After a lot of suffering long time I've finished Aku's route in Reminiscence. She was my most hated character ever since I started the VN - and well, she was written to be that way, too - but when the turning point came, I've grown to kind of like her, surprisingly enough. The route itself was much more interesting than Nozomi's or Rin's, especially the first half, which finally focused on the protagonist's past, which kept me reading all this time. Finally seeing it unfolded was pretty satisfying, and it made me see the protagonist in a much better light (though that doesn't change the fact is perverted side is still incredibly lame). All good things like to end abruptly in Reminiscence, though, and this route was no exception. The second half deteriorated into the awkward nukige just like the previous two routes before it, and I just wanted it to end quickly. Luckily, Reminiscence's endings are abrupt - and while they're mostly unsatisfying, this one at least felt kind of conclusive. That is, before the scenes after the credits came, I really dislike magic endings.

All in all, the route was more enjoyable than the previous two and most of the common route, and even the second half was kept at least relatively readable thanks to the unexpected

yandere

traits, but it pushes the VN no higher than 7/10. Well, I still have Kizuna's and Accela's routes left; yet I am afraid the VN doesn't have any promising parts left like the past it teased ever since the very beginning.

My personal view: I don't really like yaoi, but its not like I'm a big yuri or otome fan either.

I think most people still prefer hetero romance/h-scenes. But I think when a choice has to be made, its true most girls (and just people in general) would prefer yuri over yaoi. No offense but Yaoi just feels much more forced and "unreal?" in most VNs, because normally they don't focus that much on the males when it comes to romance/h-scenes. Also gay people don't always have the kind of "softness" they let characters in yaoi VNs have, I always feel like they really try too hard to make them look gay.

That's a good point. I've recently seen a yuri-related poll on the Czech comunity page, and I was surprised by how many girls participated (that is, until it got hijacked by the yaoi-fangirls, which is nothing unusual there). I was kind of going with the theory that if guys like yuri, but not yaoi, it'd be the opposite for girls, but I suppose I was just stereotyping horribly.

What's with the abruptly route endings in Akatsuki no Goei? I finished Tae's and Tsuki's and they end in the best part >.<

Yeah, that is a common theme both in Akatsuki no Goei and Reminiscence. Though I have to say I didn't mind it in the first Akatsuki no Goei much (I liked Tsuki's particularly, since it ends on a high note, before it has a chance to fall into a boring h-scene collection like Reminiscence likes to do), plus there is a fandisc just for that, if that is your thing - and it is filled with equally entertaining slice-of-life hijinks like the common route. The second Akatsuki no Goei VN was more problematic in my opinion - it hypes you up much more during the common route than the first game did (a more serious tone), and then the endings don't quite deliver. Well, a plus point is that about every girl in that story you can think of is a heroine in one way or the other, but it is still kind of disappointing.

Impressive.  A Western gameplay VN influenced by real Westerners. Looks rich. The art could use some better detail though. Resembles a shockwave game.

I think its just because of the trailer, the art of this game is just amazing, the story looks quite intersting also, it kinda remembers the style of story telling of fire emblem goddess of dawn where each chapter is played in the perspective of a different group of people, another thing that is very good is the soundtrack.

Finished Symphonic Rain, that was great, now for Ayakashibito

I keep hearing about Symphonic Rain. Not sure if I want to hit that. I forgot why I won't play it. I think it is either the size of the file (too small means short game). I don't know. :/ I have my eyes fixed on Hoshizora no Memoria and finishing up Grisaia no Kajitsu (currently on the maid's arc and then the loli arc, finished the other 3).

Damn it, I really wanted more Tsuki romance. Guess I'll wait until I play the fan disk :c (I didn't like Tae at all)

Tsuki best girl. <3

But yeah, go for the fandisc after you finish the VN. It has some funny after-stories, but most importantly, it has a story detailing the entirety of Kaito's past. It gets referred to quite a bit in the last VN - and while you can definitely skip it, I think it adds quite some depth to the overall story, so I would recommend reading it. :)

Replying to hella shit since I've been hella busy these past two days.

