  1. Greetings. My name is Tulio Ramírez, and I am founder of Maleiwa Games, a dev team from Latinamerica to create visual novels. I am the script writter and producer of our current project: The Sassy Detective, based on a novel in spanish named "La Detective Impertinente", published on Wattpad. It´s the story of Amanda Manrique, a peculiar, spicy and mischievous detective and her assistant, Fernando Salgado. They were hired by a japanese diplomat to solve a mysterious robbery in Japan. With the help of a priestess, Nishi Segawa, they start with the investigation, but anything could happen including spicy encounters with the girls of the story. They also are accompanied by Melanie, an idol pop with a bit of story with Fernando in the past, which strong feelings for him, in preparation for a concert in Japan. Originally developed by Norami Games, a latinamerican brand for visual novels and light novels, but due to their closure, I acquired the rights of the game. Now is fully done and about to be launched on December 20th, 2022, in itch.io. The game is written in spanish and english, improving the original art style of the Norami version, fixing bugs, and adding new features, like a censorship mode for streamings, a gallery for the special images and profiles for the characters. We hope you can support us by buying our visual novel, comment and share, to reach to more people, and with luck, Maleiwa Games can grow to develop more visual novels and other type of games. Enjoy the launch trailer and follow Maleiwa Games on Youtube to get more news about this and more games in the future. Also on twitter at @maleiwagames.
  2. Introduction Hello everyone! I'm Gyme-gyme. I'm making a visual novel about a character named Paloma. I'm the only one in the team^^ and will be making everything (except for music) Story Paloma is an Angelical, a creature that enjoys devouring the memories of humans. Paloma began her training recently and must learn to distinguish the good memories from the bad ones in order to satisfy her superiors. However, she finds it difficult to understand the humans and the decisions they made to get here. Will you help her devour the good memories, or will you let her succumb to her superiors? Features Choose who will receive the 'Angelical Trial'. Put yourself in the shoes of Paloma, the main character. Make your own decisions and forge how the story will continue, multiple endings and nonsense scenes. 3 Endings Around 3 hours long English and Spanish. Progress Story 75% Art 10% I don't have many art to share wihtout spoiling the story yet -sorry! You can find the game, for now, only on the itch.io page. Thank you for reading.
  3. Trapped in an evolving death game, he chooses to rebel. One by one, the Rules must fall. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fZkKAn6B5s Demo: https://gj-staff.itch.io/beyond-r-rule-ripper VNDB page: https://vndb.org/v39825 Hello! Just announced today, Beyond R: Rule Ripper is an indie VN I've been working on for a few years now with a small group of freelancers, with a Kickstarter planned for early next year and a release sometime in 2024. It's a suspense drama story about 10 strangers that awaken in a mysterious luxury bar, the Golden Jack. They have been poisoned by their kidnapper, The Owner, and only victory in their game will give them their lives back. There are 10 Rules, each one assigned in secret to each player. They must follow all rules except their own, and their death will eliminate the rule from the game forever. However, a young man among the players refuses to play along. The cast The project is about halfway done overall, especially in regards to the script and music, with the Kickstarter aiming to fund the remaining visuals (backgrounds and more character expressions/body poses) and see if we can go beyond (pun semi-intended) the initial humble goal of simply finishing it. With enough success, we'll be able to make CGs and raise the production values, though for its current size there's plenty of features already, including some gameplay elements based on Danganronpa/Ace Attorney trials, a multi-layered soundtrack, 3D constructed backgrounds, more than a handful of endings, two language options, and more. I could go into a lot more detail, but the demo can do that job a lot better, as it covers the first few chapters of the game in full with mostly finished assets. That said, I'll be updating this with screenshots, character profiles, and more info as we reveal them on Twitter daily (for the time being, anyways). Update log (December 2th, 2022): -Added final character profile Character Profiles Screenshots GJ Staff credits:
