The porn should have stayed banned in the first place. Porn is not good for people especially CP is not

We don't even know if loli is the problem in this case (well, one of the heroines IS a middle schooler), but the question is always always "your loli mileage may vary". What's even constitutes a loli for a game to be banned because of it? For some people it's actual kids, for some people it's "cute and with small breasts" like Swin Swin exemplified, for others it's any underage character. There's absolutely no consensus. Hell, I remember seeing in Steam forums people complaining how in Fureraba the girls looks like 13 (yeah, sure.......). The "all characters are above 18+" doesn't fly with us, let alone with people that equates cute/moe = kid. They go for art alone.
Valve's policy being really vague also doesn't help. Like Stormwolf said, it seems valid for them to try to avoid the legal risk and ban anything loli/shota, but that's not really written there anywhere nor what constitutes a loli for them.

If they're targeting vn's with depiction of child pornography (loli's) then i can't really fault them. Many countries doesn't allow the import of vn's, especially with loli's, and steam could potentially get sued for it and face serious repercussions. They might simply not want to have depiction of children having sex in the first place? It's a grey area for vn's since it's drawn and not real, but that doesn't change a thing once the lawsuits start raining.
I'm sure loli lowers will argue this until their faces turn blue, but the fact is that it's small girls/boys having sex. It will be controversial no matter how you twist and turn it.
Censoring and removing regular vn's is just pure idiocy though and likely nothing but agenda driven.

And once again, Steam picks up their pitchforks. Not only are they removing store pages for VNs, they are banning them, which means that you can no longer submit an altered version; if they ban your title, it's banned for good. No going back. (In the past you could submit a new, altered version to get your game on steam, and they only banned very specific games like Key to Home, but now they aren't allowing this at all, I guess.)

Well uh... I never really intended to come back to Fuwanovel all of a sudden, but thanks to this thread, it lured me back in. And yes, I was genuinely angry at the news. I guess this means that I still care for VNs even if I claim I don't. I'm a tsundere!
Funny how I always end up back here even if it's unintentional. Fuwa must be a black hole or something. I can't escape even if I try.
But since I'm back in Fuwa's event horizon, might as well stick around. I've already botched my farewell.

Also, @Kiriririri was half-right about me returning in a week. I say half-right because I didn't make an alt account this time.

Dafuq? Are you guys psychics or something? How did you guys know I'll be here?
Anyways, CeruleanGamer the NTR Witch has arrived to educate you lovelies the beauty of Netorare.
Not everyone who reads NTR are masochist. I am naturally a hard S when it comes to fetishes and pornography and NTR highly appeals to me because....
For me, the greatest appeal of NTR is the CORRUPTION ASPECT.
Nothing is tastier than seeing a well mannered girl or even a strong willed girl become submissive once she surrenders to lust. It's just lovely to see. Most people have the notion that women are these pure and beautiful creatures who do nothing out of the ordinary, but the NTR genre pushes it out of bounds by mixing the powerful emotion of jealousy and depression to create a setting where your typical woman is now a lot hornier and sex crazed than the male protagonist. It's like an escape in real life because the current social outlook in real life is that men are perverts and are always thinking about sex. In NTR, it's different. You now have the girl who is hornier and is willing to surrender herself and become someone's plaything.
There is this old saying: "Men want to sleep with the whore but want to marry the Madonna." NTR reverses that and makes the Madonna, the Mary Sue, the Yamato Nadeshiko, the prim and proper wife the whore and the mixture of corruption, exhibitionism, and voyeurism spices it up and doesn't make it as boring as your typical vanilla VN where it's just a meet n fuck, happily ever after setting.
P.S. Thanks to @Nosebleed for summarizing the types of NTR. Glad I didn't have to write a couple more paragraphs for that.

