  1. I'm Josh, the founder of the Studio Élan. I'm also part of Alienworks, the group that released "Highway Blossoms" and is working on "The Human Reignition Project." With Studio Élan, we just released a demo for our first game, "Heart of the Woods." It's a yuri game through and through, although I primarily consider it to be a fantasy game with romance elements, rather than a romance game with fantasy elements. I've copy/pasted the synopsis for the game below. The demo is available on Steam for PC only, and it's on Itch.io for PC/Mac/Linux. It'll be on Denpasoft probably next week, and we'll also update the Steam version with Mac/Linux versions around then too. There's a free patch to add in the adult content - for the demo, this is just one scene. The character artist for the game is Rosuuri, whom I also worked with on HRP and HB, but who's best known for her gorgeous fanart, especially FGO. This will be her first ever time drawing adult content. Hope you like the game, please let us know any comments or feedback you have here or on the respective store pages. To help fill in some of the blanks though, there are demo-exclusive chibi versions of Maddie and Tara who will help fill you in on what's happening along the way. Heart of the Woods is a fantasy yuri visual novel about paranormal investigation, ancient mysteries, and a love between two girls that transcends life and death. Maddie Raines, manager, editor, and general business-handler for her best friend Tara’s popular paranormal vlog series, is swept up in a dangerous supernatural crisis when she’s dragged against her will to the remote European village of Eysenfeld. A strange young woman named Morgan has promised them undeniable proof of real paranormal phenomena, and what she has to offer eclipses anything they’d ever seen before. However, out of all the strange occurrences the three of them bear witness to, one in particular captivates Maddie in a way she’s never been before: the ghost of a young woman. This woman is Abigail, the victim of a centuries-old injustice now bound eternally to the forest surrounding Eysenfeld. Drawn to Maddie in a way she can’t explain, Abigail reveals herself to another person for the first time in more than 200 years. While Tara and Morgan investigate the mysteries surrounding the village itself, Maddie begins to form a bond with Abigail that grows to be more intense than any bond she’s felt before. As she learns the truth about Abigail’s death and imprisonment, she realizes that it falls to her and her friends to break the curse that has ruled over Eysenfeld for centuries.   9. Idris is a bonds man- a special bonds man. While most of his clients need to bail loved ones out of jail, a few are looking for a reprieve from someone they once knew. For Evalise, all she wanted was to get a bail bond for her boyfriend, when Idris surprised her with a simple but confusing question. What if you could make him forget all about you? Story Evalise's boyfriend has a bit of a wild side... and a bit of a knack for being caught. She arrives at a bail bonds place run by a man named Idris- however, while working out a bail bond, he springs a question about a different kind of bond- a memory bond. With his knife, he's able to sever any ties a person has with someone else, permanently, making the other person completely forget about his client. With one small cut, she'd be able to leave her not-so-great boyfriend behind and move on... Characters Evalise Adams Our protagonist, Evalise. She's 26 and works a regular retail job with a not-so-regular boyfriend who's a repeat petty criminal. Eva isn't the bad girl type, so her friends don't see why she's with him- but to her, it's just a matter of convenience. She was in a car wreck over a year prior to the start of the game, and ever since then her memory has been blurred and she's slowly distanced herself from her friends. So, finding any kind of person who'd show her a bit of comfort- even at the price of having to bail him out of jail a few times- was worth it to her. Idris Whitcher Idris is a bonds dealer who also runs a lesser-known side business of severing the bonds people have with others. He's 28 and likes seeing movies the night they come out, playing with his shelter rescue labrador, and taking long walks on the beach- at least, that's what his dating profile reads. He takes an immediate interest in Evalise, but hasn't exactly tried the whole "dating" and "relationship" thing in a while. ...And many more characters in-game! Details This game was being made for the Indie Game Maker Contest, a month long game jam held by Degica to make a game in any valid RPG Maker engine. I was hoping to finish this game, but alas, I was only able to get a demo finished. So, now I've ported it to Ren'Py and am finishing it, extending it in the process! The concept for this game came from something quite visible in