  4. Introduction: Yuriko, a detective, accepts a strange case at the Aoi ladies academy, the girls at the academy began to disappear, apparently this case is related to something from her past. Info This story was done in one week, so it is very short. (literally very short, 3,218 words). The profits from this game will go towards the development of the main game and future games! Credits: - English TL: Suki Novels - Music(Itch.io and bandcamp): Rest! - Beta testing/Dialogue corrections: ventraq - Bacgrounds(Itch.io and DLsite): Selavi Games / Minikle - Sprites (DLsite): BUBU-K Screenshots Q&A Why is short? I wanted to test my skills as a developer and writer. On the other hand, this story is part of the direct story line of the Project Alice franchise and serves as a prequel to future games. Why is this game paid if it's very short? That's because I'm a little financially bad (more because of the situation in my country), that's why this game is not free. In simple terms. Will the game have an update expanding the game play? If I see that you like this game and want to see more I will consider it, however, I consider it complete. As I still want to save a lot of things for future games in the Project Alice franchise. > I accept all kinds of feedback to improve my next projects, and myself as a writer and programmer. I'm a visual novel developer since 2014, I'm still learning since in this industry to improve you have to learn by creating and reading other projects. -- Neyunse Relevant Links: itch (game page): https://kagarisoft.itch.io/after-dream Discord: https://discord.gg/eNnRgbt Twitter: https://twitter.com/KagariSoft itch (Page): https://kagarisoft.itch.io Web Site: https://kagarisoft.com
  5. Project Introduction We at PlaceHolder Name Studio are asking for feedback to recently translated demo version of our costume drama mystery Visual Novel – Court of Crowns. We have created our game in Game Maker Studio 2, and the demo is released on Windows and HTML5. Soon it will be released on Android as well. In our Ace Attorney inspired game, you play as Princess Adela de Rex, a young heiress to the throne, and you are tasked with presiding over Crown Court. Similarly to AA games, you are involved in questioning witnesses, but you also restore order during heated debates, and compare opposing parties’ versions of events. Aside from general feedback, we are interested in hearing if you did find the story and premise interesting. We also want to hear your thoughts about graphics and music. Features Ace Attorney inspired gameplay, but from the perspective of a judge Voiced acted recurring lines Costume drama set in fictional world based on late XVIII/early XIX century Personality Quiz that determines one of 8 possible believes sets for the main protagonists, which influences her lines and inner narration In the future we also intend to have following features Story influencing choices Multiple endings for each episodes, involving various outcomes of its cases Actions from past episodes having consequences in next ones Ability to influence your relationship with different characters, making them either reliable allies or fierce enemies Progress We have a finished and translated around one hour demo, that covers about 40% of Episode 1. We plan on making 5 separate episodes. 6. Siren's Call: A free Denpa visual novel where you escape from an actual tourist trap. Siren's Call is a Denpa visual novel loosely based off of my experiences living in (and escaping) Central Florida as an adult on the autism spectrum. The game was a passion project made by myself, my wife, my best friend, and a couple other close friends and freelancers. It took us roughly four years to complete and is now out on Steam for free. While your millage may vary on how scary you find the game (much of it is based off of my own personal fears), I can say with conviction that you will feel the love and effort put into this project. Steam Download: here Features and stuff: 7+ hours of Visual Novel Gameplay with dire consequences for how you choose to spend this final day of yours. 55 journal entries and and 60 unlockable gallery images for those who want to explore everything this town has to offer. An original story centered on saying goodbye to friends rather than saying hello to strangers. A dynamic, original soundtrack meant to perfectly capture the feel of central Florida music. A cast of lovely characters that only want what's best for you. A 94% positivity rating on steam with 150+ reviews! (not a feature, but I'm proud of this one} Characters: Judith, the exceptionally sweet (and extraordinarily intense) sovereign of Siren’s Call! Andi, the sovereign’s sassy twin sister whose strength and spunk speak volumes on their own! Ashton, a hero in training whose sizable fist is matched only by the size of his heart! Emil, the once timid boy turned man who will not stop until he reaches absolute perfection... and, of course, Violet: your actual girlfriend. We've finished the main game which you can find on steam right here, but my team and I are also making extra story content as well! Prove You Aren't Dead: A Epilogue While it is true that our team succeeded where many others have failed and got Siren's Call out in a playable state, it is far from being "complete." Over the course of the past five months, I've released a few bonus stories acting as a prequel of sorts to the events of the main game. But in terms of the true epilogue...that is what I'm going to be working on for the foreseeable future. If you would like to support this project, there's a link to the kickstarter right here, but I mostly just wanted to create this post as a little home where I can post updates on not just this new content, but Siren's Call as a whole. If anybody has any comments or feedback on the project, I am very excited to hear them and discuss your experiences. This VN has been my wife and I's life for the past few years and if ya'll have any thoughts, don't hesitate to share them. Until then, enjoy your stay in Siren's Call.
