  4. Hey guys, So after seeing how big Tasogare no Sinsemilla is, I decided that it may be better to train in the mountains with much, much shorter VNs first. I want to see if I can tackle Summer Surprise, which runs on the Artemis Engine. I'm able to extract the resources and edit the scripts, but how do I repackage it into the root.pfs.xx archive? I've looked around, and there aren't very many resources for the Artemis Engine, and GARbro doesn't create those archives. Thanks for any help and advice you can provide!

This is newly formed translation group Kinniku22, and we have decided that after 15 years of going untranslated, we're gonna try our hand at developing a fan translation of the Studio Mebius VN, Snow The Visual Novel: "The story of Snow starts when the main protagonist Izumo Kanata visits a small village called Ryujinmura (village of the dragon god) to help his cousin Tsugumi manage a local hotel with hot springs. In the village there is an old legend: In ancient times, the village is protected by the dragon goddess. However, one day the dragon goddesses fell in love with a human, which is strictly forbidden, and this incident finally caused the village to be always covered by snow after that. The game then tells the daily life of the protagonist in the village, and finally links the story to the legend of dragon goddess." The Project: Snow is a Nakige released way back in 2003, and has gained a bit of a reputation as an enigma. Many who have played it claim it is good, some even say one of the best, yet all these years later it is not only hard to acquire, but there's been next to nothing on any sort of fan translation. We aim to change that. This translation will also be of the "Plus Edition" of Snow, which contains full voices and an extra route. This is an 18+ version of the game. Team Members: Right now it's just myself and a fellow who goes by the name of Takafumi. We'll be handling the development of the patch itself and the QC, as well as a bit of the translating. We're looking to recruit some folks here from the community who would like to see this project done. Anyone experienced/fluent in Japanese that can communicate with the team in English is more than welcome to come on board! Progress: As we have only just begun, we're busy combing through the files for now. We estimate about 76,000 lines needing to be translated, about a thousand more than the original Little Busters!   8. Update 2017-8-31- All current and future work has been moved to the 2016 HD remake of the game . The old 15% patch for the original 2008 version is still linked however. Update 2019-6-2- The 56% English patch with interface translations for Musumaker HD is out. Download it here. Just extract or copy and paste to the game directory. Be sure to apply the official 1.18 update patch first, however! Link Update 2020-12-25- The debug version is now available for easy access to all routes except Karin and Hikari, and providing a more straightforward experience. Just copy it to the game directory like the last one. Once you have it installed, you can access the different routes by the hand icon that appears at the top right of the main menu.   9. 2019-08-07 19:21:06 A little update on the files, please make sure you put the AUGEvent folder into your game folder (Don't worry I use another .dat file for the extra). I need to cut 2 dialogs into 2 parts, one Ashoka from the 01_USA編_04ブリタニアとインド_010_デリーに進軍, and the other one is Balin from 01_USA編_04ブリタニアとインド_012_ブリタニアとインドが仲間に. They are way too long when translated, and the message box isn't big enough to fit it all in one dialog... It has 100% of the in game and H scene memories text translated. A special modified executable is generated that has most of the menus converted to English and supports a font change. The font is patched to one that is more suited to English text allowing substantially more text on screen which is important given the low resolution of the game on modern screens. In game icons have been graphically edited to English (see screenshot) where possible. Finally H scenes have all been manually decensored. As there was demand from some people to NOT include the decensored material, there is a choice of two patches to use: one that includes all the changes including the decensoring and one that only patches the menus for those who prefer to fap to big pixels instead of pr0n. The only thing that I could not get working was the ability to click on quoted text to replay voice - the position on screen where this happens does not align with the text. Music mode with translated theme and composer titles. PROJECT BACKGROUND: I have been working on this project for 10 years and the bulk of them I was working almost entirely alone on the translation. Initially there was a small team that spawned this project which included only editors and one programmer. The bulk of the text extraction / reinsertion programming was done by Rem who I haven't seen after the first 2 years and did a marvellous job of extracting codes from text and reinserting things back in place. After that I altered his software to do proper line splitting and adjust for text/screen width changes. After Rem left I was pretty much alone for the next 6 years while I slowly chipped away at the translation for fun and language practice as my Japanese improved. A few difficult live events ended up making this project stall completely for 2 years in the middle. Nonetheless I always planned to complete it even if it had to be alone. Introduction to the fuwa community rekindled my enthusiasm for the project and from it I was able to recruit extra staff for editing, proofreading and graphic editing/decensoring. This was unashamedly my first ever translation attempt. When I started out on this translation project my Japanese was not very strong, so the translation was initially very rough in places. As it has been hard to get any help translating this for various reasons, I was basically left doing it all myself. Since I have gone to the effort of trying to translate this 97,000 line monster project myself, could you please limit your comments to constructive criticism only! As it took so long to complete, it also means that the translation improved along each route, and is better with those characters that I translated later. However the lack of translation check does not mean that it's very bad quality. After editing and proofreading I personally did go through the entire game multiple times for QC and wherever I spotted a translation error or inconsistency I would correct them as I went. While this is not as good as a proper translation check, I think the final quality is still quite respectable and most importantly a decent rendition of the original work. My translation style involves a modest degree of localisation while attempting to keep the original language concepts intact, and keeps Japanese honorifics and the occasional Japanese phrase with almost no stand out translation notes - instead I incorporated those into the text. I prefer to see given names first in English translation so I have taken the liberty of doing so, and my language is English throughout - sorry, no American. I am a native English speaker and if some of the text appears unnatural it's from trying to preserve the original literature. Japanese accuracy should be >95% with nuance