  1. Gonna be hard for anyone to top Yuuji in my opinion. Though Okabe might (but I havn't personally played Steins Gate yet).

Shoutout to Aoi from IMHHW, for not being the brooding, borderline anti-social protag most VN protags are (still somewhat dense when it comes to girls though xD).

  2. Welcome to Fuwa dude.

VN's are "read" (though some VN's have gameplay mechanics). It doesn't really matter though xD

    Some suggestions....

Grisaia no Kajitsu https://vndb.org/v5154 . Looks like a standard Slice of Life comedy. But the humor is ramped upto 11. And the edgy backstories for each girl are ramped upto 11 (you may have to shed some manly tears occasionally). Some routes has some political type intrigue as well.

CLANNAD https://vndb.org/v4 . Another Slice of Life affair, with themes about life and family. Oh, and this VN is really adept at punching you in the feels ..... a lot. Prepare to shed manly tears.... and I mean a lot of manly tears. Also, the music is awesome!

If my Heart had Wings https://vndb.org/v9093 . For more laid back Romance Slice of Life Comedy. Some scenes and music are breathtaking too...

Lucy, the Eternity she Wished for https://vndb.org/v16743 . If you're interested in androids or AI, check this out. Even if you're not, check it out anyways (it's a pretty short VN).

Steins Gate https://vndb.org/v2002 . If you want a thrilling Sci-Fi plot.

Nekopara https://vndb.org/v15538 , and Wagamama High Spec https://vndb.org/v17823 . For shameless sexy action :makina:

  3. Is anyone actually reading this necro'd thread? Well, okay then....

Doctor theme eh? Dunno about that, but Grisaia no Kajitsu had a LOT of hospital scenes. Most were kinda depressing (and one made me tear up in absolute depression, it was the first time I cried in a game).

Havn't played it yet, but Narcissu is about terminal illness (dunno if there are doctors or hospitals there).

Havn't played a game with yanderes (closest I've seen was a slightly violent tsundere). But again, Grisaia no Kajitsu had a character completely flip out, with crazy yandere like laughter too, after she attacked a classmate.

  4. Some of my thoughts on Lucy....

I noticed that humanities' values were not any different then they are today (remember, this game takes place in 2050, and they wern't any different 15 years after that either). But I think when OUR year 2050 rolls around, our values might have shifted somewhat. I think it's inevitable, I think we are due for such a thing, I'll even see it's needed (otherwise corporate power is gonna be insane, and so will climate change, and nothing else will have changed).

In a perfect scenario (or one close to perfect at least), we'd be working side by side with AI. I'd imagine AI would be really good at conflict resolution (Lucy herself tries this often). Take away the "fake news", and take away most of the emotional charge (AI don't have either), and conflict resolution becomes really easy.

  5. Got 100% on Lucy. Short VN, but I won't forget it.

    Spoiler

That scene where she was set on fire will haunt me too....

Just started Symphonic Rain. This seems different from all the VN's I've played so far. Non japanese setting (apparently, it's italian). The hand drawn illustrations makes it look like a fairy tale. That opening song was pretty good too.

    This should be unique....

As someone who's still new in the VN scene, I haven't came across much characters in other VNs I would legitimately hate for moral reasons other than just simple annoyance.  However, there is one character that I utterly despise from Grisaia no Kajitsu.

      Reveal hidden contents

    KIYOKA! IRISU!

Yes, Makina's mother.  She is an irredeemable human being who makes even Yumiko's father tame by comparison.  She's a corrupt head of a family organization with a shady history of underhanded acts, and will assassinate anyone who challenges or exposes her actions.  She assassinated Makina's father, and attempted to do the same to Makina herself with no remorse, going as far as to hire gangsters, secret agents, and even Yuuji's organization to go after her daughter.  Even when Makina was hospitalized, Kiyoka showed no empathy to her, and only saw her as a disposable pawn to use for her own ends.  The absolute kicker to this is that choosing to shoot Kiyoka will only result in the bad ending of Makina's route, so Yuuji's justice was short-lived.  Basically, to get the good ending, you have to let Kiyoka live.  While it's to send a moral message that revenge is pointless, it doesn't help if the character in question has no redeemable qualities whatsoever.

She's probably my 2nd most hated. At least her actual scenes didn't tick me off. Besides (Grisaia no Meiyuu spoilers below)....

    Spoiler

In Makina's afterstory in Grisaia no Meiyuu, Makina gets a measure of payback. And it's implied that one incident wasn't the only time either...

  7. I have a new contender for character who I hate. And it's not even close.

The Father from Lucy, the Eternity she wished for. Every single scene with him seriously upset me. An absolutely miserable person who is so quick to anger. And he was already my most hated, before....

    Spoiler

.... that scene where he set fire to Lucy, which basically destroyed her. A scene which will haunt me forever....

.... the game itself had the final laugh though. It had an extra epilogue scene from his viewpoint in the future. And it's implied he'll basically die alone, unloved (and probably unforgiven).

And for the record, I try my hardest not to hate anyone, and to forgive any character (even some of the Grisaia villains).

  8. Welcome to fuwanovel mnmnoko :mare:

I've recently finished Clannad. I cried more times in that game then I did in my entire life. I didn't even know I had that many manly tears to cry...

Your VNDB shows you playing Kono Oozora. That was my 2nd VN. I like your tastes in VN's.

You havn't played Grisaia no Kajitsu? That was my first VN. I highly recommend you play it at some point.

Personally, I'm actually interested in learning Japanese. So many untranslated VN's out there, and I'd like to visit that country too.

  9. Nekopara series :makina:

Ridiculously cute girls, doing cute things, and being in some over the top sex scenes. You can even set chest size to maximum, and drag the screen to see the tits bounce. Vol2 also has a cute feature where you can mouse over and pet the catgirls (the reactions are adorable).

  10. Imma gonna bump this thread with new favorites I've found since...

    * Sakaguchi Daisuke (Sunohara Youhei from CLANNAD). Sunohara's unmanly screams are EPIC!

    * Tezuka Ryouko (Coconut from Nekopara). She sounds so sweet, especially her giggles...

    * Maihara Yume (Lucy from Lucy, the eternity she wished for). The whole reason I necro'd this thread. Her voice is so .... I don't even have words. And I'm astonished she's only voiced this one character...

  11. CLANNAD's ost ...... is godtier (especially for scoring critical hit to the feels)

    Spoiler

    Cutest character theme ever xD

    Rather epic sad theme

Song for finding inner strength, or something

    Piano pieces man....

This song hits me like a truck! If a scene is even remotely emotional, and this song plays, I'm in tears...

This is downright epic. Song for traveling across the country...

  12. Grisaia for me. It was the first for me, and it's writing and characters are still unmatched for me.

That said, I've only read a tiny handful of VN's so far (let alone most of those poll choices). Majority of those poll options are on my bucket list though.
