XReaper reacted to Narcosis in My VN slump
It's not a slump. You're simply changing like we all do. Despite my wilingness to learn japanese and general fondness for vn's, I found myself incapable to play them on a regular basis and I can't really force myself to do so either. I'm kind of still slowly plowing through my backlog (currently on 魔物娘の館 彗星館異形録 ~人魚の章~ ), but it's not really enjoyable when you force yourself to do things, that used to bring joy in the past. Just... I don't know - it's not like my interest in vn's vained or anything, I'd say the opposite, but I simply don't feel like playing all the games I wanted to. Maybe it's because I'm more focused on creating something of my own nowadays. Maybe because I have a decent job that finally allowed me to afford things I could only dream of a couple years ago; that aside, there's life and various obligations to consider as well. Sadly, reading and playing vn's remains time consuming. I'm not the kind of person to waste a couple days worth of time on a silly moege, I might not even enjoy that much.
At times... we just need a longer break.

XReaper reacted to Narcosis in *sighs* more ladder-style complaints
Those rare exceptions are more or less stories written well, or at least well enough to fit into ladder-style storytelling. Majority of games are simply horribly thought out and written; all thanks to those pathetic writers, who literally have no idea how to adopt their excuse of a story into visual novel medium.

XReaper got a reaction from SaintOfVoid in October 2016: Which VNs I plan to play and what I'm doing now
he´s the author of a free doujin called cyber-rebeat in which he rather darn promisingly demonstrated the potential writing-abilities of his (though the engine they´ve used sucked dinosaur balls). all in all it´s by no means a masterpiece, probably never meant to be one as well, but its thought-through concept and the overall premise sets itself pleasantly apart from many others of its kind.

XReaper reacted to Arcadeotic in Dear Translation Requesters
^ pretty much.
People, even if new, should first do some interior or exterior research before posting these retarded posts that have already been done to death. The level of ignorance shown with these posts/threads only comes to show how much people don't know and/or don't care about what happens behind the scenes and just want the end result.
And it indeed isn't, if you aren't doing it for:
Learning, like say, practicing for better linguistic skills or just overall better understanding of a language. Have huge amounts of motivation and drive for it. Want to get involved more in the scene, or use it as a stepping stone in your future career, or something of that sort. I'm very much triggered that people aren't double-checking on what they're doing on the internet or in general, and donations for fan-translations are a very good example of that. If they'd just dig around for a bit, they'd find pretty easily that paying money for fan-work is in most cases illegal.
People honestly should pay more attention before bashing something they don't like, but that part of humans won't change, ever. Things be dumb and unfair to the end, so better get a thicker skin before sliding deeper. Or at all, really.

XReaper got a reaction from SaintOfVoid in Fruit of the poisonous tree (?) random thoughts.
re: ...and I know that some readers don't want realism in VNs to begin with, so this is something they will never understand or even want in the first place ...
- characters behaving in a realistic, non illogical and consequent manner does not neccessarily contradict a plotline that still gives off a fictional vibe, as both are pretty much able to co-exist, btw. enhance eachother, whereas most titles lacking the former often end up nothing but works of great retardism, making you cringe until there is no more. basically saying well written works of selfinsertion are long since dead, be it either because of authors seemingly giving some fucks, or to non scare off the more sensitive part of their readership who tend to favor maximized escapism over its pendant, prone to getting depressive and such. honestly speaking, to me every kind of art (unless it contains personal information) is and should always stand above ethics and morals, means, why should an author even care about some readers possibly hanging themselves, forwhy it´s simply neither his nor his works fault (obvious exaggeration(?) here). nothing worse than crippling your own works out of false consideration/playing amateur-therapist, seriously.

Don't expect endings from that writer lel
Akagoei is all about Kaito's dick. Nothing else.

XReaper reacted to Clephas in A warning for September's releases (Tayutama 2)
To be honest, in my experience August tends to add too much moe to characters that don't need it, at least when they use their standard writing team. The idol thing is an idiot's choice, obviously... I'm currently figuring on this just being a somewhat higher quality Koiken Otome, in terms of the experience (potential for darker turns of events wasted in favor of moe and slice-of-life).

XReaper reacted to Zakamutt in VN of the Month: Just letting yall know
I read most of your posts, and they tend to be entertaining and often interesting, though most of the stuff you look at I'm unlikely to ever touch. I definitely want you to continue from a consumer point of view

XReaper reacted to Forgetful Frank in Bishoujo Mangekyou - Mistakes were made and Prologue patch 2.0
I'm really proud to be part of the team, you've done fantastic work!
It looks beautiful.
Apart from that one minor typo @XReaper already pointed out, it's perfect.

XReaper reacted to Darklord Rooke in [Fuwa exclusive][Rant] Promoting VNs in a culture of apathy
Mate, I have no idea why you even pay attention to people complaining. People don't like that you advertise? Tough. People don't like what you have to say? Tough. People don't like the way you say things? Tough. A significant number of people on the internet need to learn how to ignore shit they don't like without a piece of software to do it for them. It used to be a valuable skill back in the day.
On the other hand they are also free to complain, and whine, and bitch, just as you're free to ignore them. Do as you wish within the rules, you're lucky enough to live in a free country. and let people react how they react *shrugs*

XReaper reacted to Fiddle in Issho ni Sleeping: Sleeping with Hinako Is The Best Thing Ever Made
I believe you misinterpreted my statement. I meant that that image of Hinako's armpit was insignificant among other images of Hinako's armpit, not that it was a bad image in general, for, when taking into account the masterful artistic quality of this animation, it is indeed a superior image as far as the human axilla is concerned.
For example, here is an easily 9/10 image of Hinako's armpit:

You clearly can not appreciate fine art.

XReaper reacted to Conjueror in Baldr Force Exe: As promised
Omg, it was my 37th VN a couple of forevers ago. So close!
I still think it's better than Baldr Sky because it takes three times less time to tell a better story.

You finally submitted to your darkest urges.
Well done.

XReaper reacted to Clephas in Not much hope for 2015's VN of the Year?
Nothing? In my experience, games by August tend to start out good and fall flat about two thirds of the way through.
Edit: Not saying that to be a bastard... but beginning with Fortune Arterial, I've yet to play an August game that didn't follow that pattern or have some major flaw that made me go insane with rage.

XReaper reacted to sanahtlig in The Eroge Scene in Parody: Translator Baseball
Oh yes, now I remember why I wrote this. The "functioning" of the VN translation community struck me as absurdity of the highest level. I wrote this piece to convey the utter dysfunction I saw.
I could easily write a sequel based on the following concepts / events:
The NNL / minori debacle
Aroduc's Littlewitch Romanesque Kickstarter
Flame War I: Paradise lost in the chaste gardens of Grisaia
Flame War II: The Days are no longer Shiny, A tale of Kokoro lost
The Steam Revolution: Now with 20% less content!
Sekai Project: Now renewably powered by the tears of the VN fanbase. Go go Project Sakura!
JAST USA: Support JAST's censorship of crazy games from Japan!
Mangagamer: Visual novels - the other animu porn
