YU-NO is an old and wonderful VN.
I love the art and music.
It's definitely worth the read, but you'll need a walkthrough if you don't like obtuse as fuck gameplay systems. Pervy protagonist, a few "dude what in the shit" sort of h-scenes, and that obtuseness might turn you off.
I read it around 2.5 years ago and loved it.

If it was working for you, you'd be falling asleep in 15 minutes. I've had a few ideas myself on how to balance my sleep, but it turned out some of them were bad. One was just closing my eyes and waiting until I fell asleep, but that's actually what contributed to my insomnia. And although I never tried it (I rarely drink at all), drinking alcohol is apparently bad for sleep too, and I know several people swear by the drink-to-sleep method.
I think you're also kinda guilty of applying a temporary sleep fix that works against you in the long run. Ideally you want your head to be as relaxed as possible, which means you shouldn't be stimulating it to such a degree with an active imagination. Writing works a lot better because it allows you to dump those thoughts on paper so that they don't encumber your sleep.
Yeah, you don't want to fall asleep instantly either; that's just as bad as taking too long to sleep. The most important thing is to train your mind to fall asleep when you need to. From what you've described, it definitely sounds like you have some work to do to improve your sleep.
Oh, excuse me. To clarify: if your hours are 11pm to 7am, then 11pm is the earliest you can fall asleep; if you don't feel sleepy until 12am, then don't go to bed until 12am; and when you're not within your designated sleep time, don't sleep. I hope that makes more sense.
Here's a few other guidelines I'm following to help things along:

It was there, as well. You will notice that she had a tendency to pull out some... interesting expressions some Americans wouldn't even get.
Your counter-example doesn't work. For it to work, the situation must be analogous -- the guys in Dies Irae should speak the language the VN would be translated to for the example to be analogous. As German isn't English, this isn't the case.
 
We're asking for a solution for an impossible problem. If people speak English in Japan, as is the case in the translation (even if they're technically speaking Japanese), there is no way to differentiate it from the actual English language English people speak. What, then, is Japanese language in this strange world? Still Japanese? The actual English? Did English and Japanese swap in this universe?
Let's tackle this from another perspective: What if we tried to replicate the experience the Japanese had? Many believe this is the best way to localise a work.
The Japanese were face with a character who constantly used words in a language they didn't speak, yet were familiar with (English is an international language, and plenty of English words have been... incorporated into a Japanese person's vocabulary, even if with a skewed meaning). This situation is analogous to most of Chrono Clock's player-base. If you're playing a translation, it is likely you do not speak the Japanese language well, or at all. But if you're playing a Visual Novel, there's also a high chance you're familiar with Japanese media (maybe even know the occasional word). With all this in mind, the idea isn't bad.
Now let's look at D.D's character. Would it make sense for her to spew these random Japanese words? Considering she's a Japanese obsessed otaku, yes. Considering they're actually speaking Japanese written in English, no, since we don't know what Japanese written in Japanese represents. Too many questions to make sense of. Let's tackle it case by case.
1st - The UK speaks English, written in English, and the Japanese speak Japanese, written in English.
This may be the most natural assumption, but that completely removes Japanese from the script, and also creates the conflict: What happens when a Japanese character meets an English character -- which is the exact problem we're facing. If there is no way to discern Japanese from English, half of D.D's quirks are thrown out the window. As we want to avoid the experience being different between versions (English and Japanese), something else but similar must take its place, like overplaying the British side (and if she were American, then RIP translator). And this being the case... What IS the Japanese in the script? 2nd - The UK speaks English, written in Japanese, and the Japanese speak Japanese, written in English.
This would be the second most natural assumption, and D.D's use of Japanese may lead one to conclude this. Generally removes the problems, so long as the English reader accepts the English in this universe is not for them to understand. I'm not, however, sure if the script mentions whether she's speaking another language when stuff is written in Japanese or not. If it is, then the deal is sealed. If it isn't, then ambiguity remains. 3rd - The UK speaks Japanese, written in Japanese, and the Japanese speak English, written in English.
This could also be the case, though it would be virtually indiscernible from the previous one, and the script might contradict it.  
Given all this, had I been put in the position they were... I'd have likely done the same thing or try to make her use obscure British slang as often as possible -- though I'm not sure how feasible this is, because not only would it have to exist, I'd have to know it or be able to research it.

This is why you don't take advice from people on Facebook.

That's why i didn't play all the highly-rated VNs, so i could play them whenever i want and be mind blown.
 

Unluckily, that doesn't spare us from terrible translations. But it's a start.

It's great that you want to help bring unTLed games to western fans, but... a machine TL made by someone who doesn't know any Japanese won't help much at all. You say you will convert the sentences to make sense, but that basically just means you are adding meaning to them yourself. Some machine TLed lines actually make 0 sense compared to the RAW, so in those cases, you will be making up something that could possibly fit by yourself. (And what you add will most likely be completely wrong.) That's not a translation, not at all.
Even an edited machine TL takes a bit of time to make, so you gotta ask yourself: Do you really want to spend your own free time making something that most people won't read? Something that will probably end up angering more fans than pleasing them?
Don't take people's negativity towards this as hate towards you, because that's not what it is, not at all. We're just trying to save you tons of wasted time put into a "translation" that won't be read by 90% of fans. (Not to mention also save that 10% from wasting their time trying to read something that ultimately won't make sense.)
TL;dr: Don't do this. It will just be a waste of time for you and the few people who would read a patch like this.

I think the fundamental mistake of trying to translate something like Asa-baka is to keep the name + title suffix structure and just try to replace the suffix with something else. This structure is a unique Japanese construct because it spoofs their typical -kun, -chan, -san title suffixes. This doesn't exist in English, so it simply can't work here.
If an English person tries to do a similar thing, he'll usually try to replace part of the name with something else. For example, if you want to provoke good old Hercules, you might call him Dorkules. Or if you think that Nicolas Sarkozy was a greedy guy you can turn his name to Nicolas Sharkozy. Or if you don't like Tony Blair, you might transform his name to Tony Bland.
So Asa-baka shouldn't be translated to something like Asa-Something, instead the full name Asaba should be twisted to something else. Maybe Asatard for retard or Asoron for moron. Or use the full name Asaba Yuuma to get a funny combination. There are most likely better variants, but I guess just asking an 8 - 12 year old kiddo what he'd do with this name if that would be his most hated classmate will lead to the best and most creative results. 

I really like uniforms. Especially military uniforms. Let's get that out of the way first.
Secondly, I like representations of bodies or organisations of people, such as the armed forces or the police or firemen or an inspection department or whatever. I like bodies with authority, and I like bureaucracy and hierarchies. And then, I especially like when that authority is then used to do "good". Catch criminals, keep the peace, eliminate corruption, help people, etc.
These guidelines are very vague, so I do think a lot of different things might fit. Don't be afraid to recommend something!
Here's some examples for those who wish to help me, or some recommendations for the like-minded.
I've never watched Library Wars, but from the synopsis alone, it does seem to be within what I'm looking for. Any recommendations?
TL;DR: Recommend me anime or manga (completed) with an organisation/group/body with some authority as a focus (specific police branch, specific military branch, specific section in the crew of a large vehicle, church doing good).

I haven't read the game, but from what I see here, it is only an adaptation because of his name. Translating a joke as specific as this (where she uses the last syllable to make the pun) is very hard for the translator. On a personal note, it does not seem to be even important to the game in any ways.
I think you guys are trying to look too much into it.