the key art- the red string of fate. While it's not present in the game, it does give a good idea about what the game is about, as it focuses on the bonds forged between people and fate. As it was a starting point for me in development of the story and is an item most people can identify, I placed it front and center in the artwork. The current demo is about 10-15 minutes long. The consequences are not his alone to bear. Gameplay Yelth + Zhana is a visual novel. Similar to the adventure books of the 70s and 80s, the player is given an opportunity to interact with the story by choosing a path for the protagonist to follow. The path can lead to a "good", "bad" or "neutral" ending. Depending on the ending, the story may or may not continue onward.   14. Hello everyone! Our two-person team at Woodsy Studio is excited to officially announce Echoes of the Fey - Episode 2: The Last Sacrament. It's actually pretty far along in production right now (about 75% complete), but we're running a Kickstarter to help us to the finish line and fund all of the features we want to implement (such as more CGs and voice acting). The Echoes of the Fey series mixes a high fantasy setting with the mysteries and conspiracies of pulp detective fiction. Play as Sofya Rykov, a private investigator with a secret of her own: she is the only Human able to wield unlimited magic. Her country of Oraz is recovering from a 30-year war between Humans and Leshin (elves) over the use of Fey energy, so her unstable magic is best kept secret. Sofya herself is an unusual protagonist. For starters, we gave her personality traits typically given to the male leads of hard-boiled mystery tales. She sports a sassy, optimistic attitude that laughs in the face of danger, but this is a cover for the fear and helplessness underneath. In The Last Sacrament, Sofya’s childhood love and the Emperor’s daughter, Katerina, seeks her protection from threats near the border. Meanwhile Katerina’s rival, Nikolai, needs a dangerous drug stolen from the powerful Krovakyn Church and uses blackmails to force Sofya’s assistance. Nikolai wants a dose of the Sacrament, a mysterious substance from the Krovakyn Church that can cure illnesses and extend lifespans. But repeated use of the Sacrament causes strange side effects, such as hallucinations and physical deformities. Nikolai wants to give the Sacrament to his grandmother, who has already received the maximum dosage allowed. It’s up to you, the player, to solve each case and determine its outcome. Can you track down Katerina’s enemy? And if you manage to steal the Sacrament, what will you choose to do with it? You also have several romance options in The Last Sacrament. If you proceed carefully, you can develop a romantic relationship with Katerina, Arkady, Nikolai, or Heremon. Most of The Last Sacrament consists of traditional VN scenes with choices to direct the story. You can also roam the town of Vodotsk freely as a side-scrolling environment, which opens up side quests and optional investigation opportunities. But the most experimental aspect of Echoes of the Fey: The Last Sacrament is a complex mini-game called RiftRealms. This is a tabletop game that exists in the world of Echoes of the Fey, and as Sofya you can play with other characters. We thought this would be an interesting way to showcase each character’s personality based on how they treat you as a Dungeon master. It also explores the question: what do people fantasize about in a fantasy world? What I'd love to hear from you: 1) Feedback about RiftRealms Via the download-able demo, you can see the first few scenes of the game and try RiftRealms for yourself! We'd love to hear what people think of the mini-game and whether you feel it will be an enjoyable addition to the narrative experience. If you have any other specific feedback about the game right now we'd love to hear that, too 2) Feedback regarding technical game performance Due to the fact that we're building this game in Unreal Engine 4 and implementing some fancy 3D environments, we realize that playing the game will require a better graphics card and CPU than most visual novels. You can set the Overall Visual Quality to LOW in the Options menu if you have a lower-end computer. Either way, we'd love to get a general feel for how the game performs for the average player. PROGRESS The Kickstarter sadly wasn't funded, but we promised that we would stay hard-at-work on the game and ensure it released, though perhaps without all the features we hoped to fund. We anticipated an early 2018 release date, but the unsuccessful campaign and a Steam release of our latest game, miraclr: Divine Dating Sim put us a few months behind schedule. A few months later, we're excited to be ready to give an update on The Last Sacrament. The script is finished and 95% coded into the game. Almost all the art assets are complete and incorporated