  7. Roadwarden is an interactive fiction in which you explore and change a hostile, grim realm. Everyone knows to stay away from the wilderness. Most people would never risk a lonely journey. Roadwardens not only accept this struggle, they embrace it. They deliver messages, assist merchants, burn human corpses and, if possible, get rid of beasts and highwaymen. Travel through a detailed fantasy setting filled with secrets, challenges and uniquely harsh lore. Have immersive conversations. To gain support of dozens of NPCs, you need to earn their trust during complex dialogues and sidequests. Create your own character through role-playing and decisions. Shape your background, abilities, beliefs and personality. Unveil the local mysteries. Investigate, use your wit and make connections to understand the true nature of this realm. Overcome your weaknesses. The wilderness is full of dangers and you can trust nobody. Find your path to success against all odds. You can find more information as well as the free demo on the game's website! So, what do you think? Have you got any idea how can we call this game's genre? : P

  10. In a world where Fate seems to be set in Stone, there's nothing you can do to change it. Or can you? Download the Game on Itch.io "Moirai" is a Visual Novel Style Game, in which you meet Characters from Greek Mythology with a tragic Backstory, and can influence their course of Fate. Exploring the surroundings in a modern City, you can gather more information about the world you're about to plunge into and maybe spot some snarky comments here and there. In the current Chapter you meet Pandora, a young woman who is a victim to her mighty uncle Zeus' revenge. Can you help her out of that situation? Or... do you even want to? We are a Team of 3 Animation&Game Students from Germany, who created this Game as Part of our Bachelor's Degree. Our Goal was to create a Visual Novel which includes an explorable Environment, increasing the Immersion and Player Interactivity. This Version is showing the first Chapter of Three, so not all of the Consequences and Story can be shown. Due to our limited capacities concerning (wo)manpower and time, we decided to only create this Part as a proof of concept for our Thesis. If you liked this, please let us know and support us so we can create the other two Chapters as well! If you played the Game, please take a couple minutes to answer this survey on Itch.io, it would mean a lot to us and help write our Bachelor's Thesis. Our Team: Anneke Stiehler - Programming & Game Design Malika Widmayer - Environment & TechArt Marlena Themann - Characters & Dialogue Wieland Müller - Sound Design

  12. My name is Ziczin About me: - I write in many genres, I experiment a lot. More than 4 years of experience. - I consider awareness to be an important part of the process of creating a composition. Those. the performer is obliged to fully understand all the details of the process of creating a track, since in most cases, this is exactly what is the key to high-quality sound design. Work process: - Make the most detailed TK. Be prepared to write a little more, maybe I'll ask about the project. The quality of the composition depends on the fullness of the TK. - Indicate in advance whether the track is being written for a specific scene or will be used many times, whether this track will characterize a character, root, location, or should simply accompany the mood. It is important. - As a reference (mastering | post-processing) I can request a couple of finished tracks. It is important that the tracks have the same audible volume and are not altered by the engine sequencer (or altered equally). - Edits are accepted only from one person. - Edits must be specific, i.e. phrases like "This is not the mood here" will not be quoted. - The price may depend on the complexity and duration of the composition, as well as on the number of renders sent. Examples of my tracks on SoundCloud: - Plays (Free use) - Experiments - Old tracks - Once upon a time for a short story (Free use) - About~trailer tracks - Tracks for the visual novel "Amalgamms" - Tracks for the visual novel "Golden Leaves" - Tracks for the "Splitlands" Competitive Novel (10th out of 136 by the "Audio" criterion) - Tracks for Anivisual Jam3 Novel "Singularity of Hearts" - Tracks for the modification of Katawa Shoujo: Letters to Venus You can contact me in VK - https://vk.com/ziczin Or by discord - Зишка#7806 Or by mail - ziczin@vk.com Well you get the idea/

  15. Hi everyone! I already know some of you through Discord server, I've been talking about this game my friends and I are working on, but let me introduce it to everyone in more detail here! Unwritten: How will your story end? is a F2P visual novel game that 15 of us worked together on, for more than 10 months! It will feature hybrid gameplay with interactive elements and choice-based system that WE KNOW will make a difference! We're hoping to bring something new to the world of visual novels, be it through the beautiful art, unique personalities of each series, or compelling storytelling that combines different interactive elements to create a truly exciting narrative. Also, featured series will be diverse with genres and will range from modern love and romance to mystery, fantasy, horror, comedy, drama… The first four series of the game have already been announced! Those are: Second Society (a paranormal/vampire story), Triple Scoop (a high school comedy setting), Gears of Snow and Cinders (a very cool fantasy/forbidden love series) and Business with Pleasure (set in a steamy, passionate location of a popular club!) The series first to be released is Business with Pleasure, and I'm happy to introduce Camila and Ignasi, main protagonists of the series! Keep in mind that these are not their only looks! (you can pick the gender, race, clothes, hair etc) The game will be released very soon, both on Google Play and App Store! We'll make sure to update you about that, ofc! But while we're waiting for the release, I'm inviting you to join our official subreddit! There you'll get the newest content and learn more about the game, read