Started playing pirate rogue last night thanks to Babiker. I'm still very, very awkward with it, but I'm enjoying it. After nothing but hours and hours of cw, it's nice to have a change of pace. Speaking of cw, I'm loving it more than I ever since TGT. Justicar Truehart is really bringing out my ResidentSleeper even more.

Don't worry. I'm really fucking bad at Hearthstone and I've been playing (a lot) since beta. Added you.

Seeing as how Zebhra missed the last session I shall fill you all in...
Part 3: Rivals in a Dead Town
    Starring:
Zodai: the DM, Serria (NPC), Carrewyn (NPC) and Ariella (NPC)
    Nimbus: Mad Serpent Midgar
    JoeHawks: Orryn
    Abyssal Monkey: Aeryl
    Zebhra: Franz

    Special Appearance by;
    Babiker: Basha
Our story continues with the adventurers, now with the addition of a new, and rather promiscuous human NPC, giving their Ranger friend a viking funeral after deciding to leave him behind. As they left the cave to continue their journey west Serria asked the group "Did anyone think to check his pulse?" All eyes turned to Carrewyn who was too busy swatting a fly with his sword to answer. Franz attempted to try some morning calisthenics but fell down a hill and knocked himself out. The party continued their travels until they reached the ruins of a village. Midgar and Orryn searched the town hall while the others looked around outside (presumable looking for something to prank Carrewyn with). Midgar searched one of the first floor rooms, got blinded by some dust and exited the room with his pride considerably wounded. Orryn on the other hand went upstairs and found an office that seemed to have been visited by a monster. Inside he found a locked drawer that drew his attention.
The two met up with the others and told them of the draw, Aeryl led the others back to the room and opened the drawer with no effort (much to the amazement and embarrassment of everyone else). Inside there were many documents (which Ariella seemed very interested in) and a map. A tremor forced the group to continue their examination outside the hall. Serria tells the group that the symbol on the map was familiar to her. She, Orryn and Midgar followed the map to the room Midgar had visited earlier and found a trapdoor. Following it down the trio eventually found themselves at a door, which Orryn deduced was not lifeless on the other side. Orryn and Midgar drew straws to see who would open it (guess who lost).
Midgar charged through the door and the group was blinded by a bright light. Orryn in a rare lapse of judgment rushed into the room, missed the light source and banged his head on a wall. On the other-side of the room was a mage named Basha who seemed to be in distress. In his hand was an empty potion vial. The mad mage mumbled some  drivel before collapsing on the floor. Midgar and Orryn examined the floor to find many different potions scattered across the floor. Getting real tired of Midgar's pirate shit, and Orryns terminal righteousness, the two force fed each other potions that they picked up which resulted in the Dragonborn and the Gnome knocking each other out.
Our story ends with the mage and Serria looking at each other, wondering who would carry the 6'5 lizard-man and who would carry the glorified leprechaun.

On next weeks episode; more comic relief by serious characters.

Well, for one they look kinda nice. It's hard to be too critical considering these are just sketches, but I can definitely say they're an improvement from how they use to look. Looking forward for that demo!

I felt a need to at least reply to this thread. I will spare everyone the agony of my usual pages of text for shorter points.

Normally, I would stay out of these sorts of discussions based on my personality, but in this case, I think that might give this reply more weight. I am without a doubt not comfortable talking to people. Fuwa was (is) a community that I have actively joined despite my shyness crippling fear of people because this community is easy to be a part of. This was mainly related to the mentor program (you can read my post there if interested).

I can honestly say I have only attended 1 of Ren's podcasts. The one I did was awesome. I did it during work and almost got busted   . I've listened to a few others from the recordings and they were enjoyable. At least for me, participating in something like that is a bit tricky as I work very unstable hours.

As a community member, I'm probably a horrible example. I have, without a doubt, the least amount of posts of anyone replying to this thread (until someone makes a new account to prove me wrong). However, I will say I enjoy being here. It is great source of information such as the VN status posts every Saturday (It gives me hope that someday White Album 2 will be TLed). It let me know that Muv Luv was getting a kickstarter (so I could throw money at it). I got to join the VN club (Thanks for working so hard on it everyone, and thanks for your post here on it Nimbus). I've got to play games that took me places I never imagined (Grisaia made me cry so much, thanks Astro).

Am I a good example of what a community member should be? Probably not. However, I will say that the community that is here I still like. It may not be "as good as the old days" but from what I experienced, I like it. There are so many posters I can name offhand. When I see a topic or reply from them I open it immediately because of their knowledge or humor. Maybe I'm foolish, but to me that is a community.