The appeal is the feeling of jealousy NTR inspires.  The appeal of it could be likened to why people go for nakige.  Good NTR makes you feel trapped, helpless, depressed.  It manipulates your emotions and features unique sexual situations.  It provides a striking contrast to vanilla moe, and that makes it interesting, especially when the elements are combined together in one work.
The best NTR is the type where the NTR is a bad end of sorts, or where the NTR is unavoidable but you can still get a 'good end'.  School Days is a good example of effective use of NTR, since Makoto is forced to choose between pursuing both girls at once or getting one of them NTR'd.  The threat of NTR creates dramatic tension that enhances the storyline and forces the player to make tough choices.

Doki Doki seemed like a meme/joke VN to me, so I'm not surprised it's chock-full of cheap shock value. I didn't bother finishing past the first route because it's so stale and generic. Most of its "shock value" content was already spoiled by the ubiquitous Doki Doki memes anyway.

I wouldn't pay Zakamutt's comments any mind; he's just fishing for a response. Very typical behaviour of elitist 'muh Japanese' NEETs that know nothing of the world beyond the walls of their parents' home.
That aside, I do understand your frustration, but I don't think taking it out on the team members, past or present, is a good idea. No, people don't always know their own limits. A lot of people that join projects are inexperienced, young, or unsure of their own capabilities. Things happen, and at the end of the day it's entirely a group of volunteers doing something out of passion. I'm sure most of the people that were once involved with the project would have liked to see it complete just as much as you do.
Rather, I would encourage you to put your energy to good use and focus on your current and future endeavours. You may very well be able to contribute to a new (or existing) project for this game, no?

Suppose I owe an apology to FRC. I do get why you dropped it. Guess I shouldn't be putting everyone into a single box and generalize things.
Still, my point stands regarding the commitment sorely lacking in TL groups nowadays, especially when you looked at the dropped and stalled projects as of late.

Another week, so here's another update for this week below:
    Common: 100.0%
    Sora: 0.0%
    Marika: 100.0%
    Natsuki: 0.0%
    Misa: 70.59%
    Rikka: 0.0%
    Touko: 0.0%
    Total: 32.23%
Good that Trip did took a liking at Misa's route, and that he already finished with Misa's school arc along with reach 30% translated mark. Oh and even if we have Misa's route fully translated at the next week (Which is almost certain), Trip did say that it's still didn't mean that we'll gonna have Misa's patch at the next week because there's still some editing work (I assume that he'll release it two weeks later).
That's all for this week update.

Apologies for making this thread in the "Introduce Yourself" section, but I see nowhere else to put it.
Anyway, after taking the time to regather my thoughts considering my recent mental state, I've officially decided that I will be leaving Fuwanovel. This isn't out of personal malice, but considering everything I have directly and indirectly caused on both this forum and on the discord, my stress level is at an all-time high, and I could not take the pressure anymore. You guys were good people, and it was fun to hang out with you while it lasted.
That being said, I was never into VNs to begin with. For this whole time, I felt like I was forcing myself to read a medium I do not particularly enjoy in order to fit in with the community, and it just felt unnatural. Don't forget that I never joined this community for VNs alone, but that I just wanted to mingle with people, and that's about it really. Obviously, this backfired on me as I had no idea what you guys were talking about 90% of the time, and I only made myself known talking about non-VN related stuff. I'm more of an anime and video game type of guy, and VNs are just not for me. I'm very sorry. The only VN I'll continue to read after this is Fate/stay night because, you know, it's Fate, but that'll be my last VN ever.
Take care guys. I'll still remember you for a long time to come.

