From JAST, I'm just hoping for more ALcot games. From everyone else, well, it would be nice to have more moege in general.

This is the kind of thing that's so mind-numbingly stupid and ridiculous, that it bypasses the label of "dumb" and ends up being nothing less that a masterpiece, truly the best that humanity has to offer in the field of art.

Whoever said that videogames can't be art has been proven wrong, thanks to the talent behind Dalmatians 3. After watching all 42 minutes and 46 seconds, I can truly say that my life has been forever changed thanks to this animation.

Anime Expo runs from July 2nd - 5th in Los Angeles, and all three major english VN publishers will be present and announcing new products. This is the biggest convention of the year for VNs, and contains the highest concentration of new announcements, it's pretty exciting! Here's who will be there and what to expect from them:

    JAST

JAST's panel comes first at 10PM PDT on Thursday. Nobody is really sure what to expect from JAST, but they have claimed that they will be announcing some stuff there. The safe guess is a new Alcot game (moege dev, makers of My Girlfriend is the President and Clover Days), which is something they teased around six months ago. The more far-fetched guess is Muramasa by Nitro+. It seems like this is going to happen eventually, but JAST has also said they want to wait until projects are further along before announcing them, to avoid Hanachirasu and Sumaga incidents in the future. If you're attending, JAST's booth is #1319.

And it's over! JAST announced Flowers, an all-ages yuri/mystery VN, for fall 2015 which is kind of crazy since everyone thought MangaGamer would be the ones to handle that. Also SoniComi, which was translated and edited by the power duo of Tulip Goddess Maria and Ritobito, so actually look forward to that "soon". Seinarukana will also be out Fall 2015... supposedly. The Alcot game they teased earlier in the year was a no-show, but JAST seemed to imply that they may have more to announce at Comic-con so there is still hope for the moege lovers out there.

    Sekai Project

SP comes second, their panel is at 7PM PDT on Saturday. I know even less of what to expect from SP than JAST. I believe Key is attending AX as well. I would not be surprised by the announcement of another Key game being licensed, be it LB, Rewrite, or maybe even Angel Beats?? They planned to work with Doki on Clannad before that was dashed by the community's desire for a total retranslation, and Doki teased some Little Busters news sometime this summer, so LB may be the most likely suspect. They will also probably announce some doujin games, as is Sekai Project's habit. Interestingly, they just set up a Japanese twitter account and is tweeting about AX in it. It would be a humorous twist if they announce they'll be translating some OELVNs into Japanese. SP's booth is #1720.

Panel summary: Sekai Project continues to impress with their ability to license popular titles. They've managed to grab the highly lucrative Akabei Soft partnership, and will start by releasing G-Senjou no Maou this summer. They've licensed Root Double, a popular survival story made by the director of the Infinity games. They've also announced Chrono Clock for release "soon", which establishes a new partnership with the respected eroge developer Purple Software. Additional news: There will be a remake for the entire Narcissu trilogy, including part 3 in english for the first time, World End Economica Ep. 2 is releasing this month, and Clannad is releasing in November.

    MangaGamer

MangaGamer is last, hosting their panel at 9PM PDT on Saturday. Ryukishi07 of Higurashi and Umineko fame is attending the panel with them, likely to talk about Higurashi's western release. It may be too soon to announce another license deal with him, but who knows, it could happen. MangaGamer has teased four announcements, including three whole new partners. They have separately teased an announcement of a yuri game, and have recently conspicuously posted pictures of SonoHana merchandise at their booth (although they're known to sell goods from completely unrelated VNs). My guess: The one announcement from a current partner is going to be Tsuriotsu from Navel, but really, it could be anything. MG's booth is #919.

AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE! The big announcement of the MangaGamer panel was their partnership with Alice Soft, starting with Beat Blades Haruka. Other announcements included Himawari, a sci-fi work known in Japan for its intricate storytelling, A Kiss For The Petals - Remember How We Met is an all-ages yuri VN coming to Steam from the popular SonoHana yuri series, and MangaGamer will be updating and releasing the Witch Hunt translation of Umineko for sale, with new character sprites. Other news was that Sweet Sweat in Summer will be out this month, Kara no Shoujo 2 will be out this fall, and they're aiming for an end of 2015 release for Gahkthun.

Honorable mentions: Degica is attending and talked about their upcoming Muv-Luv kickstarter, which will go live late August or early September. Aksys Games announced that Zero Escape 3 is in the works and will be available in Summer 2016.

So what are you guys excited about? What do you think is going to happen? If you're attending, feel free to talk about your experiences on the show floor, although keep in mind this thread is about visual novels. I will be updating this post as new information comes out. Your wildest dreams didn't come true? Remember, Otakon is later this month and MG and others will have more announcements there, too.

