Exactly. I think it was Christmas 2 years ago. My little brother was 4 then and he had presents for several days. He couldn't process all the presents from the whole family and relatives so we gave him 3-5 presents each day. That way he could process it and play with one toy at a time.

This is most likely a problem all of us have at some point. I am the same. But I have realized what my problem is. It is that I have too much on my hands. I got too many games, animes and VNs available and I am a human being which functions better if I don't got that many things to choose between. For example I was much better at doing anything when I was limited in what I could watch or play. When I was young and lived at home I was always anticipating Christmas and birthday. Because I would get something new I could immerse myself in for several months without getting anything new. In some rare cases I would get a game on release but I had to beg on my knees for it. But since Steam/Internet and credit cards was implemented in my life I got unlimited access whenever I want. I also learned how to get things the "shady" way which gave me endless possibilities. Just reading summaries of a game/VN or anime could be enough to add it on a backlog. That's a big problem.
You have unlimited access to anything. You got hardrive(s) of games, anime, VNs, movies, TV-series and whatever you may save. That way you don't know what you want because you are content and pleased with what you have and know. You end up playing something familiar because: You are lazy, you can't force yourself to learn something new (can't learn an old dog to sit or what's the saying is) and you don't exactly know what the new thing is because you got hundreds of new things which means you have to research it again before you decide to play it. It is the same with anime and VNs. When I had a few series or a few VNs I would immerse myself into it and watch it nonstop and play every route etc. I could nonstop watch the few anime series I begun watching for hours. But my backlog and to do list grew bigger and bigger. Now it is just a list I don't even care about any more. I think it is a mix of me growing up a bit and the stagnation of "good" (subjective!) animes. I am a fan of long going anime series. I am not content or pleased with 1/2 cour animes. My list of VNs were very small in the beginning. It only consisted of a few selected and handpicked VNs from Fuwa. I played them thoroughly. I have never done that since my list of VNs grew bigger and longer. I don't know what to play because I got several VNs I want to play at the same time. I can't pick one. I end up doing nothing or pick something I haven't finished yet (which gets stalled again) I think the problem is the volume and hassle to pick something among the huge volume someone owns. I am not a lazy person but I am unstructured. If I have a few selected favorites and got a new game I would dive into it without hesitation. But today it is more of a commitment because it is easier to play and enjoy something I know than learning something new. And If I don't really know if I should begin game A or B. I end up doing nothing and browsing Reddit, YT or whatever place to pass the time.
My way of solving this is:
Remove stuff you aren't interested in. That includes everything. If you don't know if you want to play/watch it yet, remove it. This is something you have to feel. Do I want to play Game X now? No? Remove it. The fewer options the better. And you can always reinstall or acquire stuff later on. If you forgot about some games or so. That's good. You weren't interested from the beginning. I don't know if you own Steam. But that's a curse scrolling through your games even though you sorted them. You see X amount of titles you acquired from HumbleBundle (not interested at all), from Steam sales and I don't know what. Sort them into an undesirable folder. That way you don't see them when you are looking for something to play among the interested titles. Limit what your brain sees. Of course you can visit that undesirable folder later on to find something which is interesting now. Take one thing at a time. About games I decided to do a list I follow until I feel "completed". You force yourself to play stuff in an order. Just so you can't stall the selection and whenever you feel an urge to play something you already got that game picked. Your brain doesn't have to think. See 4 about when you could move on. When you move on you delete it so you can't say "I am just going to play this for a while" or so and then you indefinitely stall it. If it is about anime I pick one anime, watch it and then remove it. I have already removed every anime I don't know if I am gonna watch yet. I have a few selected animes I won't delete but I have saved those on a different location so I can't see them with my eyes whenever I want to watch something new. If you start something you continue until you are finished or feel completed. You don't have to complete it but you shouldn't feel that it was a waste and you have at least TRIED playing the game. If you don't enjoy the game move on. You can't like everything. I know it is so hard finishing something you have begun. But it is a mental thing in my case. You just have to force yourself to finish what you started if you enjoy it. Be it a VN route, the last 4 episodes of an anime or whatever. Just force yourself to watch it. Whenever I force myself to the end I feel a good satisfaction and I am pleased. Of course you could tweak it in your way. But this is how I try to pass my time during weekends and doing something "productive" on my spare time. How I write this is a bit radical and I am not following this point by point. But it is to give you and everyone else an idea how you perhaps could get motivation back. I am following this to an extent and I did follow this for a month until I felt I had begun playing games/watching anime again. Of course you are allowed to just browse shitposting sites too. But we all know that feeling "I want to do something" but you can't decide what to do. This is how to help with that. Hopefully.
Edit: I never pre order things anymore and I try to limit my buys to a couple each year. For example I am so anticipating Warhammer: Total War. But I am not ordering until summer because I already got a lot of stuff already planned until summer. But because we got Seinarukana coming out soontm I am waiting for that game. And that's a game I know is at least 40 hours of dedicated gameplay. Why should I buy something else when I can't spare any time to play it? It is better to wait. The game is perhaps somewhat cheaper and patched later on anyway.

Using translated VNs as a model to improve your writing is probably a bad idea.  Most releases employ literal translations by translators and editors who aren't professional fiction writers.
Using OELVNs as a model won't be much better since, again, most groups don't employ professional fiction writers.
You're probably better off reading popular fiction novels, honestly.