capturing >85%. If I were to list the things needed to make this professional quality and reach my ideal, I would have loved for there to be an experienced translate checker do a pass over the translation. There is no doubt there are still numerous errors, mostly nuance related, but even though I advertised for help on and off for a decade, the few people who did offer to help were only very short lived. Additionally there are still some menu items that are in Japanese but not critical ones that make it difficult to understand. I also would have liked to have karaoke subtitled the videos and added subs for the final quotes from the heroine in the closing credit videos. The Xrated game is no longer in print, the official website for it is http://leaf.aquaplus.jp/product/th2x/ Amazon Japan and various other online distributors still sell new and second hand copies. A PSP all ages version is still on sale today and the official site is http://aquaplus.jp/psp_th2/index.html Other variants (like DX) are still being released due to the sustained popularity of this game. These even have an extra routes that never existed and the character wasn't in any of the anime. Relevant vndb link: https://vndb.org/v20 Statistics: 2267 unique kanji, 345512 kanji total, 2.9M kana. 50+ hours reading. GAME INTRODUCTION: If you're not familiar with ToHeart2, it's a VN that is over 10 years old now so by today's standards its 600p 4:3 graphics are quite humble. As a visual novel it is extremely dense text wise, with almost 100,000 lines of text (hence why it's taken me so long). It has 9 different heroine routes with 11 different girls and I've been translating each route one by one and I was originally releasing patches as each route was completed. Most of the routes are of the same duration except for one half length one that is unlocked, and story intensity and successfully negotiating the route is very easy. If you're looking for a spoiler free guide to successfully negotiate the game, always choose the heroine you're chasing, and if the heroine is not available, choose her best friend, and always trust in the heroine and rely on your friends. You have the option of inserting your own name into the game when it starts, or use the default included name for Takaaki Kouno. Unless you particularly enjoy the heroine calling you by name, I actually suggest using the default name because the voice actresses speak Takaaki's name but instead leave an unnatural blank pause there which you're meant to think she's speaking to you instead; I guess unless you're listening out for it you may not spot it but I don't like it. As far as the content of the story goes, it's a mostly light hearted high school harem type story with lots of feel good elements and with mostly amusing and fun characters. It is *extremely* light on with the number of H scenes (though they are hard core) with only one major scene per successful route very close to the end of the story - Xrated was created after the original version, and one character (Sasara) was added to this release. Each route has an epilogue after the closing video which may or may not come after the H scenes. It has had a cult following in Japan for over a decade with tons of anime spinoffs and new figurines and merchandise being created even today. The question often gets asked if I'm going to do a non-xrated or psp version of the patch. I'm not planning one. I personally would have been very disappointed to play through such a monster without getting H at the end and it's otherwise the same without 1 or 2 scenes. Additionally, I did NOT enjoy To Heart 2 Another Days which was rated one of the most disappointing sequels of all time and have no interest in working on that now that this is complete. Comments?   17. Figured I'd post this in case another team decides to do this vn. I've been wanting to start this project for a while but have had troubles with extracting and putting the scripts back. Thanks to the help of @binaryfail I now have a solution to that problem and all that's left is to put in effort. Once again thank you binaryfail for all your help. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Anywho, this is just an announcement that I'm starting the project, not a recruitment. While I am certain that I wont drop it I still want to do this by myself for now. Maybe later down the road I'll need some translators and editors but for now, I'm going solo. Plus I don't have 24hr internet atm. But fear not, there are intervals where it'll be up, so if the prologue patch is finished or the 100% patch I will post it. And there is a sort of dlc patch that's for the imouto character that wont be a priority but I will tl that as well. Now for info on the vn. Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to is from the perspective of Haruto who saved Ayano when he jumped out in front of an errant vehicle that was heading for her, but he got hurt in the process. She came to visit him every day while he was in the hospital and they gradually got closer. This vn takes place in the same universe as Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort. As for the name of my "team" I think I'll go with Serenity Translations™ Finally I don't know when I'll be able to make updates but if there are long periods between updates, do not think the tl is dead. Hi, i need people with coding / HEX editing / hacking experiences to solve (many) problems with my English TL Project (Prologue 100% Betatest Patch is out in my Fuwa thread .For testing/fixing bugs purposes only) Basically , i have to use Russian UI patch to solve some problems temporarily (and it works with Prologue translation) .But later on when i edit/translate Gameplay-related Text ( like Skill/building/Character/Unit names ....) i've found out new problems 1/I can't edit/inserting those Gameplay names ,the Russian can do it because they hacked the game files , modified it and add in more .DLL files >> to insert Russian name into hard-coded Aoi engine of SofhouseChara JP dev (if you take a look into RUS InterfacePatch , you can see those modded extra files like rumod.DLL for example) 2/If i'm trying to overwrite my obj.vfs (contains Gameplay-Names) into RUS UI Patched game >>> the game would crash at somepoint no matter what i do . I guess my English translated names are conflicting with RUS names , because when i copy my obj.vfs into Original unpatch JP game ,they displayed normally and not clumping up together/very hard to read like in RUS UI Patched game With RUS UI Patch -Gameplay Text like this JP Original Game-without RUS patch .Gameplay-Text look normal and easy to read like this 3/Prologue text and Dialogue text would become too large and can't fit in message box in-game ,if you are not using RUS Interface Patch (as my temporary fix ) But if using RUS patch ,i can't translate /insert texts relating to gameplay ,like those listed above inside obj.vfs (due to crashing/text hard to read or clumping up together/RUS modded files conflicts with my ENG text) @Gust (Leader of Bunnyblack3 UI Patch TL Project) and @tester( a Russian hacker on VNDB) gave me an advice that i would need a person who have time and hacking/coding skills to mod/creat game files like RUS Team did.These text has been encrypted/ hard-coded into game files,and i need to edits these texts in order to complete UI Patch!!