I haven't read it yet, but I don't really have a problem with yaoi.  I actually prefer it to yuri  xD  I guess I'm just weird like that.

That's interesting lol. I don't prefer one over the other, Yuri and Yaoi is equal in my eyes.

Hm, I don't know about the US, but the Czech otaku community is full of fujoshi from my experience. Maybe it's just because of them being so vocal, but I think you would have a hard time finding a girl in the community that doesn't like yaoi. Reading eroge is where it gets problematic though, yeah; especially since people that don't even know English aren't that uncommon here.

I know tonnnnnnnns of girls in the US that are into yaoi and in the KPOP fandom tons of fans "ship" members together.

So, y'know. Its not uncommon here either, imo. Maybe so in rural/less populated towns but im in a medium/big town so there is tonnns of girls that like yaoi here.

While then you have most guys that are like "ew".

You're right, I should probably narrow that down a little more. I can't remember where I saw it (Bing isn't pulling anything up for me either), but I did come across a survey stating that most women in the US are not into gay men having sex. In fact, there's even more women that prefer lesbian sex over gay men sex. And even gay men usually won't watch gay men porn. As for real life observations, I've only known two girls in high school that were into yaoi. One of them tricked me into thinking there was a girl in this one manga (my first experience with Japanese gender confusion). ._.

However, I did also notice that MG has recently licensed more yaoi works. It's possible that the market for VNs is picking up for English-speaking fujoshi.

I don't mind yaoi or yuri but when it comes to porn, lesbian is just so much better.

I mean, for some reason I can watch two animated guys fucking but when it comes to watching actual men fucking or reading erotic stores/novels about gay men, I just can't do it.

I actually watch lesbian porn more than hetero porn.

Sorry if this is TMI. LOL

Hoshizora no Memoria is good. Read that a while back.Mare is adorable, Grisaia is alright and Makina really isn't a loli shes a year younger than the Protagonist.

If you compare her physically to Sachi, though, she's pretty underdeveloped for her age.  While she's not technically a loli, I think she's supposed to look and act like she'd fit into that category.  Lets call her a pseudo-loli.

Yeah I also think Tsuki is the best girl *hugs him*

I downloaded the Trinity Edition so I just have to finish one and go to the next.

And what about Reminiscence? It's supposedly a sequel for AnG but for what I read it can easily be seen as a complety different game.

Oh, good move on the Trinity edition, makes things much easier, and it also has a very handy ending checklist. And it's widescreen, yay~

Reminiscence... well, I went into it hoping for a AkaGoei sequel too, but it's nothing like that. You get some cameos, but that's about it - the whole story is rather different in tone, and the protagonist is kind of obnoxious unless he goes into his "serious mode" and acts his part as the 'genius' of the story, but even then the things he does aren't that impressive. He's just a regular MC compared to Kaito, he's just really good at planning stuff when he actually stops being a pervert. But the biggest problem the VN has, in my opinion, is that it lacks the likeable cast AkaGoei had. Even if AkaGoei mostly went with just slice-of-life stuff (save for the second VN), the scenes were all incredibly entertaining since I found the characters really likeable. There was something about the humour that just got me, and having Kaito as the MC allowed them to turn even the would-be rival characters into one of the funniest comic relief characters I've ever seen. Reminiscence, unfortunately, lacks this sort of entertainment, since the comic relief role is mostly forced on the protagonist - and I found that more irritating than funny.

Wah, it was been months since i didn't played Visual Novels, thanks to real life and exams (Yes, i hav my first diploma now).

So, trapped between video games with my new PC, i decided to restart my career as a Visual Novel reader, and in order to rewind the time, i'll try to get through all the endings of Steins;Gate, and i aim for the 100%