SilverLi reacted to Nosebleed in Dating sims aren't bad at reflecting real life, but are VNs as well? (GameTheory p2)
As someone who's watched GameTheory for like a year now, I am very, very saddened by these 2 latest videos.
The bottom line is: There's no secret flawless formula to dating, just meet people you can feel comfortable around and form bonds with them. Don't assume it's a set of specific choices that will magically make them fall in love with you like in a game. Yes, there are some things you can do to make people like you more, but love will come as long as you're not a jerk about it. As for me, I am happily married to my anime pillow.
Also don't spend your money on dating books and online courses. Seriously. Don't.
You're better off spending your time watching random shit getting crushed by a hydraulic press.

So, the second vid is out:
While I do understand that both the past video and this one don't exactly bring new discoveries to how you should date, I think it highlighting the important parts of what you should and should not do to get a real grill is very enlightening, and self assuring. I personally think I'm going to take Huniepop, and games like it, more seriously after watching this. I never considered giving gifts to be a big deal for example (I thought it was just a cheap way to get a grill), but now I understand both how important it is and how to do it right.
Whether you look at it the same way or not, I would like to ask if you think the same can be said about the popular VNs in this community. The kinds Matt brings up as an example are mostly dating sims, which aren't really the same as your average Japanese VN. The latter tend to have more story and less mechanics, it's not as simple as getting to sleep with a girl. The methods used in things like KEY VNs in particular feel a little... Extreme and unrealistic. It's been a few years since I last read Clannad so I don't remember it too well, but I recall thinking "who dafak does this irl, these silly fapanese VNs"  I suppose it would require me to read VNs in a whole new light in order to come to a satisfactory conclusion, taking them a lot more seriously than I usually do. But what do ya'll think? : >

Yeah, click bait topic title, whatever. Enough is enough. After this post, I am never coming back here again, so you can make hate posts all you want.
Seriously, all I see is hate for the Sakura series. Why? Because it's popular? Or because you think they're milking the series? Well, that's subjective, so we can argue about it all day long and never come to a conclusion. The Sakura series is still a piece of creative art, and we need to at least show it that much respect.
All right, I will just come right out and say it. The Sakura series actually introduced me to the visual novel genre. It will always have a special place in my heart, yet you all just keep sh*ting on it. Every damn post guys. It makes me so , and I have been trying to hold it in, but I can't contain it anymore. Screw this. I am going to post one final picture here, then maybe some of you will actually have a change of heart and realize the Sakura series in fact deserves a lot of respect:

Oh? Let's talk Seinarukana then - is that why for years, Moogy and co. were going around saying 'the translation's been complete for ages, who know why the game hasn't been released or what they're doing'? It's only recently we found out they wanted a Steam release.
Then there was that game which was stuck at 99% progress, it's "being inserted" for about a year. Was it Yumina? I can't remember. And who knows what's going on with half their Nitro+ stuff, like Sumaga.
The delay for Root Double is less than a month, which is pretty small considering most delays in the game dev world, and miniscule compared with JAST. Communication could be better, but the wait is small enough that it should be bearable either way. If it gets pushed back to December, then again to next March then ...

Superior gameplay which keeps me entertained and it is hard or tricky to get the more special endings/goals. I always return to this game once a year or so. There is something special when I am conquering Japan. You could go for one of the endings or trying to complete the game. Which is a hardcore mess where you most likely are raging over any small detail. Some of the character clears are just painful to get. But just playing the game is easy and you can do whatever you want. It isn't hard either. You decide how much of a challenge you want. I usually decide myself what I want to do and how I want to do it. Just to mix it up and trying to get different units.
    2. Kamidori Alchemy Meister
I never completed this game. But it was interesting. But the grinding and collecting went on to an absurd amount of level and in the end I dropped it. But it was enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys grinding.
    3. I want to say Seinarukana here. But I can't
I have high hopes for this VN. But I can't say if it is good or not. I enjoyed the first game and what I have heard the sequel should be much better overall. Otherwise I don't have any favorite I could recommend. Played a lot of machine translated gameplay VNs but that was a horror I am not repeating. I can't really judge them when I can't even comprehend a sentence. It doesn't do the story justice.

Eventually we will have a major Demo coming which will launch before our Kickstarter. It will feature some of the gameplay mechanics and will be 45 minutes long roughly. Fully voiced of course.
The Demo is crashing for lower spec comps so we will be optimizing it tonight. Be sure to leave your specs if it crashes on you.

I like this idea a lot, any memorable mascot that comes to mind are animal things. Teddy (Persona 4 ), Kyuubei (Madoka), Pikachu (Pokemon), Snoo (Reddit), Sonic (Sega), Crabigator (WaniKani), hell even Denpasoft has a bunny thing. This is not to say human mascots can't be effective, Mario, Hatsune Miku, and that's all I can thing of. Logo's and Animal/Creature inspired mascots just seem to be a lot more memorable.
I still like the GravityGreen inspired mascot, but I have no idea how it would look like. That being said, green, yellow/orange, blue, and pink are the colors I associate with Fuwa. It helps those are the colors that are used in the Fuwanovel logo
I'm also partial to cutesy stars so those get my vote too.

And before anybody mentions MangaGamer, people should remember their whole store is set up to make you feel as though you're browsing the wares of a back-alley sex shop, in the sleaze district.
