I'll clear my mind the way Master Yoda preaches. Maybe that way I can spot the minute (yet obviously very important) differences between the two

I don't get the hype for the art in Nekopara. I also don't see a noticeable difference in quality between the art of Sayori and the art in Corona Blossom To me they look virtually identical; both by-the-numbers, cutesy, anime inspired artstyles. Personally I think they're significantly worse than the art in Stein's Gate. I really, really don't get the Sayori hype. If I were to buy a book or a novel or a piece of media to support an artist, I'd buy the books by Victoria Frances because gothic FTW

Libra of the Vampire Princess - Releasing May 16th, 2017

Anybody starting out in writing or translation should read this VN. They can regard it as a long and arduous lesson on what not to do when writing something in English. -
Why does this blog entry remind me of Monty Python

Yes, the bolded part is important. A person really needs to consider the purpose of a material. Places where it can unquestionably be used (imo) are technical documents and programming manuals, because the purpose of this sort of document is to impart information to the reader and a word doesn’t have to sound nice, it just has to deliver information. The purpose of genre fiction is to absorb the reader into a world and for this reason it’s often recommended to use ‘entered’ instead. The words mean the same thing and people don't scrunch their noses up at it (scrunching your nose at a text book is expected though, so if I were writing a textbook I'd use it as often as I could ) For genre fiction you often don’t want to jar a person out of a story to question your prose. But whatever, I would have thought this would be a fair ways down on the list of priorities to fiddle with TBH *shrugs*

Game of thrones seasons 1-6 discussion

I wonder what the quality of the TV series is like now that they've passed the books and don't have detailed source material to work from. Sure Martin is working with them, but that wouldn't compensate ... -

I bet if Fate/Stay had been semi-decently written in English he wouldn't find it boring

Taisho Alice Localization Fiasco
Darklord Rooke replied to Daydreamer97's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Haven't played the game but it looks as though both versions of the name are supposed to be pronounced the same yet spelt differently(?) If this is indeed the case, either Alyse or Alyce would be better, as they are both pronounced the same as Alice. -

Do you listen to VN's Background Music or Mute it?
Darklord Rooke replied to Thatcomicguy's topic in General Discussion
I often play VNs without the sound. That's no music AND no voices. I'll probably do the same for Hapymaher. I wonder how badly[1] Clephas will want to crucify me? Good thing there's no scale for 'degree of crucification' - 1 being 'lightly crucified' and 10 being 'whoa momma!' -

'Lout' isn't slang. If you look it up in the Merriam Webster (the dictionary Yanks like to use) you'll see they regard it as a normal noun. Words they regard as slang are marked as such. The usage of 'lout' doesn't seem to have decreased much over time either. If you consider it to be slang, you'd have to consider words like 'boor' to be slang also. Lot also isn't slang, it's quite 'proper' (at least as much as 'folk' is.) I also prefer 'you lot' to 'you guys' (which has gender problems these days) or 'you folks' which just sounds like you're trying to hard. Actually you don't hear 'folk' as much outside of America, so if you're trying to find more geographically neutral language then I'd stay away from 'folk'. I should also point out that I live in Australia and both 'lout' and 'lot' are common. Same in NZ. Although I prefer all 3 over the dreadful 'youse' ... thank you muchly whoever did that. I'm betting it was those descended from the Latin languages >:c At the end of the day, all of these suggestions (lot, guys, people, folks, ... youse) are just ways to pluralise 'you'. There are tons of them and I don't regard one as better or more proper than the others (even though I regard one as worse than the rest.) Not slang, just a worldwide language phenomenon where people try to correct what they see as a deficiency in the word 'you' (no second-person plural.)

That's a pretty compelling argument by Moogy :3 ... just sayin'

So long Dreamysyu, it was nice having you around *waves*.

'Lout' and 'lot' are proper English words.

Weirdly enough, considering America’s love of all things ‘R’, I thought they would have preferred the more ‘R’ish ‘arse’ over ‘ass’ xD Whoever wrote this can bullshit with the best of them
