But a vn about torture is where i draw the line, or to me more precise permanent bodily harm for the sake of porn.

ShinRaikdou reacted to Aizen-Sama in (DEAD) Hanasaki Work Spring! Translation Project. Second attempt.
    Description

In the midst of spring, the season of first encounters and love, Yuuma was content to waste his time away. However, these dog days began to change with his chance meeting with the mysterious Inori, the Yuki-onna of Suzugaoka Gakuen. Soon after, he was invited by Ayano to the ‘ghost club’, which is actually not related to the occult, but rather a gathering place for people with regrets. He was made the new leader of the club despite his reluctance.

Before long, he was surrounded by peculiar girls left and right: cool lone wolf Inori, carefree repeater Ayano, smitten kouhai Hikari, and pushy ‘bro’ Wakaba. Who will he end up in this irreplaceable youth story?

Working!(more comedy than romance, but has a double conclusion)
    Mashiro-iro Symphony

It's unclear to me whether none, some, or all of them are intended to be canon. The one I played (and it looks like they all were like this, judging by the description of the ones I didn't play) could reasonably have been inserted in the timeline of the game, so it's actually kind of strange to me that they didn't do so.
I only played one of them (Shino's), and purely from a character relationship perspective, it was actually an interesting experience. If I do accept it as canon to the game universe, it dramatically changes my perspective on the relationship between Keiji and Shino, and even helps me appreciate them a little more. It's mostly just porn, of course; I'm not going to claim that it adds huge depth to the game. But it does add some, which is why I find it odd that it wasn't part of the gameplay.

I just finished it. Couple of informational notes:
It's pretty short. I finished it in I think five sessions, and I generally don't have the attention span for more than about an hour at a time of anything. Also, I listened to the voice acting most of the time and have a tendency to read slowly. It ends on a big cliffhanger. There are no H scenes when you're actually playing the story, but I think all the H content is accessible from the main menu from the moment you install the patch. Some of the poster characters barely get any screen-time. The game mostly focuses on R-ne, Shino, Kumiko, and Keiji. I assume we'll see more of Lily, Yukie, and Kanade in the later volumes.
    More judgmental / opinionated things:
It's super cute. The Emote stuff mostly looks pretty cute, too, although the set of animations it uses when walking towards the camera always looks weird to me. Other than that, big thumbs-up. They have a really broad set of animations (eye positions, especially) which they really put to good use to communicate emotion effectively. I really noticed that with Kumiko, especially, but that might just be me being fascinated with Kumiko... I found the setting and setup more interesting than a run-of-the-mill moege (as a baseline for what I mean by "run-of-the-mill moege", maybe consider Princess Evangile). Also, despite having a fairly unique setup, it doesn't burn a lot of time on infodumps, instead sliding stuff in pretty quietly while focusing on slice-of-life scenes for both characterization and character development (the latter happening mostly just for R-ne). This is not to say it's amazing or anything - just that it's better than average. Kanade and Kumiko are still duking it out for best girl in my mind. I'm betting on Kanade in the long run, but she really didn't get much time on the stage in this game, which was disappointing. The translation is frankly pretty bad. It's extremely literal, to the point of having very unnatural phrasing, with lots of wasei eigo just carried over word for word which often comes out as near-gibberish. Though it did seem like they were getting better at that particular problem as the script progressed. That said, the script has been been pretty well copy-edited and proofread, so most people probably won't notice or mind the issues... One point in favor of the translation: the translator did a decent job of making character voices unique and (fairly) consistent. I think they definitely went too far with infantilizing R-ne's speech, especially since she's supposed to mature a fair bit over the course of the game, and it would've been better if her speech had reflected that, but otherwise I saw and appreciated the differences in how each of the characters talked. So, kudos on that.

    Vita.
Exclude tons of JRPG, Vita is superior console for VN with new content and best technical part. But, you need to know how deal with japanese language.

