually like that Yuuji doesn't change, and he's not a dumb ass protag.

Well, that would be Amane's route that I've finished. To be honest, it didn't do that much for me. The feels are there, but it feels hollow as well.

I'm finding the whole "Alive" thing a bit unbelievable. By 2005 search efforts are a lot better, and with the amount of wealthy people's kids on the bus who could back it, I can't see a thorough effort not yielding results. They'd have people on the ground and air, and they'd start at their last known location and check everywhere. And the whole "hierarchy" dynamic that forced them to all sit around like dumbasses? Really? I'd think after a few days Yuugi's sister would have had enough and would have made a break for it either on her own or with Amane. No, this route was pretty unsatisfying.

You're so fucking right, it also dragged on for waaay waaay to long. But its still one of the best routes in the game imo (which is why I feel like grisaia is actually pretty mediocre compaired to how much hype it gets)

Nah, Kazuki is just such a damn genius that she had it all planned out in ways you can't even comprehend, obviously. :illya:

Yuuji being a much bigger mess than most of the heroines is what makes him so charming to me as well. Still, the inconsistent structure of the trilogy hurts it a lot, and I'd agree that Grisaia is above average at best. Wouldn't go as far as calling it just downright mediocre, as if anything you can't deny the great prose at the very least, and some nice ideas here and there. Leave the mediocre to moege. :pyaa:

I think the core problem here lies in how we perceive the word "mediocre", but then again, I might need to swallow my words because 2 routes actually make me sniffle a bit (everything that can get my Lacrimal glands working is basically above average, all ratings above that depends on how much)

back to reading liberation maiden, made a little progress & still no idea what to expect from it in the end.
so far the vast majority of characters are abit weird?!? and the mc unexpectedly non going full genocide-mode yet, which is pretty suprising when considering how he gets/got treated by some...

edit. finished ilkenie1 earlier this morning, been a veeeery bumpy ride without any meanful plot, as told before, but...couldnt believe it somehow... better should have :/
now onto part2, which comes across way more refined & should please my needs XD

am i just losing it or is this guy screwed up in the head,

"i need another member for the astronomy club therefore I'm gonna invite all my friends at night in a restricted area so we can invite this ghost that has a giant ass scythe and has stabbed me with it which may actually be my hallucination into our club"

full proof plan i see nothing that can go wrong here, also lesbian overdose is gonna give me diabetes till the end of this vn

I'm really curios about Setsuna I think there's gonna be something really interesting and surprising about her, cross my fingers and hope this secret route is with her

Also just said fk it and

Killed Shugo, because who cares at that point ;-;

It's a shame, because I did all the detectiveness correct up to that point, the perp's pretty obvious even with the attractive distractor, but I didn't have that damned torn-off scrap evidence so I was locked to that ending ._.

Thanks for posting here, Eclipsed - you're making me interested in the Cartagra + KnS series, even though I suspect it may be too dark for me. But I may check it out when I finish what I'm on now.

Meanwhile, Clannad is wonderful, even though the remastered soundtrack sounds a little weird to me. Honestly, they could've improved any track but "That's Like the Wind" and I'm sure I would've been delighted, but it's hard to get used to a slightly different version of a song that I already like enough to make it my alarm sound for months on end.
