  1. I'm gonna be THAT guy. I'm always going to suggest Grisaia no Kajitsu https://vndb.org/v5154 . I might be biased, since it was my first VN, and it was a life changer for me. But I think it'll be up your alley too. It's got a lot of comedy (even has a broken engrish scene), quirky characters (ChiruChiru best girl imo), great writing (I love how the main character thinks about things), nice music (it's about as good as Clannad), and some serious feels (it can be as emotionally powerful as Clannad). I was downright hooked on the entire trilogy.

I'll also suggest Kono Oozora https://vndb.org/v9093 . It was my 2nd VN. Pretty lighthearted overall, but still has plenty of drama and comedy.

  2. Kono Oozora https://vndb.org/v9093 . Fairly lighthearted. Some scenes and music are quite breathtaking. Might want to wait for the new fan patch that is due out in the future.

Grisaia no Kajitsu https://vndb.org/v5154 . Quirky characters, great writing and nice comedy. The various heroine routes gets pretty serious though. Highly recommended.

Clannad https://vndb.org/v4 . Very long VN. It's designed to make people cry at some times (but overall isn't depressing). Endings on the routes are quite powerful. No +18 content.

Wagamama High Spec https://vndb.org/v17823 . Pretty lighthearted, and has some references, and cute music. The H content is more numerous and higher quality then usual.

Katawa Shoujo https://vndb.org/v945 . Unique in that it's not made by a japanese team. It's free too. H content is rather short (or can be outright disabled).

  3. Are we talking songs, or BGM? I'll assume songs (cause we already have a thread somewhere for BGM)....

This song played during a particularly emotionally charged heroic scene. And I teared up SO MUCH (happy tears). Never knew I was that sentimental.... :kosame:

  4. If My Heart Had Wings has at least one.

The epilogue of Grisaia no Rakuen is basically a harem ending on a tropical island (none took place on the beach though).

Surprised Wagamama High Spec never had one at the beach. But they had wet t shirt moments in a pool, and 2 girls sucking a Popsicle (in a very suggestive manner) at a water park...

Grisaia no Kajitsu had ........ well that beach scene with Michiru (getting fingered in her swimsuit) ..... came close to a H scene. Michiru would then have another rather lewd fanservice scene at the beach in her route too (she got sun creamed) xD

Dal Segno ....... had a nice view of Io in her swimsuit at the beach. Then again, her route had quite a lot of panty shots....

I played Snow Presents with machine translation. Well, there's not much content story-wise. It's just a nice SoL event (with way too many H scenes). However, seeing Kotori happy warms your heart even during the coldest of winters.

There's a reason Kotori is still my most favorite heroine.

I'd certainly love to see both of these games get the translation treatment at some point.

  6. 1. A broken "engrish" scene between a motor mouthed loli, and a fake Tsundere. "You rike a fish?". (pretty easy)

    2. Initiation into the "club" involves been thrown off a cliff into the sea. For some reason...

    3. "We are NEVER doing anal again!". Said at least 5 times....

  7. Stalled on Clannad (not the first time I've stalled on this VN either). Like it's characters (Nagisa seems to get a lot of hate on this forum, but I like her too), and the endings are really powerful. But it's pacing is really slow, so I get bored somewhat. I'll definitely return to this when I finish Dal Segno.

Stalled on Doki Doki Literature Club. My depression just had to spike up when I played this. I'll play it later for teh memes though.

Other then that, I've never dropped any VN's. I've got a ton on backlog though (I bought a ton on the Steam Winter sale) xD

  8. I've only read a handful of VN's, and thus I'll only recommend those I've read...

Grisaia No Kajitsu https://vndb.org/v5154 . Has really colorful and quirky characters, sexual themes (quite a lot), and lol comedy (in the common route at least). The drama is mostly related to the dark and troubled circumstances each heroine has, the protag trying to understand each girl, and helping them move past it. The good endings are great though, and there definitely is romance. Yes it has a highschool setting, but it's an isolated school, and the characters pretty much have to be there for one reason or another. The protag .... well he's not your usual protag, trust me on that. Basically, a slice of life drama, that has excellent writing, and some scenes that can punch you in the feels (pretty hard), but overall isn't a depressing game. Highly recommended.

Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa o Hirogete https://vndb.org/v9093 . More lighthearted, and has plenty of comedy. Drama is related around building a glider, and trying to fly it through a very rare weather event. Each character has their own reasons for doing so. Some of the scenes and music are breathtaking (I cried during one scene due to how heroic it was). Typical high school setting. I'd wait for the new fan patch to be completed before trying this VN.

If you want games with an exciting overaching plot, try Steins;Gate, G-Senjou no Maou, and MUV-LUV Alternate. Also, the 3rd game in the Grisaia trilogy was exciting too.

  9. Grisaia No Meiyuu has a comedy rape scene, though the girl was actually half willing (after being ravaged a lot, said girl tries to crawl away, but is slowly dragged back in). Also has a scene with one girl (Michiru) that has 2 souls inhabiting her body (so it's an odd threesome scene). Also, less then 30 seconds into Yumiko's after story, you see her in a bunny suit (which for her, is extremely out of the ordinary).

Grisaia no Kajitsu had a hilarious (and VERY arousing) scene, that wasn't even a H scene. At the beach, Michiru ends up getting 'fingered' through the sand, and her swimsuit, by the maid. Michiru doesn't enjoy it at all (but her screaming was hilarious).

Kotori's 2nd scene (If my Heart Had Wings), had a comedic start (it even had the game's comedy music playing). Her reaction was priceless xD

Dal Segno had a Softcore H scene in Io's route. She flips out when she suddenly realizes she's lost all of her clothes. And the morning after, she attempts to 'admonish' the protag, but her panties are visible the whole time. She flips out again when she's told. And she has another embarrassing panty incident the next day (she gets stung on her Thigh, and she's forced to lift her skirt while the protag applies cream).

Technically not a H scene per say, but Clannad had a funny moment. In Tomoyo's route, the protag on 3 seperate times, "imagines" having his way with her in the kitchen. In his imagination, it ends badly for him every time, as he's immediately stabbed in the forehead by a random object (the 3rd time, it was a radish xD). Protag is like "This is how it ends, AGAIN!?".

Katawa Shoujo had an awkard anal scene with Emi. At LEAST 5 times after that, they say "we are NEVER doing anal again!".

  10. Nekopara games are short and sweet. Overtly cute catgirls doing overtly cute things (and extremely lewd things if you have the +18 versions of course). Vol2 also has a cute feature where you can pet the heads of the catgirls (and your sister), where they will purr in an adorable manner.

Clannad ...... is a very long VN with some really powerful endings. It also has some amazing music imo. You will probably cry a lot...

The Fruit of Grisaia is amazing. It has laugh out loud comedy, endearing (and quirky) characters, great music, and some serious feels (boy does it have some feels). Highly recommended (even if it might take a while for it to hook you). I'd recommend the rest of the trilogy too if you enjoy this game.

Devil on G String is seriously high up on my wishlist. I'm just waiting for a +18 release before I play that.

Idol Magical Girl is a wacky spinoff of the Grisaia series. It depends on how much you liked Michiru. Fortunately for me, ChiruChiru is my most favorite character ever! So I'll be playing this series when I need cheering up.

Highway Blossoms is some sort of Yuri game apparently.

Narcissu is about life and death.

Sound of drop ..... from what I've heard ...... is nightmare fuel. Has some very descriptive endings that are not shown, letting your imagination wreck you. At least that's what I've heard....
