  1. Huh. I forgot to post about it, but I finished Hate Plus. What can I say, @Mr Poltroon was right. That's hella good. Better than the first game. It was interesting how screwed-up things that led to the first game were. Also played the two LoveKami games on Steam.

  2. With my limited knowledge of Japanese, I might not be giving an accurate answer. I typed katagiri and used a couple suggestions from IME to fill in the kanji in Jisho. This is what I got. https://jisho.org/search/片桐 https://jisho.org/search/片切 Someone might be able to give a better answer, though.

  3. No, you don't need to buy a new computer lol. Ever heard of PC-98 emulators? There's also emulators for FM Towns, MS-DOS... And like @Dergonu said, if you want to play Windows 95/98/2000/XP games, you'll probably want to play them under a VM. I've even had to emulate W7 under W10 before (mostly Mink games). That said, there are extremely rare cases where you need native OS to actually be able to play the game...and even rarer, the actual machine. I have a friend who actually bought an old Japanese computer (not sure which) just to play one game... Well, it also makes for a nice antique to have around the house. You can try checking the company's page to see if they're still selling it, perhaps as a digital release.. If not, they are effectively abandonware and I'd call that a gray area...but this is not the right place to ask for illegal downloads. Like the others said, try and look for used copies, but good luck with that.

  4. I think they're both worth giving a try. If your main gripe is the game assets itself (from what I'm assuming via NVL writing style and backgrounds), there's a mod out there made by fans that transfers the PS3 assets to the Steam game to essentially port the PS3 game experience. It's by 07th mod, and they're really easy to look up. Just type 07th mod, and their homepage should come up. That's why I follow up this recommendation too. Holding off on reading both though until CH8 is out for Steam.

    Hi there

Hahaha! Awesome! You are the first one who recognised my avatar. Absolutely love Rozen Maiden.

  6. Considering that the VN everyone is saying has the same twist has been described as a shittier knockoff version of Totono, I'd encourage anyone who likes the idea to still give this one a shot. Take my words with a grain of salt though; I haven't played it. Personally, I found ~the twist~ of ~that other game~ to be disappointingly executed, and considering that denpa is my favorite genre, I'm pretty hype for Totono.

  7. If you want to buy old eroge from the 90s, Japanese Amazon is a good place to start. People usually sell used versions on there. Getting digital versions of old games can prove difficult, as many companies either never got around to making them, or went under before they could. (Like Zone.) You will need a virtual machine of an old OS, or a computer running an old OS in order to play them, usually. A handful will be able to run on W10 with the right compatibility settings, but it’s rare.

  8. Whilst not download and play on your windows, Jast allows you to play its classic games in a browser for free https://jastusa.com/classic-game-archive/ Asenheim has heaps more also web based. https://tss.asenheim.org/

  9. I recommend read Umineko first because it's finished, meanwhile Higurashi ch 7 isn't released yet (Mangagamer ver.) and ch 8 is in progress, maybe 2020? btw I'm talking about the 07th mod patch ^^ The translation itself is finished but for better experience read with the patches. Both series are very good in mystery and fantasy.

  10. Well, I can really say I played that many VNs I would describe as calming, but I'm currently reading Katahane, and so far I feel like it fits your requirements. The first arc is a rather lighthearted story set in a fantasy world about a group of friends traveling around their world and preparing for a theater play. On the other hand, I heard that the second arc is more dramatic, and this VN is classified as a nakige, so it is probably not the best recommendation. Overall, I think, other people might give you better recommendations. I recommend starting a new thread in the "Recommendations" forum.

  11. Yeah, definitely. I tried to rely of the text parser rather than on MTL, and the result I got was just barely understandable, and probably only because the original text was rather simple. And even text parsers made a lot of mistakes. Honestly, this method just isn't worth it in most cases. Admittedly, the results MTL produced there were rather comedic at times.

  12. There has been a new windows 10 update rolled out recently, that might have been the cause (I haven't yet updated). Other than that, have you changed any configurations or customized the program before? Meanwhile, you could try using Translator Aggregator with JParser, it gives a similar experience to Chiitrans for the Furigana. It also has access to translation service sites like google and bing and several others. I'll try updating Windows later and let you know if it was the update which caused it to stop working.

  13. Greetings everyone, New free music is ready for you here: On my Fantasy 8 page: “THE BOG OF DESPAIR” https://soundimage.org/fantasy-8/ On my Fantasy 9 page: “CHILLY WHISPERS” https://soundimage.org/fantasy-9/ And on my Sci-Fi 8 page: “A DESERT ON A DISTANT WORLD” https://soundimage.org/sci-fi-8/ 100% free to use with attribution. **If you find my music helpful, please consider making a donation to my website. The synthesizers I use to create the music and sounds that I share with everyone are very expensive…so expensive, in fact, that I have to make monthly payments on them…and donations really help me a lot to pay for them. Thanks in advance…and please feel free to share your projects…I love to see how creative people are using my work!

  14. I made a Google spreadsheet to compile compatibility information for Windows 10 all in one place. Anyone can edit, so please update it as new VNs are tested. Google spreadsheet link If a better resource emerges, let me know and I'll update this thread with a link to that instead.

  15. You could put those Japanese skills you have to the test with it. Hino's only like one of 8 writers on it, so no biggie.

  16. They are also responsible for all of these so-called "DMM gacha games", such as Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena which is one of them. Here is a good video on what gacha is (spoilers: it's about gambling real money in the hope of getting the intangible items/characters/etc that you are aiming for): Here is a review of Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena: https://www.bitchute.com/video/2W04rFFUnKEl/
