Alcorin reacted to Templarseeker in Fuwanovel Confessions
Hahahah! A miracle took place this morning! After filing a complain to the our College Dean regarding my predicament of being unable to enroll this semester and some backings from my father with support of my classmates. The bitch chairwoman was pressured and received quite a scolding from the higher ups then finally gave her approval for my enrollment. So in the end it all went well and I got enrolled today... I guess despite how crazy the world is, there's still some semblance of hope for me... However I won't easily forgive the atrocities that damn bitch has caused me, both draining me, physically and mentally.
I'll put my plans of cursing/hexing her on hold for now... Until I graduate and then she can disappear... I'm already enjoying the suffering she had as I witness how pissed off she was when she handed me the paper works required to be enrollment... hehehe
Thank you so much for the suggestion! I'll look into it once the storm has settle in...
Real Life issues is taking a toll on me.... So much wonderful PC games and Visual Novels/Hentai/Eroge/Anime to watch/play/read... So little time.... How I desire to achieve financial freedom so that I won't have to be worried regarding mundane issues...

Alcorin reacted to KAKASAMAAAAAAAA in Bee Man's Comprehensive Review
LINK TO THE VN: https://vndb.org/v13547
I'd recommend Bee man. The reason being is that once in a lifetime you'll come across a visual novel that truly captures the history and cultural distinctions of the modern world the way a person can subjectively perceive it through the guided field of a bee's perspective. I have to admit, I had my doubts when I first learned of the VN. After all, Bee man? Will this visual novel even be good? How ignorant was I to even have these thoughts. Little did I know I was about to indulge in what may have been the best 2 hours and 21 minutes of my life. The VN started out strong. The opening scenes enticed the audience with a captivating enigma. I was so taken aback from the next-generation CGs that I almost didn't even realize the underlying symbolism in the ongoing scenes. It wasn't until my twenty sixth playthrough of the VN where I finally got my bearings together and was able to focus on the gripping and labyrinthine stratagem. The underlying themes of the determination of the bees depicted in the visual novel even though according to all laws of aviation they can't possibly lift their bodies above the ground was enlightening to say the least. Just when I thought the VN could not get any better, the increasing conflict before the climax began. I could not believe the complexity of the story as the main bee protagonist, Waspo, struggled with the everyday endeavors for a quintessential bee such as the consistent up-hill altercation of picking the choice whether to pollinate the flower or not to do so. There I was, gripping to my chair as the conflict of the VN began. I was so enticed by it that I felt as if I was both practically and relatively a part of the bees. This is a special kind of high that not even the strongest of drugs can give you. Was I part of the hive? Am I inside the hive right now? This VN will leave you questioning existential nihilism and the objective skepticism of our perceived valuation of anthropological existence. At this point in the VN, I was fully intoxicated by the avant-garde writing style. That's when the plot finally aggrandized and I was completely stupefied. You could have lived a thousand years of isolation trying to predict the plot twist and you would never even scratch the surface of what actually transpires in the actual plot of the game. I was so bewildered that I actually had to pause the VN so that my existential crisis didn't dive too deep inside of myself. Even pausing the game was surreal. It's almost as if life paused with the VN. I felt as though I had actually formed a suicide pact with someone. The effects are still wearing off and I haven't been able to reread the game in several years. I spent the following seven years afraid of what outside of my house actually looks like. Every single day and night I live in misery because I became fully aware that happiness is never achievable. I realized that human life has absolutely no meaning and that no matter what I ever do, it is of complete unimportance and in years from now, no recollection of my existence will prevail, meaning that if I died years ago, died now, or die sometime in the future it will not matter whatsoever to anyone. But, then again, the fact that I'm living doesn't matter either so I might as well stick around for awhile, living in complete isolation, condemned to a life of traumatic memories and a completely corrupted sub-conscience. Bee man literally ruined my life. 10/10
Thoughts on the matter will be appreciated, will also appreciate new Petrons, subscribers and followers. Thanks guys.

