  1. Enigma has a couple of those.
  2. Obligatory Himawari mention. Sounds like it'd fit your tastes pretty well (well, besides the all-ages part).
  3. Like people give a shit about the translation being bad. As long as it's out in English, they won't care. Hell, there are still people who think they're truly reading White Album 2 by reading the TL. Not saying that this TL is bad. I haven't had the chance to look it over. Just saying that nobody honestly cares about quality in fan translations just because they do it for free, as if it's any reason to excuse a bad TL.
  4. What else did you expect? People to sympathize with your laziness and lack of respect for the original text by forcibly butchering it through Google Translate? Get real.
  5. Hello again. It's been so long since I last updated you guys on how this project is going. Since last time, Ittaku's finished his side of the translation and Hasa will be working hard to finish his part. Now for the updates Translation Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 100% (2691/2691) Miyabi Route - 100% (10854/10854) Shino Route - 100% (11335/11335) Tonoko Route - 100% (8709/8709) Branch School - 56% (3269/5846) Total - 57% (38952/68206) TLC Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 6% (157/2691) Branch School - 3% (187/5846) Total - 3% (2135/68206) Edit Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 6% (157/2691) Branch School - 53% (3076/5846) Total - 7% (5014/68206) We are still looking for a permanent TLC to work on this project. Please PM me if you're interested in working as a TLC for this project. That's all for now. I'm gonna update this whenever there's been some significant progress from now on, so the updates won't be as regular. それじゃあ、またね。
  6. It's not really the VN bubble that's popping more than the Kickstarter being used to help fund VNs bubble is popping. VNs have never truly sold well as a genre, but some titles still sell well for the medium nowadays.
  7. It sucks to see this happen as I find Minori to be a decent company that I can rely on for releases, but with their high production values mixed in with losing Mikage and Yuu Kagami coinciding with an apparent drop in quality in their releases (I can't say for myself since I haven't read anything they've released past Yorino, just what I've heard), this was gonna happen eventually, especially with their sales getting worse over time. This is gonna make a few Minori titles appear on MG's survey, that's for sure.
  8. Because English translations hardly ever break 7/10 in terms of quality and licensing from 2017 onwards has sucked ass for the most part. It was specifically Anime Boston 2018 with Mangagamer's panel that convinced me I had to learn JP in order to truly enjoy the medium again. Like a month and a half. Finished the entirety of Tae Kim's Grammar Guide before starting with Umi Kara Kuru Mono. I found Umi Kara to be quite taxing and difficult. Tasogare no Sinsemilla was a chore, mainly due to a boring common route, but the language became progressively easier to read. I pretty much got grammar down during my 3rd finished VN in KareHana. I use a combination of Textractor + Chiitrans to read. My vocab still isn't that good, so I'm probably gonna be using it for a while. Through reading untranslated VNs, my passion for the medium has been reignited. Would definitely recommend learning the language as it opens up a ton of options for reading.
  9. I wouldn't say that as those 3 are in my top 5 of all time and helped convince me to learn JP in the first place, but I do see your point somewhat.
  10. Or calling it pretentious for having themes to its storytelling.
  11. Having read Himawari and Himawari Aqua After, I will say that it is a continuation from Aqua's end in Himawari. It deals with the aftermath of Aqua's route as well as various issues their current relationship has. It's easily the best FD I've ever read as it doesn't feel like a complete waste of time (aka just there to add more routes and milk the series). However, it most likely will never be translated as Himawari didn't do well in sales. Unless somebody decides to most likely poorly fan translate it, I wouldn't hold much hope.
  12. Extremely surprised to see Deep One on this list especially after the fiasco the episodic shit caused. Other than that, pretty much what I expected from this list. Glad to see a Lucle game getting into the top 10 and still bewildered at how people still enjoy Yuzusoft's mediocrity. Also, >NukiTashi being called a nukige omegalul
  13. Textractor is the best one out there right now. I use it in combination with Chiitrans as a parser for dictionary definitions and look up random words it doesn't hook properly online. Here's the git for it. https://github.com/Artikash/Textractor/releases
  14. Honestly, any Japanese reader will tell you to read whatever you find the most interesting. I wouldn't go jumping into a VN by Mareni, Masada, or Romeo right off the bat, but just pick something that will hold your interest and use a text hooker to help memorize vocab that'll pop up throughout your reading.
  15. Honestly, if you want to have a good 2019, learn Japanese and read all the great unTLed stuff out there like Kusarihime, Kami no Ue no Mahoutsukai, and Umi Kara Kuru Mono. But if you're too unmotivated to do that, here's some that should tide you over. Himawari Dies Irae Subahibi Fata Morgana Myth Enigma Kara no Shoujo series Chuusotsu Soundless
  16. UmiKara. Only has a rating around a 7 on VNDB, but it is a truly gripping denpa VN. The atmosphere, twists, and characters are all oppressive as hell, so it's not for the people who enjoy light-hearted stuff. I gave it an 8/10 and is my second favourite denpa VN behind Myth
  17. I wish you luck in your studies then. I'd recommend reading this and taking notes if you want to get into reading unTLed VNs faster. http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar This argument goes completely out the window once you actually think about it. 1. If you would truly love to learn Japanese, you could find even half an hour during your day to dedicate to studying. Even if your study periods are in small, allocated amounts of time, you will progress over time. 2. I know quite a few people who've been in your situation and have managed to learn Japanese nonetheless. It honestly just sounds like you're not motivated enough.