Ramaladni reacted to LemiusK in Happy Thanksgiving, What are you thankful for and why?
I'm thankful for having experienced 428 Shibuya Scramble. It's not everyday (literally) that you get to experience an amazing game like this that emotionally shook me to the core. I mean, I literally have to wait for two or three years before something this impactful pops into my life, you know? Be it a movie, anime, or a video game. The last time I was this emotionally moved was... maybe six years ago, when I experienced the consequences of all my decisions in the previous Mass Effect games. Man, that was... nerve-wrecking, having to contemplate all that I've done for my crew-members of Normandy, and having to live with their deaths (or survival).
428 was something similar, but on a much more simpler scale. It's more traditional and idealistic, but in that sense, it's also more heartwarming. Your role in saving Shibuya feels just as important as the many wonderful characters in there trying their best to help out, no matter how small their role might be.
Anyway, I'm not going to go into too much details here. I'm just thankful I got to experience something like this, and perhaps lament a bit that I probably won't experience something as impactful for a long time to come.
I'm also thankful that I got Fate/hollow ataraxia to work on my computer at last, after the many bugs and errors I previously experienced. The long-awaited sequel to one of the greatest VNs of all time has finally been voice-patched. Now we just need to get an anime adaptation...
On a similar note... ROOT DOUBLE IS FINALLY WORKING TOO! I thought I would never get to play this game yesterday because I kept experiencing some weird bug. It's not exactly expensive since I got it 60% off, but still. Thankful, thankful, thankful.
I would also like to thank Sekai Project for translating this, along with the many, many VNs they've translated, and the many VNs to come. Keep up the good work, SP.
Finally, I would like to thank @Ramaladni for commenting on my newly-created blog. We might not have been able to come to an agreement regarding our views of VNs with choices, but I'm thankful he commented on it, since new blogs like this often get ignored.

Ayy I worked on that one, I can confirm it's well-translated [although some typos here and there if they bother u alot then rip]
I really like this VN and its DLC, but sadly although the translation is usually accurate it has pretty janky english most of the time would not recommend until it's fixed. It's still better than most cvns tho which says a lot
There's also Soulslayer, I'm part of the team that translated but didn't work on it personally. Good tl, interesting read.
God's One Day World, same as Soulslayer, though doesn't interest me as much personally, I think the tl is a bit rougher tho
Companion was tl'd pretty well as far as I can remember, prolly the best of the bunch here
Lingua Fleur: Lily should be coming out soon and it should have a good TL if you like yuri
There's this for Korean, I can't rlly comment on tl accuracy but it's definitely one of the more... interesting English translations I've witnessed

But yeah, overall there's not much demand for Chinese visual novel translations regardless of the quality of the VN. They don't ever have H (unless it's Taiwanese, but it still probably won't) and they don't have as much cultural draw as Japanese media. Which is a shame, because I think there's a lot of good ones out there...

lol, what's 4chan? But seriously, taking a bunch of permatrolls seriously is a waste of time and energy. Even if you are jaded you should make an effort to be a decent human being. I don't join major social networks, as a personal policy. My primary reasons are my belief that the human brain degenerates when it is exposed to large groups of people as opposed to conversations with a smaller group and my distaste for people who can't bring themselves to look at reality. Not only that, obsessing over other people's opinion of you - in the form of kudos, thumbs ups, etc. - has a lot of bad effects on an individual's mental health. Cynicism and constructive criticism are one thing, but being poisonous without making a legitimate point is a habit far too many people are into on the net.

Ramaladni got a reaction from Akshay in My quest for comfort. The best way to read VNs "like a book".
Extract the script and print it...could even add some screenshots for imagery.

I have read two VNs on my android tablet and I had issues flagging the True End for one of them, so I never got to finish it. Thus, I can't really recommend unofficial Ren'Py ports, if not for Kinetic Novels. I'd say that a tablet is quite handy though, especially for college and whatnot.
The Switch is something I can recommend especially if you're into JRPGs, but I'd say that most VNs will remain Windows only. If you have a 3DS, how about playing the text heavier interactive games, such as the Ace Attorney series? I only wish that I could be playing AAI2 on my handheld instead of on an emulator, so I understand your wish for convenience and comfort.
If you feel you are running out of titles to read in English, maybe it's time to consider learning Japanese?
