    The title is literally "Looking up at the clouds high in the sky".  It's supposed to symbolize Mint's growth during the course of their journey.  The English title attempts a literal translation of that and fails horribly.
    I'd probably go with the title "To Raise a Dragon Girl".  That more or less captures the theme of the first half of the game without being overly verbose or obtuse.

    That's not an unlikely scenario.  Their games hardly get any votes on EGS.
     
    I expect characters in a game written for adults to not mirror Disney tropes.

    To be fair, Debonosu's track record is having promotional materials that are more poorly translated than the game itself.  My guess is that they hire a translator for the game script and have some random person on their JP staff do the promotional materials.
    But those screenshots are nothing.  Feast your eyes (and ears!) on this:

    The H-scenes in this game felt very much like slapped-in extra scenarios shoehorned in at opportune moments.  They were literally fetish material.  The ero element formed an important part of the setting in Kagura Douchuuki, but in this game it's more or less just a plot device.
    The entire game has a very fake, cartoony feel to it.  Every character, including loli Mint and her adult variants, more or less personifies a trope.  Even by Debonosu standards the writing is pretty weak.  It's a shame because the gameplay isn't bad at all.
    I never made it past the second H-scene with adult Mint, so maybe it gets better.   I kind of doubt it though.

    This game is now up on Steam Greenlight.
    The Greenlight page is less of a mess than Kagura Douchuuki's was, but the text is still obviously written by a non-native speaker.  It manages to be understandable at least, but we're still talking worse than the Flowers demo here.
    Unlike Kagura Douchuuki, this is a game that actually has merit without its H-content--indeed, the H-content in the original felt kind of out of place.  The battle system resembles the one in Tales games, and it's probably the best system of any Debonosu game I've tried.  The story is the standard cliche garbage with dimwitted villains that you'd find in a 1990's SNES JRPG, with some moe scenes added in.
    Overall, I could vaguely recommend this game to fans of VN-RPGs, even without the ero-content.  That is, if Debonosu actually hired a translator that could write proper English at least.  Going by EGS scores and my gut intuition, it's probably the best game in Debonosu's lineup (excluding Izumo 4, which I haven't evaluated).

    The quality and variety of sprites will probably matter more than the number of CG in this sort of game.  Reserve full CG for climactic points that you want to highlight.
    But I suspect your question is actually about the game's presentation on your store page.  CG make for good promotional images.  Your Steam page is definitely suffering from a shortage of high-quality screenshots--you even included a fairly non-descript title screen!  Text screenshots can be ok, but the re-use of the same background in all such images gives a cheap/bland feel and evokes a scope that is suffocatingly claustrophobic (are we really going to be talking to the demon on a single static background the whole game???).  Right now the most evocative screenshot is probably the one of the puzzle gameplay.
    You need variety and movement in the artwork (sprites, background, CG), in the game also but especially in the screenshots.  Even if the game takes place entirely within one room, you'll need multiple backgrounds and perhaps versions of those backgrounds.  If your focus is on horror, simple filters over the backgrounds (blur, change in color, etc.) at appropriate moments could add a lot to the atmosphere (really key in the horror genre) without running up costs.  And if push comes to shove, generative AI is always an option for increasing variety at low cost--it seems to be pretty decent at backgrounds.
    In short, by making good use of sprites and backgrounds, you'll actually reduce your dependence on expensive CG to create movement and immersion.
    I suppose I should give a brief nod to what I like too.  The character artwork is appealing and the single background you've shown is adequate for the task.  The quality is there, you just need sufficient quantity.  The screenshots show multiple high-quality sprite poses, which leaves a favorable impression, though showcasing changes in facial expression would further increase appeal.

    In general the AI/ML systems require a lot of processing power, and cannot easily parameterised -- do you want to keep honourifics or transform them, set the gender of names, change definitions of words, etc. It requires whole new model retrained every time. The advantage is it is simple to implement and not dependent on language, only need set of matching phrases to train on and enough processing power - implementer do not even need to know either language! Output is based on training data so it can be very close. But it is not easy to modify the model after training to suit specific application. Hence entire specialised models needed e.g. DeepL, Google (general text) Sugoi (JP VNTL only), etc. Also the "hallucination" phenomenon can cause outputs look very correct when incorrect in absence of training data.
    Unfortunately syntax-parsing MT has dropped in popularity due to AI hype, although it is very easy to modify and parameterise to adapt to any application. However it requires one know both languages in order to implement and adjust the parsing/transformation rules, but once set up right, so it can give highly accurate 1:1 correspondence translation at high speed with very low processing power. In addition, when the algorithm fails to parse or find appropriate rule to apply, the output will become wrong or left untranslated in a very obvious way.

    I'd recommend Sugoi Translator with the updated model installed.  It runs locally, with output as good as or better than DeepL.  You can read my more detailed write-up on the tool here.

    I'm playing Yakuza 0 (on Steam) and there's literally a side-story where a ring of high school girls (led by a bully) are selling their used underwear.  There's another side-story where an elementary schooler solicits the adult main character to be his girlfriend, and says she'll "give him her precious thing".  And yet another where some punks try to sell a mother and her elementary-school child into prostitution.  So, uh, yeah.
    Keep in mind: Sony NA is giving some of these titles a pass, while Valve isn't.  So yes, Valve being stricter than Sony--while simultaneously carrying actual porn--is headline-worthy.

