Nothing with a similar setting comes to mind unfortunately =( Though there is an Utawarerumono 2 in the works.

I can recommend other VNs with good gameplay, though I don't think that's quite what you were asking for.

well i personally don't like gameplay at all in VN's because i like reading VN's to go full blown relaxation mode

One of my friends got me back into a VN reading mood with our Little Busters! talk after he recently finished it.  I hadn't been playing much in a while, but I'm juggling a few VNs that I wanted to finish.  Namely, Rose Guns Days season 1 and Grisaia no Kajitsu (I never went back to it after finishing Sachi's, even if I meant to.)  I was also planning to continue my game of Rewrite, but I'll probably wait until I at least finish Rose Guns Days.  Might also re-install Umineko since I was already 3 chapters in when the HD it was on failed.

welp just finished utawarerumono and it was great though that single ending really makes me a sad panda. Any ideas if utawarerumono 2 gonna be with same characters or just same settings?

There's a sequel?!

From the looks of it, it's still in development.

After playing finishing Steins;Gate (I liked it, can't say it was absolutely incredible because I saw the anime beforehand, can't give a first experience review towards it), I went to look at what other games were made by Overdrive (dengeki stryker), and I'm starting Kira☆Kira, even though I KNEW it was heavy towards music in the plot.  Giving it a shot, if Iike it, I might try the fandisc and Deardrops.

I also really enjoyed Kira Kira and Deardrops. There's a cross-over VN being translated that I can't wait to read ^_^

Just as a heads-up, I would advise playing their routes in a certain order.

Kira Kira: All 3 original routes must be completed before you can play Kirari's True Route, and I would suggest at least finishing Kirari's normal route before deciding whether you like the VN or not.

Deardrops: I would recommend playing Kanade's route first, then Yayoi/Rimu's routes (only if you like the characters - they're routes are much shorter and not as good as the others'), before finishing off with Riho's route, as her story is canon.

OVERDRIVE also made Edelweiss, but I didn't really enjoy it.

I really don't think I can continue Kira Kira....I'll give it a bit longer but I'm about to get thoroughly disgusted with it.

When they're being taught to swear almost ALL THE TIME without knowing what the words even mean, it kinda hurts.  Not only that, but how they portray these "punk rockers," and saying it's a GOOD thing to be like that practically, is just horrendous in my opinion.

Thankfully that passes pretty quickly, I'll admit it's pretty cringe-worthy. Every person i've recommended Kira Kira to has enjoyed it to varying degrees but i'll admit it's probably not to everyone's tastes.

If it makes you feel any better, Deardrops has none of that.

I told myself I'm going to complete at least one route, and if I don't enjoy it more than I hate it, I will stop and pick up Deardrops.

Go for Kirari first and check out her first ending. That's pretty much the best part of Kira Kira~

Agreed. Kirari's normal route is most definitely the best one.

I finally finished Estel Freesia's route on Brighter than Dawning Blue.  It was somewhat more complicated/slower to read than the other routes.  But it was the most poignant story of all the ones I played so far (Feena, Natsuki, Mai).  They should have made an anime out of it.  A movie, perhaps.  In an anime, the story told in retrospect at the end would have been best presented as a prologue in chronological order--I can understand, of course, why that can't be done in the VN, because at the beginning of the VN you haven't chosen your route yet.

In the meantime I finished Suzuka's route in Lamune.  That finishes off the Main Circle of characters, you (Kenji), Nanami, Suzuka, and Hikari.  I think I will save Tae for some other time, maybe when I get around to playing the PS2 version.

It's interesting that your sister Suzuka changes so much depending on whether you choose her route or not (in Lamune your actions in childhood primarily determine your route).  The other characters are pretty much the same.

Right now I am on an omake where you actually play as Kenji's Dad.

After this I'm thinking maybe Hoshizora no Memoria or Shuffle, I figure I should play these so I can keep up with the English readers.

playing Ever17 and Sengoku Rance..but so far not really a big fan of Sengoku <_<

I don't really understand the hype around Sengoku Rance or Ever17 >.< Though Ever17 was still leaps and bounds ahead of Sengoku Rance.

Hoshizora is a lot of fun =)

On another note, I finished Gadget Trial. It didn't have much of a story and the gameplay was pretty basic but I would still say I enjoyed it.

Gonna go onto Kara no Shoujo next, though that probably won't be till after I finish exams.

It's a good turn-based strategy game for people who like turn-based strategy. Of course the porn doesn't hurt either :D

Agreed. Plus Rance games are always fun. The porn part its not that important after all. Its way more

funny the stupid stuff that Rance always says and does.

Im playing Yumina The Ethereal now. Its quite a fun game. The SD character designs are cute and the animations are amusing to watch. Didnt expect much from the story, but its ok so far.

I thoroughly gave up on Kira Kira after finishing Kirari's good end.  I dislike pretty much every single character except for Sarina, who's route I might read once I finish some of the other ones I want to play.  That being said, I will now start playing Deardrops as the main character seems 100% better, and because of Riho <3.

Finished the non-True routes of Ever17.

Takeshi's route were kinda bland and had terrible endings, although they brought some important pieces to the puzzle and a few plot twists. (Well Tsugumi's essentially, because Sora's route doesn't bring anything Tsugumi's doesn't)

Shounen's routes were much better. Especially Sara's which I just finished.

Still, that true route better be worth it. Things are starting to make sense and I can kinda see where this is going, but there's still a lot to uncover and I expect to be proven wrong and mind-blowned.

Well... it wasnt the least obvious to me. It was really hard to figure out, so you  may be in for a big surprise as well.
