  1. ^ Why not both? < It would be easier to post if this bus wasn't shaking so much... v Is Fuwa addiction dangerous?
  2. My Favorite couple will be Shirahane Suou and Hanabishi Rikka from the Flowers series. It's a non-canon pairing, at least when it comes to first three chapters of the game, but one that is really dear to me and one I find most appropriate for the characters. Suou is pretty much a female version of me - a shy, insecure girl, with s fair share of childhood traumas and hope to change her life for the better in the new environment. And while the game tries to sell her trying to be someone she isn't as the "right" approach, one that leads to positive conclusion in the main route, Rikka's route is different. She accepts Suou exactly the way she is and is ready to protect her whenever needed. She's reliable, caring and will do everything for the person she loves. At certain point she makes a horrible mistake, let's jealousy cloud her mind and push her towards manipulating other, but it's not truly in her nature - and it's a lesson she learned well, after she realizes that the feelings she tried to force upon Suou were already there. Her epilogue, unlike the sad end of Mayuri route, is one of the sweetest experiences I've had in VNs and I really hope them being together is still an option in he final part of the series. And now I'm crying for some reason.
  3. Well, you dream of dating predator-like skullboys might still come true. The real question regarding these new Sekai releases though... Is Girls in Glasses a nukige? I... Like girls with glasses.
  4. Well, I think every piece of media can do that. It can confront you with situations you never though about or make you empathize with people in positions you would never find yourself in. Present you with an idea you never encountered before or make it more persuasive than when you've seen it in other places. It very much depends on your personal experience and how much that specific VN/book/etc. resonates with you. Reading Analogue had a bit of that for me, as it made me think about discrimination and despair of being put in a drastically subordinate position in society. Made me slightly more sensitive to minority issues, because I understood a bit better what it means to be oppressed. Not really a life-changing experience, but one that pushed me even further in a direction I was already leaning towards. I'm absolutely sure that a VN, just like a book, can have even bigger influence - there's just not one that will bring "spiritual change" to everyone who reads it, because we're too different from each other.
  5. Oh God, fuck today's weather. I think the air pressure fluctuations will make my head explode, I really wanted to write a review this evening and I did, but it might've cost me a few months of my life. At least the text looks decent. Somehow.

    1. Mr Poltroon

      Mr Poltroon

I'll do you a favour and point out severe flaws in your text so you don't feel so terribly puzzled.

  6. This might be not super newsworthy, but it seems that one of the rare, both highly-rated and translated JP yurige suddenly made it to Steam. It's an all-ages title, so there should be no issue with censorship this time. From the preview it looks quite sweet and it's also dirt-cheap ($9 with the launch discount). Anyone around here played it/can tell whether it's pure fluff or there's some kind of drama/intrigue hidden in it? I don't mind pure fluff by the way, but in G-rated form, it probably won't be for everyone.
  7. Welcome! If you ever need recommendations for your recently-started VN adventure, just ask, we'll shower you with so many you won't be able to make any sense out of it. ;p
  8. Welcome to the present, Person from Fuwa's Past. I hope the current world will be to your liking.
  9. Wow! This is an interesting day on Fuwa. Welcome, as one of those unknown newbies I'm very happy to be able to meet you here.
  10. On principle, I'm much more OK with kickstarting original projects than I'm with kickstarting localisations, but with companies like MangaGamer... I don't really believe they don't have the money to fund this by themselves. They just don't want to take even the slightest bit of risk. It's pretty lame that even major publishers in the western VN scene don't have the guts to do something unless their clients take all the investment risk. :/
  11. A new otome enthusiast? Always a nice thing to see. Welcome to Fuwa and have fun posting!
  12. This was already done, in a way...
  13. I would argue that when you actually could understand her it was even worse.
  14. Someone should tell Kojima and del Torro to try a collab again, but this time make it an eroge. I mean, it would propaboy end up horrible, but it would be epicly horrible.
  15. I admire your courage. As much as I enjoy f/f romance, Sera was a bit to extreme to me. That is, telling her to GTFO and never approach the Inquisition at less than 5 mile range felt like the only appropriate option.
  16. Man, this is so harsh, I don't know how people can do something like that and still be able to look in the mirror. I'm glad you're better though - and that all this didn't drive you away from the VN fandom in general. You're a rare gem among the fan commentators/analysts around here, your posts are priceless especially for someone like me, interested in the trends and history of the fandom. Please keep being awesome for us all .
  17. Hmmm, still missing the freeware anarchists angle. I have to go to sleep now, maybe I will propose a proper narration for this tomorrow.
  18. Well, Smartphone is definitely also watchable by this kind of anecdotal evidence - it got a pretty enthusiastic mass following after all. ;p But, you're suggesting that this Hand Shakers thing is literally unwatchable? I must verify that. For Science!
  19. This, more than anything else I think. If I actually care about the characters and they're consistently well-written, there can be no such thing as the story going "too slow", I'll just enjoy the casual moments for what they are and most likely never complain. Well done SoL should be more than just means to an end ("necessary character development" etc.) and as I'm a sucker for anime fluff, a VN that really does it right will receive similar praise from me as one that delivers intense drama - I would even argue that it's paradoxically easier to cover poor writing and characterization with fast pacing than it is in case in a really slow, relaxed story, if you don't want to bore your audience to death.
  20. I don't understand why the "Pure love story" tag is missing from that one...
  21. Welcome to Fuwa! Well, being able to read anything after three years of learning Japanese isn't that bad. I hope I'll be where you are in 2020. Have fun posting!
  22. Meh, I've watched the whole thing without much effort. I actually like watching really horrible shows, observing why and in what ways they fail, but Smartphone was so trashy and shameless that it was funny in a way. The real challenge comes with horrible shows that takes themselves seriously. This season's Toji no Miko is, in my honest opinion, the stinker of the century and I won't look away from its grotesque trainwreck glory until the 24th episode is over.
  23. "Protagonist with Tentacles" tag suggests to me that the thing might not be completely realistic. And I have this feeling... That if someone follows this tag they might find even more impressive things...
  24. How do you organize your YouTube music library? Do you actively look for songs to use as comments here or just post one when something reminds you of it? ;p