into the project. The soundtrack is complete except for a couple of remixes that we hope will be a fun surprise for our players. What's left to complete? First off, the remaining portions of the script we've yet to implement in the game. That last five percent is chronologically near the end of the game and (as a result) has more branches/possibilities than most scenes. Second, we're hoping to implement a dynamic version of RiftRealms, the RPG mini-game, so that if players enjoy it they can experience it at any time, not just when the story allows. Finally, the not-insignificant testing and optimization phase, where we'll iron out every bug we can find over the final stretch. So, when will you be able to play The Last Sacrament? As long as there aren't any more unexpected delays, we're aiming for a late May or June release on Steam/itch.io for Windows PCs. Console versions will likely be later this year. But it may require multiple actions or time, e.g. giving a flower 5 times for a 5 affection (so, it's like each flower give 1).You can raise any other people's affections as well but most of them won't be higher than 50 with an exception of the girls. You can't raise affection over 75 with more than one girl or else it will lead to a Bad End. There will also be a special event in every 25 you achieved for every possible characters. You can check everyone's affection level from asking Luvi. Being based within the world of Guns of Icarus, Dust and Air attempts to tell a story based on the pieces of lore that Muse has created.   24. Well hello there! In the name of Moral Anxiety Studio I’m glad to announce that we currently work on our second story-focused video game project for Windows. Tales From Windy Meadow is a single-player collection of interactive stories focused on the community of small village set in bittersweet fantasy world. This Visual Novel explores topics like finding your place in life, loneliness, pursuing your goals and dealing with your past and disadvantages. Unlike most VNs, we decided to use to our advantage the world of pixel art. Inspired by games such as VA-11 Hall-A and Sword & Sworcery, we want to create distinctive visuals and combine them with immersive, relatable writing and amazing folk music composed by Doctor Turtle. We also experiment with other features to make the game as pleasant as possible. The text-based narration is going to be replaced by various animations, limiting the on-screen text almost exclusively to dialogues. Significant character decisions, “skip a scene” button, an in-game map... The GameMaker Studio engine is a perfect tool to add to our game everything it needs to entertain you. The game still has a long way to go. We’re currently working on concept arts, story improvements and programming alike, so we plan to release the game in March of 2018. And if you liked our previous game, The Tavern, you may want to know that Tales From Windy Meadow are set in the same universe, though a couple of decades later.   25. Kotachi Asterio is a 15 year old boy who wants to help people that can’t fight for themselves. However, he isn't some sort of superhero- he can just see things other people can't. During the day, he goes to high school with his best friend, Ophi. At night, the two fight off specters, monsters that lurk in shadows and can harm people. It is a kinetic visual novel in terms of story, as there is only one ending. Game Design Document ★ Public Script ★ Concept Art Kotachi has been able to see specters since he was about 10. When his grandfather died, he was given a wooden box that was simply inscribed with “to whoever can grasp it”. Inside were a pair of white revolvers- however, his parents couldn’t see them, leading Kotachi to realize the revolvers were special. He finds that his revolvers are actually forged from the constellation Perseus, and can be used to fight of specters, monsters that fester in dark places. The game starts with Kotachi and his best friend, Ophi, fighting off specters when they stumble upon a talking fox who claims to be an Aligner, someone who fights specters, and makes the two boys her apprentices. They meet several other characters as they all train to become certified Aligners from C.O.I.N., an organization that employs Aligners to dispel and research specters. Throughout the game, it becomes apparent that some constellations actually embody human forms, and are a group known as the Zodiac- a group that was previously thought to be legend, as they haven’t been seen for decades. Kotachi is one of the few people in the world with a weapon strong enough to dispel the specters controlling each of the Zodiac, and thus can become their Protector, someone who shields the constellations from specters and is able to invoke their power in battle. ✩ Kotachi Asterio Kotachi almost always has a grin on his face and, when he isn’t being lazy, he’s typically