Well its nothing new that there a plenty of the japanese companies that give a flying fuck about feedback from outside and this kickstarter/prefundia is a prime example of this attitude.

Well I'm back from that and have to give away a little secret. While I was translating Tsubame's route I fell for Izumi so decided I would play her route last (since I always save my favourite for last). After playing all the routes, they were all great but Izumi's was as awesome as I was hoping. So for my next magic trick, I'll be translating Izumi's route too.
EDIT: This means I'll be replacing the other translator who volunteered for Izumi's route but has disappeared without doing any of it.

    Dracu-Riot! Completion Project
    Project Info:
As i said in a previous post, if the Dracu-Riot scripts were released, I will translate Miu's route, and that's exactly what I'm announcing in this thread.
But I'm not alone in this crusade, I've partnered with the wonderful people at The Oxford Comma is Superior Subs so we can deliver the best possible final product and lay the Dracu-Riot memes to rest. We also got several people from the Fuwanovel community to help speed up things even more.
How is the project going to go down, you ask. Well you can read this post if you want detailed info, but the tl;dr version is that we are aiming to release multiple patches.
The first patch aims to translate the remainder of Miu's route as well as any remaining untranslated content (images, menus, etc.) with complete editing to polish the current patch.
We are going to try and release this in about 2 months, if everything goes according to plan.
The second patch is meant to be more heavily translation checked as that's when Fiddle has enough free time to go over the whole game.
There is no ETA for this second patch.
This doesn't mean the first patch will be terrible, we will of course strive for a good product, but we would still like to inform you of our schedule. If we waited for Fiddle to be completely free, it would take much more time to release Miu's route, and so we've decided to do it this way.
I hope you look forward to future updates.
    FAQ:
Why not just make a Miu partial patch, why do you want to go over the whole game?
There are actually 3 main reasons for this:
The first and biggest one is that Insem's patch only works with the physical version of Dracu-Riot! which is very hard to get in the West and we want to make a new patch that works on both the physical and digital versions of the game, this way people can purchase the digital version and patch it, thus supporting Yuzusoft. The second one is that we want to americanize the writing style as well as make sure everything is edited properly, because Insem didn't have time to finish the whole thing. The last one is translation checking. Although we don't doubt Insem's abilities, we really want to try and make sure the translation is accurate. We also want to include translation notes in the game. Only 2 months? That seems way too fast.
2 months is indeed fast, if we were translating the entire game, but we're actually only translating about 4,000 lines and we're splitting those lines between two main translators, this will hopefully make that 2 month deadline possible.
Please do note we will not jeopardize translation quality for the sake of reaching the deadline. If we can not make it in time, we will delay the release until we're satisfied with the end result.
    Will the translation have memes?
Yes, but only the dankest ones.
Why aren't The Oxford Comma people making the announcement here?
So I can get those sweet, sweet internet points.
    I want to help!
Contact @Fiddle and beat him in a pipe bag showdown (plaid skirt is mandatory).

It's okay everyone, if Insem trolls the entire world again we can all rest assured knowing that a quality TL formed out of pure hate for selling the game to Sekai Project without any form of Atlas/Google translate will be released for Aokana on April 20th in 5 (that's right 5!) different languages. That's faster than any professionally hired translator I have ever seen in my entire life, let alone a translator of 5 different languages. What an incredible team! :')

If he releases the scripts and they're actually all translated minus Miu's route, I swear I'll temporarily drop my project and translate it just so we can put an end to this meme. Though if this happens I'm sure there'll be many people doing the same thing, in which case fuck that.