I actually have the opposite problem that a lot of people do: I'm great when I'm talking within/in front of a group (hence why I like, say, forums), and public speaking is rarely too stressful for me. But when I need to talk one on one with someone, it doesn't matter how well I know them- I start feeling nervous about it. I'm always worried that I'm going to screw things up with that person. Basically, I'd rather embarrass myself in front of a crowd than say something in private that could cost me a close relationship. It's hard to explain, but... well, that's why I'm really bad at responding to private messages of any form, be it PMs here, texts, emails, etc. I have a well-deserved reputation in my family for never responding to anyone's texts.

On a different level, I actually really can't handle vomit at all, whether I'm the one who's sick or someone else is. Like, we're talking mini panic attacks at the sound of it. It's... weird, but I've been that way since I was a kid. Why can't I have normal fears, like a normal person.

Not too long ago I was playing Huniepop when my mom walked in. This wouldn't have been an issue if I hadn't been in the middle of a date with Celeste, where she was wearing one of her... skimpier outfits. (Read: you could see her nipples through her bikini top)

Mom: "Why does she look like that?
    Me: "...She's an alien."

The amount of disappointment in her eyes was unreal.

So I just came back home after retaking my English exam in Highschool to re-apply for college, and lo and behold, the exam's theme was internet freedom and censorship.

I really feel these almost 2 years on Fuwanovel filled with loli threads, "take down da torrentz" threads and "stop censoring my opinion you spawn of Satan" threads really provided me with an insane amount of insight and I truly believe I have just done the most amazing written composition in any English test I've ever made and managed to answer all the questions about why the internet should be a free place.

It was an amazing pleasure to be able to convey all the salt into an actual written exam.

So thank you, Fuwanovel, for constantly debating these ultra important issues, so much so that even Portugal's National English Exam ended up being all about it.

Without you, I would not have been able to write a 220 word composition about "muh freedomz on the internet".

PS: I did end up writing on how lolis shouldn't be censored, but unfortunately that part went over the word limit, but it will forever be remembered in my heart.

suikashoujo reacted to OriginalRen in Monthly Fuwanovel Magazine Idea - Feedback
Edit: This is not a new idea per se, but rather an extension for condensing all of the current material on the site into a nice little quick read for Fuwa users on the go. A lot of people log in, check what they need to, and log off. This will hopefully allow those people to do the same thing, but open their eyes to a little more content around the site so they don't have to click additional links and browse all over the place. In addition, fun games and puzzles can be included too!

This is a suggestion. It might be a bad suggestion, but it is a suggestion. I love working on Photoshop, but more so, I love working on InDesign projects. I used to be a part of my school newspaper team back in high school, and some of the greatest moments were creating layout designs for our monthly issues. I really want to do this for Fuwanovel as well. I got this idea when I was creating the magazine layout for the musical band creation activity, and I thought why not do this for the actual site itself?

So here is my idea. I wanted to (be it alone or with other people) release a monthly Fuwanovel magazine that features all of the content from the previous month. The content in the spread can (but doesn't need to) include:
Blog entry columns highlighting members and the work they post Fuwazette, Fuwareview, and translation status updates New VN releases and other pertinent information A new member's spread. Check who registered for the site and posted an introduction in the last month Creative interviews for contributing members of the site. Essentially, an extension of the community podcast episodes I host with people, but in written form for those who don't like speaking in person A recap of threads members should check out from the site
Again, these are just some ideas we can post in the monthly magazine issue. As stated, each issue would be released every month. Since most of the content in the issue is already written, it would just be a matter of pasting articles inside and making a cool layout design. Not every single thing needs to be featured in every issue, but even a small 3-4 page spread would be a nice recap for new and existing members. Essentially, this can reduce the clutter of recent threads on the sidebar (if this is of interest to anyone) and gives everyone a chance to contribute should they feel like it. That being said, I want to know if this is something people would enjoy seeing. It would be a quick read each month and allows people on the go and lurkers of the site to get instant recaps of what is going on around the site.

So, what I would like is feedback. If feedback is generally positive, I would like to get the ball rolling on this for August if possible, meaning that I will post a separate thread allowing people to pitch font and image ideas for the spread (mainly an awesome cover for the magazine). Members like Emi and Beato would be great additions to this magazine (sorry for singling you out guys) because of their awesome work they are doing for the front site. This has a lot of potential for members who don't get a lot of time to check out all the areas of Fuwanovel. Instead of looking all over the forums for new material, everything listed above can be posted in an easy to find location.

    Anyways, let me know!