the full synopsis of these series, details about the development of the game, fanart etc. Link to our sub ---- Unwritten Some more info about Unwritten: Choices WILL make a difference! Based on the choices you made in the game, the plot shifts to a different version of the same path. Those new paths triggered by the choices are creating a much larger story, and an entertaining experience that will be similar to reading the book or watching a TV series. Points based structure, which dictates the progression of the game. They are not implemented to add to the difficulty of the game, but to truly immerse players into the storyline and give them higher control while playing. The authenticity of the characters and the situations. Often, main characters and NPCs in games are lacking the backbone, or the conviction when doing something. We tried to counter that in the game and give them their own mindset, backgrounds, traumas and triggers, with some more realism woven in the plot. Ofc, the series and scenes will have trigger warnings when applicable! Diversity! We want our app to be inclusive, affirmative, and positive! We're aiming to become an app that will set a new standard on the market and be universally enjoyed by everyone, no matter the cultural background, religion, gender, race, sexuality, or age! More TBA! I'm looking forward to all of your comments and questions here, I'll try to answer each one of them! But to make sure we're seeing your messages, please contact us directly on our sub, or through our social media channels: Instagram Facebook Tumblr Thank you!!!!!!
  16. Team Beyond has started developing its Fading Sky pilot project! Fading Sky is a visual novel storytelling game. This is a tragic and sad story set in a fantasy world after a global magical catastrophe. We were inspired by a series of games like Fate (Fate/stay night, Fate/Zero), Science Adventure (Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head), and of course Utawarerumono. GAMEPLAY The main features of the Fading Sky gameplay: - narration in the style of a visual novel with full voice acting (in English and Russian). - two main characters, the player's choice. - non-linear story with a choice. - the ability to influence the fate of two worlds at once. - Thoughtful and detailed dark fantasy setting. - study of the history of the world and characters. - torn pages of the book "The myths of Arret" describing the history of the world of Arret, which can be found in the most unexpected places in the game world. - more than 10 story endings. - eroge-element for PC versions of the game as a separate patch. GRAPHIC ARTS Fading Sky is a 2.5D RPG with fully animated scenes and characters. FullHD native resolution (1920 x 1080). A team of talented artists is working on this. PLOT AND CHARACTERS Fading Sky will tell you a tragic tale of the last moments of Arret's world. A story about those who will witness this, together with whom you will learn the history of the rise and fall of this once beautiful world. The tension of our story will strike from the very beginning of the narrative and will increase as the reason for which three of our contemporaries ended up in this dying world is clarified. In an attempt to understand what is happening, they will somehow close the last chapter of this mysterious story. LORE Inspired by various fantasy stories and a little bit of Celtic mythology, we created our own universe, which we called Fading Dimension or simply FD. This is elaborate lore, at many the era before the events of this game. We hope that Fading Sky will become just a small island in the Sea of Void of our history and a starting point for the implementation of all our ideas. We are also working on a card game in the FD universe rewound several eras before the start of the disaster. TECHNICAL PART The game is being developed on the studio's own engine FadingEngine, which is built on C++, OpenGL, and FMOD technologies, which allows the project to be ported to almost any of the well-known gaming platforms, from Windows/Linux to iOS/Android and even PS/XBOX. AS AN INTRODUCTION TO STORY History turns into legends, legends into myths, myths into fairy tales that are quickly forgotten. Perhaps once the world was different, lived according to different laws and unspoken rules, carried other creatures and other plants on its body. Served as a book for thousands of forgotten but massive stories. One of these stories has not yet received a full ending. Although its beginning has long been forgotten, the trace still stretches from the depths of eras and grows with a heavy echo with each shift of hands of the world clock. The beginning of the story has long been forgotten... but its end is near, and it will touch the three inhabitants of the city of Bristol, which is located somewhere in the British Isles. 2026, May 13th. From the very morning, it was raining, and the sky did not clear up that day again... NEAREST PLANS Soon, we plan to release a demo version of the game (Fading Sky: One dream before), which will become the zero chapter of the whole story, i.e. it will be a separate short backstory a few hours before the main plot of Fading Sky. We are also planning to release a trailer, where we are ready to show both an animated introduction to the game and some of the gameplay itself (where we will try to do without story spoilers). After that, we hope to launch the company on Kickstarter or Pathreon (we haven't decided exactly yet, but we already have interesting material rewards for our future bakers). We are glad that we have begun work on this project and sincerely hope that you will like it. Subscribe to us on social networks: www.facebook.com/groups/fadingskygame www.vk.com/fading_sky_game Follow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/tea_beyond Leave your feedback - we welcome any opinion from our future audience, especially if it helps us expand our universe and, as a result, will interest you! See you soon in the spaces of FD! With you was a game designer and programmer, composer and screenwriter, and a little more the head and producer of the Fading Sky project German Espoir.