    No, they're not consistent.  If they were, they wouldn't have let Persona 4 onto Steam; it ambiguously implies MC-kun has sex with his girlfriend(s) if you max her (their) S-links.  And they would have updated their "we will allow anything that isn't trolling or illegal" statement to clarify what else they will ban for, since clearly that is not true.
    Instead, they have attempted to reap the benefits of appealing to the no-censorship absolutist crowd by claiming anything goes, when it's not actually true.  They have Standards & Practices (just like every other publisher in existence), they're just lying about it.  They'd get flak. First, for merely openly saying they have S&P, the anti-censorship crowd would get all up in arms.  Second, the particular standards they have chosen are pretty hilariously inept to boot.  They would bar a video game adaptation of Romeo and Juliet or the Bible, in a society where American Pie makes a quarter billion dollars.
    They want to have their cake and eat it too.  They've refused a handful of Western developed games too, like that Pickup Artist "game".  Their public "statements" attempting to "justify" their actions, in light of them pretty obviously doing something they made a commitment not to do, are nonsense.  They want the benefits of censoring things that might hurt their image, and the benefits of taking an absolutist no-censorship stance.  So they have chosen to be dishonest.

    I believe they eventually (but it took a while) released a patch that freed the shota, but it was a pretty high level move indeed...

    Generally same opinion as sanah. To add is that they tend to hire translation agencies (to keep up with how much DMM japan side demands they push out? maybe), which makes them unable to credit the translators often (besides the usual bad quality a translation agency offers). When they can credit, they do, however.

    After searching far and wide in the forum and being unable to find a post on Venus Blood Gaia Localization Project, I just decided to make my own. So apparently the third (or fourth?) kickstarter project by the famed eroge company @Ninetail has been announced, went through its funding phase with high success and will end today. The game is basically another of the Venus Blood Eroge, that have already met big success in the west before hand and still have a multitude of titles that are yet to be localized. So far there have been localized "Venus Blood Frontier", "Venus Blood HOLLOW" (which was originally Hypno) and now Venus Blood Gaia.

    Here is the kicker. Unfortunately, I'm too stupid for these games. I tried Venus Blood Frontier Intl with the base tutorial and I never got along with the mechanics and succumbed to the damage taken when using a night unit in broad daylight and vice versa. Unfortunately S-RPGs that are more complicated than Kamidori or Eiyu Senki GOLD seem simply not be made for me. But there are surely a ton of ppl who love this game series, given the incredible response that each of the kickstarter projects have gotten.

    If you guys are interested in taking a look at this game and read a review that goes indepth into its mechanics before it is released, then I recommend you the old 2015 review by user @sanahtlig. The same applies to other games of the series.

    Greetings, Fuwanovel! 

    Welcome to The Tales of Bayun thread!

    Summary
    It's a visual novel / narrative adventure game with RPG elements set in a grim fantasy world based on eastern european and slavic myths and legends. Still in development by me and Flyin Dogs indie team, aiming for the release till the end of 2022 for Windows and MacOS. 

    Gameplay
    The core gameplay is like the most of VNs: choosing different actions and dialogue options. But we also have stats and inventory management, world exploration through Point and Click elements, additional features like bestiary.

    World
    All the action takes place in the original fantasy world called The Side. Even though we drew inspiration from different folklore pieces, The Side has it's own rules and stories, there is place for all kind of things: love and hatred, joy and sadness, poverty and wealth, life and... death. It is the place where you will meet many different characters, including some supernatural creatures and our beloved Bayun the Cat. None of them are good or evil, they simply have their own feelings, ideas, fears and ways of living. Happiness of one character can easily become a death sentence for another. Choose wisely, but don't forget that the main character has his own goals! 

    Visuals
    Characters, backgrounds and all other items have been created from the scratch. The main idea was to create authentic and dark art that will catch the spirit of the original fairytales and legends.

    Sound
    There will be more than 20 ambient tracks created specially for The Tales of Bayun, sound effects for different actions (like footsteps, bells ringing, birds singing and etc.). We also plan to record the voice acting for the characters, but still have some doubts about this.

    As it is stated in the title of the thread, we have released a demo version on Steam a couple of days ago. Anyone can take a look and form their own opinion. Keep in mind that the work is still going, demo may have some bugs and lack some features (e.g. voice acting).     For the first time, I tried DeepL.

    English not being my mother language, I first tried it with English-mother language (based on alphabet) : it was astonishing. I can't say it was perfect, but honestly I was impressed.

    I then decided to try it with Japanese (one chapter of a LN to be precise) : and again, I was impressed. The result was far lower in quality than my first attempt, but nonetheless, it was probably the best MTL I've ever seen. Also, note that the chapter I used had only a few dialogues, maybe it would have been a different result with a VN having a lot of them.

    Oh, well, but everything I just said is quite well known I guess... then why do I post this ?

    It's simple : I just wanted to warn the people that use DeepL, be it for VN or anything else. There's a deep flaw going with it : it is too good in a certain sense.

    Too good ? WTH ? Well, DeepL seems to be able to give sense to a sentence most of the time. Yeah, give sense even if the translation fails (partially or completely), and you the reader might not notice because the sentence might even make some sense in the context, just that it has not the sense it is supposed to. While the Google Translation lot would most likely just send you an unintelligible text that would at least warn you of the failure.

    I'm not sure there's a workaround, but I guess one should try, if possible, to use at least two engines in parallel and hoping to get the better of them.
    Note : my level at reading Japanese is quite high when we are speaking of reading VN/LN/Mangas etc. I'm positive I encounter very few passages I'm not correctly understanding and, when this happens, I generally know enough to get that I missed something, allowing me to do a bit of research if I feel like it. I'm not sure how I would fare with true literature for example (a lot less good I presume, but I guess it would depend of the writing). Also, when possible I'm still using a text hooker to help me seek out the few kanjis or words I might not know or remember.

    Easily the best Venus Blood game, story-wise and gameplay-wise.  Not to mention the protagonist and main heroine have an insanely strong personal bond that makes you really root for them, though they are evil.