I see the point in a topic like this and I see a good community. The OP was pretty upfront. Most communities would blow up at something like that. Instead, I've seen constructive ideas and people keeping level heads and talking it over. I don't think there are many places like that. The only real parting thoughts I can provide are that if this community has changed and you think for the worse, find out what new ideas can be brought about to bring people in and how the newbies out there, like myself, can more easy integrate into Fuwa.

Edit: Ugh tons of embarassing typos. All remaining ones take backseat to my 日本ごのしゅくだい。
Edit Edit: Mispelled someones name. A fate worse than death itself!

    1. You remembered me, that's my boy. <3

    2. I'll agree with this point. The murder mystery and battle of the guilds were really well-crafted I think, can't say for sure since I didn't took part in them, but the mystery games were pretty poorly done.

    3. I feel like the topics discussed are usually pretty good, people do share their thoughts about what the next one should be, don't they? At least they used to if I remember correctly.

    4. To be honest, together with the new games not being as well done as the others, I think some people might have gotten tired of waiting for the prizes they won. I mean, yeah, it's not exactly cheap to ship all that stuff and all that, but when they take forever to come, people just lose interest. When you participate on a game with no prize, you do it because you want to have some fun, but when there's a prize, you're expecting to receive it if you win. I don't really mind the prizes myself, but I don't even remember which ones I've won so far since I only got updated about the shipping status once in the past - as in you asking for my address and saying it would take some time before you could ship stuff.

This is not really the matter at hand, but this is my honest feedback regarding your activities. I don't have anything else I want to add to the main discussion, sorry for the off-topic.

Because there are better podcasts jk
One thing I would like to point out is that, while you're not the only one who does stuff on the forum, you're probably the only one who does the kind of things you do. They are at the end, luxuries. Not all forums have giveaways or forum games or community podcasts, and you happen to be the only one here, aside from that one time Rose did one, who does it.

You seem to be expecting other people to start doing these activities or for them to renew their interest in your new ones.

Alright, time for a bit of brutal honesty: They're not as good. Your old activities had more interaction for us, mainly the games. I don't think most people here would prefer watching you dance over playing the games you created, like the card game thing or the riddles thing. A bit more organization of the games would also be nice, I recall the other team not making a move and you not doing anything about it for like weeks until both sides got bored.

Maybe brain storm new ideas and make a poll to see which one people want more?

How about asking people what podcast topic they would prefer to talk about?

But if you chat on the TS all day and then decide to do a fitness training stream out of the blue, don't expect staggering results.

There's a lot you can do Ren. You have great potential, and while people might be lazy and guilty, you have to realize you can be just as lazy and guilty. I don't mean to hurt you, but by this point I don't think anything but brutal truth can make a difference. Peace out man.

As one of the "old" members of the site who has basically gone from being a semi-active lurker (that's an oxymoron, right?  I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron... but, that's what I'm gonna call myself!) to an active poster in the Reviews super-secret forum and PMs mostly in regard to the running of FuwaReviews, I'm sort of in the category of "gave up on the forums, but not the site."

I check the site every day for two reasons:  One, to see if there are any new posts that may actually be relevant to my interests.  Unfortunately, with the history not scrolling back as far as it used to, sometimes I miss a few things here and there, and that sucks, but if I don't see it instantly, I'm very likely going to miss it.  And then when I do post on something, then I get sidetracked or forget about it or "promise I'm going to do it later only to not do it" (my most recent example being that I reserved a spot in Ren's thief game, even saying that I was going to apply for it on Skype, only to completely get sidetracked by work), then I don't post responses to anything that may need responding to.  It's a commitment I can't make, and commitments I should avoid making, so I tend to stay away from things I don't feel strongly about.

What I do do is spend some time in our reviews subforum.  Anytime there's a new post in that forum, I'm instantly reading it.  I don't care if it's Bats or Palas or Exenorate or whoever (Down<3) updating their status post or if we have hold of a new review key or what have you, I read that, because that's what I like to do on this site.  I like doing FuwaReviews - I like the business side of doing all of it.  I like working with Flutterz on making sure my reviews are as perfect as they can be.  I like trolling Bats when he is drunk and posting Minute Reviews that are a paragraph in length and have more jokes than actual content.  I like to get people's opinions on what games we should consider high priority.

I do what I enjoy on the site.  Unfortunately a lot of that is behind-the-scenes work, which sucks, but it's what I enjoy.