  17. We believe that video games are meant to push the boundaries, both technological and of the way we experience stories and beauty. We are passionate about every magical gem that comes from our fiery forge. The road from an idea to a final product requires patience and hard work but what an adventure it is! Hello everyone Most of our graphics are made on Procreate - our artist Michalina simply can't imagine working without this splendid tool. In previous articles, we wrote a bit about the process of creating graphics for our game (mostly backgrounds and renders), but today we will show you the process of creating cutscenes - it's not complicated, but the graphics must meet several requirements to be ready. Of course, the initial phase is to prepare a description of the graphics. After that our artist creates a concept. The goal is not to create an accurate frame, but just a simple graphic. We also want to see shadows and lights. Wonderfully we have it! But is it finished? Actually, it's the beginning of the fun After the initial concept is done, our artist gets some tips and she can create a comic book line art without shadows and lights. Another portion of tips and our artist again refines the frame. Looks much better, right? Great! The graphic looks good. The face expresses cold emotions, the room has taken shape. Ready! It's time to send the graphics to the next artist, who will color it. The artist sends us a frame with a question if the choice of colors is appropriate - we agree. Michalina starts improving the picture and sends us the final version. Finally, it's ready! We animate the frame and the final version is presented as below: We are very happy that we could show you the process of creating that frame. We believe that video games are meant to push the boundaries, both technological and of the way we experience stories and beauty. We are passionate about every magical gem that comes from our fiery forge. The road from an idea to final product requires patience and hard work but what an adventure it is!

I will do anything to create it" - ??? The kingdom of Alteria is under threat from the demon king. Luckily, there was a prophecy that when a certain child(called "The Hero of Fortune") will reach the age of 18, he will eat a golden fruit and gain enough powers to defeat the demon king and his army. One day, Prince Horace receives a letter from his father saying "The Hero of Fortune is now in the eastern market, escort him to the castle where he can eat the golden fruit". When Horace goes to the market he meets 3 different girls, each claiming to be the Hero of Fortune. Now Horace must look into the girls and determine who is the real Hero of Fortune, who are the impostors and what do they want. But his adventures won't end there... That doesn't count short bad endings, for instance deciding to have sex with the demon princess in an active volcano(which can happen in the story btw). Characters Nozomi Nozomi is a cheerful and energetic girl. She lived in the forest most of her life with her demonic magician gangster bunny mentor(there is an explanation for that), so she doesn't know a lot about civilized society and gets excited about every little thing(with a lot of funny misunderstandings). Nozomi has an endless supply of sexual jokes and has a talent to use them exactly in the worst time. She isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but she has a great affinity for magic.(magic is mainly used by demons) Riko Riko has a short fuse and quite a lot of ego. She won numerous gladiator championships before with her amazing agility. Her ego is quite fragile, and with her childish and stubborn attitude that's quite the explosive combo. She loves drinking and speaking high language. Riko's former family was a family of gladiators, but they disowned her for being too weak. Now Riko plans to beat her father in the finals and take revenge on him. She also possesses a drawing of Horace for some reason... Haruka Haruka is a shy and insecure girl. She is a genius that solves riddles in the blink of an eye and predicts what others will do based on cold logic. She lives in the slums of the Capital and is very physically weak. Although Haruka is insecure most of the time, when she faces an intellectual challenge she transforms into a strong woman with a lot of confidence. She holds some very strong political views regarding the royal family. Contrary to her innocent looks, she is an avid fan of torture. Horace CG3 Final.jpg (43.26 KiB) Viewed 1278 times Horace is the next king of Alteria and trains everyday to become a better king. He is a little spoiled, but he understands how big his responsibility is. He cares a lot about Alteria and will even risk his life to keep his kingdom safe. He is not a genius, but he finds some creative and crazy ideas to solve hard problems. He is a huge gladiator fan and an otaku. He is also quite handsome.(which does help him in some situations...) 