Alcorin reacted to Okarin in Something happened at Sekai Project?
There's a lot of animosity and even boycott against Sekai. Like Lesiak said, I don't see the benefit in them going under.
I guess there are some people who will say, "they did shit work, they had it coming" but that's a rather extreme view.
Anyway I've seen all kinds of things said against Sekai.
I mean, if people boycott Sekai before Winged Cloud, they're pretty twisted.
This reminds me a bit of the console war, and that's quite sad.
Boycotting them because "they're a mess" will put the final nail on their coffin. Why not help them in their time of need if something they release appeals to you. No, we must send them to oblivion because they... Er... What they did again? I thought they were just another company, with their own misgivings.

Alcorin reacted to littleshogun in The 3rd Tsurezure's Project: Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai
Quite surprising (Or maybe not) that Trip is still working on Touko's route even with break and all, so it's definitely the good news here. Anyway here's the update for this week, or rather the first update for 2019 below:
Common: 100.0%
Sora: 0.0%
Marika: 100.0%
Natsuki: 0.0%
Misa: 100.0%
Rikka: 100.0%

Total: 60.4%
That's all for the first update in 2019 here.

Alcorin reacted to Kenshin_sama in Fuwanovel Confessions
Confession: Today I decided on a New Year resolution that I feel fairly comfortable with. I wasn't planning to have any this year, but then my therapist suggested that I make it my goal to stop being hard on myself. With it being a strong source of anxiety for me, I think it might be worth pursuing this new line of thought and making it my primary focus for 2019.
Even though I wasn't quite able to reach my weight-loss goal, I did lose a substantial amount of weight (58 pounds) and I'm about 15 pounds away from getting out of obesity. And since I've already developed the habit of working out every day, and I won't have that much more weight to lose before I'm in a semi-comfortable range, I think I can leave this as a secondary focus.
I'm gonna aim to be a little more outgoing this year too. So far the only thing I've really done in college is go to class and get good grades. I did have some interaction with one of my coding professors and came up with a few ideas on how to improve my employability, but I've yet to actually do anything to get me in the right direction. That definitely needs to change if I want to stand out a little more to potential employers.
Overall, 2018 was a phenomenal year for me. It was probably the greatest period of growth I've experienced in my whole life, and I'm excited to see how things turn out for me this year.

Alcorin reacted to VirginSmasher in VN Survey
Here's my list of must-haves for VNs.
1. Must have honorifics, no matter what language it is in. I need my chans and sans or else I will kill myself.
2. Must stick thoroughly to Japanese sentence structures. Must have concepts like "Despite this," "Even though," "Is that so?" "Pregnant with," and "Ittadakimasu" or else I will kill myself.
3. Must be edited by an ESL with no proper understanding of English for a genuine experience. Must be overwritten and underwritten at the same time, circa HoshiMemo localization or else I will kill myself.
And by kill myself, I mean bitch about it on r/vns.

Alcorin reacted to Aureus in Tales From Windy Meadow [Fantasy/Slice of life/Pixel Art] (finished - on Steam!)
Marcel Weyers, a very kind writer from Germany, took a closer look at Tales From Windy Meadow and since he found our story to be worth spreading, he decided to help us by translating it into German!
In result, I started working on all the useful tools that could make this translation come true. And since we’re doing it, it will also help us create other language versions, so we already made the first steps into creating the Polish version of the game. ^^
So yeah, I'm already after the game’s release, but I'm not resting yet! : D Are there any other languages supported by Tales From Windy Meadow that you would like to see?

Alcorin reacted to Fred the Barber in What are you playing?
Actually, the dudes are exactly the reason Little Busters is a good game. The girls are just window dressing and a way to get you to spend some time with the characters and learn to like them all. In the end, it's all about the bromance.

Alcorin got a reaction from Okarin in So, How Was Your Christmas?
I've had a lesson on all the hot new conspiracy theories from my grandma. Now I know everything about who is pulling the strings in the government, how corrupt is the church and why everyone is conspiring to destroy my country... Y'know, fun stuff like that Staying off alcohol can be hard sometimes...