I would hope people act with this same mentality.  If they aren't having fun, why are they here?  When the torrents were removed, we lost that crowd.  Oh well, they went to [removed] and now they sit on the forums "hey x game is released where the hell is my ddl of it wtf admin".  Then the "Forum Cleanup" policy went into effect, and that sent a lot of people packing because they were worried that they were going to get banned because they post something that may be considered suggestive.  That's not exactly the intent, but I understand where they're coming from, and I also understand why the Administrators would want to take that route.

We can't please everybody.  That's impossible.  Somebody is going to show up and ask "WHAR TORRENT", realize we don't have those anymore, and never come back.  Somebody is going to post something that crosses the line in a spoiler and not realize we can't do that, get warned, and leave.  That's the natural flow of forums.  Same with cliques, moderation, and members.  Natural flow of forums.

Spoiler regarding a similar forum that may trigger people.  Don't click if you're easily triggered.

I say the reality is that people are focusing into groups. This is especially true for anyone who comes to FSG (the Fuwa Skype Group), where you then go to smaller groups for specific games and activities. The Hearthstone group over there is probably more active than this entire forum.

And I'm not really sure if that's a bad thing of a good thing. Why talk on the forum when I can talk on Skype with the same people for direct replies? If I feel like talking about VNs, I talk to the main group, if I feel like singing I go to the Karaoke group, and if I feel like listening to people talk Japanese for some reason I go to the Japanese group. This means the forums ends up kinda ded, but I don't think there's anything to do about it.

People want convenience, and if the most convenient way for me to talk is on Skype or the TS or whatever small chat group you belong to, then that's that.

    My name is Nao Kasukabe.

However, they donno anything about the VN community outside Japan and cannot speak

Unfortunately, you can see their lack of English ability in their game...

So, I am kind of responsible for marketing their game instead of themselves because I can
speak English a little better than them.

And I am also interested in communicating peple across the pacific.

I will plunge myself in this community to know you guys sometimes later.

Please feel free to ask me anything if you have something to tell me or want to know about
    Japanese VN.

Also. Fruits-Jam was interviewed with LewdGamer and will be published later.

We are looking forward to listening what you think about the interview,

So, I honestly don't even know where to begin with this post or how to structure it effectively. I've given so many thank you messages to all sorts of Fuwanovel members that it hardly seems like this will be any different. Still, I feel like I need to write something because even to this day I don't think a lot of people understand how thankful I am for all of the patience and amazing people on and around this website.

Truth be told, I am a pretty lazy person when it comes to keeping a lot of my obligations for the site of Fuwanovel. Maybe that's why a lot of people gave up on the games I was running awhile back. Dealing with stress is hard to deal with because a lot of promises were broken when I started piling up a lot of shipments for giveaways that I wanted to get done a lot earlier in the year. Does my personal life and figurine collecting play a major role in that? Of course it does, but it's not like I was trying to do that from the get go - I genuinely do feed off other people's happiness, and it has and always will be my intention to make members of this site (both old and new) happy.

Still, all of you stuck by me in the end, and to this day you still accept me as a highly regarded member of this site. It feels selfish really. Is it fair to let people think so highly of me in certain instances? Not everyone likes me and my attitude, but even through all of the fooling around and trolling I do with long time veterans of this site, I still love a lot of these people like family. So with that said, I wanted a way to thank all of you once again for always sticking by my during my time of need and for always, always supporting me.

For those of you wondering what is up, I have decided to leave Japan and end my job a little earlier than anticipated in order to pursue further education (in October to be exact). In addition, being near my family during a certain time is also something I really want to be doing. Because of that, I thought it would be a good chance to say thank you. So here it is, a list to all of those I cannot thank enough on and around this website. Thanks again Fuwanovel.

If your name is not on this list, please don't get the wrong idea. There is no particular order for this list; I just wrote names as they came to my head.

Hello. My name is Manuel Godoy and I am the lead developer of Black Sands.

I am ex-military, married with kids, and a total geek.

I did an interview for Black Sands which really speaks to my character and how I think. Enjoy

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO CREATE BLACK SANDS?
I have long been the center of every conversation regarding history and mythology. Since I was a young boy my obsession with mythology has always been overbearing. I watch for years Hollywood butcher myth after myth trying to put a modern spin on things without making much sense at all. This is why I started writing Black Sands.

I developed my story the last three years. First I wrote of Horus but decided I should start chronologically with Rah, the Dark Pharaoh. There were many holes and similarities shared in ancient mythologies that I thought needed to be addressed and Black Sands is how I decided to do it.

