Finished Kara no Shoujo 2. Great story and characters and i thought the true end wrapped things up nicely. My only complaints are that the culprit was a bit too easy to figure out and the Yukiko affection wall in the middle of the game was bullshit.

My favorite of the five girls as a character is Michiru, but the one i think has the best chemistry with Yuuji is Sachi.

If we're talking about intro movies in general, i'm going with Divi-Dead (it's great once you know the context) If we're talking about proper openings with songs, i'll probably go with this one from Phantom of Inferno

Playing Himawari The Sunflower and Aries' route might have been the worst introductory route i've ever seen. I'm gonna keep going because the earlier bad endings make it seem like there is more to the plot than meets the eye, but as a self-contained story it was 30 minutes of interesting stuff and nearly 9 hours of insomnia-curing antics. Update: Finished it and i don't see the "kamige" here that everyone else does. Only thing that impressed me in the main story was Aqua's personality making the choices for her route harder. On the other hand, the "Another Episodes" were awesome because they had a lot more intrigue from the sci-fi side and if the whole VN was like that, i would have enjoyed it more.

Which is the choice in a VN that stuck with you the most? For me it's the "superhero" choice from Fate/Stay Night, because i felt like the first two routes built up that choice pretty well.

Do true routes even matter anymore? Nowadays a VN with a little bit of sucess gets a fandisc with after stories for all the routes anyway.

There is no VN that is life-changing to me, but for people that believe that VNs with choices as the only interactivity make for horrible games, i'd recommend Clannad because it's the only VN i've ever seen that has replayability in such a great level (just look at the walkthrough of it on these forums to see the amount of optional stuff) without relying on JRPG gameplay.

As someone that considers VNs a branch within adventure videogames, i like having gameplay. That being said, the gameplay of preference to me is tons of choice-making like in a choose-your-own-adventure book, rather than RPG gameplay.

I'd actually make the case that it's not a good entry level VN, because the twists are not as enjoyable if you're not used to average romance VNs. Definitely agree that it doen't matter as long as more people are drawn to the genre, though.

If you liked Baldr Sky, you could maybe try Baldr Force? I hear it's at least on par with Baldr Sky.

I'd recommend Girl's Side 3rd because that one has threesome endings. Also, is Arcana Famiglia any good? The art style looked interesting.

Which do you think were the most notable VNs released this year (not talking about translations and such) that barely got any discussion here, if at all? Hoping to get feedback specially from japanese-reading people. I have only read two VNs released this year, but one i didn't think got any buzz was The Last Birdling. Story was a bit cliched, but it was well executed and the way choices worked in it was pretty beginner-friendly, making it a really good entry-level VN. However, all it got was a few youtube and blog reviews and that's it.

I don't know why, but the artwork just doesn't feel like Key to me. I guess i got too used to the utterly gigantic eyes.

From the ones i've played in your "considering" list: Narcissu is great. Fata Morgana, Higurashi and Umineko are amazing. Hoshizora no Memoria was okay.

Going through Funbag Fantasy and i'm surprised at how much i'm liking it. The art is good all-around and the story is simple but fun.

I'm pretty sure it was a different girl each game (having a girl with the same body type or character archetype every time would get boring).

Does anyone know of a good outlet to see updates on the translation of the main quest chapters? Might try it out when all of the 1.0 campaign is out on North America.

Get the one with PS3 sprites.

It's kinda of an alternative for VNDB that doesn't have the translation gap skewing ratings because it's a japanese site.