20. This is a Chaos;Child-esque animation to "Delusion of Zero" - a short story to Chaos;Head written by SciADV scenario writer Hayashi Naotaka. Recounting the memories of 'Shogun', it serves as prequel to the events of Chaos;Head and sheds some more light on his intentions as well as his past in general: I plan on adapting the story in three parts, with part one and two (Black Sky and Blue Sky) being an introduction as well as the main part (Shogun's POV) respectively. The "introduction" is a slightly altered and truncated remake of the AA ending (Noah's "Blue Sky" ending), leading up to the point where Delusion of Zero starts off. The altered script is supposed to serve as more suitable exposition, as Delusion of Zero could be seen as sort of midquel. The first two parts I'll upload today, the remaining third part focusing on Rimi's epilogue I'll upload as soon as I find the time to finish it. ---------------- Previously there has been an in-game rendering done by a group around spiderfreak1011. If you liked my version, please consider to check out their one as well:

  23. TEASER TRAILER Hey! I'm Bee, an indie developer working on a game that I figured you guys would be interested in. This game started as what was to be a web comic, but later developed to fit into a visual novel style format. We're both students from Michigan hoping to pursue game development as a prospective career in the future. We're working on this project alongside a talented cast of voice actors to help make it a more immersive experience. Keizu is a visual novel style adventure about forest spirits, corrupt businesses, family heritage and a story of undying love. Some of the biggest inspirations for this title are game's like To The Moon and Phoenix Wright that feature unique adaptations of the classic VN genre. Keizu is inspired by the art direction and storytelling of the studio Ghibli films as well as that of other narratively driven adventure games such as Ori and The Blind Forest and Night In The Woods. The game has something for everyone featuring a story involving the main character Rowan's struggle to find her place in the world after a tragic accident leaves her fiance dead. When she feels hopeless and lost, the spirits of her ancestors help guide her back to finding herself. Rowan meets new friends, finds new hobbies and helps save the woods near her town from destruction in her journey to recovery. Keizu features full voice acting and a diverse cast of characters. Representation is an important factor in the game's development for us. I know some of you want to hear this so I'll just out and say it. It's gay Some features in the game include things like -Fishing -2D Side scrolling exploration segments featuring hand drawn art and tons of unique locations to see. -A diverse cast of characters and NPCs to meet as you venture through the town of Udosa. -Over 10 hours of content with more coming in DLC updates that will be free to Kickstarter backers upon the game's release. -A full length webcomic following the game's characters in their day to day lives in the same time span as the game's story to help broaden the game world. The game is in an early stage of development and should be fully completed by this time next year. When we started this project and up to now all development expenses have come out of pocket with myself working an extra job to help pay for it. Starting my Freshman year of college this upcoming fall semester, it's not realistic for us to continue doing this. To help aid the game's development, we're taking our game to kickstarter! If you'd like more info check out my studio's website at https://sdsvgame.com/ Our twitter page at https://twitter.com/sdsvgame Itch.io sdsvg.itch.io/keizu Don't miss the Kickstarter campaign's launch July 5th where limited edition merch and rewards will be available! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sdsvg/keizu-a-life-in-the-woods
  24. Hello everyone, I've spent a fair amount of time trying to come up with a good story idea for a visual novel and was wondering if I could get some opinions on a pretty high-level description of my idea. This story would be a sci-fi/mystery visual novel that in its beginning stages, would follow five short character stories, which would be used as a means of introducing each of these individual characters. in these stories, each character is in their senior year and are trying to decide on a college to go to. basically, after their introduction, this university, which I have yet to come up with a name for, would use varying methods to try and influence these 5 students to attend the university. Be it through scholarships, a good athletic program, or a good program for their major, all five of these students are convinced to attend this university. mind you, the person who they are corresponding with is willing to give/say anything in order to convince these five characters to attend. I would release these 5 stories in a sort of episodic format as I completed them. As for the UI, It would have huge significance to the story. basically, the UI would have a sort of futuristic but slightly buggy/distorted look to it. On the bottom of the screen would be five generic silhouettes that would represent each of the five characters. Periodically, I would change the text on the screen to things