  1. Yeah, I know, but if you'd be looking for something more or less synonymous with the OELVN community (especially in its early years) and not completely generic, it would be the Ren'Ai Archive and the closely-related Lemma Soft Forums. So I think it would be a nice touch. BTW, there was really meant to be "or" between those two propositions... :<
  2. The OELVN continent should be called Renainia or Lemma Confederation IMHO.
  3. Looks like a cool concept. I've never got to playing the platformer, I guess it's not connected with this story to the point where I'd be missing something important?
  4. Hey, this looks interesting... And is on Newgrounds! ...An the thread is in the wrong section of the forums for year and a half now. GG mods. ;p
  5. I think a mod will move it sooner or later... @Kaguya, you sleeping? I see you in the online members list. ;p About the project itself, it looks pretty huge in scale. Is it your first attempt at creating a commercial VN @Humkey?
  6. Well, I just had to check what those Sekai releases are about, and... NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE
  7. I've finally caught up on watching Overlord and man, what a fun show it is. I'm not really convinced it a "good" one by any sophisticated standards, but it's just pure, unfiltered entertainment, that doesn't give a damn about things such as balanced power levels etc, fully embracing the ridiculous campiness of the RPG setting (it's exactly the reason why I also like Deathmarch, but obviously that one is much less original and has lower production values). I also really like how it plays on the idea of "evil overlord" with a lot of ambiguity - especially the second season leads into interesting territories, with that whole "dominating the lizardmen" drama and Momonga playing with life and death. And I absolutely adore how the protagonist is internally still a dork, behind his ruthless, intimidating persona and can't get help but get flustered by the actions of his minions. Plus the over-the-top ED and OP segments, they just add like 20% more charm to the whole thing. ^^
  8. That's a nice mix. From the title selection, I guess you mostly play on Steam? What are your favorites so far?
  9. Hello, feel free to make a topic in the introduction section and tell us a bit about yourself. And don't worry, @EastCoastDrifter wasn't scolding you, he just sounds like that sometimes. ;p I wouldn't be worried about the rest of the Layline games, Sekai definitely took a hit to their reputation, but they're nowhere close to going down - or at least there's no reason to think they are. With how they use Kickstarter, their investment risk is minimal, so they won't just go bankrupt from this blunder - obviously, they can't go like that forever, letting their clients down, but as long as they fix their mistakes the lack of serious competition and decent licences they have will keep them afloat.
  10. Is the first part also a confession, or just a comment? (hint: that's why)
  11. I guess this already counts as a burn? Fell free to continue if you wish though. :3 It's up for anyone's interpretation, I guess... :3
  12. Oh hey, I've made it to 500 likes, let's start again!!!! ...yeah, no, even I'm not that obnoxious. I'll wait at least to 2000 posts before I start shouting for attention again. As the thread died out, I've just wanted to thank you all guys for participating in this twisted masochism session, but above all for those last few months of fun that Fuwa gave me. I've spent absolutely unreasonable amounts of time here, got scolded a few times by my GF for constantly checking the Forums, suffered sleep deprivation from trying to fit regular VN sessions and writing blog posts into my schedule... But mostly, had an absolute blast, more than in any place over the internet in the last two decades and in ways that helped me get through some serious RL setbacks without ever feeling broken or alone. Apart from the people that already got a shout-out in the previous post, it would be unfair for me to not mention @MaggieROBOT for sparking my interest in the Otome and BL niches, @Narcosis for being the person I most enjoy disagreeing with and @Zander, for the reasons he knows about (just get your shit together and start logging in again, you shitposter ). And @arosia for inspiring me to aim higher and be more confident about my writing. I surely missed a few people I'm ought to thank more directly, but it's the whole community that makes this place what it is, so I can't possibly mention everyone that deserves it. I hope you guys will be able to bear my presence in the future, because it will be hard for me to stop hanging out around here at this point - especially when my mission of helping OELVNs conquer the world is far from over.
  13. So, it's a bit like Sakura Dungeon in this regard? I can't get over how much I like the music for that game. :3 BTW, I find it amusing that whenever someone enjoys OELVNs it immediately goes to discussion if they're better than JP ones (with obvious assumption that they're worse so why do you even bother with them?). It's a well known fact that you can't just like VNs in general, rather than differentiating by their origins first. And that might sound hypocritical from the "resident OELVN guy", but I wouldn't ever come up with this gimmick and profile my blog this way if not the already present, over-the-top prejudice against western-made VNs I've observed here. ;p
  14. Wow, man... I know people can have their kinks and stuff, but this is a bit over the top. I feel deeply disturbed.
  15. My only trick is to keep away from computer whenever studying without it is possible and going to places that leave me nothing to do other than focusing on my work. A library or a quiet cafe for example. Trying to study at home barely ever works for me, there's just too many things distracting me there. Learning Japanese is maybe one of few exceptions, as I do it for fun rather than because I have to.
  16. No Edit: Don't be sad though though @Chewy, my religion simply forbits me to accept foreign gods. Maybe you want to talk about our Lord and Saviour Ren'py?
  17. I haven't seen any proofs of SG translations being edited in any meaningful ways.
  18. I don't think it's anywhere near 15% TBH. Also, when it comes to what @EastCoastDrifter said, devs rarely getting involved around here nowadays just goes to how limited the benefits of that would be - our community is not that fond of OELVNs in the first place and without chance of being featured on the frontpage, which still receives decent traffic, going beyond posting basic info about your game and maybe following with a few updates is not worth the effort, if you think about potential sales gain. Just dumping one post and never coming back might be a fairly mean thing to do, but it doesn't surprise me or seem unreasonable from the pragmatic point of view. Which doesn't change the fact that posting this kind of an unreadable mess and not even bothering to do anything about it is on another level of not giving a fuck.
  19. Could it really? I always though that likes are something people might be after, rather than just high post counts. And the fact CoC posts didn't display in the total post numbers skewed the like/post ration of some people pretty heavily. It rewarded shitposting more that the current system does IMO. :]
  20. Congrats on the milestone! ^^ So, is there any walkthrough you made that you're especially proud/fond of? Is there any that was particularly irritating/boring to make, to the point you seriously regretted attempting it?
  21. Not really, normally I would actually consider buying it.
  22. Heh, that's a randomly accurate pun for a review that somehow never wanted to turn out readable and went through an unreasonable number of edits, which, as it always is with over-edited things, only partially helped with anything. ;p For the games themselves, they are really nice when you need something chill and fluffy. And the author seems to be improving with every game, so I'm actually quite interested in how the newest part turns out. Oh, and I managed to butcher Yvin's name in the weirdest possible way... Really, this post just didn't like me. Well, still thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it! At least with next week's review, I'm very satisfied with how it turned out and it will be something quite unusual. :3