Alcorin got a reaction from Dreamysyu in What are you playing?
Hey, y’all mind if I whine about needless shock value for a bit? Thamks.
I’ve just started Deathdays End as a break from Clannad’s slow slice of life (I’ve gotten a tad bored of it, whoops), I’m only about an hour in, but I’ve got beef with one (quite spoilery, so beware) scene. So! In the first scenario, one of the main characters finds this little girl, right? She’s about 8 years old, has no family (as they all got wiped out in the mini-pocalypse that had just befallen the world) nor friends and will most probably not survive a day in the state that she’s in, so he takes her with him. I thought, cool, maybe they’re setting up a The Walking Dead-esque thing with those two, like, the guy is going to take care of and protect the girl, and there’s going to be a growing relationship between the two, maybe some drama, and we’re going to have some cool themes to explore… But nope. Half of an hour in, the girl just ups and does a Sayori. And I’m just like… what? Why? Why the fuck did that have to happen? There was no build-up, no real reason behind it, it just came out of the left fucking field… At this time, I really think that it was done purely for shock value - “ooooh look, the poor innocent little girl just hanged herself, isn’t that horrible?! Don’t you feel bad?!!”. Like… no. I mean, I do, but not for that reason. I just feel… Cheated, I guess? Or maybe disappointed would be a better word for it? It’s just such a transparent attempt to shock the reader and make them feel sad, it just makes my teeth grind. Am I too harsh? I don’t think I am. This whole mess is pretty much this scene:
(Btw, I recommend Terrible Writing Advice, it’s a great show)
Ok, I’m done with my ranting for now. I hope it gets better later on

Alcorin reacted to Clephas in Clephas List: VNs with a Unique/Capable protagonist
Perhaps the most universal complaint of those who read Japanese VNs, regardless of their tastes, is the bland, non-people, average protagonists that make up better than 90% of all VN protagonists. This trend began with the first moege, as a technique to allow people to self-insert more easily, but the tradition has worked against VNs more than it has worked for them, with protagonists with unique quirks turning out to be almost as important to a VN's lasting popularity as heroine quality.
Unfortunately for those new to VNs, it is impossible to tell at a glance whether a protagonist will be interesting or not based on the cover, since most protagonists don't have a tachie, voice-acting, or a character description on the official site, lol.
So, as a service to my fellow Fuwans, I decided to go ahead and make this list. The greater majority of these games will be untranslated, but I will go ahead and list ones that are translated that I know of. Feel free to help me add to the list, though this one is for Japanese-origin games, not EVNs.
The baseline for these protagonists will be that they are either unique, unusual, or capable (intelligent, talented, and/or skilled at something and have something approaching a personality) without deliberate nerfing of their qualities to make heroines stand out more. Harem protagonists who are merely kind to everyone will not count for the purpose of this list, and characters whose personality/capabilities/talents/skills get toned down in the heroine routes will also not qualify.
Translated
Tokyo Babel
Ayakashibito
Hello, Lady (soon)
Hapymaher
Noble Works (yes, he does make the baseline)
Dracu-riot (assuming the official release comes out)
Nanairo Reincarnation (soon)
Tsukihime
FSN
Comyu (yes, I include this... because even if you hate Akihito's man-whore qualities, he is definitely not a cardboard cut-out character)
Rance games (I hate the Rance games, personally, but you can't say he isn't unique)
Majikoi
Tsujidou-san no Jun'ai Road (Dai only seems sheeple on the surface... he has enough depth as a character to qualify)
Eien no Aselia (while his personality is standard for a jrpg protagonist, it has enough twists and unique qualities to make the list)
Seinarukana (similar to above)
Fata Morgana no Yakata (I wavered because of the way the game is structured, but I chose to list it anyway)
Grisaia series
Kikokugai
Demonbane
11eyes
Rewrite (I hate this protagonist, but he stands out, even if he is a dumbass)
Animamundi
Baldr SkyDive (whenever it comes out)
ChuSinGura (I honestly wavered on this one, both because the protagonist is a moron and because I don't consider this to have been truly translated)

Tsuki ni Yorisou, Otome no Sahou
Request includes
G-Senjou no Maou
Aiyoku no Eustia

Shirogane no Soleil
Root Double
Edit: A lot of these characters stand out due to personality traits or quirks, as much as anything else. The key point is that the protagonist is a 'person' instead of a cipher or catalyst. For those who wonder why I didn't include Tsuki ni Yorisou, Otome no Sahou 2, the reason is pretty simple... in every path, the protagonist's individuality vanishes and he becomes enslaved to the heroine's character needs.

