FinalChaos Posted November 12, 2014 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Well there are some references to Chaos;HEaD in Steins;Gate (sometimes subtle, sometimes a little more obvious) and this 2 VNs are excellent (even if my favourite is Steins;Gate, since i'm part of the cast) and oh please, even if the Steins;Gate anime is great, read the VN, it's still better. I plan to do both, read the vn and watch the anime of Steins;Gate. Just wanted to know which one I should do first. Reading the vn first is recommended or watching the anime ? Wahfuu Posted November 12, 2014 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Finished Koyori's route in RuiTomo. The bit of drama at the beginning was pretty rough, but I've really enjoyed the rest a lot. Probably the best route so far - although it's kind of unfair to rate them in a VN with a structure where each route gives you a bit more info on the overall plot. Not sure if this is such a good choice-- but it is an interesting change from the usual formula. Koyori's route is where I think the game really picks up as far as the main themes start to go. I kinda think Koyori's sister is basically a huge representation of what it means to 'grow up' in society and pursue success. She weighs things only in pro vs con, and has become numb to warmth. Shes successful to the point where many would be jealous of her, but shes given up everything about her that makes her a person. Shes grown up and become a robot. Probably the same thing with Miyake, too! I talked with a couple others who've played this, and he really seems like hes just a manifestation of society's worst. Hes an extremely hateful person who looks to just exploit everything around him. Scum to the core. Anyways, Iyos route and Akanekos route take HUGE leaps upwards (Akaneko's route is <3 as far as themes go) so I hope you enjoy the ride. Anyway, I loved that intr and the music. Felt like reading something different, so I picked up SubaHibi pretty much on impulse - although I was meaning to read it for quite some time. Please tell me the jp difficulty if you read a decent bit of it. I really want to read that one but it might be a bit too hard for me still. Hahaha... ouch. Since you finished the whole VN, how was the second episode? Any better than the first? It started of in a way that could lead to potentially good endings.. but after reading for an hour I predicted the ending: "omg theyre not really going to do this are they.., are they??" then I read the ending and..."wow they actually did it" "WOW and now they actually made it even worse lmao". That 3rd route in secret game should be pretty damn good to be able to make up for the second route, but I won't see it happening tbh. I was tempted to read the last route of secret game for fun, but I'll save that for later, theres too many other nice things to read! Went with something with gameplay to introduce him to VNs, though I'm not sure if the story is at all worth anyone's time. The intro was pretty interesting and reminded us of Breath of Fire IV, but that was all thrown out the window after the prologue. Will the porn be awkward with two 25 year old men in the room? Yes. I am honestly curious for the other routes now though this VN had potential, I want to know if they'll do something with it or just fail even harder. To be honest, I feel a bit cheated. She was so close to be my new waifu. So close. I would've read further regardless, since I learned to only drop novels, which hurt my intelligence, not feelings. The only thing bad about the game is that some of the h-scenes and vore scenes are odd to watch. I am also reading the UBW route of Fate Stay Night and it is really interesting. I got a lot more interested in it at the end, as thing got a lot more serious, and characters that had previously not interested me showed interesting aspects of themselves. On to Hisoka's route. Hopefully it'll take my attention more rapidly than Benio's route did. EDIT: Yeah...I don't think I'm going to have a problem finishing Hisoka's route. Couldn't stand it, got to the point where I started getting grumpy just reading it because of how much of a chore it was to go through for me. Some of the sprites/art look like they were drawn by some random guy in Microsoft Paint, but most of the others look amazing, so don't let that ruin it for you. I also don't really enjoy nukiges that much, so that was pretty much it for me. I really did enjoy MGQ and would definitely disagree with you. It never felt like a chore and is a rare nukige which I actually enjoyed. And as TexasDice said the quality keeps increasing over time. I actually liked the story and the characters were more than a little origional. Would not change much for me if they made an all ages version. Considering people who liked the infinity series tend to think Never7 is the worst, and that you can't even enjoy Alternative, somehow, I'm not too sure that's a good idea.
