H-Scenes. Really necessary?

The thing is that that from my experience virgins and teens are the ones who must like H-scenes to begin with and who most defend them while older people are usually against them.

In that case, I can utterly recomend you some animes that you may like:

 

- Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls  and the second season.

 

- B gata H kei

 

- and the best of the best: Senran Kagura

 

I watched both Hyakka Ryouran season and I liked them very much, I also watched Senran Kagura and I liked it too true, I did that it could be better if they added some romance to it (I am unitrested in sex, but I love romance), as for B Gata H Kei it doesn't sound like it has much to offer except ecchi but depending on the characters and comedy it might still be good I might give it a shoot in a future.

You do realize that we don't talk about sex itself here, but rather principles of should there be sex scenes in VNs or not.

Oh I like this thread!

Personally, I like H-scenes only when:

- I Like the characters.

- The story is good enough.

- I want to see how the heroines would behave in an H-scene (this doesn't mean all of them; it could be one, all, or even none).

- I want to have a solid "proof" of the relationship between the MC and the heroine (this is only in special cases, few visual novels).

 

I tend to skip H-scenes if not even one of the above options are meet, though.

Other thing is, I don't really mind the H-scene when it's consensual and between the Mc and the heroine/s only, as I avoid gangbang, rape, tentacles, and all that stuff; but, when the H-scene is waaaaay too generic, I don't even think twice about skipping D:

Weird thing is that, for some reason, if the VN had H-scenes but were removed, I lack the enthusiasm to play it, even if I'll be skipping them all. Weird, huh? D;

Well i feel almost the same, i mean IF you have to put H-scenes you have to do them well..

And i have something to say about this, it's pretty obvious (especially about teens) that they enjoy H-scenes more than mature people, but i think that many of them are enjoyable also as an adult, both in a light context (as "just sex") or in a love-romance context story.

I want to talk a little about rape scenes which are part of the Hentai graphics in a Visual Novels.

These make me incredibly unconfortable and very often isn't justified.

 

I don't personnally find it relevant expect if it amplifies the negative emotions that some VN's revolve around such a in Saya no Uta.

In swan song for example, such scenes were disputable.

But when they try to make these scenes exciting/stimulating, I just don't get it.

I mean it's a rape even if it's not a real one, try your hardest with nudity and showing everything you can I'm only going to be disgusted.

Those kind of scenes enters into the fetish zone, which has been present on humans since ancient times. There are people that find then exciting and they are there for that. Truly, an scene to just service the reader.

 

As people say here, for tastes, colours! you can like then or not like then. But, aren't those kind of scenes tagged in vndbs? You should come prepared if you know they may appear.

 

Though, I must agree that the reasons for then to be there are questionable plot-wise most of the times.

You misunderstood me, I never said only teenagers, I said that there are more teenagers than grown up people who like H-scenes while more mature people dislike them than teenagers.

Everything else that I said about action movies applies to anime too, if any non-hentai popular anime had hentai scenes in it it would be a disaster, there is some ecchi anime that have nudity and there is some anime where protagonist have sex with herione but they don't have the actual porn/hentai scenes in them just show you enough to get a point. But when it comes to VNs there are nukige and all-agesVN (when I say all-ages I mean on all VNs widouth H-scenes not just actuall all-ages ones) but there is also mix of two eroges. So same as in other mediums those who want porn can go and read nukige those who want story can go and read all-ages VN but the difference then in other mediums is that there is also eroges that have both good story, plot and porn in them. So my point in comparing action movies, anime and VNs is that saying that H-scenes are necessary is the same as if you said that Hollywood movies like harry potter, lord of the rings etc. should have porn scenes in them or that animes like Naruto, Bleach, Shingeki no kyojin, SAO, should have them too. Back to the subject I'd say a good example of H-scenes being used nicely was Inganock. There, it felt like they had some meaning and they helped to push the conflicts forward and keep the plot going.

That's exactly why eroge is great, you don't really have it in any other for of media. You either fap or you have story.

 

And this is where eroge comes in, you can enjoy some school romance, awesome heartwarming stories and tearjerking events and without a need to use another content, you can also have some satisfying sex scenes with the character you became to love through the story and romancing - which makes it closer to the ideal life experience.

Even in real life you don't want to go on a date with a girl and then ditch her and go have sex with a prostitute to "just" satisfy your needs - you'd rather if you do it with the girl you spent the last few days with and with the emotional impact the experience is much stronger. And same way it works in VNs, you spend some time with the girls and you don't want to go read nukige or H-manga just to get satisfied, you want to have the emotional relationship make your sexual experience even better.

And for people who gave up on real life its the only way to have that kind of sexual experience influenced by real emotions that you built in the game.

Eroge don't have the same censorship as other media which is why it gets through. Western media will push the envelope a bit but the censorship is still pretty tight when it comes to sex. Violence... Well go ahead and show whatever the f you want.

Eroge's popularity is plummeting in Japan, and they receive bugger all sales. Their biggest target demographic are young college males. Hollywood usually try and target as wide an audience as humanly possible with their movies, and it's the same philosophy with the game industry. Even if sex scenes were an acceptable thing to employ, it'd be a very niche genre at best, because in the vast majority of cases, it's bad storytelling technique.

Well me i like short h scenes , too long h scenes are not really for me , sometimes i skip them , sometimes i read them .

 

But i think that some VN need h scenes , for start all vn with a perverted protagonist need it , If there wasn't h scene in rance series it'll definitely feel wrong ( h scenes in Rance are usually short so it's good for me ) . Or let's take Bunny Black series , if there wasn't h scene , the story itself will need to be changed. 

 

For romance type , if there are well placed , it's good , it's like a spice. They are not always needed but i think i still want them.

 

And for VN with Yandere,i think that H scene are needed. Even more when the girl hear you or see you have sex with another woman .

 

I like the fact that there is H scene in VN . Even if i sometimes  don't read them , i still want them . 

 

Ah yes , let's take Hoshizora no Memoria , at first i thought i'm not a lolicon , i just liked Monshiro in Majikoi S and she just happened to have a little girl body. But with Mare , i couldn't argue about the fact the i was a lolicon (but i think this is just for long hair girls).

 

The girl i like just happened to be a little girl !    

 

So for Mare route , the first patch i used gave me an awesome picture of dolphins instead of Mare h scene , i needed to download again the whole game just for see her h scene.