Alcorin reacted to sarkasmus in Favored text box presentation in VNs.
I don't like it when the text is covering the whole screen.
It's a visual novel, what's the point in it if you can't properly enjoy the supporting visuals.
In that case I might as well read normal books (which I do as well, and they're cheaper, and they're more easily avaiable, but they're not what I'm looking for when I start a VN).

Alcorin reacted to solidbatman in The Fuwanovel I want for 2019
The website went into its worst ever Fuwapocolypse because of her silliness. The site was literally done for until Tay stepped in, put ol Cybersteel and Steve in charge for a while as he did a bunch of behind the scenes work to bring it back fully and expand the site. For a while, Fuwanovel had very good relations with the localization companies and forged great contacts with them under Tay's leadership. It was Tay who placed people like Zaka and Decay in positions on the website to help bring an influx of activity and repair the VNTS.
Meanwhile Aaeru vanished without a word, got us in big ass trouble by using a pirated version of the forum software, and left the site in shambles. I appreciate what she did starting the site, but its pretty clear to me that it greatly outgrew what she wanted and she likely did not approve of the direction the site was headed (hence her attempts to shut it all down later).

Clannad update:
I WANT TO GET OFF OKANO-SAN’S WILD RIDE
That Sunohara route was… It was quite something, wasn’t it? Ooooh boy. I’m not even sure where to start. It may have been only my second route, but I hereby proclaim Mei to be Best Girl™ - cute, upbeat, hardworking, dedicated… She almost makes me wish I had a little sister myself ;w; She did not deserve any of that punishment she received for, you know, TRYING TO DO SOMETHING NICE FOR HER BROTHER?! Holy shit, did those cunts at the soccer club made me mad Sunohara for the most part was annoying as well, but at least he got better by the end… Much better, actually ^^ I think I have a newfound appreciation for him, if that’s even possible at this point… I also liked the fact that it was more of a friendship route, really. So much so that I’ve got the urge to reconnect with my high school friends right now ^^’ Damn you, Youhei...
Anyway, it seems like I’ve underestimated this novel. Sure, it drags on at times, but when it finally goes down to business, by golly, it can certainly punch ya in the gut Or maybe it’s just because I like the Sunoharas and Okazaki so much. It might just be it. I guess the best way to know is to press on and check the other routes as well, right? *nervous laugh*
But only after I will have found the joke Youhei ending. I just need it right about now, ok? I promise that I’ll cool it with being an annoying fujoshi after that.

Alcorin got a reaction from Thyndd in What are you playing?
First route cleared! 🎉 I decided to go with Miyazawa, a.k.a. Mother Teresa in a school uniform. It was ok. Yukine is a charming girl, that’s for certain. Just a tad bland for my tastes, that’s all. Kinda disappointed that nothing really happened during the route, too. Then again, I’ve heard that it’s one of the smaller “side routes”, so I hope that the other ones will deliver more on that front...
I’m debating doing Mei next. I mean, she’s Sunohara’s little sister, can’t go wrong with that ^^ Yeah, I still love him and Tomoya XD A pair of fuckin’ idiot children, they’re great. I hope there’s some good fanfiction out there
Oh yeah, since I’m at it: I’m really glad that this route didn’t turn into some love triangle drama, as I feared it would. I mean, I guess love triangles are ok if I’m the one making the choice, but to rival Sunohara would just feel… Wrong, you know? So kudos for that, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On to the next one~!