WHY CHOOSE TO MAKE IT A VISUAL NOVEL?
I am a big believer in character development. Budget constraints and unpopular ideas make visual novels a more appealing median. It’s hard to pitch “Black and Middle Eastern ethnic gods create empires which to this day, shape our world.”

Hollywood always wants to recreate your story to their likings and I would not allow it. With the Visual Novel genre I have freedom to fully develop the characters and make villains heroes in the right situation. Take for instance the main character of this saga Rah. He is an alien hybrid who resembles a light skinned man with an obsession for Onyx that fights with absolute brutality and suffers from dementia. Good luck fleshing that out in another median.

WHAT MAKES BLACK SANDS UNIQUE COMPARED TO OTHER VNs?
To not sound too cliché, it is basically like game of thrones. The Origins chapter allows players to connect with the major characters in the world before they attempt to conquer it but once they leave the rift, there are many event going on around the world that are told in the story at the same time. Much like in a game of thrones episode, we jump from place to place to watch characters do their own thing.

Additionally, we use q specific set of rules that govern our world so we can make as much sense as possible while incorporating the many and various mythologies of the third millennium BCE.
    ·         A God (Alien) must not kill humans directly.
    ·         A God must never lay with a human.
    ·         A Fallen God must never interfere with the living world.

How we enforce these laws is fun. First, if an ancient god (pure blood aliens) kills a human directly, they lose some of their power. Ancients are immortal but are also elementals so they rely heavily on their reserve power. Hybrids are not as fortunate. They were created with the intention of defeating the Ancients while building empires for humanity. So if they directly kill humans, their lives are literally shortened. Since hybrids are more human than alien, they are mortal.
The second rule is not necessarily enforced, but it is a cautionary rule. The Titans broke this law and created Nephilim. The Nephilim we know of re the giants in Canaan. They raped and enslaved all the women in Canaan while killing every man they could find. This all happened because of foolish desires.

The third rule applies to hybrid gods. They are mortal but when they die, they do not go to dust. Instead, their soul stays as a guardian spirit. These guardians are forbidden to interfere with the mortal world but can still interact with other hybrids as advisors or protectors.

There are also 6 major species in the world.
    ·         Ancients – Aliens that share the same extreme power and longevity that Nun the watcher has.
    ·         Humans – Tribal societies scattered across the earth with organizational skills uncommon in alien culture.
    ·         Nephilim – Human/Ancient hybrids with incredible power and human like reproduction qualities.
    ·         Alien Beasts – Creatures that roam the alien home planet but are recreated here by the ancients.
    ·         Beasts –Earth formed animals that are commonly found here but can have useful talents.
    ·         Hybrids – Mortal gods that create empires and lead the forces of man against the tyranny of the Ancients.

The premise is interesting and new in the genre, and better art would help you immensely, I believe. I hope this project finds success

So I just came back home after retaking my English exam in Highschool to re-apply for college, and lo and behold, the exam's theme was internet freedom and censorship.

I really feel these almost 2 years on Fuwanovel filled with loli threads, "take down da torrentz" threads and "stop censoring my opinion you spawn of Satan" threads really provided me with an insane amount of insight and I truly believe I have just done the most amazing written composition in any English test I've ever made and managed to answer all the questions about why the internet should be a free place.

It was an amazing pleasure to be able to convey all the salt into an actual written exam.

So thank you, Fuwanovel, for constantly debating these ultra important issues, so much so that even Portugal's National English Exam ended up being all about it.

Without you, I would not have been able to write a 220 word composition about "muh freedomz on the internet".

PS: I did end up writing on how lolis shouldn't be censored, but unfortunately that part went over the word limit, but it will forever be remembered in my heart.

Aaeru's Fuwanovel was intricately entwined with anti-copyright advocacy.  It shaped the site, its community, and how Fuwanovel was viewed by the visual novel community at large.  The linked thread was one of many skirmishes between Aaeru and her supporters against what they saw as external aggression--the demand for respect of intellectual property.  I think this thread was notable in that it's the first time (I'm aware of) that such arguments succeeded in achieving a level of respect and recognition within Aaeru's own community, or that a person publicly argued toe-to-toe with Aaeru on her own level without simply dismissing or demonizing her.  I noticed that Aaeru's stance against copyright subtly softened over the course of our arguments, showing that Aaeru wasn't as rigid and unthinking as many of her opponents made her out to be--it was just that no one bothered to actually challenge her views in an effective manner that she could relate to.