Ok, I'm back in the land of the living after a very late night. So a few comments:
Seriously, there were a lot of people chuckling at me about the Maitetsu question. I saw the lolis and kind of knew what I was signing up for, but I wasn't quite aware of the extent of the H content and quite how young the characters looked. Anyway, I actually just tweeted at dovac about that question and got an interesting response: "We had internal discussions about this, but just can't talk about it at this time." This is very much in line with how I interpret their response last night: it wasn't a denial, or even a hinted denial, of any kind of 18+ release. It was an extremely neutral question dodge. I really don't know what to expect - if it were already decided to be something as simple as "there will be no H content", I don't think they would be responding the way they are. My guess is that it's still an in-progress discussion, both with the developer and internally, trying to figure out what kind of balance they should tread to maintain their reputation with all camps and to make the release have the maximum positive impact. None of us is in a position to predict the future here - let's wait and see what happens. Regardless, I actually don't care - I almost certainly will play Maitetsu, because the idea is cute, the art looks freaking gorgeous, and I have no problem with the occasional moege (I seriously love IMHHW, censorship, bad translation, and all). And when I do play Maitetsu, you can bet I'm going to play that censored Steam release. I don't know why people are talking about Kickstarters WRT the SP announcements. They said absolutely nothing about it at SakuraCon, and I don't think they said anything about Kickstarter at Anime Boston either. Each time they announce something is going through Kickstarter, it's been announced as having a Kickstarter from the beginning, right? I think there's clearly not going to be one for any of this stuff. Will SP get a little less incomprehensible hate about Kickstarter after this? Probably not. I am pretty hyped about Ley Line. It's good to see SP had another solid announcement up their sleeve for Boston and didn't dump everything at SakuraCon. I'm actually really happy about the recent pattern of fan translation projects turning into officially-licensed releases. Fan translators deserve compensation for their work, and as a significant and growing group of fans, we deserve to be taken seriously by the original developers and publishers. This new trend, and the very clear rapid growth of the US VN-reading market over the last couple years, are very positive signs. MangaGamer, I am disappoint. But you're releasing Tokyo Babel in the next week, so you know what, actually we're totally square. I have a fair bit of faith in their recent product decisions, so I'm sure they'll come back swinging next time.

Well, you clearly don't know Ren's sordid history with the mods here if you think that, bigfatround. Because he is definitely not their favorite, lol.
So, since I'm here anyways, I guess I'll weigh in. The way I see things, there are aspects of the story that are suspicious, and there are parts where it would make absolutely no sense for him to make up. The suspicious elements are obvious. What doesn't make sense to me is that after he issued an excuse for the delay a couple months ago, why wouldn't he just stay silent if he actually had nothing at all? Why would he go public with this really damning story just to get what would obviously be huge amounts of flak? I've talked to Ren in private, and I've known about this for a month or so now, he was really afraid of telling everyone about the missing files because of the backlash. Eventually he did anyways. If it was all a complete fabrication, why would he go through with that? It doesn't really make sense to me.
I also don't understand how the files got deleted anyways, but from what I heard, he actually is the type who would empty virtual recycling bins for no good reason (he would ask mods to completely delete the entire archived existence of some of his deleted threads/posts, even if him and no one else could ever see them...). Still, google support couldn't restore it? No one else has backups? It's all very strange. So, to be 100% honest, I don't exactly know what to believe. What I do know is that I don't really care. I truly don't. I don't see how digging deeper into that will help anything, except titillating those who get off on the schadenfreude.
What interests me most is if the community can still come together and produce a fan translation for this. I've grown pessimistic about fan translations lately, honestly. Every time I see a new project, I reflexively think  "I hope it does well, but I'm not expecting much." So to be frank, if Ren wants to recruit a new translator and start over from scratch again, he has a very difficult journey ahead of him and the odds are viciously stacked against him. Despite all that has happened, I really hope it goes well for him, but man, it seems rough. Then there's the other translation group. They're real, and they started for really dubious reasons. I'm just as, if not more skeptical of their prospects. Basically, the project leader thought Ren was selling out to Sekai Project and vowed, purely out of spite, to release a complete patch in September, one month earlier than Ren's projected date of October. If you start a project with that kind of motivation, how likely is it that you'll actually get anything noteworthy done? Still, all the same, even if it's from them, I hope they're somehow able to produce a good quality translation.
If the two groups could miraculously come together and actually produce something of worth, hey, wouldn't that be great? If they fail, then everyone loses.