like "Searching for candidate," etc. Upon completion of one of these stories, I would change the status to "Candidate located" and at that point, the generic silhouette would be replaced by the actual character's silhouette, and the story would become playable. upon completing the character's story, their silhouette would be replaced with their actual character sprite, and the status would change to "Candidate acquired" for a short time before returning to "Searching for candidate." Along with this, files on this futuristic desktop would be unlocked, and become viewable. These files would contain various different images, documents, and sound files, that would both be a means of world-building, and would also give away some juicy details of the overarching story. Once all five of these stories are completed, I would set to work on writing the final, long story. In which, all five characters, along with one new, very significant character, of which you play from the perspective of, would meet at this University. This final story would be pretty relaxed, until the characters start noticing odd things about the university, and slowly builds up until they try to get to the bottom of whats going on. Essentially, for the mystery aspect, what I have at this point is that the MC of the final game was the son of an esteemed inventor. this inventor's life goal was to create the first truly sentient artificial intelligence capable of feeling emotion and thinking for itself. He passed away before he was ever able to completely achieve his goal. However, he did manage to create the most advanced AI to date. before his death, he told this AI to do whatever was necessary, short of letting anyone come to harm, to create the first truly sentient AI. this gave the inventor a little bit of comfort prior to his passing, as he thought if this AI he created could do it, in a small way, he would have achieved his goal. Upon the inventors passing, the AI began formulating a plan to achieve its inventor's goal. the AI's plan was to attempt to get five people together in the correct environment, where they would have adequate funding and resources to create this first sentient AI. (you see where I'm going with this ). The AI essentially builds a university around itself via the use of robotic, humanoid puppets to found the university, and do all the things it could not, being stuck in place and all. money was no object as the inventor was very successful in many other endeavors and left it all to the AI. the AI then began searching for the best candidates. A few random ideas as well I thought I'd mention: I have an idea for the climax of this final story in which the characters finally find the truth, and find the AI. upon entering the inventor's workshop and finding the AI, the player would immediately notice that on the central screen would be an exact replica of the UI of the game. thus telling them that the answer was in front of their face the whole time. I've also considered a plot thread in which the humanoid puppets that the AI controls sort of have a will of their own, and desire to be truly sentient. Upon completing the game one final set of files would become unlocked. showing the POV of one of the humanoid puppet AI's being created. their body would be in disrepair of course as they would still be in the process of being built. many other projects of the inventors would be visible. the AI would look around before finally focusing on another, humanoid AI, this one in far worse shape. The player would recognize it as the character that led all five of the other characters to the university. however, this AI is not being controlled by the inventor's AI and is acting of its own volition. I've thought about using them as a villain for a future game. Thank you for reading my story idea. any feedback or constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!
  25. Heyo, I'm Sleepy from EXP-resso Mutt! I wanted to share a point-and-click steampunk horror visual novel we've been working on called "Camera Anima"! It's about twin sisters, floating islands, and a soul-stealing automaton who takes the souls of those who meet his face. Other than that, we always welcome feedback and questions about the game! SUMMARY “One, two, the bell tolls late “Three, four, don’t forget your Face "Five, six, don’t stay out late "Seven, eight, don’t meet his face "Nine, ten, never wake again” Camera Anima is a point-and-click visual novel game about twin sisters, a series of serial killings stretching across decades, and an automaton who takes the souls of those who meet its face. On the Floating Isles of Awyr, citizens live in a society where their livelihoods and social status are defined by the masks or “Faces” they wear. Though attitudes are slowly changing towards the Face-system, there are rumors that those who wander the streets at night without a Face become prey to the Artisan, doomed to turn up as a stylistically arranged corpse. You take control of Essie Flaversham, whose twin sister is taken by the Artisan. Pursue the Artisan, unravel the history behind them, and save your sister before it's too late.