upbeat. However, he’s not very outgoing, and Ophi is his only real friend until Vulpe comes along and forces him to meet new people. Kotachi would be perfectly content staying a nobody and destroying specters on his own time, as he hates change. ✩ Ophi Lira Ophi is a very standoffish character who is both distrusting and generally doesn’t like the rest of the cast, save for Kotachi- however, even with Kotachi he’s very tsundere. However, aside from their “teacher”, Vulpe, Ophi is the most experienced in the group, as he’s been able to see specters “for as long as [he] can remember”. As he’s known him since they were little, Ophi is closest to Kotachi. Even with Kotachi, though, there are things he doesn’t like to talk about- specifically his family, or lack thereof. However, through all of his rude and snide comments directed at Kotachi, Ophi does care about him. ✩ Ayane Miu Ayane is seemingly cold and standoffish, but she generally doesn’t like people who waste her time or slack off. She is the tentative valedictorian of their class and also the incognito PTA president while also learning the ropes of running a national bank, her father's business. It's safe to say she doesn't exactly like to rest. She’s worked most her life to further her father’s business when she takes over, so most of her development is her learning to relax every once in awhile. ✩ Leos Coronil Leos tries to get along with everyone. He’s an easy going guy, but his calm nature makes him the target of bullying, specifically from football players who think he’s crazy for seeing specters. Within the group, he’s the median, and thinks more with his heart than with his brain. Although he’s easy going, he is somewhat outgoing as well and likes talking to people. He’s the ace of the soccer team and prefers the company of people as opposed to being alone. ✩ Riko Asterio Riko is Kotachi’s adopted older sister. She used to be close with Kotachi when they were younger, but a failure to stay in touch or even visit after she moved into a dorm for high school caused the two to grow apart. She’s grown sort of blind to this shift, and is surprised when she finally comes home to see how far apart Kotachi has grown from her. Riko is mostly the opposite of her brother- she’s outgoing, loud, and constantly trying new things. She’s never still except when busy with work and loves to be around others. Most of all, she likes teasing Kotachi. ✩ Mitra Jesser Mitra is somewhat a lone wolf who has been hunting specters on his own for years like Ayane. However, Mitra received all of his training from his father, a retired Aligner who worked for C.O.I.N. Although he is somewhat of a loner, Mitra is not overly rude or standoffish- instead, he’s more quiet and concise. He agrees with Ayane’s thinking of “say what you need to say and nothing more”, except his approach on this comes from a soldier’s point of view rather than a business person’s point of view. He is often seen studying- because of this most people think he's an A+ student, when in reality he's a C-. ✩ Dania Truman Dania doesn’t get out a lot, not since her grandfather passed away. She used to volunteer at the C.O.I.N. outpost with him, healing Aligners, so when he passed away she kept at it, even if she became more reserved. After she met the rest of the characters, she began trying to go with them on their quests, even if it meant skipping out on work. Dania is timid and doesn’t talk a lot to strangers, but isn’t quiet like Mitra- instead, she only talks a lot to people she’s comfortable being around because of her shyness. She’s a very hard worker, and frequently works until told by a superior to take a break. This is my newest project, Asterism. It's an RPG VN (i.e. an RPG with VN elements) that is being made on RPG Maker MV. It centers around Kotachi and the rest of the cast training and becoming certified Aligners, and eventually him becoming the Protector of the Zodiac. I've already had a few questions about it before, so note- this game is astronomy based, not astrology based. The main cast all use weapons forged from constellations such as Perseus, Serpens, Aquila, and more- each weapon was placed on Earth long ago by ancient powers. Each of the weapons can be upgraded. Later on, Kotachi begins rescuing members of the Zodiac from specters that have infected them- once he has successfully rescued a constellation, he is able to summon them to help fight off specters. As the title says, there are some boys love elements in it, i.e. Kotachi ends up with a boy. This is a kinetic novel in terms of storytelling however, so there's only one ending. I'm aiming for a final word count of around 50k, and right now I'm sitting at 25k~ words of dialogue. ★ Questions About the Public Script Here are some questions for those of you who feel ambitious and would like to read the tentative script for Asterism in the link above!