    In English part :
There is Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls,
VanillaWare games(Odin Sphere, Draron's Crown, Muramasa), SAO 1-3 games(if you fan of anime/ranobe), One Piece 1-3(again, if you fan of anime/manga), Senran Kagura SV and EV...
Many good rhythm games like Project diva 1-2-X, Persona 4 DAN, Senran Kagura Bon Appetit and more...
Also fighting games - MVC3U, dengeki-bunko, Dead or alive and Blazblue in better versions than 3ds.
And one of the main genre - hunting games like Monster Hunter from 3ds. Vita has - Freedom Wars, Soul Sacrafice, God Eater 1-2, Toukiden 1-2, Phantasy Star(JAP only), Ragnarok Odyssey...

Thats it. And there much more turn-based classic JRPG.

Hi all. Me again. By now you probably know what it means when you see me post on this thread. That's right, I'm adopting the translation of yet another route. This time it's the H*k*ru twins. Which is both good and bad because it means we'll keep making progress towards but it also means more of my translation quality. The translator allocated to this disappeared a long time ago after finishing just two scenes which, from what I can see, needed a lot of fixing anyway. Since I'm one who always comes through with what I've promised, it means that at least this other route will also be finished in the foreseeable future. I guarantee the quality of my work will justify the peanuts I'm being paid to do it. Ruu \o/

Hello! I'm Rimi and I'd like to bring "Chaos;Head Love Chu Chu!" over to the English speaking community! I feel I'm on the way to at least being able to look for translators as all the needed tools have been found or created. If your interested on how I came to the current point you can read about that over on where I first started a thread for this project over on GBATemp - http://gbatemp.net/threads/chaos-head-chu☆chu.432748/. Anyway if you weren't aware ChuChu is a game that branches off from it's main game "Chaos;Head" which is part of the SciADV series. We would be working with the PSP version of the game as I do not own nor know where to start with modifying xbox360, ps3, or vita games.

ive learned what the title for the vn is called in english. "My Girlfriend, My Lover, and I" as for the project itself, im almost done with Ayano's route. im on another h-scene so its taking a while but after that, should be smooth sailing. im not entirely sure how to accurately determine the percentage of completion, but ive gotten 106 files left to complete. subtract that form however much in total i said earlier and there you go.

ShinRaikdou reacted to Nosebleed in Some Useful Tools to Help Read Manga/Books in Japanese
So we all know there's multiple ways to help us read Japanese VNs by now. All Japanese VNs have text you can grab and display, which makes them an easy target for practicing reading. There's one downside though, visual novels are typically incredibly long, especially if you are a beginner (yes, even the shorter ones can take a while to read if you're inexperienced). I always thought this downside affected lots of people that wanted to practice reading but didn't have the time/energy to read through an entire VN in Japanese to start with.
However, other mediums like manga and LNs are much more difficult due to requiring you to either constantly look at a dictionary or just know all those kanji from memory (with the exception of manga that have furigana, but those are usually aimed at younger audiences and might not be the most interesting). It felt unfair that such fun media couldn't be used as easily to study Japanese.
Well luckily yesterday I was talking to a friend on discord and fanboying over the Monogatari Series with them and they ended up showing me a few tools they used to read LNs, and after that I myself looked up for ways to read manga in Japanese, and thus we come to this thread in which I'm hoping to share something useful with those of you who wish to read these mediums as a way to practice Japanese.
Note: If you know any other/better software, please by all means share it!
    Kanjitomo
Kanjitomo is an incredibly useful software to read manga on your computer. It detects kanji/words by simply hovering over them with your mouse. But not only that, it gives you the reading/meaning of those words/kanji. And lastly, if it fails to show the correct kanji, it shows you a list with similar looking kanji for you to browse, it also lets you edit the individual kanji contained in the word in case it guessed the 2nd or 3rd characters wrong, thus always letting you pick which is the right one.
    Some screenshots:

    Advantages:
Easy word lookup Very customizeable Let's you actually import images and scroll through multiple images in a single folder. Also supports Chinese Disadvantages
Can get laggy sometimes (mostly on startup) The zoom feature can get somewhat annoying to control Although it lets you import files, I found the file viewer annoying to use and prefer to just use some other software to open the images Download (requires Java to be installed): http://kanjitomo.net/
    JGloss
This software is primarily geared towards books. What it does is it lets you import .txt files (or copy text) and open them in the reader. After that it places furigana on top of all the words, and also creates a glossary of words on the right for you to look up if you need. One feature I really appreciated in it was that it only displays furigana for the first instance of a word only, forcing you to memorize the word after that (although if you want to, you can select the word and it'll look it up for you regardless).
Now you might be thinking, doesn't Translation Aggregator also do something similar? While TA does indeed have these same functions, TA is mostly practical for smaller chunks of text, not whole sections of a book.
    Screenshots:

    With translation enabled:

    Advantages:
Easy way to read large chunks of text with furigana Can use different parsers. Can also place the English translation underneath the words if needed Creates a glossary of words for an easy lookup Pretty costumizeable interface (you can change the font/size/colors/etc.) Also works with German Disadvantages:
Requires you to copy the text or have a text file of the book you're reading, which doesn't always happen. Parsing is not perfect and you may find some weird results at times (but that's the same for any Japanese parser). It seems to have a certain limit of text it can display (I kept running into an error when I imported a lot of text), so you may not be able to import whole books but instead have to copy multiple chunks (they're pretty big chunks though) Download: http://jgloss.sourceforge.net/
    Yomichan
Yomichan is an Anki add-on that lets you read text and look up words while simultaneously being able to create an anki deck for the words you want. This tool is incredibly useful if you want to study and read a book at the same time.
    Screenshot:

    Advantages:
Lets you read entire books at once (you can also copy the text) Very easy to create an anki deck with the words from the text Disadvantages
No furigana on the text itself  Requires you to have the book in a .txt file More useful for studying than actually reading Download (requires anki to be installed): https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/934748696
    Capture2Text
Capture2Text is a simple but intuitive OCR (Optic Character Recognition) program that lets you select a part of your screen to convert into text. It's useful to grab whole sentences from a specific bubble of text or a sentence from a book and automatically copy them to your clipboard, which you can then use to do whatever. If you're a translator, it makes the script writing process much easier since you don't have to manually input everything.
(I don't really have any screenshots since all the software does is grab and copy text.)
    Advantages:
Easy way to grab text from an image and paste it onto your clipboard (or someplace else) Works well in conjunction with other software like TA. Disatvantages:
The recognition can fail pretty hard depending on the font used (you can easily end up with scrambled jibberish) Download: http://capture2text.sourceforge.net/

I know it's not groundbreaking and it might not even be as appealing as just grabbing text in a VN, but I find manga and LNs very fun and less tiresome to read and so these tools come in really handy for that purpose.
Think of it this way, do you want to start practicing Japanese by reading an entire visual novel with more than a thousand lines from the get go, or would something smaller like a 20 page manga chapter be a little easier for starters? Of course, this doesn't mean you shouldn't try to read visual novels, they're great practice, but I think a lot of people lose themselves when starting off with them and perhaps these tools will help keep the focus on studying and memorizing things a bit more instead of just reading.

Alright here's a thought, beside me are there anyone else that hate the concept of 'Main Heroine' in a story that have more than one Love Interests?
As in, 'No matter what development happen and how perfect they are as a couple she won't win because she's not the main heroine' kind of plot.
Purely an opinion of course but i really feel that it's kind of unfair that a Side Heroine who have better chemistry with the MC lose just because she's not the Main, and in the end of the story, the Main Heroine will end up with the MC simply because she's a Main Heroine.
Quite honestly, i'm sick with this kind of plot and got dissapointed many time because of this
IF the romance between the MC is well develop then i wouldn't have complain, but more often than not it's their status as Main Heroine that enable them to win.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve finished translating Izumi’s route.
This was an even more enjoyable route to translate than the last one, as Izumi ended up being my favourite route in the game. This is also the reason my progress was faster than last time.
Izumi is a complex tsundere that is very passionate and sensitive. There were more tears in this route than you could poke a stick at, yet I found it hard not to weep myself when they were tears of joy. It was also pleasant translating different bodily fluids for a change.
Alas Astro still seems to be snowed under so I can’t give you an estimate of when he may do a translate check on my routes and if he’ll create another patch or not. I’ll be travelling shortly so I don’t anticipate I’ll be translating anything for the next month or more. As there are translators for the other routes I don’t anticipate having more input into this project (though one can never be sure). It’s been great fun and I hope people will get to play it in English some time in the not-too-distant future.
